How to choose a computer? office, home, gaming

A powerful computer is the dream of any person who is inseparably connected with it. Especially a gamer dreams of such a device, because modern games place high demands on the processor, video card and other technical characteristics. Therefore, choosing personal Computer   for games it is necessary to understand all these subtleties. So, what characteristics should have a modern computer for games?

Motherboard

Before turning to the discussion of this issue, it is worth noting that expensive does not mean quality. You can buy a gaming device for the same price as a simple computer for work. It is important to choose technical elements that are harmoniously combined with each other and meet the required characteristics. Many users, choosing a computer, pay great attention to the processor and video card. It is not right. Each technical element affects the performance of the gaming computer and, choosing it, attention should be paid equally to all elements.

Let's start the selection of a powerful gaming computer with the study motherboard. When choosing, your attention should be paid to such moments as the types and number of slots for a video card and RAM slots, as well as a socket.

The socket is different for both Inte processors and AMD processors. For a gaming computer, the optimal version of the motherboard is the presence of 4 slots for DDR3 RAM, support for PCI-E 3.0, and two slots for the video card. MSI 970A-G46, ASRock 970 EXTREME3 and ASUS M5A97 R2.0 models are suitable for such characteristics. At the same time, their cost is sufficiently acceptable for any user.

When choosing a computer, do not forget about the type of chipset. The processor power and the ability to control the memory frequency depend on its release year. The more modern it is, the better.

CPU

From the processor depends on the level of computer performance. Its main characteristics are: number of cores, frequency, socket and cache memory.

Frequency or clock frequency characterizes the number of operations that the processor is able to perform per second. Frequency is an important parameter for the processor, but attention should be paid to the architecture itself. Cache memory characterizes the speed at which a processor accesses random access memory. The larger the cache, the higher this rate will be. The socket of the processor according to the characteristics must match the socket on the motherboard. The number of cores should be from 4 to 8. This number of cores allows you to run modern games and professional applications for editing photos and videos.

Choosing a processor, you should pay attention not only to the main characteristics, but also to the test results, conducted by independent experts. This is due to the fact that evaluating processor performance is not based on its main characteristics, but in combination with other technical parametersfor example, kernel performance, system bus bandwidth, etc.

Computer for games is best to choose a modern architecture that will perceive the game in 3D. For the reproduction of such games an important role is played by the cache memory and the number of cores.

Those who will doubt the choice of processor, we advise you to pay attention to modern models with average characteristics. At the same time, their price and quality are quite adequate. These options include the AMD FX-6300, Intel Core i5-4670K and Intel Core i5-3570K. But the last two models are considered the best option for powerful gaming computers.

Video card

This is the technical element, the choice of which to save money is not worth it. Modern games make serious demands on the video card. The power of the video card affects the quality of the transfer of the gaming picture and the higher it is, the better. What can be said about the RAM, which is not so important for the video card. For example, if 2 GB is enough for a modern game, then the power must meet the requirements set by modern games. The cost of the video card should be 40% of the total cost of the computer. Once again we remind you that you should not save!

Hard disk and RAM

In the process of using a computer memory becomes less and less, and the information that needs to be stored more and more. First, we advise you to purchase a model with random access memory   4 GB, and after a time (when it will be missed), replace with more volume or buy more memory. Memory cards are inexpensive. Good models are Hynix DDR3 and Samsung memory cards.

Main characteristic hard drive   - volume The more it is, the better it will be, especially since there will always be something to fill it with. Therefore choosing hDD buy the maximum amount for which you can spend money. The best manufacturers hard drives   Toshiba and HDD are considered. Disk size should choose at least 500 GB. You can take a smaller amount, but after a while you will have to buy more memory. The optimal speed of rotation of the hard disk - 7200 revolutions per minute.

Periphery

After selecting all of the above technical devices, you can proceed to the last - the choice of peripheral devices, which include a mouse, keyboard, speakers, headphones, etc. When choosing these devices, we are most concerned about their appearance, so that there are no obvious defects or breakdowns , scratches, chips, etc. It is worth noting that today there is a keyboard on sale, which is specially designed for gamers. It has special game keys and a convenient layout for the game. Choose peripherals   can be in any hardware store. A large selection of models of keyboard, mice and other elements allows you to make the right and suitable purchase.

So, all the technical details have been bought, it remains to collect all this into one powerful computer for games. The first user error is the confidence that he can do it himself. Without a specialist is not enough. In addition, to increase power, many believe that it is enough to buy one good and expensive item. This is also not a valid statement. To do this, it is necessary to maintain a balance of power of the processor and video card. The best option to buy an already assembled computer.

The gaming industry does not stand still. And every year new products are becoming more demanding of the capabilities of the computer. This year was no exception: some of the announced games have already been released, and other projects are waiting for gamers from day to day, but not everyone will be able to play them. Many will have to do iron upgrades, so in this article we will look at gaming computers in 2015, prices and features (prices in dollars).

Min configuration

Let us analyze the characteristics of the entry-level gaming computer 2015. New processors with Skylake architecture have already appeared on the market. In this case, we chose Core i3, because even in minimum requirements Modern toys are asking for a four core processor. Yes, Core i3 has only two cores, but it can create two more virtual ones using Hyper-Threading technology. A cheaper Pentium on the same architecture, but it doesn’t know how to do this, so the game may simply not start. Despite the same frequency characteristics, the new Core i3 will be slightly faster than the previous model - 4170, and it also has less power consumption (51W, not 54W).

The motherboard and chipset are virtually indistinguishable from their predecessors (intel H61). Choosing a motherboard with DDR4 support also does not make sense, since there will be no performance gain in this configuration, only you will spend more money. As for the amount of RAM, it is less than 8GB - this is generally not relevant for modern games.

The graphics card is chosen GTX 750 Ti 2 GB, because it has no competitors in performance in this price range.

Optimal configuration

Consider the characteristics of an average gaming computer in 2015. This is the optimal configuration for today on the new platform. For those who want to save a little: you can choose the Core i5-4460 ($ 205) and the motherboard to it on Intel B85 ($ 90). But keep in mind that the processor will lose in terms of performance and power consumption, although its full capacity is enough to fully interconnect and work with this video card. Simply, due to the advent of the new line, the prices for these components do not grow as fast as for fresh ones. At least for now.

Soon, a new Radeon R9 380X should appear. This video card will have more structural units than its predecessor, and the amount of video memory will increase to 4GB. It turns out performance gains, and the price range promises to stay at about the same level.

This moment, most likely, will push NVIDIA to create intermediate-priced models between the GeForce GTX 960 and GeForce GTX 970. And this will be very pleasant for us, because the difference of $ 150 between them does not please. Of course, there is a demand for models in this price category, and at least there will be plenty to choose from. The fact is that video memory in 2GB is no longer enough. In this case, the video card will have to use RAM for its needs, and work with it more slowly than with its own memory.

It looks powerful gaming computer   2015, the characteristics of it will allow you to put the settings in the game at the highest level (or ultrahigh). Let's start with the processors. You will need to immediately purchase a new cooler. Because even if it is included, firstly, it’s very loud, and secondly, it’s not enough to overclock the processor. You will most likely have to overclock in order to get maximum performance from the video card.

Fans of the best graphics cards can choose between the GTX 970 4 GB and the Radeon R9 390 8 GB. Well, if money doesn't play a role at all, then, of course, you can also put GeForce GTX 980 or Radeon R9 Fury. In the latter case, the increase in price is absolutely not consistent with the increase in power. But it was always like this, it's TOP!

Another feature of this configuration is the use of SSD drive. Of course, you need to install an operating system on it. But a couple of favorite toys will fit as well. This is done because the speed characteristics of such a hard drive is much higher than that of a conventional HDD. If you want to play with it, then you have to fork out for 512GB SSD, such pleasure will cost from $ 180 to $ 200. It does not make sense to take less, since the games already occupy not 20 - 30 GB, but 60 -70 GB.

The most current lineup at the moment - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1000 Series and AMD Radeon   400th series. A video card is one of the most expensive parts of a PC, so in some cases it makes sense to take a video card from last year’s line, which also supports all modern technologies, but costs much less. It goes without saying that such a video card has a smaller margin for future performance.

Selection graphic card   quite simple: the higher the position in the line, the higher the performance of the graphics chip. When choosing one model from different manufacturers, you should look not only at the cooling system, but also at the video card memory, graphics chip frequency, memory frequency, bus width and possible options   monitor connections.

To build a good gaming computer for games in Full HD format (1920x1080), an NVidia GeForce GTX 1060 / GTX 1070 or AMD Radeon RX 460 / RX 470 video card will suffice. To build an advanced gaming computer that supports Quad HD (2560x1440) and selectable graphic settings   use NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 / AMD Radeon RX 480 cards. And for the most powerful gaming systems with support for multiple monitors or 4K resolution, at least two top-end video cards in SLI or Crossfire bundles will be required.

RAM

RAM (RAM) is designed to store temporary data, such as gaming textures. The current standard of RAM is DDR4. For most modern tasks, from 16 to 32 GB of RAM will be enough, at least - 8 GB.

When choosing a memory based on the volume of each module and its clock frequency. The return on the purchase of high-frequency memory kits is inversely proportional to the investment: with a small increase in performance, the cost of each module will be much higher, the best option: 2400 - 2800 MHz. You should also pay attention to the memory radiators, which may be incompatible with some air processor cooling systems.

When choosing a high-frequency memory kit, you need to look at maximum frequencywhich is supported by the processor. If the memory frequency is higher, it will automatically be reduced to that which the processor is capable of supporting, and the capacity of the RAM will not be fully disclosed.

Solid State and Hard Drives

In the gaming computer, the hybrid system is most often used: on a solid-state (SSD) disk, the system and related programs are installed, and for storing user files it is better to use more capacious and cheap ones hard drives   (HDD).

SSDs come in two types of memory: TLC and MLC. The difference between them is in the way information is stored, but the differences are more important in practice. MLC-memory as a whole is more reliable, has a greater number of rewriting cycles, however, TLC-memory is cheaper and more accessible. Modern solid state drives   are built using 3D NAND technology, and here the line between TLC and MLC memory becomes almost imperceptible - the recording resource and access speed of such drives is higher compared to its predecessors.

This information can be guided when choosing a computer or individual components on the Internet or a regular store.

1. Processor

The speed of the entire computer depends on the processor, so it is selected first. The processors are produced by two large companies, Intel and AMD.

Intel Core processors as a whole have higher performance per core, due to which they are ahead of AMD Ryzen processors in most modern games and are more suitable for building powerful gaming computers.

AMD Ryzen processors, in turn, win in multi-threaded tasks, such as video editing, in principle, are not much inferior to Intel Core in games and are perfect for a universal computer used for both professional tasks and games.

If your budget is limited, but in the future you want to have a powerful PC, then you can first get an inexpensive model, and after 2-3 years, change the processor to a more powerful one.

All processors, regardless of manufacturer, differ in the number of cores, threads, and frequency. In addition, the processor may have an integrated video core, which allows you to save on the purchase of a separate video card, but is not suitable for gaming computers.

For work with documents, the Internet and viewing of video, there will be enough a 2-core processor with a frequency closer to 3 GHz or higher. A particularly advantageous solution would be a modern Pentium processor with multithreading technology (Hyper-threading), which will allow a 2-core processor to process data in 4 threads, significantly increasing performance.

With the advent of such models, more expensive Core i3 processors have lost their relevance, and the Pentium can be considered as a temporary solution even for games, with the prospect of replacing it with a more powerful processor (Core i5, i7) in the future.

A gaming computer needs a minimum 4-core processor with a frequency closer to 3.5 GHz or higher (such as Core i5). Also, modern games have learned to use multi-threading, so for a powerful gaming PC, it is desirable to take Core i7 (8 streams) or Ryzen (8-12 streams) with a frequency closer to 4 GHz.
Intel Core i5-7600

If you want to purchase a productive Core i5 or i7 processor, but as long as you don’t have this option, buy a Pentium 46xx. They are much cheaper and support technology Hyper-threading (2 cores, 4 threads), due to which they are not so far behind their older 4-core counterparts. And in the future you can replace it with a full-fledged Core i5 or i7.

Core i7-7xxx processors, due to support for Hyper-threading (4 cores, 8 threads), are well suited for demanding games and video rendering. But acquiring a Core i7 makes sense mainly for powerful gaming computers.

For video editing and other multithreaded tasks, the optimal choice for today will be Ryzen (12-16 streams) with a frequency closer to 4 GHz, which will also allow you to comfortably play modern games.

2. CPU cooler

To cool the processor, a cooler is used, which consists of a radiator and a fan.

Most of the processors, at the end of the labeling of which the word “BOX” is present, are sold complete with a cooler. But some more expensive boxed processors may not have a cooler included. If “Tray” or “OEM” is written at the end of the labeling, then there is no cooler in the kit.

The weakest processors such as the Pentium are easier and cheaper to purchase complete with a cooler. But a medium or high-end processor is often more profitable to buy without a cooler and select a suitable cooler for it separately. The cost will be about the same, and the cooling and noise level will be much better.

Optimal in terms of price / efficiency ratio today are tower coolers with a 120 mm fan and 4-5 heat pipes made by Zalman and DeepCool.

For more information, see the article and the cooler review on our website.

3. RAM

AT modern computers   DDR4 memory is used with a frequency of predominantly 2400, 2666 and 3000 MHz.

In games, the memory frequency has a small effect and there is no special overpay, it will be enough to take at 2400 MHz, or at 2666 MHz if the price difference is small.

For professional applications, you can take a memory with a frequency higher - 2666 MHz, or if you want, and allow funds at 3000 MHz. There is more difference in performance here than in games, but not cardinal, so there is no special point in driving with the memory frequency.

Note that your motherboard must support the memory of the required frequency. In addition, Intel processors sometimes start to work unstably at a memory frequency above 3000 MHz, while at the Ryzen this limit is about 2900 MHz.

If one memory bar is installed, it will work in single-channel mode, if two bars are in two-channel mode, which significantly increases the memory speed, but costs a little more.

For an office computer with a head, one 4 GB memory bar is sufficient.

For a multimedia PC, 4 GB can be considered as an economical option, with the option to add another 4 GB in the future. But it is better to immediately put 2 strips of 4 GB each (for faster work in dual channel mode).

For a gaming PC, you need at least 8 GB of RAM, and for a powerful gaming system, 16 GB. Here again, if there is enough money, it is better to take a set of 2 strips of 8 GB each at once. If not, one 8 GB bar with the prospect of an upgrade.
HX421C13SBK2 / 8

For professional video editing and other heavy tasks, it is desirable to have from 16 GB of RAM and more. Again, you can immediately take two strips of 8 or 16 GB, and you can take one bar now and one a bit later.

As for radiators, the modern DDR4 RAM with a frequency of 2400, 2666 MHz is practically not heated and the radiators on it will be of a purely decorative nature. So, if you want, you can save on this, for example, by taking the excellent Crucial memory at 2400 MHz without radiators. Memory with a frequency of 3000 MHz also has an increased supply voltage, but it is also not very hot, and in any case there will be radiators on it.

Memory modules are made by many manufacturers and they have different quality. The best memory is produced under the brands: Corsair, Crucial, HyperX. Good and inexpensive manufacturers include: AMD, GeIL, Goodram, G.Skill, Team, Transcend. Samsung and Hynix RAM are very popular, but there are a lot of fakes among it.

4. Video card

The video card is designed primarily for games, but is also used in video processing, accelerating the reproduction of effects during editing and rendering by 5-10 times.

If the computer is needed only for work, Internet and video viewing, then it does not need a separate video card and the processor with the video core will be enough. If the computer is supposed to be used for modern computer games, then one cannot do without a separate video card.

Video cards are developing two large nvidia   and AMD. NVidia video cards are sold under the GeForce brand, and aMD video cards   - under the brand Radeon. Video Cards nVidia GeForce   cost a little more than AMD Radeon, but the price difference is not so significant (10-20%). I recommend nVidia video cards   GeForce, as most games are optimized for them, as a result of which they show higher performance and fewer glitches. In addition, nVidia GeForce video cards are better suited for recording video from the screen, streaming and video editing.

Both GeForce and Radeon video cards produce many companies. I recommend choosing the video cards of the 3 most popular brands that have proven themselves well: ASUS, MSI and Gigabyte.

Modern games require 3-4 GB or more of video memory. The bus width (128-384 bits) has receded into the background today, since modern video cards are equipped with a memory bus with enough bandwidth for each specific video chip. Well, by itself, all modern video cards are equipped with GDDR5 memory or even faster GDDR5X, HBM (top models).

In this article I will not consider all the nuances and technical features of video cards, but I will recommend specific models.

The most affordable option at least today is GeForce.   GTX 1050. But she will draw modern games only on low settings   graphics. As a budget option for playing at medium settings, you can consider GTX 1050 Ti.

Somewhat expensive you can take GTX 1060which is almost 2 times more powerful and this is the most interesting option from the budget series. It will provide a frame rate sufficient for a comfortable game at high settings in modern games. There is a 3 GB version, which is basically enough for most games.

But some games require 4 GB of video memory, so it is better to take the version to 6 GB, which is also 10% more powerful than the processor.

Video card GTX 1070   50% more powerful than the GTX 1060 and will provide a dynamic game at high settings in Full HD in all modern games and will have some reserve for the future. This is the best price / performance option for a powerful gaming computer.

Video card GTX 1080   another 40% more powerful than the GTX 1070 and will provide unsurpassed performance at ultra settings in Full HD and minimally acceptable performance at high settings in 4K. But for a comfortable game in 4K, it is better to purchase 2 such video cards or one more powerful GTX 1080 Ti.

As for video editing, for those who have been in the subject for a long time, it is no secret that using a video card speeds up video rendering by 5-10 times. But this requires the correct graphics card, since not all models can be used for this purpose. The minimum option is the GTX 1060, if you are also interested in games, then you can take the GTX 1070, see for yourself.

More detailed information is in, there is also a unique table for comparing video cards in terms of performance and price, which you can download by.

5. Hard disk

A hard disk (HDD) has a large volume (1-6 TB), but a low speed (120-140 MB / s). It can be used both to install the system and to store user files, which is the most economical option. For most users, there will be enough 1 TB HDD.
ST1000DM003

For a professional or an avid gamer, you may need a disk with a capacity of 2 TB or more, see your needs.

The most reliable HDD are Western digitalAt the same time, they are not significantly different in price from all the others, which is why I recommend them to you.

Wd blue   - the most common drives, suitable for low-cost office and multimedia PC.

Wd black   - combine high speed and reliability, I recommend them to use in powerful systems.

6. SSD disk

Solid state drives (SSD) have a relatively small amount (120-960 GB), but very high speed (450-550 MB / s). They are much more expensive and are used for installation. operating system   and some programs to increase the speed of the computer.

An SSD office computer is not particularly needed, and a little expensive is a pleasure for him. For a multimedia PC, an SSD of 120-128 GB will suffice.
SP550

For a gaming PC, it is desirable to take an SSD with a capacity of 240 GB or more, since games take up quite a lot of space.

On a powerful gaming or professional computer, the best option is to install two disks - a fast SSD and a regular HDD for storing user files.

Among manufacturers SSD drives   Proved well: Samsung, Intel, Crucial, SanDisk, Plextor. As a more budgetary options can be considered: A-DATA, Corsair, GoodRAM, WD, HyperX, as with them there are the least problems.

As for speed, in good fast SSDs it is around 550/550 MB / s (read / write). For budget models it should not be below 450/350 MB / s.

In addition, SSD can be built on a different type of memory. The most budget is TLC. More durable and reliable MLC and 3D Nand, this is better.

7. Optical drive

An optical (DVD) drive is a device for reading and writing CD / DVDs. There are several types of modern optical drives.

DVD-RW (DVD Super Multi)   - The usual recorder, suitable for most computers.

Blu ray   - A more expensive drive for reading and writing Blu-Ray discs, is only needed if you plan to use such discs to view licensed videos or to record a huge amount of data.

Many consider this device obsolete and optional for installation in a modern PC. But I still recommend putting a DVD-drive. Since it is cheap, but it can help out in some situations.

For example, in case of problems install windows   from a flash drive to diagnose and restore the system, install the network card driver from the disk from the motherboard after reinstall windows   (otherwise, you may not have access to the Internet and you will not be able to install any driver).

Yes, and just corny you may need to write something to someone on the disk and give, you will not give your flash drive to everyone.

Choose the most inexpensive model of production LG or ASUS, they practically will not differ in anything.
GH24NSD0

8. Motherboard

All other components are connected to the motherboard and the service life and stability of the computer depends on it. You should not install the most powerful processor on the cheapest motherboard, since the motherboard will not bear the heavy load for a long time. And vice versa, the weakest processor doesn’t need an expensive motherboard, since this is money thrown to the wind.

The most important thing is that the motherboard has a suitable socket for installing the processor (socket). Purchase a motherboard on a socket like the one selected by the processor.

The most modern Intel socket is 1151. Both entry-level processors (Pentium) and more powerful and modern (Core i3, i5, i7) processors are installed on it.

The most modern AMD socket is AM4, on which Ryzen processors are installed.

Each motherboard has its own processor, which controls all the devices connected to it and is called a chipset. The functionality of the motherboard depends on the chipset and it is selected depending on the purpose of the computer.

For most computers with an Intel processor, motherboards fit the B250 and H270 chipsets. MSI H170A PC MATE

Intel Z270 chipset allows you to overclock the processors with the index "K" and supports memory with a frequency above 2400 MHz, which is not available on other chipsets. It is better to take motherboards positioned as gaming (GAMING), which have better sound, network card   and various additional functionality.

Motherboards for AMD Ryzen processors are built on the basis of their chipsets. The A320 chipset does not have the ability to overclock the processor, while the B350 has this functionality. Well, the X370 in the appendage is equipped with a large number of PCI-E lines for installing several video cards.

After selecting a chipset for your needs, you can begin to choose a motherboard based on the connectors you need.

9. Power supply

The power supply must be powerful enough and have a small margin for the computer to work stably. In addition, the power supply must be of high quality, since it greatly depends on the service life of all components of the computer.

If you are building a powerful gaming or professional computer, then the power supply unit is recommended to be purchased separately. If we are talking about an office or multimedia computer, you can save money and buy a good chassis complete with a power supply, which will be discussed in the next section.

A modern high-quality power supply must have at least a simple 80 PLUS certificate. Even better quality - Bronze, Silver, Gold.

For an office computer with enough power 400 watts. I do not recommend it less, as it will be outdated models of dubious quality (unless of course you consider BP expensive brands).

For a multimedia computer, it is desirable to take a power supply with a capacity of 500 watts. It is not expensive, but if you want to install a video card in the future, you will not need to change the power supply. This power is exactly enough for a GTX 1060 graphics card.

For a mid-range gaming computer, it’s better to take a 600-watt power supply with a 80 Plus Bronze certificate. The same power supply is suitable for a professional PC with a powerful processor and a video card of the middle class (GTX 1060/1070).

Well, for a powerful gaming system with a top-end video card, it is advisable to purchase a 700W power supply with a certificate of 80 Plus Gold, since powerful video cards are very sensitive to subsidence and voltage ripple.

The well-known manufacturers of power supplies include: SeaSonic, be quiet! More optimal in terms of price / quality ratio are: Thermaltake, Chieftec, Zalman, Cooler Master, Corsair, Enermax. As more budget options can be considered: AeroCool, Deepcool, FSP, Fractal Design.
Aerocool KCAS-600

More information is in, and you can download the program for calculating the required power.

10. Housing

The case is designed to install all computer components into it, it has a power button, indicators, additional connectors, a ventilation system, and sometimes cable management.

If you build a powerful gaming or professional computer and purchase a separate power supply, then you need a case without a power supply. If you are building an office, multimedia or gaming computer of the middle class, you can save money and purchase a good package with a power supply unit.

For a powerful gaming or professional system, it is better to take a larger room, otherwise there may be problems with the location of the overall components (video card, cooler) and with the organization of normal ventilation inside the case. Also note that the case must support the required length of the video card and the motherboard of the selected format. A full-size ATX card won't fit in the compact MicroATX package.

Good cases produce: be quiet !, Cooler Master, Corsair, Chieftec, Fractal Design, NZXT, Thermaltake, Xigmatek, Zalman. A good value for money have a case AeroCool, Deepcool, InWin. Choose to your taste
AeroCool Aero-800

11. Monitor

For an office computer, the most inexpensive monitor with a screen diagonal of 20-21 ″ with a matte TN matrix will suffice.

For an inexpensive home computer, it is advisable to purchase a monitor with a diagonal of 22-23 ″ with a matte matrix.

For a computer intended for watching movies and games, it is advisable to purchase a monitor with a diagonal of 23-27 ″ (the more the better) with a high-quality IPS or PLS matrix with a response time of no more than 8 ms and a screen resolution of 1920 × 1080 (Full HD).
24MP57HQ

The best manufacturers: Dell, HP and NEC, more budget LG, Samsung and others need to choose carefully. In any case, read reviews and reviews on specific models.

12. Columns

The better the speakers, the better sound   they will issue. For an office computer, the cheapest plastic columns of the Sven or Genius trademarks will suffice.

For an inexpensive home computer, speakers from MDF system 2.0 or 2.1 from Sven will be optimal.
Sven SPS-611S

If you want to get a higher quality, then you can consider speaker systems: Creative, Logitech, Edifier, F & D, Microlab, Sven.

If you want to enjoy surround sound in games and movies, then pay attention to the 5.1 systems of the same brands.

The power of each speaker in the system must be at least 7 watts. If you want a more powerful sound, then about 15 watts. 30 watt speakers each will already sound very loud.

Pay attention to the physical dimensions of the columns, which are listed on the website of the seller and manufacturer. Determine in advance where they will stand.

As for color, the most versatile is black and black and silver. Wood color columns will not always successfully fit into your interior. But it's up to you.

13. Keyboard

From the keyboard depends on the convenience of working with a computer. Any inexpensive but high-quality A4Tech or Genius keyboard is suitable for an office computer.

For a home computer, it is advisable to purchase a more convenient multimedia keyboard with additional buttons and a palm rest. Gaming keyboards can also have programmable and rubberized keys.

The optimal ratio of price / quality keyboard differ (in order of preference): Logitech, A4Tech, Genius.
Logitech g103

There are also many other quality, but more expensive brands: Razer, SteelSeries, etc.

14. Mouse

The convenience of working with a computer also depends on the mouse. Any A4Tech quality mouse is suitable for an office computer.

For a gaming computer, it is desirable to purchase a more comfortable ergonomic mouse with rubberized surfaces and additional buttons.
A4Tech F7 Snake

15. Mouse pad

If you choose a good mouse, then the mat must also be appropriate, as it greatly affects the work of the mouse.

For a gaming computer, I advise A4Tech X7-200 mat or similar, which has a high-quality fabric surface and is perfect for a laser gaming mouse.

It has the same high-quality rubber base and can be washed repeatedly.

16. References

Conventionally, computers can be divided into three categories: office, home and gaming. It is logical that their characteristics will be minimal for the office, medium for the home and high for the game. Well, the price of all this, too, respectively, the more opportunities the higher.
Go to the store, choose the cheapest - here's the easiest office option. Just kidding

So. Let's start with the office computer and see what the office computer should be.

How to choose an office computer?

To begin with, let's define the meaning of “office”, what do I mean by that? I see this computer standing in any organization and office where accountants, managers and just workers work. They do not need high performance. Nowadays on the market you rarely meet computers and their components with requirements for the 2000s. Basically, they solve such tasks as: word processing, viewing mail, accessing the Internet and other simple operations. Let us go directly to their choice.
System unit   - namely, what it should contain.
Approximately the characteristics of a modern office system unit should be as follows:
Processor model: Celeron® G540 or Intel Atom
CPU frequency: 1800 MHz
Video card family: Intel HD Graphics
Video memory capacity: Out of RAM
RAM: 2048 MB
Hard disk capacity: 160 GB
CD / DVD drive: It can be useful
operating system: Without OS
Briefly explain this choice. On such characteristics, the computer will "pull" all office applications, such as Microsoft Office, 1C, clients for work with mail, browsers, etc. The video card is not needed here, there is no work with graphics, but all the same, 2 GB of RAM will be comfortable for work. 160 GB is enough. Well, I leave the choice of the operating system to you (but I would recommend windows XP or windows Corporate).
The price for such a miracle is now about 6-8 thousand rubles.

Monitor   - now you will not find lamp monitors, all go LCD which is good. It remains only a choice for the diagonal. The minimum for today is 18.5 dumas. Price from 3 thousand rubles.
Keyboard and mouse   - ordinary office without additional buttons. Just perform your functions. Price for the clave and the mouse will be on average 300 rubles

Total: having in the budget of 10 thousand rubles you can quite get office computer.

How to choose home computer?

This question is already interesting. My home computer assumes: work with documents, work with images, games, access to the Internet, well, and something else ... For such a computer, you already need something more, both in terms of characteristics and additional technology. So let's start quickly.
System unit   - the most important part of the question, here I will give the necessary average set, but you should always remember that in SLK = learn why you can upgrade it.
Approximate average characteristics of the system unit for home use:

Motherboard an inexpensive one will do, the main thing is that the socket on it is just for the processor that you are going to install, the slots for the RAM should have the DDR3 standard, and the video card is either separate (discrete), or the motherboard must support the expansion of the video card — that is, an additional slot under the video card, in addition to the integrated video card.
The best in the opinion of most users are Asus motherboards. The company is very popular, its products are of high quality and cheap at the same time. To build a computer based on Intel processors, such models are quite suitable:
ASUS P8H61 iH61 DDR3 ATX (approximately 2000 rubles)
ASUS P8P67 iP67 DDR3 ATX (approximately 6,500 rubles)
ASUS P8P67-M PRO P67 DDR3 mATX (approximately 3,500 rubles)
Their prices vary slightly, but their quality is beyond the doubt of millions of users.

CPU. Here it is easier, it remains only to choose Intel or AMD. Of course, it's a matter of taste, but Intel processors are more suitable for a home computer. They do an excellent job with multitasking. Their prices are very different, but such models (LGA1155 socket) are quite suitable for a home computer, such as:
INTEL Pentium G850 2.9GHz VGA 5GTs 3MB 65W (approximately 2,600 rubles)
INTEL i3-2100 3.1GHz VGA 5GTs 3MB 65W Box (approximately 3,600 rubles)
INTEL Core i5-2320 BOX 3.0–3.3GHz 5GTs 6MB 95W (approximately 5,800 rubles)
All of them are high-performance and allow you to work normally with heavy applications and play powerful games.

Video card. There are several clear leaders here: Asus, HIS, PALIT. The best in this price segment are:
PCI-E HIS Radeon HD 6850 Fan 1GB GDDR5 DVI HDMI (approximately 5300 rubles)
PCI-E HIS Radeon HD6670 1GB GDDR5 DVI HDMI (about 2500 rubles)
PCI-E ASUS HD7750 / 1GD5 1G GDDR5 (128-bit) HDMI DVI DP (about 3000 rubles)
PCI-E PALIT GF GTX 550Ti 1GB GDDR5 DVI HDMI (approximately 3,500 rubles)
The forums are simply crammed with admiring user reviews of these devices.

RAM   need standard DDR3. It is best to immediately take two strips of 4GB, such as
DDR3 4GB TRANSCEND PC3-12800 JetRam 1600MHz (approximately 1000 rubles)
or two, three or even four 2GB bars:
DDR3 2GB OCZ PC3-10666 (OCZ3G1333LV2G) 9-9-9-20 Gold Series. (about 800 rubles)
All memory is stable and fast. But do not forget that if you install 4GB-8GB of RAM, then the operating system must be 64-bit - 32-bit versions that do not see more than 3GB.

HDD - Choose the repository of all information to your taste. Recently, discs with a capacity of 1000 GB or 1 TB, which are relatively inexpensive and allow you to store a lot of information, are relevant. The best:
3.5 "SATA 1.0TB SAMSUNG SpinPoint F3 (HD103SJ) 7200RPM 32MB (approximately 2000 rubles)
3.5 "SATA 1.0TB SEAGATE Barracuda Green (ST1000DL002) 5900RPM 32MB (approximately 2500 rubles)
all others are no different.

Optical drive   - it’s up to you whether you need it or not. You can choose any, but I would recommend Samsung or Pioneer. The price for them is about 1000 rubles.

Sound card   - in principle, a fairly simple and reliable one, for example ASUS Xonar DSX for 2000 rubles, will do.

Card reader   - instead of FDD (floppy disk drive for reading floppy disks), you stick this thing right away and forget about the impossibility of working with memory cards. The price is about 1000 rubles.
Monitor   - I recommend that way inches at least 20. Of the firms would recommend BENQ. Issue price - about 4000 rubles.
Keyboard and mouse   - here as you yourself want, with or without additional keys, which design, which company, wireless ... in general, on average, you can spend that way 1,500 rubles. I have a mouse A4Tech XL-750BH and keyboard unpretentious Genius KB-M220.
Web camera   - any, even with a built-in microphone and backlight, even the simplest, most important resolution is at least 1.3 MPx. Approximately 1500 rubles. This is if you take with a microphone, backlight, mount on the monitor. There are options for 300 rubles, there are also for 8000. You decide, I have Defender G-lens 2552 for 500 rubles I took something, I already forgot how much it costs, but there are definitely no more than 2 years and no complaints.
Headphones   - it happens that we need it. The main choice is whether you need a microphone with them and what kind of ear pads there are (so that they are not rigid). The price is about 800 rubles.
Columns   - for a house it is normal even when there are just 2. I have a Genius SP-S350 for 500 rubles somewhere. Here it is up to you to decide for what purposes. Since I listen to only one and I do not need to entertain guests, then these are quite suitable.

Total: a home computer will cost you at least 20 thousand rubles.

Here it is already fun. There is plenty of choice, the main thing is not to be mistaken. A friend of mine gathered a couple of months ago just a super-gaming gaming computer for 43,000. But here you should know that he collected everything himself, or rather picked up everything to system unit   knowingly and the rest of the periphery, too, only for their own needs.
Here I will give free rein to my imagination and assemble a gaming computer for myself ...
System unit:
CPU: IntelCorei7-2600K (approximately 9000 rubles)
Cooler: ZalmanCPNS10XPerforma (approximately 1000 rubles)
Motherboard: GigabyteGA-Z68X-UD3-B3 (approximately 4500 rubles)
Memory: KingstonValueRAM 2x4 GB (approximately 1,200 rubles)
Video card: PalitGeForce GTX 570 Sonic Platinum (approximately 11,000 rubles)
Solid state drive: Intel SSDSC2CW060A3K5 60 GB (approximately 3,400 rubles)
HDD: WDCaviarGreen 2000 GB (approximately 2400 rubles)
Drive unit: DVD-RW ToshibaSamsungSH-222AB (approximately 600 rubles)
Housing: Cooler MasterHAF 932 Advanced USB 3.0 (ATX) (about 6,000 rubles)
Power Supply: ChieftecNitro85 + BPS-750C (approximately 3400 rubles)
Sound card: Creative X-Fi Titanium HD (approximately 5,800 rubles)

Total 48300 rubles.
Oh, and I sold. The configuration is certainly worthwhile, but with some aspects you can argue. Yes, and you can collect cheaper.
Now I want to explain my choice a little.
The older Intel processor carries the “K” index, meaning the unlocked multiplier and, therefore, not only the officially allowed overclocking, but also the lightest. The cooling and cooling of its four cores is provided by the quiet and very strong Zalman cooler, which received very good marks in the testing process. The amount of RAM was increased to 8 GB, however, there is no great need for practice so far, but as they say, the stock does not pull the pocket.
The selected motherboard is based on the IntelZ68 chipset, which allows it to use cheap small SSDs for caching the main drive. In addition, of course, it has all the necessary attributes of the newest motherboard: the full range of connectors, including USB 3.0, a fairly large number of USB 2.0 ports, 2 PCIExpressx16 slots - if you decide to install a second video card.
The video card is the Palit GeForceGTX 570 SonicPlatinum model, a slightly overclocked version of the almost top NVIDIA chip: only the GTX 580 is better. For those who are fans of AMD products, there is a possibility to replace the card with the RadeonHD 6970, which is very close in price and performance.
The Z68 chipset simply forces us to add to the SSD system - in order not to heavily load your wallet, I added only an inexpensive 60 GB drive. It is needed more in order to put an operating system on it and for all processes to be much faster than if it was installed on a regular hard disk.
From the cases I chose a heavy, large, very black and durable CoolerMaster HAF 932 Advanced, which in latest version I got a couple of USB 3.0 connectors on the front case panel. The accompaniment is the ChieftecNitro 85+ power supply, which is a model with a significant set of loops, excellent efficiency and a quiet fan.
If you want to make this system cheaper, you can significantly reduce its cost by replacing the power supply with an InWinIW-MG134 chassis and removing the SSD and Corei7-2600K processor - it can be replaced with a much cheaper, but also very fast and suitable for overclocking Corei5-2500K.
There is an option that you want more, then you should think about changing the video card to GeForceGTX 580, as well as installing an SSD having a volume of 80-120 GB, abandoning SmartResponce technology and installing not only the operating system, but also the applications and programs you use completely on SSD.
Sound Card Creative X-Fi Titanium HD is suitable for listening to music and movies, and for games.

Monitor: either 24-inch for 5000 or 27 for 8000. On it and play well and watch movies.

Keyboard   - The leaders among the gaming devices are SteelSeries and Razer. And the price of their keyboard starts from 2000 rubles. But I would have taken the Challenger Ultimate Tt eSPORTS by Thermaltake Gaming keyboard for about the same amount. Even show a picture. Beauty and good reviews.

Mouse   - the same leaders as the keyboards. Prices from 1200 rubles. But I have a mouse from A4Tech XL-750BH. I have already used 6 years of the similar X710 and just recently bought this one (that cord is too thin, but it still did not break) and costs 500 rubles and suits everyone.
Web camera   - here I really do not know whether it is necessary for the Hemer, but still useful. You can proceed from the principles of choice that described above (about home PC).
Headphones   - I recommend immediately SteelSeries. I will not even write anything else. Only a picture skins. (2000 rubles)

Columns   - well. To chic so chic. We stop at the 5in1 system (especially sound card   this will allow). I advise you to look at the Microlab FC 730 for 5000 rubles)

Total all together to buy a gaming computer you need at least 50 thousand rubles.

That's all for it. Who has questions and wishes - write comments.
