What to install on a new computer first. How to install the program on your computer

If you are just starting to master a computer and do not even know yet, how to install the program, then I'm sure after reading this article you will no longer have any questions on this topic. The installation of various programs may be different, but it is almost everywhere the same, and in fact, it is much easier to install the program than some beginners think at the beginning of their journey.

In general, it should be said that if nothing is done, but simply follow the usual instructions in the windows when installing programs, that is, simply click the available buttons: "Next", "Next" or "OK", then you can easily install the program. But we decided to learn, right? And we need to know what actions lead to when installing programs.

Installing programs. Example!

Now, with the example of installing a real program, let's look at how this is done correctly.

Afterwards from the Internet or from some disk, we usually have a file on the computer.

The first thing you need to do is double-click the left mouse button. We will open the first window. In 99% of cases this window is " The Installation Wizard", Where we are welcomed. There we can see the name of the program, and sometimes we are reminded that before the installation it is desirable to close other applications. In this window we need to click the "Next" button.

Almost always when installing programs, we need to tick the " I accept the terms of the license agreement", Well, that means that we agree with the rules for using this program. Here is an example:

The next window that is always present during installation is the folder selection. During the installation of the program, a window should appear, which will indicate where the files will be copied for its full operation.

Typically, the program is installed on system disk  "C" to the "Program Files" folder. You, of course, can change this path by clicking the "Browse" button and selecting the folder where you want install the program. I usually leave as is, that is by default! And all the installed software I have is in the folder "Program Files" on the drive "C".

Very often when installation free programs , a set of us trying to install some more additional applications, or change start page in the browser. Pay attention to this, and if you do not need such add-ons, then remove the extra tick, and then click "Next".

Another window that is always present, and usually after the installation of the program - a window in which it is necessary to leave a tick in front of the items that interest us. For example, it could be creating a shortcut on the desktop, or a folder with a program in the Start menu and so on. Read and everything will be clear.

The most important stage is yourself, during which the necessary files are copied.

In the last window, after everything has been copied and installed, we are offered to press the "Finish" button and the program will start if we do not remove the corresponding checkmark.

Now the main windows that appear when software installation. In different cases, they may differ, but the essence remains the same. Also there are other moments: windows with the choice of the language of the program, installation of the add-on, where you need to remove the tick, etc.

Already after installing 5-10 different programs, thoughtfully and independently, you will no longer have questions in which window what to do, and roughly speaking the brain itself will work out the necessary actions.

And on the desktop, there is usually a shortcut to launch the installed program.

I continue to write instructions for novice users. Today, let's talk about how to install programs and games on a computer, depending on what kind of program it is, and in what form it is present.

In particular, in order will be set out how to establish software, downloaded from the Internet, programs from the disk, as well as talk about software that does not require installation. If you suddenly find something incomprehensible due to poor familiarity with computers and operating systems, feel free to ask in the comments below. I can not answer right away, but during the day I usually answer.

How to install the program from the Internet

Note: this article will not deal with applications for the new interface Windows 8 and 8.1, the installation of which comes from the application store and does not require any special knowledge.

The easiest way to get the right program is to download it from the Internet, besides, you can find many legal and free programs on the network for all occasions. In addition, many use torrent () to quickly download files from the network.

It is important to know that it is best to download programs only from the official websites of their developers. In this case, you are more likely not to establish yourself unnecessary components and do not get viruses.

Programs downloaded from the Internet are usually in the following form:

  • File with the extension ISO, MDF and MDS - these files represent images dVDs, CD or Blu-ray, that is, a "snapshot" of a real CD in one file. About how to use them we'll talk later, in the section about installing programs from the disk.
  • A file with the extension exe or msi, which is a file for installation, containing all the necessary components of the program, or the Web Installer, which after downloading loads everything you need from the network.
  • A file with the extension zip, rar or another archive. Typically, this archive contains a program that does not require installation and just run it by unpacking the archive and finding in the folder the startup file, which is usually named program_name.exe, or in the archive you can find the kit for installing the necessary software.

On the first option, I'll write in the next subsection of this manual, and start immediately with files that have the extension .exe or .msi.

Exe and msi files

After downloading this file (assuming you downloaded it from the official site, otherwise such files may be dangerous), you just need to find it in the Downloads folder or somewhere else where you normally download files from the Internet and start. Most likely, right after the start, the process of installing the program on the computer will begin, as you will be informed by such phrases as "Setup Wizard", "Setup wizard", "Installation" and others. To install the program on the computer, simply follow the instructions of the installation program. Upon termination, you will receive the installed program, shortcuts in the Start menu and on the desktop (Windows 7) or on the initial screen (Windows 8 and Windows 8.1).

A typical program installation wizard on a computer

If you run the downloaded file from the network.exe, but no installation process started, but just started desired program, this means that you do not need to install it to make it work. You can move it to a folder convenient for you on the disk, for example Program Files and create a shortcut for quick launch from the desktop or the Start menu.

Zip and rar files

Program in the archive.zip

After unpacking the archive (usually, there is a folder with the name of the program and the files and folders contained in it), find in it the file to start the program, which usually carries the same extension.exe. Also, you can create a shortcut for this program.

Most often, programs in archives work without installation, but if the installation wizard starts after unpacking and launching, just follow its instructions, as in the variant described above.

How to install the program from disk

If you bought a game or program on disk, and also if you downloaded an ISO or MDF file from the Internet, the procedure is as follows:

An ISO or MDF image file must first be mounted on the system, which means connection this file  so that Windows sees it as a disk. You can read more about how to do this in the following articles:

Note: if you are using Windows 8 or Windows 8.1, then to mount iSO image  just right click on this file and select "Connect", as a result, in the Explorer you can see the "inserted" virtual disk.

Installing from disk (real or virtual)

If there is no disk insertion automatic start  installation, then just open its contents and find one of the files: setup.exe, install.exe or autorun.exe and run it. Then you just need to follow the instructions of the installation program.

The contents of the disk and the file to install

One more note: if you have Windows 7, 8, or another operating system on the disk or image, then, firstly, it's not really a program, and secondly, they are installed in several other ways, detailed instructions  you will find here: Installing Windows.

How to find out which programs are installed on the computer

After you install this or that program (it does not concern programs that work without installation), it puts its files in a certain folder on the computer, creates entries in the Windows registry, and can also perform other actions on the system. You can see the list established programs, performing the following sequence of actions:

  • Press the Windows keys (with the emblem) + R, in the window that appears, type appwiz.cpl  and click Ok.
  • Before you will appear a list of all installed programs (and not only you, but also the computer manufacturer) programs.

Hey. Sitting today, I thought that it would be so interesting and useful to write in your own. I went to Yandex Wordstat, this is a service from Yandex for viewing keywords, more precisely to view the number of a specific request per month. I wrote "How to install"  and began to look through the requests.

I saw one interesting query "How to install the program" hits per month 36226, it's not a lot, but still people are looking for and so this article will be useful.

So I decided to write a small post on this topic. Why small? Yes, because in fact there is nothing to write :).

Before writing about how to install the program downloaded from the Internet. I would like to clarify something and advise you. To clarify, I wanted what I will consider an example on the Windows operating system. No matter which version, just in the same Linux installation programs are slightly different.

And I would like to advise the following:  If you need some kind of program. For example Mozilla or QIP, then try to download from official sites. All this for security reasons, so as not to pick up some kind of infection in the form. In Windows 8, they seem to promise their application store, and that would be very cool. Of course, on one condition, that it will be normally done. Simply when you download the program from some "left" site or torrent, then it can safely hide a virus that, when installed, will necessarily settle on your computer. It's like everything, now to the main part of the article.

How to install the program?

Programs for operating system  Windows basically comes with the extension .exe, for example WinRAR.exe. All you need is just to run this installation file  and follow the instructions. When I started writing this article, I thought to give an example of installing a program with screenshots. And then I thought that almost all the programs differ in the installation process, and such instruction would be of little use.

Typically, the installation of the program takes place in this order:

  1. Run the installation file. The installation file itself can be hidden in a .rar or .zip archive. Therefore, first open the archive and then run the installation file.
  2. Accept the license agreement and click "Next".
  3. Select the components you want to install (not in all programs).
  4. Let's choose a place on the computer where to install the program. By default, in most cases, it is installed in C: \\ Program Files \\. If you are installing a large game, I advise you not to put it on the C drive, it is advisable to replace it with a D or E disk. Click "Next" or "Install".
  5. Still it is possible the installation manager will offer to choose whether to create shortcuts on the desktop and a folder in the start menu, here already tick the checkboxes at will.
  6. Further it is necessary to wait a little (depends on the size of the program) and all will be established. But still different programs are installed differently, but the scheme is usually similar to the one that I described.

The installed program, more precisely the shortcut for its launch should be searched on the desktop or in the "Start", "All programs".

How to install the program on a computer? Very often asked question. Often, such questions are asked by newcomers, those people who, for whatever reason, have just started using the computer. As you know, to start working on the PS, you first need to learn how to install the program for work. There are millions of such programs: Microsoft Office, 1s, ABBYY FineReader, Adobe Acrobat, etc. In this article, we'll show you how to install the program on a computer with Windows OS, and all the possible difficulties when installing.

If you independently learn how to install the program,

then you do not have to spend any time on the call of the system administrator, nor money, but quite can cope with any office program. Any computer program, (except for some), needs to be installed. "Just copying the program ..." does not mean that it will work. It needs to be installed. When the program is installed, it does a lot of different operations: copies its files to the working directory (the default is Program Files) on the hard disk. Further he adds the information necessary for his robot to the system windows Registry. Then install additional libraries and extensions. Then he creates shortcuts and additional folders.

Previously it was necessary to do all these operations manually ... But now, almost all developers make their products so that even the most novice user could install the program. To do this, the installation wizard has been added to the installation package. He will perform all the operations for you! Therefore, it will not be difficult to install the program at all. All you need is to run the installation wizard and follow its instructions.

Typically, each step of the installation describes in detail. But there are times when installing the program all in English ... I think this is not quite an insurmountable difficulty, rather an inconvenience.

  • And so you have a folder with the program that you need to install on your computer. Open it and run a file called Setup.exe or Install.exe - often such names have the installation wizard file.
  • The first two windows tell us about the product, its requirements and the license agreement. Click the Next or Next button.
  • The next window asks us to fill out the form. Often this is the username and the organization. When installing different programs, this form may change.
  • Next, select the folder in which our program will be installed. The default is C: \\ Program Files. I do not recommend changing it, but sometimes there are cases when the C: \\ drive is full, in which case you can click the "Browse or Browse" button, and then select another drive. But it's better to install by default.
  • In the next window, choose whether we need to create shortcuts for quick launch and for the desktop. Determine and click the "Next" button.
  • After that, we'll see the line for installing the program, the progress of which is visible on the screen with the scale in percent. After installation, the program prompts you to click "Finish". That's basically it.

On the desktop should appear the shortcuts of the program we just installed, if they do not exist - go to the Start menu - All Programs and search there. I want to remind you that if you install the program on a computer, and some installation points are not as in the article, just read what is on it and click next.

From personal experience I can say that when you install the program on your computer problems often begin when you register, where the program asks for a username and password / key / serial number. You can get them, as a rule, from the developer, naturally for money. But folk craftsmen come up with all sorts of Keygen, Serial, Crack.   But when checking the tax service, such a license will not pass. I wish you every success in installing the program!
