Russification is possible only after installing a third-party firmware called JailBreak. This firmware, most likely, will neither remove nor add a single one to the functionality of your kindel new function... It will only allow you to add an additional interface language.

Rooting Amazon Kindle Fire
Step one: Download and install the Android SDK. You may need a JDK, but the installer will tell you where to get it. Go to the tablet settings, then Device, and allow installation from unfamiliar sources (Allow Instalation of Applications From Unknow Sources). Next, in the built-in browser, type the root explorer apk (an amateur application is the first thing I found). Download, install and run. Go to the System \\ App folder and run the Superuser.apk application there.
Voila - applications can now get root access to the system.
Installing Russian keyboard and locale in Amazon Kindle Fire
In principle, when I bought Fire, I did not expect to see Russian localization, but the hope of seeing the possibility of switching to the Russian layout died at the moment when the tablet had already fallen into my hands.But having root access, changing the default keyboard does not present any problem.
First, download a keyboard that supports changing layouts. Again, you will not find such joy in your native Amazon Market, but after a little googling I found Hacker's keybord apk. Unfortunately after apk installation nothing happened, as there was a default application without changing the layout - and it remained. There is no way to change the keyboard application by simply changing the settings.
To install a keyboard with the ability to change the layout, we need:
- Amazoon Kindle Fire with root access;
- Program for wiFi tablet Transport (available in the Amazon market);
- The program on the Root Explorer tablet (where to get it, see above);
Having installed the above programs, we will start Russification.
Step one: Launch Root Explorer, go to the /data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases folder
and copy the settings.db file to the clipboard. Then go to the / sdcard / download folder and paste it there.
Step two: We launch WiFi Transport and connect via ftp to the tablet and copy the settings.db file to the computer.
Step three: Having previously saved a copy of settings.db in a safe place, we proceed to editing using SQLite. Go to the Browse Data tab, select the secure table. We need fields named enable_input_methods and default_input_method... By default there will be com.android.inputmethod.latin / .LatinIME... For Hacker's Keyboard, change the values \u200b\u200bto org.pocketworkstation.pckeyboard / .LatinIME... Save the file and upload it back to the tablet.

Hacking the Kindle 4 reader
The reader received current version firmware, but that's not all. Now we have to force the Kindle to accept programs that were not originally intended for it. Otherwise, Russification and reading fb2 will not take place. In order for the device to get full functionality, you need to play the role of a hacker and hack the device for a couple of minutes. Let's do that. Download the archive ( http://yadi.sk/d/y2c-AUi51gntc) ... Unpack it anywhere. From there we need to take the data.tar.gz archive, the ENABLE_DIAGS file, the diagnostic_logs folder. Copy them to the Kindle memory without making folders on the device. Unplug the cable and restart the device (menu-settings-menu-restart). The reader will reboot to the text menu. Use the joystick to navigate it to point D) Exit, Reboot or Disable Diags. Select it (joystick left or right). In the submenu, you will see the logical items of the reboot system, after selecting it, the device asks if it understood you correctly. Choose to continue. The Kindle will finally agree with you by going into a reboot. For a few seconds, the Jailbreak text, familiar to all iPhone owners, will freeze on the screen. The reader will show the text menu on the screen again. It is clear that even a jailbroken device cannot be used in diagnostic mode, so we force the Kindle to go into a standard state. It remains to customize the fully functional program to your liking. Launch CR3 Runner, go to menu-settings. By manipulating the joystick, get to the language settings (press down, the center button, confirm the transition to Russian). Now we go back through home-menu-close. By re-running the program, you will see that everything has become clearer and more pleasant - we are greeted by a Russian-language menu. After going to the same menu, press the joystick to the right, there is a tab "Page" and "Styles". Adjust the font size, line spacing, as you like. All settings are made with a joystick, which is not surprising, since there is no touch screen. You can apply the changes made if the cursor is not on the numbers in the windows. Just press Home.
The last thing we do today would upset Amazon. All of the $ 69 e-readers come with ads that don't get boring as they act as screensavers. Since, as already mentioned, our countries are not included in the number of eligible customers of the online store, advertising does not help the company to sell, and we - to buy. So, having tampered with Kindle 4, we made it more interesting for people who speak Russian. Nothing else prevents us from enjoying reading.
