When the iphone 3g came out. What year was the iPhone released ...: an overview of all iPhones by year. The screen of a mobile device is characterized by its technology, resolution, pixel density, diagonal length, color depth, etc.

The iPhone 3G arrived. The phone got a new body, the phone started working in 3G networks and got a built-in GPS-module. In 2009, a modernized version of the iPhone appeared, called the iPhone 3GS. The "S" added to the abbreviation stood for "speed" - the phone received a new faster processor and expanded RAM.

iPhone 3G

From 2008 to 2009, one of the most popular and hit phones in the world was produced. The popularity of this model was ensured by the successful combination of design, workmanship and functionality, this hit called the iPhone 3G.

The brilliant, high-contrast display with multi-touch technology allows you to quickly and easily control your phone functions. This is facilitated by the UNIX operating system iPhone OS (iOS), with an intuitive interface and control even for a child.

The phone is equipped with all the necessary functions. Among them: a GPS receiver, a Wi-Fi module, a full-fledged MP3 player iPod, as well as an incredibly wide platform, the possibilities of which are expanded thanks to various applications from the special App Store. iPhone supports all modern communication standards, and can work with any operator in any country in the world.

The design of the iPhone is what sets it apart from all other phones. Stylish and graceful, this is how you can describe the appearance of the device. Due to the balanced design, the phone is really suitable for everyone, both businessmen and schoolchildren - everyone will find something unique and unique in it. IPhone 3G requires only one key button to operate, unlike other touchscreen phones.

The body of the phone is made of high quality hard and lightweight materials. The screen is protected by a glass panel that is able to withstand much more impact than its plastic counterpart used in most other phones.

iPhone 3G is one of the best solutions of its time, perfectly adding to our whole bouquet of modern technologies.

iPhone 3GS

iPhone 3GSthis is an improved version of the iPhone 3G. The prefixed S stands for Speed. The difference between them is only in hardware acceleration - 3GS hardware is much more powerful than 3G. It was this technical improvement that allowed the iPhone 3GS to work noticeably (about 2 times) faster than its older brother.

In addition to the tangible speed of work, the new processor and RAM provided the iPhone 3GS with full-fledged operation of the latest mobile operating system - iOS 4. Thanks to it, the 3GS has the long-awaited multitasking, which, at times, was not enough, as well as about 50 more different functions and extensions of the standard features that are not available when using iOS 4 on iPhone 3G.

Documentation

12 years have passed since the release. During this period, the "apple" company has managed to develop and release more than two dozen models of communicators. We invite you to recall the chronology of releases of iPhone smartphones together, noting the characteristic differences between each of the devices.

iPhone 2G or which iPhone was released in 2007

In January 2007, Apple introduced its first communicator - iPhone 2G, - different from competitors' products with its stylish design and powerful hardware and software content.

The work of the Cupertinians was appreciated - the smartphone of the "apple" company has achieved significant popularity in the market of mobile devices.

If you ever come across this already rarity model, you can recognize it by the following signs: the device has a small size, a 3.5-inch display, a black front panel and a silver metal cover with a black plastic insert. The RAM of this little miracle was calculated at only 128 MB, while the amount of flash memory depended on the configuration and ranged from 4 to 16 GB.

Steve Jobs's Legendary iPhone 2G Presentation:

iPhone 3GS, or which iPhone was released in 2009

For the first time comes a smartphone model with a mysterious letter "S" in the name. Apple, wishing to keep the intrigue, refuses to give a decryption of the symbol, but after eight years we can assume that this mysterious "S" is short for "Special" or "Second edition". The iPhone 3GS model differs from the 3G mainly by hardware and software updates and the appearance of a version with 32 GB of internal memory. You can distinguish the novelty from its predecessor only by the marking on the rear panel: the 2008 device has a matte marking color, while the 2009 gadget has a bright white.

iPhone 4, or which iPhone came out in 2010

This year, the smartphone form factor has been significantly redesigned for the first time. The iPhone 4 has a sleek new design, a 3.5-inch Retina display, and has traditionally been equipped with the latest hardware and updated software. The color scheme of the devices remained the same: the gadgets were produced only in black and white.

iPhone 4 was the last Apple smartphone to be introduced by Steve Jobs.

iPhone 4s, or which iPhone was released in 2011

In 2011, the release of the iPhone 4s smartphone took place. This model is almost outwardly identical to the previous one, the gadgets differ only in the number of antennas for receiving the signal and their location: the iPhone 4 has three of them, and one is located on the upper end of the device, and the iPhone 4s has four of these elements and they are located symmetrically on the side edges. Also this year, a complete set with 64 GB of internal memory on board is available.

iPhone 5, or which iPhone came out in 2012

2012 marked the arrival of the iPhone 5. And again, the design was changed, the display increased from 3.5 to 4 inches, the rear glass panel was replaced by a metal one, a Lightning connector and support for nano SIM were added.

iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c, or which iPhones were released in 2013

Contrary to tradition, two models are released at once: iPhone 5c and iPhone 5s. The innovations in the first model are limited to hardware improvements to the iPhone 5, additional color options and a plastic case.

As for the iPhone 5s smartphone, its design has hardly changed compared to its predecessor, but an important element has appeared - a Touch ID fingerprint scanner built into the Home button.

iPhone 6, or which iPhone came out in 2014

This year, Apple's management decided to launch two smartphone models in parallel: a regular one and one with a larger screen diagonal. At the presentation, the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 and 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus were presented. Changes were made to the design again, the features of the devices became softer, streamlined, new color options were added.

iPhone 6s, or which iPhone was released in 2015

In 2015, the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus were released. Externally, they can be distinguished from the previous year's models only by the letter "S" engraved on the back panel. From the seemingly imperceptible, but important features of the new products, we can call the presence of a screen with 3D Touch technology (sensitive to pressure).

iPhone SE, iPhone 7, or which iPhones came out in 2016

At the beginning of 2016, the iPhone SE unexpectedly appears, the design of which is borrowed from the iPhone 5s, and the hardware is from the iPhone 6s.

You can distinguish the new product from the 2013 model by the engraved SE sign on the back of the gadget.

In the fall of 2016, the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus were released. Outwardly, they are not particularly different from the models of the previous year, except that once again new colors were added.

In addition, the iPhone 7 Plus has a main dual camera.

A characteristic feature of the new products is the absence of a 3.5 mm audio jack and the movement of signal reception antennas to the ends of the devices. Plus, a complete set with 256 GB of internal memory has become available.

ON THIS TOPIC:

iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus released in 2017

Already a few months before the presentation of smartphones in 2017, it was known that Apple will show three devices for the first time at once - a flagship with top-end characteristics and unique functions, as well as as a logical continuation of the line of 4.7- and 5.5-inch devices.

The event took place, located at the company's new headquarters. Apple executives on the stage kept the illusion of intrigue to the last, and the audience tried not to yawn in anticipation of "One more thing." Nevertheless, Phil Schiller managed to attract the attention of the audience to the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus from the first seconds of his speech.

The main feature of the "eights" design was the glass back panel, which made it possible to implement the wireless charging function. Otherwise, the appearance of smartphones has remained practically unchanged in comparison with 2016, and only a rare iPhone 6 case will not fit the iPhone 8.

How the iPhone 8 looks different from previous iPhone models

In addition, the range of cases has been reduced from six to three colors - silver, gold and space gray.

The performance of the iPhone 8/8 Plus is powered by Apple's once again evolved processor. The A10 Fusion was replaced by a 70% faster 6-core A11 Bionic, and the M11 Motion co-processor replaced the M10 predecessor, respectively. The graphics chip has also been updated - the iPhone 8 uses the first GPU created by Apple engineers, which is 30% more efficient than the iPhone 7.

The screen, cameras and peripherals have changed only slightly. It is possible to highlight the technology already mentioned above, the 4-diode flash of the main camera, Bluetooth 5.0, a function that is a system that adapts the screen glow to ambient lighting.

It became a real challenge for Apple: the company had to solve many problems that arose when working with the first iPhone in record time and develop a device that could conquer the most demanding mobile users accustomed to the most modern technologies - for example, in Japan.

In just a year, Apple really managed to do it: the new iPhone 3G became one of the company's best products. However, he also had several shortcomings.

Design

The design of the iPhone is directly related to the large touchscreen display, so Apple did not have to reinvent the wheel and redesign the design of the new iPhone 3G. The device is almost indistinguishable from the traditional iPhone, except, perhaps, a wider body and a modified back cover.

In addition, the body of the device is a few millimeters thicker (12.3 mm versus 11.6 mm) due to the fact that the new iPhone supports GPS and 3G. The body of the touchphone is entirely made of high-quality glossy plastic.

Some might think that compared to the old iPhone, which had metal casing, the new plastic iPhone 3G looks cheap. However, the one-piece body of the new iPhone looks much more stylish and, moreover, is more comfortable in the hand, does not slip out.

However, the plastic case can still be a problem for the owners of the traditionally black iPhone (remember, the iPhone 3G came out in black and white). All fingerprints are visible on the smooth black surface, and the case will lose its appeal in just a few days. The white model with 16GB of memory is more expensive, but there will be fewer problems with the case.

Scratches on the new iPhone 3G can be as easy as on any other plastic phone, so you should avoid the proximity of the touchphone with sharp objects (for example, keys).

Key benefits of the new iPhone 3G:

  • Most convenient OS for internet browsing and media
  • Support for 3G networks
  • Improved sound quality
  • Design changes make the phone easier to hold in your hand
  • Phone functions have been significantly expanded thanks to new software

The main disadvantages of the iPhone 3G:

  • The use of 3G has significantly reduced battery life, the phone needs almost daily recharging
  • Still no MMS and voice dialing
  • Camera leaves a lot to be desired
  • Fingerprints and scratches are visible on the black case

    Contents of delivery

During the introduction of the iPod music player to the market, Apple tried to complete the device with everything necessary in order to gain customer acceptance and stand out from the numerous player manufacturers. Over time, the iPod's equipment became less and less impressive. Now it has come to the point that the box with the player contains only a USB cable and a case. The first generation of the iPhone went on sale in pretty good equipment - in the box was a power adapter and a stylish, desktop dock. This gave hope to fans of "apple" products that Apple intends to pay more attention to the delivery set of its devices.

However, the iPhone 3G shows that Apple continues to follow the previously beaten track - poorer equipment for a lot of money. So in the box with the iPhone 3G, the buyer will no longer find a stylish docking station, which is now offered separately for $ 29. The standard dock looks less presentable, but it takes up less space, which is a definite plus. In addition to the power adapter, the box with the "apple" contains regular stereo headphones and a USB cable.

    3G: the biggest improvement

One of the most significant iPhone innovations is 3G support. In addition, the speed of data transmission in 2G networks has also increased. On average, the data transfer rate of original iPhone owners did not exceed 133 Kb / s, which is only twice as much as dial-up. However, the data transfer rate of the new iPhone 3G is much higher and ranges from 800 Kb / s to 1.1 Mb / s. It should be noted, however, that these indicators are highly dependent on the capabilities of the mobile operator.

Thanks to the increased speed, surfing the Internet has become much more convenient. Of course, when you go online with an iPhone 3G, you won't be able to forget about the high-speed network, but sites - thanks not least to the Safari browser - load much faster. And the speed of working with e-mail, even with attached files, practically does not differ from the speed of checking mail on a computer with a high-speed Internet connection.

It is worth mentioning third-party applications that are provided in the iPhone and that actively use high speed Internet access from a mobile phone - for example, MySpace Mobile and Twitter.

However, the high data transfer speed of the new iPhone 3G in some cases may not seem like a very valuable innovation: Apple limited the amount of data downloaded from the App Store to programs less than 10 MB and provided access to the iTunes Store only via Wi-Fi. This was done, first of all, because of mobile operators, who do not want to allow the owners of the new iPhone 3G to download hundreds of megabytes without charging an additional fee.

The iPhone's obvious drawback is its battery life, which, due to 3G, leaves much to be desired: only 5 hours of talk time. However, for a device with such a large display, this figure is above average in comparison with other 3G devices. The phone will have to be charged at least once a day - for those who often use communications.

    Sound quality

After hearing a lot of complaints from iPhone owners about the sound quality, Apple decided to fix this problem - in the new iPhone 3G, significantly improved sound was one of the main improvements. This applies to both voice calls and music.

However, the iPhone 3G is not completely immune from the influence of extraneous noise. Therefore, if environmental noise is a persistent problem, it is best to purchase a Bluetooth headset with noise canceling technology.

The quality of music and ringtones in the new device is at a high level, but there is a risk of missing a call or text message, since some ringtones sound somewhat quiet.

The new iPhone 3G is Apple's first GPS-enabled device, and this inexperience, despite all the efforts of the company's developers, is still obvious.

To the greatest extent, the presence of GPS will delight those who like to shoot with a mobile phone camera: iPhone 3G provides for the possibility of geotagging. In addition, GPS and Google Maps users will appreciate the fact that real-time positioning can be obtained almost instantly and with a high degree of accuracy. In this, the iPhone 3G is much better than devices like the Nokia N95 and BlackBerry Curve, which sometimes take more than a minute to locate. iPhone 3G only takes a few seconds.

However, the GPS in the iPhone 3G still falls short of a full-fledged navigation tool. Apple developers themselves note that the GPS chip in the phone does not have sufficient capabilities to use navigation while driving. However, the iPhone 3G will still help the pedestrian find his way.

Let us remind you that a lot of new applications from third-party developers based on GPS technologies have appeared in the App Store. Some of them may interest the owners of the new iPhone 3G.

    IPhone 2.0 OS software

No matter how much Apple focuses on the technical characteristics of the new iPhone, the impact of the software cannot be underestimated.

For business users, one of the most important innovations is the inclusion in the iPhone 3G of support for Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync and Apple MobileMe, which make it possible to synchronize and exchange information from the calendar, contact list and e-mail. Thus, users who need such functions have lost the motivation to purchase smartphones and communicators with BlackBerry and Windows Mobile.

A few more changes Apple envisioned make the new iPhone much more convenient for daily and frequent use. The bulk message deletion feature will certainly appeal to those who receive a lot of daily e-mails. The search for contacts has also become more convenient.

Perhaps most of all, iPhone 3G owners will love the App Store and the several hundred third-party applications that can be purchased using it. This new Apple device compares favorably with most smartphones.

At the moment, there are about 800 applications in the App Store for the new iPhone 3G - from mobile games and applications that simply improve the functionality of the device to clients for social networks and voice applications. Mobile games are worth a special mention - thanks to touch controls, 3D graphics and a motion sensor, they can captivate almost any iPhone 3G owner for a very long time.

There are a couple of downsides: First of all, iPhone 3G applications cannot be simply collapsed and left running. In addition, the new phone does not support VoIP and video recording.

    Outcome

The new iPhone differs from similar touchphones, first of all, by its convenient and fast web surfing, as well as by its clear intuitive touch interface. We have to admit that Apple solved many of the problems associated with the first iPhone, taking into account all its shortcomings. Fast internet access, combined with GPS support and a variety of third-party applications, makes the iPhone 3G very attractive to potential buyers.

However, Apple clearly has room to grow - take at least the obvious disadvantages of GPS. The poor battery life will force most iPhone 3G owners to carry a charger with them at all times. A number of important functions that were not present in the first iPhone are also missing in the new device - in particular, support for MMS, voice dialing. The camera of the iPhone 3G with a resolution of 2 megapixels also cannot be compared with much more modern and high-quality cameras of new phones - by the end of the year several models of 8 megapixel camera phones from leading manufacturers will be presented on the market.

As it always happens, before the start of the iPhone 3G sales, there were many rumors about how the new device from Apple looks like, and what its characteristics are. And so, in early January 2007, the head of the company presented to the world a new gadget, which, according to the loud statements of Steve Jobs, was supposed to revolutionize the mobile device market.

The iPhone 3 was thrown onto the market only 6 months after its presentation, but this did not prevent fans of Apple smartphones from immediately lining up in long lines to purchase the new product.

It should be noted that in the first few months, the third iPhone was sold in America only under the terms of a manufacturer's contract with a certain communication company. And only much later, when the device began to be sold in European countries, agreements were found with other operators. Some time later, they began to sell unlocked smartphones, which could already work with SIM cards of almost any company providing communication services. However, the cost of such phones reached $ 1,000.

Of course, the third-generation iPhone was not received as enthusiastically by a wide range of consumers as the very first smartphone from Apple. This is due to the fact that, starting with the second generation devices, they ceased to be exclusive, but became widespread. If the first gadget for a long time was available only to residents of America, then the second quickly hit the shelves of stores in Europe.

As for the 3G model, its sales began in Russia in July 2008. I must say, this smartphone quickly gained its fans. What are the main characteristics of the third generation device will be shown in the iPhone 3G review.

If the first smartphone from Apple was presented exclusively in white, then the third came in two colors - black and white. At the same time, the manufacturer released models with 8 gigabytes only in black. But models with 16 gigabytes of memory are both black and white. Why such a decision was made is unknown. One can only assume that the manufacturer found the white color more effective and status. But these are just guesses. However, as regular consumers of the "apple" company know, many devices, not only smartphones, are produced in white.

By the way, the boxes in which Apple phones are sold are also black and white. But in general, the appearance of the packaging, starting from the very first iPhone, has practically not changed. The box remains the same compact, with the image of a smartphone.

When the package is opened, the user immediately sees the device, neatly wrapped in a film. To remove it, you need to lift the substrate. There is a small envelope under the device. It contains instructions for use, a cloth for wiping, a metal element for removing the SIM - slot.

It should be noted that in a third-generation iPhone, removing a SIM card from the device is a very difficult task. To perform this procedure, the user must be armed with a sharp object such as a needle. At the top of the end of the tube of the gadget there is a small hole, which must be pressed with the end of the needle, and the SIM card will pop out.

As mentioned above, the first Apple devices were sold locked, and frequent SIM changes were not required. But later, when smartphones from this company began to spread massively, manufacturers started thinking about making the process of extracting SIM cards easier and more convenient. This is how a sim-ejector appeared in gadgets, which, by the way, was not very popular with users, since it is very easy to lose it.

The headphones in the iPhone 3G version are quite high quality. The sounds are clear and clean, without unnecessary noise effects. This is a big plus, since most mobile devices come with low-quality headphones, which the user is forced to change when purchasing a more expensive product.

The telephone headset has acquired a more elegant look. The microphone answer button in this gadget is tucked away in a plastic box. You can control the player from the headset.

Many users thank the company for the good package of the iPhone 3G. In particular, as noted by a number of owners of this device on the forums, a cloth for cleaning the case, which comes in the kit, is often useful, since fingerprints often remain on the case.

    Appearance: characteristics

Let's start describing the design with criticism. Most users are unhappy that the version 3 smartphone comes with a plastic back cover. Recall that the previous versions were made by the manufacturer in metal. I must say, this fact has greatly upset iPhone 3G users. After all, a metal tube gives a mobile gadget status and high cost. In general, the device is quite pleasant to the touch. The only drawback in this regard is that it quickly splatters when you touch your fingers.

The owners of white smartphones periodically leave complaints on the forums that cracks appear on the body of the device. But the manufacturer does not comment on these situations.

As for the safety of the gadget, we note that the silver edging that frames the screen is quickly losing its presentation. The screen protection is pretty good, as evidenced by numerous tests conducted by users. Scratches, of course, can appear on the display, but this occurs with special carelessness and carelessness of the user.

Let's consider the appearance of the third smartphone from Apple in more detail. A first glance at the screen shows that it is quite large. There are no boards, as well as transitions from display to body. There is only a silver-colored screen bezel.

The control keys are the only one, and it is located in the phone case, slightly squeezing into it.

The earpiece mesh is located at the very top of the front of the smartphone. Light sensors are located next to it. The brightness level of the screen illumination changes periodically according to their performance. The sensors are virtually invisible to the normal eye and can only be seen in bright light conditions.

The back panel of the device is made of glossy material. At the top left is the camera window.

The top end contains a headphone input. There is also a power key and a compartment for a SIM card.

At the bottom there is a connector for a data cable, a monaural speaker and a microphone.

Note that the keys in the third iPhone are chrome-plated, in earlier versions of Apple's gadgets they were black. Such keys, especially on a white background, look very impressive. But they also look attractive on a black model.

Continuing the conversation about the advantages of the new device - a 3G smartphone - we also note an improved headphone jack. Now any headphones with a 3.5 mm jack can enter it.

One of the advantages is that the new phone model has become thinner by 1 millimeter. In this case, the edges of the device became more rounded. Because of everything, the earlier iPhones look massive and awkward compared to the third generation model.

It is convenient to hold this device in one hand, its weight and dimensions do not cause discomfort for the user. But if you carry the device in a shirt pocket, it will probably pull it off, because it is still impossible to call the model very miniature. As for wearing jeans in your pocket - a similar situation. So it is better to carry the gadget in a special protective case and in a bag.

    Performance

This smartphone model is equipped with a Mac OS X processor. The processor frequency is 620 megahertz. The number of cores is 1. Recall that the number of cores in a processor is one of the main performance indicators, since it is the main computational element that processes all user instructions. Accordingly, the larger the number of cores, the more the processor will be able to execute in a certain period of time. Also, the mobile device works faster with regard to applications and games.

What is the memory of the third generation iPhone?

This metric is just as important as processor performance. It is a storage device that allows the processor to communicate with applications at a given time.

This figure in the third version of the iPhone is 128 megabytes. The frequency of the RAM in this device is equal to 103 megahertz.

The built-in memory is only 8 gigabytes.

    Battery

The battery in the iPhone 3G is not removable. According to user reviews, a full charge of the battery lasts, on average, 12 hours. If the smartphone was used very actively during the day, then it discharges in about 6 hours. Activity means surfing the Internet, listening to music, watching videos, and so on. The battery is certainly not very powerful. But, on the other hand, users rarely actively use gadgets throughout the day. And if the owner of the device very rarely makes calls and does not use multimedia at all, the smartphone battery can last 1-2 days without recharging.

On average, if you use the gadget in moderation, that is, talk for half an hour a day, listen to music for no more than 2 hours a day, surf the Internet for no more than 1 hour a day, then charging for a day may well be enough.

If we compare the third generation model with gadgets of earlier versions, then its battery is undoubtedly more powerful. But a number of users note that they did not notice a significant difference in this indicator. of course, we are talking about those who actively used the first, second, and third versions of the phone.

Council. If you want to keep your iPhone's battery from draining as long as possible, turn on standby mode on it. While in this mode, the device automatically disconnects from all wireless networks.

Experienced users have noticed that if the third iPhone is used very actively every day for a year, then after this period the battery drains heavily and has to be charged at least 1 time per day.

It also happens that the user of the gadget is overly active, that is, he spends 6 hours a day or more on the Internet. In this case, the battery has to be charged every 5-7 hours.

    Display: quality characteristics

Screen quality is one of the most important indicators of a smartphone that any buyer takes into account when purchasing a gadget. The iPhone 3G has a 3.5-inch screen. The screen resolution of this phone is 320 × 480 pixels. It should be noted that in 2007, when the third iPhone was launched, there were very few mobile devices with such a high display quality. Today, in this regard, the third iPhone is also quite competitive, but there are also devices with more advanced devices.

When you first look at the display, you can see a clear, bright picture without any graininess. But you can still see the pixels only when you look at the screen very closely. Of course, the smaller the display, the better the picture looks.

In any case, the display of the device considered in today's review is very good. On many other smartphones, images (icons, etc.) look like they are pressed into the depth of the screen, but in the third iPhone this is not observed. The icons seem to be right under the glass. It looks very nice and impressive.

The advantage of the phone screen is the fact that the display does not fade when exposed to sunlight.

The viewing angles are also of high quality, they remain beautiful for you. The images are different when the unit is tilted.
