The Microsoft search engine, in turn, does not delve into the analysis of expectations; it receives ready-made profiles directly from social networks. The problem arises when a person does not use Facebook or Twitter. In such a situation, Bing is unable to find the right search context.

On the technical side, both search engines allow dynamic searches as they enter keywords. This makes finding good results much faster. Comparing different queries, I must admit that sometimes Google wins, sometimes Bing.

Map services are closely related to search engines. Both providers have their own versions of this service. The maps contain links of the found places, and for the found places, maps of the corresponding areas are included immediately.

True, in our country they are not as accurate as in the homeland of Google, and by far bypass Bing in relevance.

Bing does not put much effort in this area, in its photo panoramas it will not be possible to see many details. An additional advantage of Google is the Street View service.

While following the route, Google provides alternative routes at the same time, however, Bing describes the driving process better. In the case of some routes, Google is limited to only a few main destinations. Bing takes into account all the critical points.

Which search engine is better

Rejecting habits and prejudices, we can safely say that comparing Google and Bing is like looking for proof of Coca-Cola's superiority over Pepsi. Both services do an excellent job of completing the tasks for which they were designed. Each of the services has its own strengths and weaknesses.

Google is better maps and navigation, Bing is more efficient video indexing. The disadvantage of Google is promotion in search results related to paid AdWords service and strong content filtering.

Google also has a lack of respect for data privacy. Regulations allow you to study everything that a person posts on the network.

The Bing homepage is prettier and the results are more orderly. The main page search results provided by the services, however, are almost the same.

The search engine "Bing" has a number of unique features that make it stand out from the rest of the PS. Due to constant rivalry with Google, the system is regularly updated and introduces new features, among which the following can be noted:

Each user can choose the format for displaying snippets in the search results. For example, a short or full description, etc .;
the ability to choose the number of displayed sites on one issue page, as well as the method of opening new sites (in a new or current tab / window);

The "All" tab is a category of results that displays all found material (sites, pictures, videos, etc.). Most often, the search results look like a list of the most relevant resources (snippets) with titles and descriptions, but sometimes there are positions with videos or images.

Above the results there are buttons for switching between categories and the "Saved" tab, where all the materials saved by the user are located (section "My Collections"). The number of sites found is also displayed above the search results. By default, 10 sites are located on one search page, but this value can be changed in the system settings (up to 50 sites).

Below the search results, there is a switch between pages and similar search queries (they are also located to the right of the results).

"Images"

In the "Images" tab, images, pictures, photographs relevant to the request are shown. In addition to the standard menu, filters are also located above the issue.

Filters allow you to sort all found files by several criteria:

Image size. Allows you to select small, medium, large or extra large images. If desired, you can set the dimensions manually (in pixels);

Blossom. Allows you to select pictures of a specific color or with a predominantly selected color. In addition, you can separately find black and white images or only color;

Like. Allows you to find images of a certain type (photo, picture, line drawing, animated GIF, transparent PNG);

The layout. Allows you to select the format of pictures (square, portrait, landscape);

People. Allows you to find only photographs with faces or only portraits on the shoulders. Very handy if you are looking for photos or images of people;

Date. Allows you to search for pictures posted at a specific time (in the last 24 hours, last week, last month or year);

Licenses. Searches for images with the selected license type (Creative Commons, public domain, free distribution and use, free change, distribution and use).

In the upper right corner, you can disable (or strengthen) the "Safe Search" function, which is enabled by default.

The "Filter" button hides or, conversely, opens a menu with the above filters.

The search page is the same as in the case of pictures, only instead of photos, videos relevant to the user's request will be displayed here.

The filters are as follows:

Length - allows you to select the length of videos (less than 5 minutes, 5–20 minutes, more than 20 minutes);

Date - similar to images, by publication date;

Resolution - allows you to find videos of a specific quality (from 360 to 1080p);

Source - allows you to specify a specific site from which you want to search for videos (for example, YouTube);

Price - free or paid videos.

In the upper right corner, you can configure the Safe Search function and hide / show filters.

"News"

This section displays news relevant to the query. They can be sorted by category, time of publication and source.

By default, this section is empty. To display news on queries in Russian, you must specify the country "Russia" in the search settings.

"Saved"

An additional "Saved" tab appears in the search results. This contains all the content that the user has saved.

MSN is the home page of the Bing search engine. If you wish, you can install it in your browser.

It indexes Runet sites and searches for them, but its quality is significantly inferior to the algorithms of Yandex and Google.ru, and therefore the prevalence of this search engine in the territory of the post-Soviet space is not great and its share in Runet is vanishingly small:

The main page of bing.com, in contrast to the main page of Yandex (with widgets and themes) and the austere start page of Google, has a peculiar design, which, for me personally, causes a certain dissonance:

A large picture (like a desktop in Windows) and a modest search bar located not in the middle, but huddled in the upper left corner, where you can also see tabs for going to search by images (analogous to Google and Yandex pictures), video and news MSN. Despite the fact that Microsoft has its own rather serious contextual advertising system Bing Ads (formerly AdCenter), small-scale ones prefer to make money on the Russian-speaking audience using the Yandex Direct system, dear to our hearts (most of the websites of the Russian Internet also make money on it, i.e. in YAN - seamy side of Direct):

Well, in fact, they do not turn to Google (meaning their Google Adsense system), which has long been settled in the Russian Internet. However, I think, having got used to the post-Soviet space, this search engine will replace Direct with its Bing Ads, which will eventually pick up a sufficient number of advertisers from the Russian Internet.

But when you buy perpetual links in Gogetlinks or post articles in Miralinks, this operator will show you the spam of a potential donor in no time. If there are much more external links than pages on this site, then you should forget about the prospect of buying a link there.

As for the success of Microsoft's new search engine, experts tend to associate it with two main factors. Firstly, the company's engineers managed to avoid all the mistakes and shortcomings that were made in the previous Microsoft search services, and secondly, the huge array of statistical data that the company has accumulated over the years of the Internet Explorer browser existence allowed its engineers to create a search algorithm. giving users really relevant results.

As for the promotion, it is not yet clear how effective site promotion with links works in this search engine. This search engine has a "proprietary" ranking algorithm, it is somewhat reminiscent of the Google ranking algorithm of three years ago, plus some more developments. Since we have little demand for this search engine, there is not much specific information about the technology of the Bing search engine in the Russian Internet.

In general, the entire history of search engines is full of drama, the Internet market is the most dynamic market, so often one search leader was replaced by another leader.

In addition, it is worth noting such an important factor in the popularity of Bing as the improved search in media files, which provides ample opportunities for sorting search results that are not available in other search services.

As for the ranking algorithm of this search engine, it also has some features. First of all, it is worth noting that Bing has an extremely negative attitude towards sites that are promoted using search engine spam methods, penalizing such resources for the slightest misstep. Secondly, this search service is very good for sites that use a large number of flash elements, which cannot be said about many other search engines. The third feature of Bing's search algorithm is its relationship to keyword density. If for successful promotion in other search engines, site texts must contain from 5 to 8% of keywords, then Bing considers the natural density of keywords to be 3%.
