I completely forgot - MPC-HC stands for MPC this is Media Player Classic, but HC seems to mean Home Cinema.
So again - MPC-HC is a simple media player, popular, simple and easy to use, but not the best. No, there are no minuses as such, however .. all the same, in some cases it will be better than VLC. But if you just need to watch movies, ordinary ones that you downloaded on the Internet for example, then MPC-HC in most cases will cope with a bang.

To be honest, it always seemed to me that Media Player Classic had something to do with Microsoft .. it seemed that they made it ..
Features of Media Player Classic
After reading a little more, I realized - MPC-HC is actually most likely stands for Media Player Classic Home Cinema. And this I am leading to that ... this is not quite the usual version. There is also a regular version of Media Player Classic or MPC for short .. and this is how this version looks like:
By design, I can conclude that MPC worked back in the days of Windows XP ..
Therefore, let's first look at the capabilities of MPC .. so here are the main features in my opinion:
- Plays VCD, SVCD and DVD formats without installing additional codecs. Here, as I understand it, the trick is that .. you can watch a DVD without installing additional software. Yes, this is a plus, the main thing is that the player understands the DVD well, this is not just a movie in one file.
- Play RealMedia and QuickTime. Well, I don't know what to say here, as few people watch videos in this format. But there is a cant - these are the formats that can be played, provided that the appropriate codecs are available. But I think that this problem is solved by installing the K-Lite Codec Pack, you just need to install the full version, it seems to be called Full.
- Plays files of any formats that support DirectShow, for example, DivX, Xvid, H.264. Yes this good. And the formats can be played even without installing additional codecs. Another question is how smooth the video will be on weak PCs? Yes guys, the speed of the video player and omnivorousness in terms of formats are perhaps the most important thing.
- Playback of Flash-movies with the installed ActiveX plug-in with the ability to rewind. Well, that's good, but in practice, few people watch flash videos on a video player))
- Play damaged AVI files. The option is interesting, VLC also has this.
- Watching movies in a resolution other than the current one. If at the same time the load on the PC decreases - then yes, this is a very useful option. But .. does the permit change happen on the fly? If so, then it probably requires processor resources ..
Well, now the disadvantages:
- There is no automatic adjustment of brightness and contrast. This is a dubious drawback, because it is still not known how much this option can work correctly, it may calmly turn out that it only hurts.
- Requires processor support for SSE instructions. This is also a dubious drawback. All modern processors are five years old, and although I think they are even older, they support this instruction. Well, if the processor is Pentium 4, then it's worth then .. hmm .. generally convert the video to low resolution and watch it, for example, in VLC.
- To play some formats - you need to install a pack of codecs. Yes, I think this is a minus, because the required codecs may already be embedded, such as in VLC.
Sori guys, I just tried a lot of players and realized that the most omnivorous and fast player .. this is VLC, but this is my personal opinion!
That is, as you can see, Media Player Classic is a completely normal player, simple, ordinary. But it is not omnivorous in terms of video formats.
About Media Player Classic Home Cinema
I wrote that the development of the program has stopped. But the player is now being developed by third-party programmers - they are finalizing it, fixing bugs, all this is good. But this particular version, which is already supported by other programmers, is called Media Player Classic Home Cinema ... and this is what this version looks like:

This version already includes codecs, then you don't need to install additional codecs .. hmm .. but I think not everything is so smooth - when I tried to open a video file, then again, Media Player Classic could not open it, but VLC could. The interface in this version has been simplified and translated into many languages.
Supports many versions of Windows - from XP to Windows 10.
So, here are some more differences from the regular version of Media Player Classic:
- Support for EVR, madVR visualization. Well, not particularly relevant, but also good of course.

Do you need this program?
Good question. You need this program if you:
- Watch movies, for example download them from torrents. Without this program, it will be impossible to watch movies, except with the built-in video player.
- If you are watching DVD movies. Hmm, well, of course everything is clear here, however, I think discs are not very popular today .. this boom of discs, as it seems to me, has passed for a long time)) Although you can still watch movies from a flash drive.
In general, it seems to me that it is most convenient to watch movies online.
The player can also be removed to install another one. For example VLC - there is everything you need, adjusting brightness, contrast and other things. Another good video player is PotPlayer.
How to remove MPC-HC?
Here's a simple mini-guide on how to remove a video player:
- Hold Win + R, write the appwiz.cpl command, click OK.
- The installed software window will appear. There will be a list. Find MPC or Media Player Classic here, right-click, select Uninstall.
- The Uninstall wizard will appear on the screen. Just follow the instructions, usually click Next / Uninstall / Next / Uninstall.
Not everyone knows this, but .. after removing it is even better to clean the remains by hand, do not worry - there is nothing complicated. It's just that the program can leave behind the settings or something else .. to check, then hold down Win + R, write the command:
Click OK. A folder will open where all the settings are stored - look if there is a folder in the name of which the word MPC is mentioned? If there is, then the program has left this folder. You can try to delete or rename by adding, for example, the _ symbol and if then there are no glitches for a couple of days, then delete. But this is already for security purposes, so to speak))

Are you an advanced user and want to remove it so that you can clean it automatically afterwards? No problem. Use an uninstaller, I can recommend two - one is the simpler Uninstall Tool and the other is Revo Uninstaller. Both are able to clean leftovers in the registry and among files. It cleans better, I think Revo Uninstaller ..

- MPC-HC is a video player that ceased development in 2006.
- But today there are kind people, and they keep the MPC-HC up to date.
- My personal opinion is that there is nothing special about the MPC-HC, and neither is the design. Works fast. However, it seems to me that many people liked it precisely because of its simplicity!

Suppose that at the current moment of time we have some kind of "economic equilibrium". Each household spends part of the money received on consumption, and saves part of the money, making savings. Suppose there is additional income in the household as a result of economic growth. It is logical to assume that the result of this process will be an increase in consumption.
In order to assess how much consumption will increase with an increase in household income, an indicator is used, which is called marginal (additional) propensity to consume(MPC).
Formula MPC:
MPC = ΔC / ΔY,
where:
ΔС - the amount of increase in consumption costs
Since not all additional funds received will be sent for consumption, the rest will be used for saving (accumulation). Therefore, a similar indicator is called marginal propensity to save (MPS)... It reflects the value that shows what part of the additional income households use for saving (accumulation).
MPS Formula:
MPS = ΔS / ΔY,
where:
ΔS - the value of the increase in the cost of saving (accumulation)
ΔY is the amount of increase in household income
Since the additional income received goes either to consumption or to saving, it becomes clear why the total sum of the marginal propensity to save MPS and the marginal propensity to consume MPC is always equal to one. That is:

The problem of playing video content in Microsoft Windows operating systems has always been quite acute, despite the presence of Windows Media Player in them. Once, in version 6.4, it was a simple and easy-to-understand program, but over time it turned into a multimedia monster, while most users needed a simple player that could play any video file by double-clicking it. And the replacement for WMP 6.4 appeared - back in May 2003, an enthusiast under the nickname Gabest released the first version of Media Player Classic, based on the old Microsoft design. Over time, the project has acquired support for various features, including acceleration using GPUs, and has become the well-known and beloved Media Player Classic - Home Cinema (MPC-HC).
Classic MPC Home Cinema View: Nothing Too Much
In this project, full support for DXVA was implemented, including for H.264 and VC-1 formats, the EVR renderer, and a mechanism was introduced to get rid of "tearing". A 64-bit version of the player has also appeared. The program could both be embedded in the system and be used as a "portable application". With a small volume, MPC-HC has an excellent set of capabilities and is able to play almost any video file with audio tracks in various formats, from PCM to AC3, DTS and even Dolby Atmos. Even the playback of Flash animations is supported. Moreover, the program can even act as an interface to TV tuners with the ability to record a video stream; however, in this regard, the capabilities of MPC-HC are quite basic. But the remote control system is very advanced - WinLirc and uICE systems are supported, which makes MPC-HC an excellent "heart" of a home media center.
It looks like the development of the project has come to its logical conclusion. At the moment, the developer has announced version 1.7.13. An announcement appeared on the project's website stating that the number of programmers participating in the development of MPC-HC has now been reduced to zero and the project has been officially declared "dead". Those wishing to continue development can contact the creators using IRC or email. But this does not mean that MPC-HC itself is dead: firstly, the player is still available for download and still works great with most media formats, and secondly, there are offshoots of the project, the most famous of which - - has more modern interface design that fits perfectly into the GUIs of Windows 7, 8.1 and 10. Development of MPC BE is ongoing, and at the time of this writing, the last contribution to the repositories was made just 16 hours ago. However, if someone likes the original MPC-HC more, then it is also available for download from the project's website. It's too early to say goodbye to this excellent program - it will serve film fans for a long time and honestly.
