Phones nokia e71. Nokia E71 - a detailed review of the phone. Overall rating: Average

Today we will take a closer look at the Nokia E71 phone. The device fits perfectly into a shirt or trouser pocket. The case material is one of the important features of this model.

Design

The size of the Nokia E71 is 114x57x10 mm and weighs 127 grams. In this case, metal is used for the back cover, as well as glossy plastic, painted type. This approach made it possible to almost completely eliminate abrasion coatings. Thus, we are dealing with an incredibly durable structure that does not wear out even after a long time. There is a chrome bezel on the front surface. Scratches remain on the plastic. They are noticeable upon close examination. However, they are not visible from a short distance. The back cover has a dot pattern. It prevents the appearance of scuffs.

Engineers "Nokia E71" with unsurpassed skill worked out the design of the device. The back cover, for example, sits on a pair of spring contacts. This system has proven itself very well. The clamps are ribbed. You can find them by touch. The infrared port is on the side left side. The microSD slot and microUSB connector are hidden by rubber caps. There is a 2.5mm audio output on the right. There are also volume control buttons, as well as a key for voice services. At the bottom there is a strap hole and a 2mm charger connector. On the top panel there is a power key and a speaker hole.

Display

Nokia E71 has a 2.36-inch screen with QVGA resolution. The display shows 16 million colors. The picture is bright. It is clearly visible under various conditions. The screen behaves well in the sun. There is a mirror backing. The display shows up to eight lines of text. The font is quite readable. In some modes, the number of lines can go up to 14.

Keyboard

Nokia E71 has an unusual input device. This model is equipped with a QWERTY keyboard. In this case, typing can be done with one hand. The width of the phone is quite comfortable. One finger can reach all keys. The relatively small size of the keyboard has meant that the buttons are placed back to back. Therefore, erroneous pressing of adjacent keys is possible. Blind typing on a device is very difficult.

The buttons are made of plastic. Volume keys, have a protruding hemisphere. However, it is easier to press on them with your fingernail, and not with the pad of your fingers. In this model, the local alphabet is selected as the main one. English is the second language here, and the corresponding letters are shown on the top row, and also highlighted in blue. The developers combined the letters "B and Y" with "Zh and E". To copy the text, you need to translate the case, press Ctrl, and then perform the required action.

As for the Russian language, for it all the letters were taken out on the keys, among them there is a solid sign. The bottom row contains frequently used buttons - comma and period. The key backlight is white. It is relatively uniform. The designations are clearly visible. The keyboard is not too suitable for dialing numbers. Numeric keys are crowded, symbols merge. The proprietary feature of the device is four separate. They are responsible for access to mail, phone book and calendar. The buttons support two types of presses - short and long.

User opinions

So we figured out the main features of the Nokia E71 phone. Reviews about him are very different, and now we will try to highlight the main thing from them. The advantages of users, as a rule, include reliability, stability, ease of use, long battery life, build quality. Among the shortcomings mentioned is the refusal to update the Symbian platform.

Display type: LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) - Liquid crystal displays. The very first displays used in mobile devices, and not only in telephones. Their main feature is that they have very low power consumption due to the impossibility of displaying a color image. They do not emit light and therefore phones are upgraded with backlight lamps. Some phones had several different backlight colors based on the presence of different LEDs around the display's perimeter. This extraordinary solution was used, for example, in the Ericsson A3618 phone. On this type of displays, pixels are clearly visible, and such displays cannot boast of a high resolution. In order to extend the life of such displays, they made them inverted, i.e. text and symbols were not displayed as filled pixels, but, on the contrary, inactive against the background of filled ones. This resulted in light text on a dark background. At present this type of display is used in the cheapest budget models (Nokia 1112) and as an external one in some clamshell phones (Samsung D830).

TFT (Thin Film Transistor) - Liquid crystal displays based on thin film transistors with active matrix. There are three transistors for each pixel, corresponding to three colors (RGB - red, green, blue). At the moment, these are the most common displays and have several advantages over other displays. They are distinguished by their minimal response time and rapid development - constantly growing resolution and number of colors. These displays are most common in mid-range phones and above. Working resolutions for them: 128x160, 132x176, 176x208, 176x220, 240x320 and others, less common. Examples: Nokia N73 (240x320, 262 thousand colors), Sony Ericsson K750i (176x220, 262 thousand colors), Samsung D900 (240x320, 262 thousand colors). TFTs are rarely used as external displays for clamshells.

CSTN (Color Super Twisted Nematic) - Passive matrix color liquid crystal displays. Each pixel of such a display consists of three combined pixels, which correspond to three colors (RGB). Some time ago, almost all phones with color displays were based on exactly this type. And now the lot of such displays is budget models. The main disadvantage of such displays is their slowness. The undoubted advantage of such displays is their cost, which is much lower than TFT. Based on simple logic, it can be assumed that in the future TFT will displace this type of displays from the mobile phone market. The color evolution of such displays is quite extensive: from 16 to 65536 colors. Examples: Motorola V177 (128x160, 65 thousand colors), Sony Ericsson J100i (96x64, 65 thousand colors), Nokia 2310 (96x68, 65 thousand colors).

UFB (Ultra Fine and Bright) - Liquid crystal displays with increased brightness and contrast on a passive matrix. We can say that this is an intermediate option between CSTN and TFT. This type of display boasts lower power consumption compared to TFT. For the most part, such displays were used by Samsung in mid-range phones. This type of display is not widely used. Examples: Samsung C100 / 110 (128x128, 65 thousand colors).

TN is one type of TFT display matrix. Roughly speaking, TN is the simplest and cheapest TFT matrix. The viewing angles are the narrowest.

The Nokia E71 is more than fixing the bugs of the previous E61i QWERTY smartphone. The device combines a functional business assistant and a significantly more attractive appearance compared to its predecessors.

Initially, the idea of \u200b\u200bthe E line (in particular, smartphones with a full keyboard layout) was focused exclusively on business users: maximum functions for work, Wi-Fi, no camera and other multimedia features. In fact, compliance with these conditions can be observed only in the first swallow - E61. In the subsequent reincarnations to please the consumer, almost all multimedia capabilities were returned.

The market for phones with a full keyboard is not dynamic, its target audience is narrow, announcements of such devices are rare outside America - the fiefdom of BlackBerry devices. In this light, the renewal of this segment is all the more important.

After the release of E71 - the newest model in the line of QWERTY-devices - there was a serious gap between the device indexes (after the successive release of E61 and E61i). However, the difference in indices clearly demonstrates significant differences in functional saturation and positioning.

Design

It was the appearance (before the appearance of E71) that remained a weak spot in Nokia's QWERTY smartphones. It was difficult to name them other than “shovels”, “shovels” or other attributes of the sandbox. As a result, future owners acquired such models solely for functionality, turning a blind eye to the design.

In the case of the E71 design, there is a significant step forward. The smartphone has become much more attractive in appearance, which means it got rid of the repulsive factor.

The dimensions of the device are comparable to those of ordinary phones, except perhaps for the width. However, it does not cause any inconvenience when worn, moreover, it is compensated by its thinness (10 mm). Next to the E61i, the novelty looks more compact and neat.

The smartphone has acquired softer, rounded shapes that visually make it smaller. The use of metal and chrome plated plastic certainly adds to the E71 points in the "status" column. Unfortunately, the metal (of which the back cover and part of the front panel are made) retain fingerprints.

The assembly of the model leaves a pleasant impression, there is a feeling of reliability.

Perhaps the only element that does not correspond to the strict design is the power button, which has an unexpected red color. The key looks out of place.

Next to it, at the top, there is an external speaker. It sounds loud enough and from this no less high quality. On the right side, above the volume rocker, there is a 2.5 mm headphone output, on the left - a compartment for microSD memory cards covered with a flap.

Contents of delivery

In addition to the standard pounds of instructions and a charger (which has become even more compact), the buyer is offered some really useful accessories. First, it is a thick and thin case. It wraps around the smartphone and is designed to protect the device; you will have to carry it in the same pocket.

Secondly, this is a wired stereo headset Nokia HS-47, with which the latest novelties of the Finnish company are supplied. Tablets provide ample headroom and will certainly suit most owners.

Keyboard

Without any exaggeration, the keyboard unit is one of the leading criteria when choosing the E71. Who needs a QWERTY smartphone with an awkward keyboard?

The miniaturization (including the reduction in width by 12 mm in comparison with the E61) resulted in a denser, crowded arrangement of the keys. On the one hand, it allows you to comfortably use the keyboard with just one hand. On the other hand, this naturally influenced the "two-handed" dialing: people with large fingers cannot avoid false presses.

The keys are made of rubberized plastic, each of them has a "pad" shape. The layouts of the Russian and English languages \u200b\u200bare applied in different colors, this greatly facilitates the search for the required letter. It is also convenient that in the bottom row there are separate buttons for punctuation marks and some other symbols (“.”, “,”, “:”, “;”, “@”, “/”). It is worth noting that switching from the E61 / E61i to a new keyboard is easy.

The decrease in free space was also reflected in the navigation block. Four PIM-keys (menu / desktop, calendar, contacts, e-mail) are “edged” with standard receive, hang up and two soft keys. As a result, the finger again misses the direction of the navigation key, which can be very annoying. By the way, the user can change the assignment of the function buttons at will.

The keys are illuminated with white LEDs. This is the best option, which prevents the fusion of symbols on the keys and does not dazzle in the dark. In the menu, you can select the effect of "breathing" when the LED "breathes" under the navigation key. The function is interesting both from a decorative point of view and from a practical point of view: when the display is off in standby mode, the "breath" confirms the active state of the smartphone.

Display

Due to the non-standard wide body, the display retained the aspect ratio of 3: 4, but changed the orientation to horizontal. The screen has smaller physical dimensions than that of the E61, and still has the same QVGA resolution.

Accordingly, the image quality is excellent and the grain is indistinguishable. But this is still the same QVGA - by all appearances, the day when Nokia will give up the 320x240 resolution will be outstanding.

For greater safety, the display is protected from external damage by glass. This does not degrade brightness or color performance in any way.

Hardware filling

E71 is equipped with one of the most powerful ARM 11 processor with a frequency of 369 MHz used in Symbian devices. The amount of RAM is 128 MB, which is 2 times more than in the previous generation of Nokia smartphones.

This gives an excellent result in terms of performance: the model allows you to work with several "difficult" applications in parallel. Using, for example, the built-in browser, you can open several tabs without hesitation.

Desktop

The smartphone runs on Symbian OS v9.2 FP 3.1. This means that inside it is identical to another new product from the company - the E66 slider (the models were announced together).

The desktop is notable for its Modes mode. The utility provides for the creation of two options for the design of the desktop. In each mode, you can set an individual theme, select special elements of Active Standby, "hot" links, etc. In its most general form, the program is presented as an opportunity to switch between "work" and "leisure".

Utilities

It is unnecessary to dwell on the general features of Symbian OS in detail, so we will pay attention to the individual features of E71.

First of all, PIM functions stand out for the better - positioning, after all, obliges. Searching for contacts, for example, can be done directly from the desktop. It is enough to start typing letters (not even numbers), and a special wizard will offer a choice of suitable contacts by name.

Directly in the application of the same name using the pop-up context menu, you can select the method of communication with the subscriber. By the way, we must admit that Nokia has done a great job on the usual functions (such as contacts and calendar), they have become much more attractive in appearance and easier to operate.

Thanks to the horizontally located display, the calendar is divided into 2 areas: on the left, the grid of numbers of the month is displayed directly, and on the right, tasks for the selected day. In addition, the option to view the week, day and list of active tasks is available.

Special attention is paid to e-mail in the smartphone - the developers probably expect that they will actively use it. The setup process is reduced to a minimum: just enter the address and password to it, additional information is collected by the wizard automatically.

In general, while exploring the capabilities of E71, it is difficult not to pay attention to the ever closer integration of mobile devices with the Internet. More and more preinstalled apps offer network connectivity for a wider range of options.

Nokia continues to conquer the Internet space with its own efforts, and it already has something to offer. Menu item "Download!" continues to fill up, uploading photos to the Ovi portal becomes available.

The list of applications consists of installers of various programs. The company decided to leave the choice to the owner. Those interested will be able to find an international guide (on hotels, currencies, weather, etc. - Internet access is required again), a sports coach and a set of solitaire games.

If entertainment applications are a matter of taste, office software is already fully installed and ready to go. It is especially convenient that in the pre-installed Quick Office package, the editing mode is available without any requirements to buy or update the program. This makes the keyboard even more useful: you can edit the text and create your own from scratch.

Another important application is Nokia Maps. It is available to obtain the coordinates of your location from the built-in GPS receiver with the support of base stations (A-GPS mode). The map can be viewed in 2D, 3D, with and without terrain. There is a search for points of interest (hotels, bars, shops), which is carried out via the Internet, so the database is interactive.

I would like to mention in a separate paragraph that Minsk is already listed in the database. Moreover, 2 lines are marked on the map of our capital - these are Independence and Pobediteley avenues. For some reason, foreign manufacturers decided that this information would be enough for both local residents and visitors.

Communications

Communications are represented by a complete set: there is an infrared port, and Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi. The search for hot spots occurs mainly in the background, it is enough to activate the WLAN with one click from the desktop.

The creators of the software provide that users will use the wireless network quite often. As a connection, Wi-Fi is always offered as an alternative, conversations through it and connection to a working network (intranet) are possible.

There are no complaints about Bluetooth operation: the speed is high, there was no dislike for devices from other manufacturers. It is commendable that the A2DP profile is supported.

Phone advantages:

First of all - the QWERTY keyboard. The set of messages in ICQ is simple and pleasant. At first, it is a little inconvenient, but once you learn that you have an ordinary computer keyboard in front of you, the typing speed increases dramatically (Tip: press the buttons not with the pad of your finger, but with the very tip or sideways - so there are fewer mistakes). I use it to photograph assignments and schedules at the university - everything turns out clearly and readable - thanks to autofocus (button "2"). Well, the horizontal arrangement of the screen. Sites, books, photographs, films - now everything is human, like on a computer.

Disadvantages of the phone:

Already called - a soiled case (as a result, I scored on "fingers", since it does not interfere with using it), the absence of stale or plastic protection on sale (as a result, I bought a protective film and covered the screen with it), and I carry the phone in a leather bag on my belt) not the best quality strap (very convenient, but in a couple of months it has already begun to get disheveled) and headphones (they don't sit too well in the ears). Well, you can also point out in the shortcomings the need to get used to typing on the keyboard for several days, but I want to say, after you get used to it (it took me only three days of everyday use), the usual telephone keyboard is disgusting, and those who use it are sympathetic.

A comment about the phone:

In general, the model met expectations by 120%. In particular, I was pleased with a rather powerful processor and a large amount of RAM, which made it possible to comfortably use several programs at once. If you will not install programs on smart, why did you buy it at all? I want to name a few progs that you must have: QIP PDA - a multi-protocol IM client (ICQ, MAgent, Jabber ...). Shows incoming messages with a blinking icon, on top of all open programs.Alon MP3 Dictaphone - the best dictaphone I've seen cCam - photo shooting without sound (video can't) CorePlayer - video player, can mp4 (and not only) ABBYY Lingvo x3 mobile - the best dictionary of foreign words ( Lingvo 12 will do too) Qreader is the best txt book reader Resco Viewer is a super-awesome photo viewer, many times steeper than the standard one! (Control on the number buttons, see the end of the review for how to use it) PowerMP3 is a music player that pleasantly surprised me with a competent interface (supports changing skins), an abundance of functions and setting a button on the headset (for example, it is very convenient for me to switch to the next song in transport or on the go with a button). I also highly recommend ..mConnection - internet traffic counter. Not a fountain, but the best I could find. If you find better - let me know! FreeTimeSync - synchronization of clocks: with servers on the Internet, by GPS or via SMS (I have not tried this option). NiceCalc - Multifunctional and convenient calculator. Handy Profiles - Profile Manager. It is convenient to set the profile without sound for the duration of the pair, after which the mode that was before turns on. Handy Clock is an excellent calendar, alarm clock, timer, stopwatch ... But install version 4.05, because on the following I did not find how to set the alarm volume (who knows - tell me?) From toys I advise you to play NOM, a very original thing!) And this advice: double-clicking the half-shaded square in the lower corner, you will get a regular numeric in the center of the keyboard, like in other phones. This helps if the program or game does not respond to presses of the seemingly correct keys. The mode is disabled by a single press of the same key. And one more: The language is switched by the combination Shift + Ctrl

Chinese phone Nokia e71 is an excellent representative of multifunctional smartphones. The first thing I would like to note is the high quality of the factory assembly, the absence of factory defects. Although if there is one, then it will make itself felt in the first two weeks, and the warranty period is quite enough to identify and eliminate all issues.

When buying a Chinese phone you need to pay attention to the following factors:

1. Insert two SIM cards at once and see how the phone behaves. Are there any freezes and the phone does not turn off at the same time, does the phone see both SIM cards (in earlier models this defect was sometimes encountered, but now it has been eliminated).

2. Check the charger is working properly, there are defective cables and non-working adapters.

3. Check the camera and TV.

4. The battery in Nokia E71 China cannot be checked immediately. For a complete check, you need at least two days to "swing" the battery (on the first day of purchase, you should charge the phone for 18 hours, then slowly discharge the battery without turning on the TV, and then put the phone on charge for 12 hours. After these procedures, a good battery will hold a charge for at least two days.

You can buy the following models from us:

nokia e71 chinese is equipped with two cameras. The front one has a resolution of 1280x960 pixels.

The sound in the phone is not just loud, but VERY LOUDsupported by the four built-in speakers. There is also a vibro function, which is discernible even in a pocket.

An interesting function "Shake Control" (gyroscope) has been implemented. For scrolling to the right and left up and down to work, it is enough to sharply deflect the phone.

Bluetooth adapter A2DPworks successfully with all models. There were no problems with data transfer.

FM radio works almost everywhere, with a weak reception, it is enough to use the antenna, and the reception will become much more confident.

e71 nokia TV supports reading txt files in UTF-8 encoding.

Supported multimedia in mp3 and mp4 formats.

Languages: English, French, Hindi, Vietnamese, Russian, Bulgarian, Thai

There is support for data transmission via uSB cable... In addition, the phone can work in the mode of a web-camera or card reader.

Well, these are familiar to all mobile phones - a notebook, calendar, alarm clock, stopwatch, world clock, calculator, currency converter, unit converter. The alarm clock has 5 groups, it is possible to set the alarm clock for the days of the week, the alarm clock works even when the phone is switched off. There is a function of scheduling auto-on and auto-off of the phone, 500 groups of contacts, support for incoming calls and speakerphone, photo and video calls, setting a special call to groups.

Outcome

Chinese phones have recently become better quality and more functional. Compared to more branded counterparts, the "Chinese" have a more complete software and hardware component and E 71TV is a vivid confirmation of this. Fully Russified, having all the necessary functions, the phone will become your assistant in any situation.
