Highway clock. Expensive, stylish, reliable! Test review of smart watches Huawei Watch. Pairing Huawei Watch with a smartphone

This watch is in many ways similar to the Huawei Watch, also made with an eye to design and luxury. Big, powerful, in general, for real men. And the filling is still the same: gyroscope, accelerometer, heart rate sensor, and Android Wear on board. But now they cost about 20 thousand rubles, it is quite tolerable.

Opinion

The Chinese delayed the release of their watches. When they promised to finish the gadget by the summer in the spring, it seemed an unbearably long time, because competitors released their new items on sale just a couple of months after the announcements at MWC. So the long wait greatly blurred the impression. The wow effect of the gadget faded even before the start of sales, but even now it's not just another Android Wear device. Huawei relied on design and did not lose. The result is a stylish accessory that looks expensive, and, to be honest, costs a lot. But girls are unlikely to wear such a massive gadget, but business men will still have to think about whose Watch to choose: Huawei or Apple. The functionality of the Huawei watch here is about the same as that of other watches on the market. Unless this watch counts steps a little more accurately and keeps track of you better during training. But I strongly doubt that anyone will wear the Huawei Watch for a run. So, if you choose this watch, it is only for the sake of design and quality. And do not forget about the cost, now it can play a decisive role in the choice.

Huawei has unveiled a new line of wearable devices, with the Huawei Watch GT smartwatches taking center stage. This novelty is especially interesting, since the Huawei Watch family has not been updated for a long time, and the revival of the "watch" direction is now very important. However, Huawei's new smartwatches will have to compete with recently launched and. We decided to find out whether the decision of the Chinese company is capable of giving battle to eminent rivals.

First of all, it should be noted that the new Huawei Watch is not built on Android Wear, like the first two generations, but on its own operating system. There is no app store or watch face like competing OSs. Therefore, it is more correct to compare Huawei Watch GT not with Apple Watch, Samsung Galaxy Watch and Android Wear models, but with devices of the type that occupy an intermediate position between fitness bracelets and smartwatches.

And the second point: the manufacturer's declared duration of 14 days and the official price of 15 thousand rubles make the Huawei Watch GT attractive for those users who choose the latter between functionality and practicality, but do not want to sacrifice the appearance and the large screen, which is inevitable in the case with traditional fitness bracelets.

To begin with, the characteristics of the novelty.

Equipment

The watch is delivered in a cube-shaped box. Its appearance and material cannot be denied in grace, gloss. Not that there is anything great here in terms of style, but opening the packaging and taking out the Huawei Watch GT is definitely a pleasure.

The package bundle is rather modest: inside the box, in addition to the watch, we found a warranty booklet, a short user manual (useful information in English is placed there on one page), a tablet charger and a USB-C cable.

The tablet charger is connected with contacts to the "back" of the watch.

By the way, the decision to use USB-C in the charger instead of the outdated and less convenient Micro-USB is welcome. And this is the main plus of the package. Alas, there are no additional straps or something similar here. Likewise, there is no mains charger.

Design

The appearance of the watch immediately commands respect. We tested the Huawei Watch GT Classic Edition. And this is a truly classic design: a large round screen without any notches or dead zones, a dark metal bezel with embossed numerals (05, 10, 15, 20, etc.), a steel case that turns into strap mounts and steel the same, strongly protruding buttons.

The bezel does not rotate, all control of the watch is carried out using the screen and these two buttons: the top one calls the applications menu, the bottom one - workouts. When the screen is off, you can turn it on with any of the buttons (in both cases, after the first press, you will see the dial).

The back surface of the watch case is made of black matte plastic, in the center there is a module with a heart rate sensor.

The strap is attached to the watch as standard, on a lever, which must be pulled back to remove half of the strap. But what's unusual is the design of the strap itself. Viewed from the outside, it is a classic brown leather with double stitching. It looks elegant, the skin is pleasant to the touch, with a strong natural smell.

But if we turn the strap over, we see black silicone, not leather. Simply put, the strap is two-layer: the outer surface is leather, the inner one, adjacent to the hand, is silicone. The edges are also silicone. Is this good or bad? This solution has both pros and cons.

The plus is that such a strap is less greasy and easier to clean from sweat and dirt. The main trouble with all-leather straps is that they quickly lose their new look, and here such a problem will clearly not be. The downside is that the sensations from touching silicone to the hand are still different than from the skin. It's a matter of taste, but the skin is nicer.

The same Apple solves the dilemma "silicone or leather" simply: the Apple Watch user can buy both these and such straps. But, for example, the cheapest leather strap will cost 12 thousand rubles, while the entire Huawei Watch GT watch, including the strap, costs 15 thousand. That is, even if we assume that a third of the price of the device falls on this hybrid strap (and most likely much less), it turns out that it is more than twice cheaper than the Apple strap.

In general, we repeat, the watch design makes a very pleasant impression. Despite the size of the screen, the model does not look bulky. A metal bezel with physical numbers and a steel case add solidity to the device. The strap is also in harmony with them, it looks completely leather, but in fact it is two-layer.

Screen

The watch screen is completely round, without any dead spots. With a diameter of 1.39 ″, the resolution is 454 × 454, which is quite a lot. Detailed display testing conducted by Alexey Kudryavtsev.

The front surface of the screen is made in the form of a glass plate with a mirror-smooth surface, resistant to scratches. Judging by the reflection of objects, the antiglare properties of the screen are no worse than those of the Google Nexus 7 2013 screen. For clarity, here is a photo in which a white surface is reflected in the switched off screens:

The screen of the Huawei Watch GT is the same dark (the brightness in the photos is 119 for both). The reflection doubling is weak, which indicates that there is no air gap between the layers of the screen. We did not find out how to display an arbitrary image on the watch screen, so we had to test the screen in flashlight mode, that is, when displaying a white field in full screen with maximum brightness. It reached a value of 460 cd / m². Taking into account the excellent anti-glare properties, this will allow you to see the image on the watch screen in strong light conditions (a clear day outside).

On the graph of the dependence of brightness (vertical axis) on time (horizontal axis), when the flashlight mode is turned on (a smooth increase in brightness is visible after the black field is displayed), pronounced modulation with a frequency of 246.7 Hz is noticeable.

However, with rapid eye movements and in the stroboscopic test, no flicker is visible.

This screen uses an OLED matrix - an active matrix based on organic light-emitting diodes. A full-color image is created using subpixels of three colors - red (R), green (G) and blue (B) in equal numbers, which is confirmed by a fragment of a micrograph:

For comparison, you can see the screens used in mobile technology.

The white spectrum is typical for OLED - the areas of primary colors are well separated and appear as relatively narrow peaks:

The color temperature of the white field is approximately 7250 K, and the deviation from the spectrum of a black body (ΔE) is 5.9 units. The color balance, at least in the white area, is good. Black is just black at all angles. It is so black that the contrast setting is not applicable in this case. When viewed from perpendicular view, the uniformity of the white field is excellent. The screen has excellent viewing angles with much less drop in brightness when viewed from an angle than LCD screens. In general, the screen quality can be considered very high.

Interface and functionality

To use your watch, you need to install the Huawei Health app, which is compatible with iOS and Android. It is also used with a number of other wearable devices from the manufacturer, so you need to select your model from the list of proposed ones, after which, most likely, you will be prompted to update the software.

The interface of the watch itself is very simple: one of 11 dials is displayed on the screen. Most of them are stylized as chronographs and display several types of information at once - for example, not only time, but also the number of steps, date, etc. upload new ones.

You can change the dial with a long press on the screen, after which, by swiping from right to left, the user selects the desired option. With the same gesture on the screen in normal mode, you can display three widgets: heart rate, weather and activity. Widgets, unlike watch faces, do not change. If you press the top button while the screen is on, the application menu will open. If you press the bottom - the list of workouts.

Any workout must be manually started and manually stopped. That is, even if, for example, you choose to walk and at some point stop walking, but forget to stop the workout, it will not automatically stop. Information about training and overall activity results is provided in a smartphone application. There you can also see data on heart rate, distance traveled, ascents and sleep.

Sleep, unlike exercise, is tracked automatically. You just go to bed in your watch, and when you wake up, you synchronize your watch with your smartphone and see all the information about your sleep.

Note that there is no smart alarm function (that is, giving an alarm at a certain time interval to wake up in the correct sleep phase). But all statistics on sleep are collected very accurately. The watch does not confuse short awakenings with sleep cessation, for example. Conversely, simply lying in bed is not considered sleep. True, it should be noted that the watch can only record sleep longer than three hours. So siesta lovers (more precisely, those lucky ones who have such an opportunity :)) will not be able to fix their daytime rest.

The following applications are available in the watch menu: "Workouts" (in fact, the same menu opens here as by pressing the lower button), "Records" (the results of past workouts), "Workout status" (you need to train for a week, after which statistics are shown), Heart rate, Activity (number of steps taken per day and duration of training), Sleep (last night's sleep), Barometer (atmospheric pressure), Compass, Weather, Messages ”(the latest notifications of all types),“ Stopwatch ”,“ Timer ”,“ Alarm ”,“ Flashlight ”(just a white screen turned on at maximum brightness),“ Find my phone ”and“ Settings ”.

Note that when you quickly scroll through the list of applications, the interface slows down significantly. Several times we have noticed "freezing" in other scenarios, although not so obvious and repeatable.

As for workouts, it is worth noting a rather wide selection of them (for example, there is swimming in the pool and in the pond; running and walking are several types). Also, as a plus, we note the possibility of warning in case of exceeding a predetermined heart rate threshold during exercise.

But, on the other hand, the watch is still too bulky and heavy for playing sports. In addition, there are doubts that when swimming, the leather of the strap will retain its appearance and will not swell. That is, apparently, for these purposes it is necessary to purchase some other strap (fortunately, the size is standard here).

An important function of this watch is displaying notifications. We can praise the manufacturer, because the Huawei Watch GT displays all types of notifications - it doesn't matter which messenger or application they came from. However, the clock does not separate them in any way, that is, you do not see the name of the application or its icon. Of course, in most cases you can guess - you do remember with whom and where you are in correspondence. And yet, for watches on watchOS / Tizen / Android Wear, this is made clearer and more convenient.

Autonomous work

One of the main features of the Huawei Watch GT is its long battery life. So, if Apple Watch Series 4 can hardly last two days without recharging, then Huawei Watch GT was discharged by only 40% in five days. Therefore, the total duration of use on a single charge is about 12 days.

At the same time, during the testing process, we often turned on the screen, received regular notifications and used a constant heart rate count. Obviously, if you turn it off, the life will be even longer. The manufacturer talks about 14 days, and in this case we have no reason not to trust him.

Another thing is that the active use of training will certainly shorten the duration of the work. And, probably, quite significantly. But in any case, this is many times more than smartwatches from Apple, Samsung, as well as Android Wear models.

conclusions

Huawei Watch GT is an interesting alternative to smartwatches from market leaders. The idea here is that the watch should work for a long time on a single battery charge and be cheap, while having a spectacular and respectable appearance. The rest is secondary. The manufacturer coped with the main tasks. Perhaps this is the best combination of such qualities we have seen. At the same time, the functionality here is also quite good: in particular, there is an automatic heart rate measurement, sleep tracking, many types of training, water resistance ...

The main vulnerability of Huawei Watch GT is the lack of a full-fledged operating system and, therefore, the ability to install third-party applications and watch faces. In addition, since the software part is new and was developed directly for this model, there are still enough flaws, and in general the software is damp. But Huawei is rapidly updating its software, so the product, presumably, will be quite good soon.

Huawei has had experience in developing smartwatches in the past. The first model was the TalkBand B1 fitness tracker, which went on sale in early 2015. A lot of time has passed since that moment. The company managed to present its advanced development under the name Huawei Watch at several more exhibitions, but the start of sales was constantly postponed, and as a result, the new product appeared on the world market only at the end of 2015. Are the hours worth the money and the long wait? How do they differ from competitors? Let's take a look through this review.

Design, case materials Huawei Watch

In preparing the Huawei Watch classic review, we would like to pay special attention to the appearance, which turned out to be simply amazing. The watches began to surprise with their design even at the first presentation, which already promised them great success. But what did the manufacturer go to for the sake of such an effect? He didn’t actually do anything special. The design of a standard classic watch was taken as a basis, which has not been used by any manufacturer before.

So, if the Samsung watch looks futuristic, Asus is too discreet, Motorola is closest, but the impression is spoiled by the cut in the lower part of the dial, in connection with which the picture was with a cutout. The Huawei Watch active review will not reveal all the capabilities of the watch, because it is simply impossible to fit them into one article.

There are three versions of cases on sale: classic steel, steel painted in a golden hue, and also a product in black. Straps are presented in no less variety: metal, mesh, made of smooth or futuristic leather.

The watch case is made of stainless steel, and a sapphire crystal coating is provided to protect the display. It prevents scratches and other damage. The oleophobic coating is quite high-quality, the finger glides over the surface without hindrance, but does not leave any prints.

Straps can be purchased separately. They are securely and easily fixed to the body. If your preference has fallen on the version with a metal strap, then you may need to remove some blocks to adjust to your hand size. This can be done with improvised tools or by contacting the nearest workshop. In this regard, the huawei watch review is no different from the classic.

In terms of design, the watch is undoubtedly the best at the time of this writing. They will suit all lovers of classic watches. The quality of performance is at the highest level, with all the desire there is nothing to complain about.

Dimensions and weight Huawei Watch

The case is 11 mm thick and 42 mm in diameter. The watch is versatile in its size. They will look great on both narrow and wide wrists. In this case, the color and type of strap play a huge role. To a certain extent, the Huawei Watch can be considered a unisex model. The gold-tinted option works well for girls, but the 130 grams weight makes them more masculine.

Huawei Watch display

The screen gives out rich colors, because it is built using AMOLED technology. At 400x400, a 1.4-inch diagonal is used. For comfortable use, we recommend activating auto brightness control, which behaves correctly under any lighting conditions. Manual adjustment allows you to set 1 of 10 brightness modes. When making a Huawei Watch mobile review, we examined the display in detail and did not find any flaws.

The only thing is that if you want, you can find fault with the viewing angles, but in everyday use you don't notice this. Moreover, the colors are distorted slightly, the data retain their readability. The rest of the screen is simply amazing - a gorgeous stock of brightness, rich images and excellent detail. Of course, the screens of modern smart watches still have something to strive for, because they are easy to distinguish from classic watches, but this case rather acts as an exception. The combination of a classic design with a bright display and a well-chosen dial brings it as close as possible to a standard mechanical watch.

Control

While reviewing the Huawei Watch smartwatch, we tried to focus on the features of device control. The control takes place through the touch screen, and on the case itself there is only a single button. It activates silent mode and opens the application menu.

Specifications

Huawei Watch features similar to most other smartwatch models. The heart is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chip with an operating frequency of 1.2 GHz. The picture is complemented by 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB of internal memory, which can be used to store programs and dials. The interface is fast, no bugs or system hangs were found during the testing. The manufacturer did a good job, because not many smartwatch models can now boast a smooth interface.

Pairing Huawei Watch with a smartphone

When buying any smartwatch, you need to consider the purpose of its purchase. This is an important point, because the market for wearable electronics is at the stage of formation and many choose devices for themselves in pursuit of fashion and affordable cost. Many people are faced with such a situation when, soon after purchase, the watch is not needed. As a result, the Internet is already full of negative reviews and stories about the uselessness of smart watches. But this is a misconception. The review of the Huawei Watch did not open up fundamentally new possibilities in them, everything here is typical for the Android Wear OS.

The main function is still displaying the time, with which there are no hiccups. Several hundred different dials are already available, of which about 40 are pre-installed by the manufacturer. They display not only the time in analog or digital form, but also various data, such as the day of the week, missed notifications, current news and much more, depending on your preferences. There are incredibly many options, everyone will find something of their own.

The next function of the watch will be the ability to vibrate about the arrival of text notifications and calls to the phone. This greatly simplifies life, because you don't have to constantly take the device out of your pocket.

Thirdly, it is a good sports tracker that can count the number of steps taken, distance, approximate number of calories burned, and also measure heart rate. Of course, all data is stored on the Huawei Watch and is displayed in the form of convenient graphs.

The watch works on Android Wear OS. Connection is possible to devices on Android and iOS. You can use factory applications and install your own, further increasing the functionality. With the help of the watch, you will always be aware of the latest news, find out the weather and be able to control many functions of your phone. In addition, there are simple games and useful programs.

Autonomy

In the review of the Huawei Watch, we tested the battery life of the gadget with a 300 mAh battery. On average, a full charge lasts up to 2 days of use, but with a lot of activity, they barely survive until the evening of the first day. But this is with a constantly active display and pairing with a smartphone. You expect more autonomy from watches of this level, but this problem remains relevant for most modern models.

Conclusion

The Huawei Watch classic version is sold in an unpainted steel case combined with a metal strap. For this version, the manufacturer requests 30,000 rubles. But the Active version will cost a little more - 38,000 rubles. It features a stylish strap made of silver-colored metal blocks and a black watch case. In our opinion, the price is very high, but this is perhaps the only significant drawback. The design turned out to be great, but it's a matter of everyone's taste, maybe someone won't like them. Smart watches are distinguished by excellent build quality, original appearance, made in the style of classic watches, smooth interface and round screen. We consider the Huawei Watch to be one of the best Android Wear solutions.

"Smart" watches Huawei Watch - overview

Any "smart" watch is my theme: I wear them myself, I also constantly study all sorts of new models. I saw a watch from Huawei for the first time in March of this year: first they were presented at a presentation, and then there was an opportunity to hold a sample in my hands at the company's closed stand. The watches were not shown at the main stand, and the company said that they will not appear in the near future: most likely, closer to the end of the year. And so it happened: watches appeared in stores only somewhere in November-December. And over the time since March, many interesting options from competitors have entered the market. At the time of the presentation of the watch from Huawei, they looked the most stylish of all - at least, I got the impression when I held this model in my hands: a steel case and mesh steel strap. Next to her, the mowing plastic (although they also have a metal case) LG G Watch R looked like a toy for geeks, and Huawei Watch looked like a pretty decent watch, and not a geeky craft.

At the same exhibition, LG showed its LG Watch Urbane in a metal case, and this watch was already in stores by the summer. Well, let's not forget about Motorola Moto 360 - this, as far as I remember, was the first round watch in a steel case. (Although I did not like the Motorola watch with a couple of its more than strange engineering solutions.) And Huawei Watch never came out or came out. Meanwhile, users were promised three variants of the watch case and three variants of straps / bracelets. Cases: "gold" (metal painted in gold), steel, black. Straps / bracelets: massive metal, mesh metal and leather (brown and black).

Interestingly, there is still no gold version on the market. In Europe, steel with three types of straps and black ones with two types (massive steel and leather) are sold, in Russia they are generally presented only with a steel version with a leather strap and a black version with a massive steel bracelet. The price of these watches, to put it mildly, is at least surprising ... Because a steel case with a leather strap is sold in Russia for 29,900 rubles (in Europe - for € 380, that is, for the same money). At the same time, LG Watch Urbane is almost exactly the same in appearance, operating system, and capabilities in Russia for 19,989 rubles. A third cheaper! In the Russian representative office of Huawei, I was kindly provided for study with an option with a steel case and a massive steel bracelet, well, let's see if this watch is worth that much money or not. Huawei Watch Classic is a "smart" watch in a stainless steel case with steel bracelet. Specifications: Display - 1.4 ", 400x400, AMOLED, sapphire crystal, oleophobic coating
CPU - Qualcomm Snapdragon 400, 1.2 GHz
operating system - Android Wear 5.1.1
RAM - 512 Mb
Flash memory - 4 GB
Wireless connection - Wi-Fi b / g / n, Bluetooth 4.1
Battery - 300 mAh
Dimensions - 42 x 11 mm
Weight - 134 grams (with bracelet)
Sensors - accelerometer, gyroscope, heart rate meter
Protection - IP67 (dust and moisture resistant, short-term immersion up to 1 meter)
Price in Moscow - about 30 thousand rubles (in Europe the same - € 380) The characteristics will be compared with the main competitor - LG Watch Urbane. Those have a slightly smaller display (1.3 "), more battery capacity (410 mAh), half the weight (!) And a third less price. The rest of the characteristics are exactly the same. Contents of delivery As usual for top-end gadgets from Huawei - solid and stylish packaging.
Inside, there is beauty in general: Huawei Watch sprawled on a soft sofa surrounded by a luxurious interior. However, we are not interested in packaging, in fact. But it's nice to take this in hand. And as a gift it looks more than solid. The delivery set is expectedly simple: USB-microUSB cable, power adapter, cradle.
Appearance and features Everything is so steel and brutal. Metal and glass. The quality of materials and finishes is very good. The control button is located on the right side not strictly to the right, but closer to the top of the dial.

Side view.

Bottom cover: in the center - the heart rate sensor, on the side - contacts for connecting to the cradle (charging, access from the computer).

Cradle is made here, in my opinion, rather poorly. It is round, without sides, with a magnet and protruding contacts. In theory, when the watch is planted on this cradle, the mother contacts of the watch case should find the masculinely protruding cradle contacts and merge with them in ecstasy. But in practice this does not happen often: you need to look very carefully so that the contacts find each other (there are no sides) and the watch starts charging.

It annoyed me. It is not clear why it was necessary to be so perverted. Did you want to do it gracefully, like Apple's laptops, where the power adapter is on a magnet? Well, Apple has worked it out to the smallest detail - you can't miss. And here it is easy. In the first couple of days, my watch was charged for half a day, as it missed all the time. Then I got the hang of it, but it's still very inconvenient, because all the time you have to carefully monitor this. And all the same, during charging, the watch could fly off the contacts from the slightest shake of the table. Madhouse. Compare with the cradle from LG. He has made corresponding bumpers, with the help of which the watch is absolutely unambiguous, easy and simple to sit on the contact group. And here even the side cannot be confused, because the sides are different in size. The developers did not dare and did everything according to their mind: it is very convenient to use.
Well, let's compare this watch in design. Here I must say that the watch from Huawei looks more stylish. However, this model with a massive metal bracelet weighs like a brick - as much as 134 grams. This weight seems to me too much, I cannot wear such a watch. But this is my personal preference, there are people who like weighty watches. Moreover, Huawei has two more strap options: lightweight metal and leather.
This watch is on.
What is a clear plus of the Huawei Watch - the bracelet is attached to the case in a completely standard way. That is, if you want to use any other watch bracelet, you can safely replace it yourself. With LG Watch Urbane, this number will not work, there the bracelet is sealed tight. Device operation Actually, there is nothing special to say about the operation of the device. The standard Android Wear is installed here, which works as expected: in Huawei, unlike Motorola, they did not pervert and alter the options in their own way or disable them altogether. Therefore, if the "Do not turn off the display" option is enabled, it does not turn off any that time (about 15-20 minutes). If nothing happens to the watch for 15-20 minutes (that is, it just lies on the surface), then the display turns off - out of savings. The LG Watch has done the same, Huawei has made some of its own watch faces, but this one is set by default.

It looks pretty good, but it has a completely nondescript sleep mode, so I didn't like it.

I like Chronos Gold and Chaiman Gold from LG so much (other smartphones, as far as I understand, cannot be installed, that I only use them - despite the fact that I have bought a couple of dozen dials with various settings. Huawei Watch's pulse is measured like this the same as other smartwatches with a similar sensor: on a dry hand they measure more or less normally, on a sweaty hand (during sports) they screw up a lot. (You can read about the operation of the corresponding version of Android Wear in my review of the LG Watch Urbane, because here - almost everything is the same.) Battery life Here, compared to the LG Watch Urbane, there is a quarter less battery capacity (although the body is larger and heavier) and a slightly larger display. Battery life in active mode (connecting to a smartphone, receiving notifications), but with the option to turn on the screen when you shake your hand off (it eats up the battery) it took two days. Just like the LG Watch Urbane. With the connected power-on mode when shaking - about a day and a half. But they charge somewhere in 30-40 minutes at a current of 0.3-0.4 A. But you need to charge from them. own (or similar) adapter, because charging is much slower when the cradle is connected to a computer USB port. Observations at work and conclusions During the testing period, the clock worked steadily, here there are no complaints. In some reviews, I came across a mention of automatic brightness control, which surprised me a lot, since there is no automatic adjustment: neither a sensor, nor a corresponding setting in the options. But, in fact, automatic adjustment is hardly necessary for smart watches - they have a rather narrow range of settings. This watch has a good maximum brightness, but it does not help in the sun: the screen in ambient-mode "fades" strongly, like competitors' watches. They have not yet overcome this case. If you turn on the active mode, then something becomes visible on the display, but it is also difficult to see something. However, I compared this watch with the LG Watch Urban - the Huawei Watch has a slightly better image in direct sunlight. Developers and reviewers emphasize the fact that the display is covered with a sapphire crystal. And I'll tell you this: what the hell is sapphire crystal for such a watch, especially if it increases their price by 150 dollars ?! Why would a $ 250 watch need a sapphire crystal? It's not "Audemar Piguet" for $ 5 thousand, is it? To prevent the glass from scratching? So my LG Watch Urban, which I use in the tail and in the mane, still not a single scratch. Maybe this is done so that the watch can live normally for 5-10 years? So, firstly, in a year or two, the mechanism will die, and secondly, who will wear such a watch for 5-10 years? An ordinary user changes smart watches at least once a year, because more interesting and advanced models are coming out all the time. And all sorts of geeks like me change their watches every 3-6 months. Well, why, pray tell, do we need sapphire glass, which increases the cost by a third, because there is simply nothing else to increase the price so much ?! So this is actually not a good idea in my opinion. There is no balance in such a solution. Now let's list the pros and cons of this gadget. Pros:

good design; three body options; three strap / bracelet options; the ability to install any strap / bracelet; sapphire crystal (apart from the price); beautiful packaging (for gifts, for example); normal Android Wear work.
Minuses:
the price is one third higher in comparison with the nearest competitors; too much weight; entered the market late and not all models are there yet; extremely uncomfortable cradle (when used with a bracelet).
Draw your own conclusions. If you choose the option with a leather strap or a light metal bracelet, the watch will not be too heavy, but will look more stylish than the same LG Watch Urbane. However, such a watch, by the way, will cost 35 thousand rubles (€ 450), which, in my opinion, is a completely absurd price. Well, given the terribly inconvenient cradle, in my case, there is not even a question here: should I change my LG G Watch Urbane to Huawei Watch or not. I'll get by for now. Although I like the design of the Huawei Watch more. And the last thing. Now less eminent Chinese companies enter the market of such watches. They offer decent smartphones with really good characteristics for 12-15 thousand (I have a lot of reviews), and their "smart" watches went with quite normal characteristics. Some time ago, there were all sorts of cheap "smart" watches on the Chinese market (there are still plenty of them), which, of course, did not make any sense to buy - absolutely terrible matrices and their shells were used there. But now there is already a watch with the characteristics of the same flagships LG, Lenovo, Huawei, but they cost the same 11-14 thousand rubles, and not 20 thousand, and even more so not 30 thousand. For example, the same Elephone Smart Watch. (Now they are entering the market, accepting pre-orders.)

On Android Wear, they look stylish, display 1.5 "320x320, MTK2601 chip, 512 MB RAM, 4 GB memory, 400 mAh battery, weigh 60 grams. Price - 8 thousand rubles. 8 thousand, Petya! Not 20, not 30 thousand! Yes, they, of course, will have to be tested yet, but looking at their smartphones, I am almost sure that if not now, then very soon there will be quite decent smart watches on the market at such prices. Something very similar is offered by Mlais for the same money, something similar is offered by other manufacturers.

So a "smart" watch for 30 thousand or more is, in my opinion, a complete utopia. Competition in this sector, as well as with smartphones, will be fierce. Yes, actually, it is already there. Upd: It turns out that the LG G Watch Urbane can also change the strap on your own or in the workshop. It's not very easy, but you can - here's the video: Upd2: I changed the strap of this watch to a plain leather one. It immediately became much better: the watch itself is not heavy, with a simple leather strap on the wrist it fits perfectly - here it is next to the LG G Watch Urbane.

Well, it turned out that with such a strap the magnetic cradle charging works quite well: since nothing interferes with the watch case, they sit on the cradle without problems and do not fly out of there during charging. That is, my complaints relate to the option when the watch is used with a bracelet (especially massive), and when the watch is with a strap - everything is in order with the cradle.

Hello everyone! Today I have another smart watch on review. Huawei joined this arms race relatively late, but the start turned out to be quite powerful. The company did not trick and immediately released the most expensive smartwatch on the market running Android Wear, and did not trick the name. The watch is called "Watch". This is the "original" name.

PACKAGING

Half of this smartwatch is packaging ...

We made the most expensive smartwatch ever! The packaging is also the coolest and obviously not cheap.

In such a package, a Chopard 201 Carat watch would look best, or at worst a Patek Philippe Henry Graves Supercomplication.

And so we have the biggest and coolest packaging for smart watches.

A square box made of solid cardboard of dark color, the texture of the package slightly imitates the skin.

If we remove the top of the box, then we will not see the clock right away.

The smart watch lies on a beige leatherette cushion.

The pad is inserted into a square base, on the sides of the base there are two metal pins, if you pull them, you will see the delivery set.

APPEARANCE

Huawei Watch looks like an ordinary mechanical watch. And if you download a dial with ordinary numbers, then the similarity is almost complete.

I would like to note the rather large weight - 136 grams, not every smartphone weighs so much, but here is a watch. On the wrist, the smartwatch feels quite heavy. To be honest, such a weight of the device on my hand was uncomfortable for me, the watch really pulls the wrist.

This smartwatch is completely made of metal. There are no plastic parts in the design.

For the review, I got a version in black, there will also be silver metallic and gold.

First of all, Huawei Watch looks like a men's watch. The look is brutal and strict. On a man's hairy hand, the gadget looks just fine.

For a feminine elegant handle, the Huawei Watch is still quite large, and the design lacks a feminine touch.

The build quality is excellent. For a long time we can say that Chinese devices are no different from their eminent counterparts. Everything is assembled and manufactured to a very high standard.

For me personally, Huawei Watch turned out to be the most beautiful and stylish smartwatch on Android Wear.

The smart watch has IP67 protection. Therefore, in the watch you can wash your hands, take water procedures and immerse them in water to a depth of 1.5 meters for 30 minutes.

CONTROL ELEMENTS

The Huawei Watch has a round AMOLD display. The screen is covered with a sapphire crystal. I wanted to try scratching the screen, but I was banned. The screen diameter is 1.4 inches and it is one of the largest round screens. The resolution is 400x400 pixels. The pixel density is 286 ppi. Of course, the screen is touch-sensitive. Excellent oleophobic coating. The anti-glare filter is good, in sunlight the screen still fades a little, and also sometimes glares, perhaps it's the sapphire crystal.

A bezel with 12 o'clock graduation runs along the perimeter of the screen, but the bezel itself cannot be rotated.

On the right side of the watch there is a button, which is made in the manner of the classic winding in mechanical watches. The functionality of this button is rather poor. Press twice - we block the smart watch. Single press - returns to the screen with a dial. Long press - opens the smart watch menu. The button itself can be scrolled, but the functionality for this action is not registered in the watch.

On the back of the smartwatch there is a heart rate sensor and a four-pin connector for charging the smartwatch itself.

The watch also has a place for a built-in barometer. Quite convenient, as people who are sensitive to differential pressure can monitor this parameter in real time.

The smartwatch has a built-in 6-axis motion sensor that combines an accelerometer and a gyroscope. Consequently, the time on the watch can be viewed by simply bringing your hand to your face; with this movement, the screen on the smart watch is activated.

BRACELET

The bracelet in the Huawei Watch has a standard 20mm width. This is good as we can fit any other strap / bracelet with the same width.

Out of the box, the bracelet is set to the maximum size.

The clasp on the bracelet is fixed on both sides.

To unfasten the clasp on the bracelet, you need to clamp two buttons on the sides of the clasp itself.

The locks on the bracelet have small screws.

On one side, the screw has been lost and the retainer may spontaneously fall out of the bracelet.

CHARGER

The package includes a special charger. By the way, the docking station itself is made in white blooms.

The method of fastening with a smart watch is magnetic, but you need to combine the contacts on the charger and the watch. It turns out that the dock itself has charging contacts and is not wireless.

The smartwatch can be fully charged in 45 minutes.

CONNECTION AND FUNCTIONALITY

Huawei Watch operates on the Android Wear operating system after version 1.3.1. There is support for all smartphones on Android OS from version 4.3 onwards. With this version of Android Wear, smartphones from Apple are supported, but of course the functionality of a smartwatch will not be as extensive as on smartphones running Android OS.

Android Wear is a proprietary system for wearable electronics, officially presented by Google at the Google I / O 2014 conference. Designed for wearable electronics and, of course, smartwatches. Motorola Moto 360 was the first to be released on this platform. In the future, Google will rely on the Android Wear platform in Wearable Electronics.

And so, to connect the watch to a smartphone, install the "Android Wear" application from PlayMarket and launch it on your device.

The Android Wear app of the same name will be the main software for working with the Huawei Watch. In this application, you can make basic settings for the watch, download new dial skins, install the necessary applications, games, etc.

Apps are broken down into different categories: games, travel, entertainment, health & fitness, communication, work, social media, tools, style in every detail, recommended apps.

We were very pleased with the voice commands themselves. This function works very well and practically without errors. For example, to call a subscriber, you need to say the phrase "Ok Google", and then say the name from the phone book verbatim. You can also speak the text of SMS messages with your voice. Again, say "Ok Google", then the recipient's name and pronounce the message. You can use ready-made voice commands: set an alarm, start a stopwatch, show your heart rate, etc. You can use the navigation, again say "Ok Google" then "Go to Novosibirsk" on the smartphone the Google Maps application will start and a route will be laid to the desired point.

Of the 4GB of disk space on the watch, we have more than 2GB available. You can download music to your smart watch and listen to it using BT headphones.

Displaying different dials is, in fact, one of the main features of a smart watch. In total, the Huawei Watch had 43 downloaded watch faces. For the first time, more than enough. I will not give all the images of the dials, only the most beautiful ones in my opinion.

If you swipe the screen from bottom to top, you can see information about your recent actions. For example, see tips, what files were sent via BT connection, weather information, recent alerts, etc.

Swiping the screen from top to bottom launches the quick settings mode. In this section, you can choose which notifications you will receive on your watch, all or only selected ones, or you can completely turn off all notifications. The second point is the "Theater" mode, when activated, the screen can only be unlocked with a physical button. Then you can set the maximum screen brightness with one click. The last point is the settings of the clock itself.

If you touch the screen once, the main menu of the watch starts. In it, you can see installed applications, set an alarm, use a stopwatch or timer, a flashlight (the screen plays the role of a flashlight), etc.

When swiping from right to left, we also get to the main menu. Here we have a list of contacts from your smartphone. And also shortcuts to quickly launch various applications installed on the watch.

The basic settings menu looks like this:

Brightness. We set the brightness from 1 to 5. In the same place we activate the automatic backlight.

Devices. The item is responsible for BT connection.

The screen is always on. Actually, we choose whether our screen is constantly active or not.

Flight mode. Turns off all activated wireless connections.

Disconnect the power supply. Through this item, turn off the power of the clock.

Reload. Just restarting the clock.

Reset settings. We return the clock to the factory settings.

Change dial. We change the installed dials on the watch.

Special abilities. This item is responsible for inverting the color on the screen, and you can also change the font size.

About the device. This paragraph contains various service information, you can immediately update the watch firmware.

Of course, you can take a call or dial a subscriber's number from the clock, but in this case, further actions will already take place on the smartphone.

The main function of the watch is to display various notifications from your smartphone, and here the script of the notifications themselves is truly limitless. The watch will receive notifications about: SMS messages, calls, WhatsApp, Viber, Skype, etc. Simply put, any application that can send a notification will be displayed on the watch.

The smart watch can be used as a fitness bracelet.

Statistics can be tracked on the smartwatch itself, or you can use Google Fit for this purpose. The data from the smart watch will be duplicated on the smartphone.

OFFLINE OPERATION

The battery in this smartwatch has a capacity of 300 mAh. Let's just say the indicator is not the most outstanding, there are Android Wear devices where the batteries have a capacity of 420 mAh. Simply put, 300 mAh for a large screen with a good resolution, this is very little.

With my mode of use, the Huawei Watch needed to be charged every day. From 9:00 am to 10:00 pm on average, the clock consumed 80% of the battery charge. The maximum that the hours could "live" is 1.5 days. In the absence of an active BT connection, the battery life can be extended to 2 days, but this is the maximum.

CONCLUSIONS

The Huawei online store offers these smart watches for 37.990 rubles. As for me, the price is simply cosmic. I think everyone knows what you can buy for this amount. Enough for a couple of smartwatches from more well-known manufacturers.

PROS:

1. Stylish appearance.

2. Top quality workmanship.

3. Protection according to IP67 standard.

4. Metal case and bracelet.

5. Sapphire crystal.

MINUSES:

1. Very high price.

2. Short battery life.

3. The watch is too heavy.

That's all. Thank you all for your attention.

Good luck and see you soon!
