ESET is a leader in developing advanced IT security solutions against cyber threats. The company was founded in Bratislava (Slovakia) in 1992. At the same time, the unique scanning technology implemented in ESET products preceded the foundation of the company and in 2012 celebrated its 25th anniversary.

The birth of ESET

The history of ESET goes back to 1987, when two young and enthusiastic programmers, Peter Pashko and Miroslav Trnka, found one of the world's first computer viruses. The threat was given the name "Vienna" and a program was written to detect it.

Soon, many other viruses were discovered, which led to the birth of the idea to develop a universal software solution to combat unknown types of threats.

In 1992, young programmers, together with their friend Rudolf Gruby, officially founded the limited liability company "ESET".

Originally developed by just a few enthusiasts, antivirus software has evolved over time into a legendary security solution that is now considered one of the fastest and most effective in the world. High quality and stability of work corresponds to the original concept of its creators - to make advanced technologies available to ordinary users.

Over the years, the company has developed and expanded, but at the same time has always remained true to its philosophical principles - responsibility, reliability and honesty, which, combined with innovation, continue to be the driving force behind ESET's success today.

Present time

ESET is a leader in the development of antivirus software. Headquartered in Bratislava (Slovakia), with offices in San Diego (USA), Wexford (Ireland), London (UK), Buenos Aires (Argentina), Prague (Czech Republic) and Singapore, and a total of over 700 employees , ESET products provide reliable protection for the digital world of users in more than 180 countries around the world.

Since 2005, ESET antivirus programs have been officially presented in Ukraine.

The high quality of ESET products today is confirmed by more than 100 million users around the world, as well as independent experts and authoritative publications. ESET solutions regularly receive awards and recognition from specialists from test laboratories AV-Test, Virus Bulletin, AV-Comparatives, ICSA, Passmark and others. In addition, ESET is one of the few antivirus software vendors whose current product line has received expert opinions from the State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine. 1988: The first antivirus of the company

The predecessor of ESET NOD32 antivirus was born in May 1988. At the same time, the TV series "Hospital on the outskirts of the city" (or "Nemocnica na Okraji Mesta") was very popular on Czechoslovak television. As you know, the first viruses attacked only boot sectors, also located on the "outskirts" of the disk. hospital, it was decided to play with the name of the almost eponymous series, resulting in the antivirus "Hospital on the edge of the disk" (or "Nemocnica na Okraji Disku", ie NOD).

As far as pronunciation is concerned, gradually the classic "ann oudi" supplanted the simpler and more understandable "node!" Later, the NOD32 antivirus system naturally began to radically differ from the first versions of NOD. The system was translated to a 32-bit basis, as evidenced by the prefix "32" to the spelling of NOD32. And now the former separate spelling of NOD32 is already in history. NOD and 32 merged together to form the only correct spelling - NOD32, although today ESET NOD32 software also supports 64-bit operating systems
