Positioning

In the Symbian ^ 3 line of smartphones Nokia C6-01 for the first half of 2011, the most inexpensive solution, the younger brother of Nokia C7, in which the built-in memory was removed, the screen was reduced from 3.5 to 3.2 inches, but nothing else changed. Nokia is trying to create a kind of Nokia 6303 for the mass market, a smartphone for everyone, which will be attractive for cost, quality of work and software. Unfortunately, Nokia forgot about the existence of Android and the fact that this OS came to the middle price segment. In the absence of Android, this model from Nokia could bribe with its metal body and good screen. But only in the absence of Android.

Of course, I proceed from the premise that a smartphone is bought deliberately, and not accidentally. With a deliberate choice of buyers' sympathy on the Android side, but not Symbian, this operating system is losing fans due to the fact that it is somewhat outdated in terms of the interface, does not have a normal number of applications and games, and the OVI Store looks like a scarecrow, and not working normally score. For those who have been using Nokia smartphones for many years, this is a good choice, since Symbian ^ 3 is a work on the bugs of previous versions. But for those who are not stuck on one brand, there is plenty to choose from. If you want to be old-fashioned, choose Symbian ^ 3 products, no one will judge you, they just consider you a little conservative. It's not fashionable for young people, it's not very functional (smartphones are, first of all, additional programs - look for a normal Evernote for Symbian, find KIK, and so on).

Nokia launched the Nokia C6-01 as an answer to those who are a Symbian fan and are looking for good value for money. There are no plans to conquer the market, there is no additional share with this device and cannot be. Though sales of this model will be good, as for the current Symbian models it acts as a kind of gravedigger. In particular, it removes the X6 16 GB and X6 32 GB from the market, making their sales even less, and begins to compete with the X6 8GB, which is much cheaper, but less interesting. Exactly the same story with Nokia 5800, which lingered a bit on the market.

Unfortunately, Nokia is trying to charge as much for an outdated operating system as modern solutions cost. This mark-up allows us to say that Nokia C6-01 is not an attempt to popularize Symbian ^ 3, but rather an attempt to squeeze all the juice out of this OS and get the maximum profit. With a properly functioning marketing department, the cost of this product should be about 200 euros (and not the declared 260 euros). The brand markup in Nokia's position is devastating, but the company is doing it again. Sorry.

I will repeat a short conclusion - this phone is interesting for those who are accustomed to Symbian, are conservative, are not interested in novelties and choose a phone for several years without feeling the need to install additional programs, games, in a word, they are satisfied with a small number of applications that are about as outdated as and Symbian.

Design, dimensions, controls

Nokia designers did their best and tried to give this model the look and feel of the 8000 series, as they did for the Nokia 6700 Classic. The battery cover is made of stainless steel, and this is not a thin strip of metal, but an impressive piece. The bezel around the screen is chrome-plated, which also hints at metal. An inexpensive phone gives out only the upper part of the case on the back side; inexpensive plastic looks too unpresentable here. But I will note again that this is a matter of taste, and on the whole the device evokes only positive feelings outwardly. Weight - 131 grams, size - 103.8x52.5x13.9 mm. In his hands he lies perfectly, pulls his hand off with his weight. It must be remembered that people often associate weight with reliability, here this feeling is in abundance.

There are two colors available - black and dark silver (Black / Silver Gray). For my taste, both will find their fans. The model does not have a clearly expressed gender characteristic, it is suitable for both men and women.

Comparison with Nokia N8:

Comparison with Nokia C7:

The front panel contains a front camera for video calls, as well as a light indicator (to the left of the speaker, as well as a proximity sensor). Call / end buttons and the menu button are made mechanical, which is a plus. In the style of the phone, a lock slider is made on the right side, it is metal, or at least it looks like metal. Convenient. There is also a camera button and a volume rocker, this button is very small and tight, it is inconvenient to use it.

At the bottom, there is a microUSB connector, a 3.5mm jack for a headset, and a 2mm connector for a charger, and a charging indicator (glows white when charging).

The speaker for the hands-free and ringtone is located on the back of the device. There is also a two-section LED flash and an 8-megapixel camera without autofocus.

There are no complaints about the build quality, the device is quite tightly assembled, it is good in this parameter.

Display

The screen has a resolution of 640x360 pixels, 3.2 inches, it is covered with glass (this is the name of a special plastic, similar to X6, C7) and displays up to 16 million colors. The screen type is AMOLED, by analogy with the N8, it can be assumed that the supplier is also Samsung. Unlike the Nokia C7 and N8, a special polarization layer has been added over the screen to improve the display's behavior in direct sunlight. This type of screen is called ClearBlack Display (CBD).

Indoors, it is impossible to notice any difference between Nokia N8 and Nokia C6-01 in terms of picture quality on the screen, the devices are the same. In the sun, they also do not differ much, at least in the dim autumn sun. However, see sample photos.

Comparison with Nokia C7 (Nokia C6 below):

Comparison with Samsung Wave (Nokia C6 below):

The screen accommodates up to 16 lines of text (not in all modes), three font sizes are supported, they are selected when setting up the phone.

A built-in ambient light sensor automatically adjusts the backlight based on ambient conditions. As a rule, the level is underestimated, so it is better to set the value in the menu that is comfortable for you (I have it 60-65 percent of the maximum). You cannot manually adjust the backlight level. Compared to Nokia N8, backlight adjustment works worse, often the grease on the glass makes its own corrections. I don't know what it is connected with, but the backlight level is often underestimated.

The bottom line about the screen is the following: no worse and no better than the Nokia C7 / N8 in terms of picture quality, perhaps it will be a little better in the bright sun. The smaller diagonal makes it less convenient (the on-screen keyboard is smaller), but the difference is not important. A good, modern screen, there are not enough stars from the sky, but it also has no obvious disadvantages.

Memory, memory cards

The memory in the phone is 340 MB, it is reserved for regular applications or your data. There is no built-in additional memory (for example, the Nokia C7-00 has 8 GB), but there are microSD memory cards up to 32 GB. The memory card slot is located under the back cover.

The phone has 256 MB of RAM (for the Nokia N97 Mini it is 128 MB). For Nokia, this is a giant leap forward, which should have meant increased stability and speed. With speed, this is true, but with stability, everything is not so cloudless. I'll make a reservation that it is better than on other devices from the company, but not as good as it should be.

Battery

Used battery BL-5CT, its capacity is 1050 mAh. With it, the device can work up to 380 hours in standby mode, from 5.5 to 12 hours in talk mode (UMTS / GSM).

The device uses a new architecture, which together with Symbian ^ 3 provides increased operating time in each mode. Let's look at the operating time of the device in different modes (theory and practice):

  • Video playback up to 7 hours (I got 6.6 hours);
  • Music playback up to 50 hours (standard headphones, music in repeat mode - 49 hours);
  • Video recording - 3 hours 40 minutes (3 hours 10 minutes, maximum specifications)

The differences from Nokia N8 are noticeable, the battery life has increased with the same capacity, and noticeably.

The disadvantages include the fact that on average the phone works no more than 2 days anyway. Compared to many competitors who live no more than one day, this is a good indicator. The energy eater is a desktop with widgets (they are gluttonous, like any data transfer, except for Wi-Fi). When browsing network pages, battery power is also actively wasted. Based on the operating time, it becomes clear why the frequency of the ARM11 processor is only 680 MHz, this is a compromise to achieve the longest operating time.

The total charging time for the phone is approximately 2 hours.

USB, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi

USB... In the USB settings, you can select one of 3 operating modes:

  • Data Storage (Mass Storage USB) - both phone memory and memory cards are visible, no drivers are required, the OS recognizes the phone itself.
  • OVI Suite - work with OVI Suite, access to all functions of the device, backup of all information, and so on.
  • Printing & Media - photo printing, MTP mode.

The data transfer rate is about 5.5 Mbps. When you connect the USB cable, the phone is charged.

Bluetooth... This is the third Nokia model with Bluetooth 3.0, also called High Speed. When transferring files to other devices that support this technology, Wi-Fi 802.11 n is used, and the theoretical transmission speed is about 24 Mbps. Testing the transfer of a 1 GB file from Samsung Wave S8500 to Nokia N6 and vice versa showed a maximum speed of about 10 Mbps within three meters between devices. When transferring large files, the connection is often interrupted, which is not observed when transferring files from Nokia N6 to another similar device or from Samsung to Samsung. Apparently, there is some kind of incompatibility of settings. At the same time, the transfer of large files to regular S60 smartphones is also interrupted at times (BT 3.0 is not used here).

The model supports various profiles, in particular, Headset, Handsfree, Serial Port, Dial Up Networking, File Transfer, Object Push, Basic Printing, SIM Access, A2DP. Working with headsets does not raise any questions, everything is routine.

Wi-Fi... The standard 802.11 b / g / n is supported, this is not the first device on the market with such a set of protocols. Everything works like a clock, no questions asked. There is a wizard for searching for Wi-Fi networks, there is also a corresponding widget (I installed it myself, it's convenient).

Camera

A regular 8MP camera without autofocus, just like in the Nokia C7. Surprisingly, Nokia chased after megapixels, abandoning autofocus. In my opinion, it was better to put a 5MP camera with autofocus than the one worth it. Image quality is acceptable on a clear day at long distances. The camera simply does not know how to shoot close up, photographs of text are something with something, and with a flash the camera also produces mediocre results. For Symbian, the quality of cameras has always come first, but the situation is exactly the opposite. In my opinion, this is a very big drawback, since the camera does not stand up to any criticism, its quality is below average, if not worse. However, look at the photos for yourself.

Examples of pictures from the camera:

Video... The camera records video in 720p resolution (25 frames per second, H.264 codec). The video quality is normal.

Software

Let me remind you that all the features of Symbian ^ 3 are described as much as possible in the review. I do not think it possible and necessary to repeat myself separately, the review describes all the functionality of this OS.

Impression

There is only one speaker in the phone, but it is loud and clear, the call is heard from clothes, bags, in a word, the device is loud. I like that the vibrating alert shakes with a small tremor, but someone will consider it weak, there will probably be most of them. There are no complaints about the connection quality, everything works perfectly.

The model is somewhat boring, it does not offer interface updates, everything is expected. If you get used to Symbian, then this device will not disappoint you. Want a modern operating system, then Android is worth looking at. Unfortunately, Symbian is a bit outdated morally, it will suit conservative consumers.

This device has all the capabilities of Nokia C7 and Nokia N8, it has USB on the Go, DivX support out of the box, the display loses to the older models only in the diagonal. If you don’t want to overpay quite a lot of money for older models, you buy this device for 260-270 euros (in Russia the price starts from 14,000 rubles). It is easy to find competitors for this model on the market, there are many touchscreen models for a comparable price, many of them are based on Android and have certain advantages or, on the contrary, are inferior to this device. In any case, already in February-March we will face a new generation of Android devices in this price group. Of the interesting alternatives today I can recommend HTC Gratis, Motorola Defy (protected Android phone). But that's what I like. Unfortunately, Nokia C6-01 turned out to be very boring in spirit, it doesn't please. Perhaps someone will like such a boring device. I do not know.

And finally - a summary of the characteristics of Nokia C7, C6-01 and Nokia N8.

At the time of its release in 2010, one of the most advanced devices based on the Symbian operating system was Specifications this mobile device was practically in no way inferior to the then flagships of this Finnish company - C7 and E8. But at the same time, the cost of this gadget was much lower. As a result, the hero of this review perfectly combined democratic cost and excellent hardware specifications.

The market segment that this smartphone was targeting. Equipment

The gadget Nokia C6-01 was aimed at the segment of the most productive and most functional devices. User reviews really distinguish its excellent characteristics, which were in no way inferior to the then flagships of this platform. The key difference was in the screen size and resolution. By reducing these two characteristics of this mobile device, it was possible to make it affordable in terms of cost. The complete set of the same mobile device included the following:

    Mobile device.

    Removable batteryBL-5 ST.

    AC-15 charging adapter.

Micro SD memory card with a nominal capacity of 2 GB.

CA-179 wire for synchronizing a mobile device with a computer.

Operating instructions, supplemented by a warranty card.

The above list is quite enough for comfortable work on such a device. It can only be supplemented with a cover and a film for the front panel, which would provide its protection. But with careful use it was still possible to do without these twoaccessories.

Design. Ease of use

Two possible color options for the design of the case were provided for such gadgets: gray and black. The dimensions of the body of this monoblock were equal:103 mm long, 52 mm wide and with a maximum thickness of 13.9 mm. The weight of the "smart" phone with such characteristics was equal to 131 grams. Now such characteristics cannot surprise anyone, but 5 years ago the situation was completely different, and this smartphone, one might say, was considered almost the standard.

A significant part of the front panel area was occupied by a touchscreen display. Its diagonal length was 3.2 inches. Under the screen were now unpopular mechanical buttons. In the center was the button for calling the menu, and to the left of it was the button for making a call, and on the right was the end of the conversation. Only 2 elements were displayed above the display. One of them is the earpiece and the other is the front camera. All wired interfaces wereare grouped at the bottom of the Nokia C6-01.

Characteristics devices indicated the presence of the following of them: 3.5 mm audio port, proprietary charging connector and micro-USB. Also on the right side of the smartphone were mechanical control buttons. There were volume controls, a lock slider and a control button for the main camera. On the back cover of the "smart" phone, the main camera, its backlight system and a loud speaker were displayed. Also, the manufacturer did not forget to place his logo here.

CPU. Its capabilities and specifications

Very, very little specific information about the central processing unit on which thenokia C6-01 phone. The technical specifications only indicate its architecture -ARM11and the clock frequency is 680 MHz. The number of computing cores in this semiconductor chip is also known - 1. Of course, now such characteristics look very, very modest, but in 2011 it was one of the most productive central processing units for mobile devices. The theoretical and circuit design of this CPU was carried out by a British companyARM Limited, and practical - FinnishNokia.

Screen. Its parameters

The diagonal of the screen, as noted earlier, was 3.2 inches in Nokia C6-01. Characteristics also indicated that its resolution was 640x320 px. The matrix of this screen was made using a technology that is quite good even by today's standards.AMOLED. As a result, the color rendering in this case was at an acceptable level. The screen itself could display about 16 million different color shades. Also, this mobile device was equipped with a fairly efficient video card ВСМ2727, developed byBroadcom.

RAM and integrated storage for programs and data

The amount of RAM in this case was 256 MB. This was quite enough for stable and reliable operation of the system software represented by Symbian. 1 GB is the total internal storage capacity of the Nokia C6-01 phone. The characteristics of the device indicated that the user of them could only count on 340 MB. Definitely, such a volume was not enough even then for comfortable work on such a mobile gadget. A memory card with a capacity of 2 GB was included with the device. It was with its help that the problem of lack of resources in the memory subsystem was solved. Also, if necessary, you can buy another such drive with a maximum size of 32 GB.

Cameras

The main camera was very high quality even by today's standards in Nokia C6-01. A photo and the videos taken with its 8MP sensor are really good. The maximum photo format is 3264x2448 px, and the video is 720 r with an update period of 25fps... Also, for taking photographs in low light conditions, the gadget was equipped with a double LED backlight. The front camera in this case had a 0.3 megapixel sensitive element and allowed taking photos and recording video in the formatVGA (i.e. 640x480 px). This was only enough maximum for making video calls.

Autonomy situation

As noted earlier, the model of the complete battery in C6-01 wasBL-5ST. Its capacity has been set at 1050 mAh. According to the companyNokia, this value was enough for 5 hours of talk time in cellular networks of format 3G,for 12 hours in standard networksGSMand 420 hours standby time. In reality, depending on the load, on a single charge bathatyards in this case could last from 2 to 4 days.

Interfaces

In terms of the range of supported information transfer methods, this mobile device was practically in no way inferior to modern smartphones. The list of its interfaces included the following:

Support for two types of cellular networks: 3G (UMTS standard, up to 7.2 Mbps) and 2G (GSM standard, up to 500 kbps).

Wi-Fi module allowed data transfer at speeds up to 150Mbps. There was support for versions of this standardb, g and of course n.

Another important component of the communication system is Bluetooth.

Navigation capabilities in this gadget were represented by two transmitters: GPS and A-GPS.

For synchronization with computers, the gadget was equipped with a micro-USB port.

To output musical compositions to external acoustics, as well as to carry out conversations with it, the device was equipped with a 3.5 mm audio port.

Software

The hero of this review functioned under the control of an operating system called Symbian. She belonged to the S60 5.0 family. Well, according to the official specification on the manufacturer's website, the version of this system software was 9.4. By installing application applications, it was possible to significantly expand the functionalityNokia C6-01. Programs could be installed from the brand store of this platform -Ovi.The list of pre-installed softwaresecuring included the following:

    Navigation serviceOvi Mapsversion 3.0.

Organizer with a full set of gadgets (calendar, calculator, to-do lists, reminders and notes).

    Branded mail client.

    Built-in browser.

The Nokia C series was launched in June 2010 as an entry-level device; the C1 and C2 models were launched into production, which became quite advanced devices that entered the market. Some time later, appeared, which can easily be mistaken for the device of the E series, and even later - Nokia C5, a powerful smartphone very much reminiscent of the old Nokia 6300. The last phone in this series, Nokia C6, can be regarded as a cheaper version of the N97.

A Symbian-based smartphone has all the important features one would expect from a mid-range device, but it won't offer the user any new, innovative features. On the other hand, one cannot say that some of the characteristics of this slider are weak. And to make it even more attractive, the Finnish manufacturer offers all these delights for a price that you can easily afford.

Launched in April 2010, the Nokia E5 hit the market in July 2010 and costs around $ 300, depending on where it is sold. There are only two colors to choose from - black and white.

Design

The Nokia C6 has some of the features found in XpressMusic smartphones, such as a QWERTY keyboard and touchscreen display. If you take the 5800 XpressMusic, which entered the market two years ago, and put it next to the new C6, you can see an amazing similarity. And it's not just a phone that looks almost the same as Nokia's first touchscreen smartphone, it clearly suggests that the manufacturer is more focused on functionality than design.

But let's see how this phone looks in general. Nokia C6 has a 3.2-inch touchscreen display that occupies almost the entire front surface of the device. Above the display, near the speaker, there is an additional (front) camera and a small ambient light sensor. Below the display are three mechanical keys, much like the 5800.
The center key blinks all the time at a low rate, but it can also notify the user about missed calls or received messages by blinking more often. On the right side of the phone are two volume keys, a sliding lock / unlock key, and a camera shutter button. The microSD expansion card slot is located on the left side of the phone and is covered with a long plastic strip. The bottom of the device houses a small charger port, while the top side houses a MicroUSB port and a standard 3.5mm audio jack.

Sliding the Nokia C6 to the right gives the user a full 39-key QWERTY keyboard and a large D-pad on the right. The keyboard is divided into two, as you can see in the pictures. This can be a little confusing at first, but using it often can quickly get used to. The keyboard is made of cheap plastic, and you can feel it from the first touch. Well, at least the keys are "responsive" and the space between them is wide enough, and typing on the Nokia C6 keyboard will not be a problem. The backlight is also quite decent, so users will be able to type even in dark environments. There is no concern about the shear mechanism, it seems to be quite solid.

The 5 megapixel camera behind the back of the phone is equipped with a small LED flash, but has no protective lenses. There is also a small speaker located to the right of the camera module.

The battery cover, like the entire back of the phone, is made of cheap plastic, which contrasts sharply with the stylish materials used in the front panel. But on the other hand, the rear panel will not have as many stains as the front panel after a couple of minutes of using the device.

In general, the phone looks compact and quite “earthy”, it has nothing new and will not stand out “from the crowd”.

Display and camera

The Nokia C6 is equipped with a 3.2-inch resistive display with 16 million colors and a resolution of 360 × 640 pixels. It can be operated with a stylus (if you have one) - but it is not included in the package. Since this is a resistive display, miracles are not to be expected and cannot be compared to devices that have a capacitive display.

The quality of the "picture" is undoubtedly good, including the characteristics of brightness and contrast (at their maximum level), but in sunlight it fades. The phone is equipped with an accelerometer for "auto-rotate the display" and for the "turn-to-mute" function.

The C6's 5 megapixel camera has autofocus, diode flash, geotagging (where the photo was taken), and a nice standard interface. But the camera lacks new features like smile detection, face detection, and squinting warning. The camera user interface seems to be the same as that used in the cameras of the Nokia 5800 and N97 models.

The camera can take pictures with a resolution of 2592 × 1944 pixels, and it saves images to memory quickly enough. All settings and functions can be shown on the touch screen: contrast, white balance, ISO sensitivity, clarity, color tone and more.

There is a "shutter release" button on the screen that allows the user to take pictures without using the physical camera key. Unfortunately, the soft-key does not support half-pressing, so if you use it, you will have to forget about the autofocus function.

The phone is also equipped with an additional camera for video calls, which can also be used for taking pictures. The main camera can shoot VGA clips at 30fps, while the secondary camera can record QVGA video at 30fps. As you can see below, the images captured by the C6 are not as spectacular, but still of decent quality.

Menu and software

Nokia C6 runs Symbian 9.4 operating system with S60 5th Edition interface, exactly the same as that of its predecessor N97 mini. There are practically no improvements to the graphical interface, moreover, the user interface is even poorer in terms of options and menus. Well, at least you can enjoy the kinetic scrolling that was needed when the 5800 hit the market.

All the changes that have been noticed are "on the surface", for example, slightly improved the "home screen". In fact, this screen in the C6 is a kind of mixture of a widget-style screen and a normal active in standby screen. But you don't have to expect a lot of customizable screens - it will only be disappointing.

Nokia C6 gives you the opportunity to have only one “home screen”, which can be customized with various widgets in minimized blocks that can be collapsed and expanded. To hide the entire set of home screen widgets, you just need to swipe from left to right, and by doing the same, you can show them again. By clicking on the area near the battery icon, in the upper right corner of the screen, you can get quick access to the clock and communications area, and there you can turn Bluetooth, WiFi and other communication functions on and off.

To turn on the main menu, press the middle key under the display, select
Options / Organize to organize the menu view convenient for you. The home screen has customizable quick access panels that contain application icons that the user has pre-installed. They now work as widgets and even entertain the bulk of users a little.

There are preinstalled applications such as clock, notes, office, voice recorder and other Symbian-specific functions.

The device has a variety of input methods - stylus (which is not included), plectrum and finger touch are supported for text entry and interface control, but best of all, of course, is a full QWERTY keyboard.

Several key apps preinstalled on the Nokia C6 include: Comprehensive Calendar, Notepad, Calculator, File Manager, Voice Recorder, Paint Program, Font Magnifier, Shazam, Associated Press Mobile, Bloomberg, CNN Video, ESPN Soccernet, Facebook, Friendster, Hi5 , MySpace, slideshow. There is no Media submenu, but you can find a few of the apps you need in the Music section - a music player, stereo FM radio with RDS, and Ovi Music.

There is also a YouTube client, a PDF reader, and QuickOffice applications that can only be used to display documents and can only be edited after a paid upgrade has been purchased. And you can have fun with the pleasant game Bejeweled Twist, developed by PopCap.

Communication options

Nokia C6 operates in four GSM standards (850/900/1800/1900), is compatible with HSDPA 900/1900/2100 (3.6 megabits / sec), and has GPRS class 32 (100 kbps), EDGE class 32 (296 kbps) / sec) and Wi-Fi 802.11 b / g. This makes it a truly versatile device when it comes to transmitting or receiving data.

Setting up communication functions (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth) with the help of a shortcut button on the “home screen” is very simple, even if you have to double-click in some places.

The built-in browser is exactly the same as in the older N97 phone, but received minor improvements and bug fixes. It now has full support for Java and Flash, and that support works well. You can watch videos from YouTube, but it seems that due to the small display, the entire frame of the clip may not be visible.

There were also some improvements in terms of speed over the N97. The best improvement is kinetic scrolling, which works just like a charm. Other browser improvements: auto-complete, RSS reader, download manager, password manager, pop-up blocker.

The phone has a GPS receiver that works in conjunction with Ovi Maps. The location time was checked and the Nokia C6 performed pretty well. The built-in GPS receiver has A-GPS function, which makes positioning even faster. It quickly finds its place on the map, even if the phone is indoors.

Other connectivity tools include Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP and EDR support, and microUSB for syncing with a personal computer (but not recharging through it).

With regard to messaging, the phone offers a complete solution, accepting all possible types of messages. What's more, because of the full QWERTY keyboard, writing messages will be faster. The messaging client works with POP3, SMTP, and IMAP4 protocols, and supports more than one email account. It can download both headers and full messages, and supports attachments.

The quad-band (GSM 850 / GSM 900 / GSM 1800 / GSM 1900) smartphone has very good GSM signal reception. The sound is very good at both ends and is also loud enough. The vibration alert is also more than average in intensity.

Processor and memory

Nokia C6 is equipped with the same processor as the N97 - ARM11, clocked at 434 MHz. The device works "clean", but delays are noticed if applications are used and the browser is open. It seems that this is now the main problem of Symbian devices, and most of the other problems have been resolved.

The smartphone has 240 megabytes of internal memory, but only 200 of them are available to the user. The memory can be expanded up to 16GB thanks to the hot-pluggable slot. And the package includes a 2 GB microSD memory card.

Multimedia

The player in the smartphone is standard, the same as in Nokia N97 and Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, and it hasn't undergone any major changes. There are five preset EQ modes: Bass booster, Classical, Jazz, Pop, and Rock. Other settings include balance, noise, and stereo expansion.

The device has an FM radio with RDS function, but no FM transmitter. Reception is very good and sound quality is above average. The presence of Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP support will allow you to listen to music wirelessly.

The 3.5mm standard headphone jack is a nice addition as it allows you to replace the headphones that came with your phone (WH-102). The built-in video player does not have DivX and XviD codecs, so you need to find a third-party application to watch such movies. All in all, the music sound in the Nokia C6 is very decent in all aspects and is worth listening to.

The 1200 mAh Li-Ion battery (model BL-4J) has an officially announced standby time of 384 hours (384 for 3G), and about 7 hours of talk time (5 hours for 3G). It was noted that the phone has a very good battery life when playing music (30 hours officially), while talk time in most cases is about 3 hours, regardless of which network is used. We managed to hold the phone for about 5 days, with 25 minutes of calls per day and about 1-2 hours with music playback per day. The phone can be said to have a decent battery, much better than other N series phones or XpressMusic.

Impression

Nokia C6 is an interesting addition to the C-series phone line, but there is nothing in it that could really surprise users. As if the manufacturer chose to "wrap" the standard functionality in the old design, only to be sure that the phone will be 100% comfortable and that there are as few drawbacks as possible. It gives the impression of being unfinished, but at the same time versatile.

What well

The list of good features that the Nokia C6 has is long, but we can say that there is a noticeable increase in performance and usability, compared to similar Nokia devices such as the N series and several XpressMusic smartphones. The key features of the Nokia C6 are: excellent 3.2-inch resistive touchscreen (640 x 360 pixels); full QWERTY keyboard; 3.6 Mbps HSDPA support, decent 5.0-megapixel autofocus camera with VGA video recording at 30 fps; Wi-Fi; GPS with A-GPS and lifetime free licensed navigation; microSD memory cards (16 GB supported, 2GB included); 3.5mm headphone jack; Smart dialing mode; stereo FM radio with RDS; Flash support in a web browser; decent sound quality; kinetic scrolling.

What is wrong

Compared to the huge list of good qualities, the list of disadvantages is rather short, but it can prevent users from choosing it over competing brands. It seems that the main problem of the device is a primitive interface that seems outdated and poor both in terms of settings and its functions. We can also note the fadedness of the display in direct sunlight, as well as the lack of a protective camera lens and support for DivX or XviD. And it would be nice to be able to edit documents, but the QuickOffice app that ships with your phone needs an update.

Nokia C2-03 and Nokia C2-06 \u200b\u200b- dual-card, stylish, touch

Until recently, Nokia did not release phones with support for two SIM cards at the same time, and now it offers a choice of several models at once. So far, the most functional of them are Nokia C2-03 and Nokia C2-06. In this case, the only difference between them lies in the colors of the case. Both new products from the Finnish company have several advantages at once. Let's get to know them better.

It has long been famous for its devices. And this is no accident - after all, Nokia directs all its resources to the creation of only mobile technology, in particular smartphones - different in appearance, weight, size and internal potential.

First, briefly about what smartphones and sliders are. The first word has nothing to do with the surname of the famous actress Amy Smart. It comes from the English smart and translates as "smart phone".

A smartphone is a mobile phone with a developed operating "stuffing". In fact, this is a mini-computer with which you can watch videos, listen to audio, to which you can download various applications, etc.

The slider is a system of two panels that can be easily moved and extended with your fingers. In one such panel there is a display, in the other - a keyboard. Accordingly, at any time you can either hide the keyboard under the screen, making the phone more compact, or, conversely, pull it out and type something.

The diagonal of the display is 3.2 inches (38x70 mm), the resolution is 640x360 pixels, the aspect ratio is 16: 9. The picture is rich and bright, it is pleasant to look at the screen. But it should be noted that there is no transflective layer on the screen, so it is rather problematic to view the image in bright sunlight.

When you change the position of the smartphone, the screen can automatically rotate.

Keyboard

There is no virtual full-size keyboard in this smartphone. But there is no need for it - after all, you can use the push-button keyboard, which is hidden under the display. A light flick of your finger is enough to move the screen to the side, and you will immediately find a small, handy panel with buttons that can be easily removed if desired. The keyboard is made according to the QWERTY principle - that is, the arrangement of letters in it is the same as on a regular laptop. Therefore, if you are used to working with such a configuration, the model will be especially convenient for you.

The buttons are large, convex and tightly spaced without gaps. There is also a uniform white backlight, thanks to which you can safely type in the dark. Generally speaking, the owners almost unanimously consider the keyboard to be one of the main advantages of the smartphone and praise it in every way.

Battery

Of course, any self-respecting music lover will certainly buy a better device. But if you are not a music lover and spend most of your time in the office, this is unlikely to be a big disadvantage for you.

The audio performance of the device should not be exaggerated, but it should not be underestimated either. During conversations, no problems with sound are observed; in this respect, the owners amicably praise the device. The volume of the calls is quite high, and you can hear them even with a lot of noise.

Other functions

The model is capable of supporting such popular and familiar functions as Wi-Fi, 3G and GPS navigation. However, when loading large sites, the browser seriously slows down. But if you are not "greedy" (that is, do not start loading more than three "heavy" windows at the same time), then you can safely hope for stable work.

Of the other useful things, it is worth noting a voice recorder - and the sound is recorded quite high quality, many smartphone owners consider this one of its advantages. In addition, speakerphone and FM radio are at your service. There are also such standard chips as an alarm clock and a calculator.

Let's sum up

So what good can you say about? It is a side slider with an ergonomic QWERTY keyboard that hides behind the touchscreen. It looks quite attractive and even solid, but the "internal" features also deserve attention.

Among the main advantages, the owners include, first of all, a keyboard with convenient buttons, a good screen, good sound, and also such an important quality as shockproof. Judging by the reviews, the smartphone perfectly tolerates falls not only on the floor, but even on the asphalt (albeit from a height of no more than 1-2 meters). The quality of photography is also praised, but it is noted that it is advisable to photograph in good lighting or in daylight.

Some people don't like the lack of a stopwatch and USB charging. However, these disadvantages are relative - many (even, most likely, the majority) do not need such functions at all.

The iron in the apparatus is, of course, relatively weak. But here, oddly enough, you can see a kind of plus - after all, this means that the smartphone is not at all greedy in terms of power consumption. And if you do not need a powerful device such as the Samsung Galaxy Note and you are looking for a medium-sized and inexpensive device, it will be fine.

In general, the smartphone is quite functional and easy to operate. It can be used by both a schoolboy and a student, as an office worker, and a construction worker. After all, there is another advantage that you also need to remember: in the price category, it is not too expensive and is available to almost everyone.
