Armored Warfare: system requirements and description

- a new multiplayer online action game about tanks. The game was developed by the popular American studio Obsidian Entertainment. The game will be distributed according to the free-to-play model. Armored warfare: Armata Project powered by the CryEngine game engine.

Armored Warfare: Project Armata is a part . The developers have provided a modern level of graphics, a high degree of detail and destructibility, as well as a dynamic environment. Players will have to take control of modern tanks and other types of military equipment, including armored personnel carriers and artillery.

Plot

The game takes place in the near future. The player acts as the leader of a private military corporation, which takes part in hostilities around the world, and forges connections with major suppliers of armored vehicles.

Presently Armored Warfare: Project Armata - the only project of this scale, absolutely dedicated to battles with the use of armored vehicles from different countries of the world, ranging from models produced in the 1950s, ending with the most modern models.

Gameplay

Players independently determine what type of equipment they will control: a light or main battle tank, an armored reconnaissance vehicle, artillery, or a tank destroyer. Damage system in Armored Warfare: Armata Project hybrid: vehicles have a standard HP bar and secondary indicators that show the level of armor damage and the damage received. In case of damage, the type of armor, its thickness, the type of projectile that caused the damage, and the angle of impact into the armor are taken into account. The last indicator will determine whether damage is normal or critical. Crete not only causes serious damage to equipment, but also disables it or injures the crew members.

The control of military equipment is performed by the crew, the number of which varies depending on the type and model of the vehicle. Tankers have a customizable set of skills that can be increased with leveling. The central link of the crew is the commander, who has his own unique development system.

Game modes

The game features 2 modes: PVP and PVE. In PvP battles, gamers are divided into 2 teams of 15 people each. The goal is to destroy the equipment of the opposing side or capture the enemy base. In PvE mode, a group of 5 players will need to complete various missions around the world, which consist of several special operations. Players are opposed by enemy armored vehicles, which are controlled by artificial Intelligence... The PvE mode consists of 4 difficulty levels, and each team can choose the feasible one for themselves. For the successful fulfillment of the contract, players should carry out specific combat missions, such as the destruction of the enemy's Anti-Aircraft Missile Complex, the capture of strategically important objects, the detection of enemy shelters, and others.

Features:

Gameplay difference Armored Warfare: Project Armata from other game tanks, the presence in the game of anti-tank guided missiles, smoke screen systems and counter-battery firing mechanics. While firing a guided missile, the player can change the trajectory of its movement directly in flight, which will allow you to hit moving targets or targets behind obstacles. The smoke screen almost instantly hides the player's tank from the field of view of enemy artillery for several seconds, which is enough to change its location. The counter-battery radar allows the artillery of one team to easily detect enemy Self-Propelled Artillery Installations - after a shot, their location is displayed on the map with a special mark.

Various groups of players are available in the game:

  • Platoon is a group of 5 people for joint participation in PvP battles or PvE missions.
  • The battalion is a large long-term association of players, an analogue of clans and guilds in other game worlds. There is a strict hierarchy of battalion members. The battalions have their own name, logo and unique tag.

Armored Warfare: Project Armata PC Release will take place on September 13, 2015.

Many players must know firsthand the Obsidian Entertainment company. She is the one who designs "Armored Warfare: The Armata Project". A large number of entertaining gameplay came out under her name. The company specializes in RPG, so it seems interesting to take part in the design of a release in a rather unusual genre. The main difference between the monitored game and the same development of its main competitor "is the time of action: there are no ancient" T-34 ", and everything is run by technology modern type with powerful force.

Do not even think about the barely moving ancient military transport. In Armored Warfare, "Abrams" and "Leopards" literally almost fly across the battlefield, which contributes to an increase in game dynamics. The first clashes begin already in the first seconds of battles: squads of tanks, controlled by players, move around the map at speed, hiding in closely spaced shelters, and making a breakthrough to the rear to the artillery in this game acquires the status of not a simple tactical move, but a matter of strict obligation.

Armata project system requirements

The system requirements for the game Project Armata are as follows:

  • OS: Windows Vista, Windows 7 (SP1), Windows 8.x64 (64 bit)
  • Processor: 3.1 GHz Intel (R) Core (TM) i5-4440 CPU @ 3.10 GHz (4 cores), ~ 3.1 GHz or better
  • RAM: 4 GB
  • Video card: GeForce GTX 275 896 Mb
  • DirectX version: DirectX10 or higher
  • Hard disk space: 44 GB
  • Optional: Internet connection 128Kb / s or faster

As for the sensations that the player experiences while playing Armored Warfare, they are rather similar not to those in World ofTanks, but much more dynamic - like an online action movie: it is necessary to make tactical decisions almost on the move, and stay alive to the end the games are very difficult.

The number of all kinds of equipment, variations and body kits installed on the tank cannot but please. The design in which the interface is made becomes an excellent helper in order to understand the existing variety and make the right choice. But all the same, windows that pop up continuously with prompts (which are typed in small print) greatly strain the eyes. For a comfortable game, of course, you need a personal encyclopedia.

One of the most serious revisions since the CBT is the changed branch for pumping. There are two types of tanks in Armored Warfare: light and combat. As for the combat ones, everything is obvious here - they still remain the main weapon of the tank rush. But with the light type, which differs from those encountered in WoT, you need to figure it out. They are no longer well-known firefly scouts, but have become high-speed and maneuverable hunters who perform various useful purposes on the battlefield. Thus, the functional purpose of reconnaissance activities was transferred to armored combat vehicles, which are not really tanks. However, the speed that they are capable of developing cannot fail to impress.

Review of the game Project Armata, for those who want to watch the game

In addition, branches of tanks with national status remained in the past. You will play as a mercenary, whose equipment does not come from a government warehouse, but from a kind of "black" suppliers who do not care which state owns this or that type of equipment. The main point on which attention is focused is her behavior during the battle.

For example, you can get equipment from heavy equipment like tank fighters from Sophie Wölfli, and reconnaissance equipment from Marat Shishkin. During the battles, there is no division of players into camps, and both of them can fight for one team, otherwise there would be a significant imbalance.

For fans of tank simulators, the technology development branches will also be a good nuance. The reviewed game presents them as voluminous, with a wide range to choose from. However, sometimes the improvements bring confusion to the game. For example, to install some new gizmo on a certain technique, you first need to purchase an "upgrade" in accordance with other vehicles that represent this family.

Armata project has earned very positive reviews

In Armored Warfare, applied and modern technologies... First of all, you should pay attention to dynamic protection: the first projectile destroys the armored block, while leaving a gap in the protection. In the event that a shot hits this particular gap, a blow is also applied to the armor itself. In order not to come under fire from vulnerable places, it is necessary to "roll" the body, that is, to spin in place like a top.

There are two modes: PvP battle mode and PvE mode. As for the second, unfortunately, separate cards have not been developed for it, for this reason, the actions are carried out all on the same number of cards inherent in the first mode. A full-fledged rival is also not thought out, and the players will be forced to beat the bots in the process of conducting separate operations around the world. Each mission has a specific task: in one place - to carry out the destruction of the object, in the other - to capture the point. No more than six tanks can take part in one battle of the PvE mode at a time, while they have much more rivals. This is where all the lessons learned from PvP battles come in handy. As for tasks with a low level of difficulty, then you can afford to relax, there is no punishment for a bad position or simply spent ammunition.

AND short description of this game will be given below. This is an online action game created by Obsidian Entertainment. The user will have to participate in battles while driving a tank. The project is dedicated to modern military equipment. Here you can control tanks, artillery and other types of armored vehicles. In the project, you can find many combat vehicles that are in service with different countries.

Maximum productivity

So let's start with the bare minimum required for Armored Warfare. The system requirements in this case can be called modest. First of all, we need RAM, at least 2 gigabytes. As a video adapter, GeForce and more powerful models are suitable. Intel Core The 2 Duo is a processor that is quite capable of handling the load of a game. Windows 7 is suitable as an operating system. Moreover, its bit depth is not important, both x86 and x64 will do.

Perfect quality

You can get the most out of the Armored Warfare graphics. At the same time, the system requirements increase significantly. RAM already needs 4 gigabytes. The perfect graphics card for the job - GeForce Also required intel processor i5 with a frequency of at least 3.0 GHz. As for the operating system, it can be any current version Windows.

Golden mean

We have examined two extremes that apply to Armored Warfare equipment. The system requirements are higher than those of some competitors, so here are a few more tips to optimize the game as much as possible. According to the recommendations of the developers, it is better to use 64-bit operating system... Sometimes in 32s there are problems when working with a client. At the same time, the creators of the game claim that this difficulty will soon be eliminated. In addition, Armored Warfare is compatible with Windows 10. However, the game runs as fast on this system as on the others. Now let's discuss the question random access memory... The game client itself needs about 1.5 gigabytes to work. This allows it to run on systems that have less than 4GB of RAM, as indicated in the section c minimum requirements... At this stage of development, the game takes up over 41 gigabytes of hard drive space. Of these, 14 are required by the distribution kit, and another 26 are reserved for the client. Every day, updates are released that increase the stability of the project along with its performance. Now you know how to launch Armored Warfare. The system requirements on the PC are very sparing with minimal settings.

Tank MMOs are extremely popular with domestic players. Among the well-known representatives of this trend is the game "Armored Warfare: Project Armata". This is the Mail.Ru Group project, which was developed and until 2017 was supported by the Obsidian Entertainment studio. The game offers to take part in military conflicts in the near future on armored vehicles of different classes - from models of the 50s of the last century to the most modern combat vehicles. Among the advanced weapons, the T-14 Armata tank is also available, the name of which is in the title of the game. There are obligatory PvP encounters, as well as a variety of team missions in PvE mode. Armored Warfare uses the CryEngine engine and pushes serious system requirements... In this review, we will find out which video cards will provide a comfortable gaming experience with maximum graphics quality in different resolutions.

CryEngine provides detailed, vivid images on a wide variety of maps.

The game offers large areas with difficult terrain. In combination with abundant vegetation, the local landscapes look very pretty. Bump mapping is used extensively.

The picture rich in details with pleasant light effects pleases the eye. There are also well-developed industrial maps with factories and oil complexes. But individual maps lack detail, they look more faded against the background of the main locations. So the final impressions are mixed.

Armored Warfare works under DirectX 11. The game has several graphics quality profiles and a set manual settings... The maximum visual experience will ensure the maximum quality of graphics, and it is in this mode that we will compare nVIDIA graphics cards and AMD. By default, anti-aliasing is FXAA, but SMAA and MSAA algorithms are still supported, the GeForce GTX has an exclusive TXAA mode. Additional testing will be carried out with quality MSAA 4x mode. Elder graphic cards will be tested in high resolutions up to 4K (3840x2160).

The characteristics of the test takers are shown in two tables.

  • motherboard: MSI X99S MPOWER
  • memory: DDR4 Kingston HyperX HX430C15SB2K4 / 16, 3000 MHz, 4x4 GB
  • hard drive: Hitachi HDS721010CLA332, 1 TB
  • power supply: Seasonic SS-750KM
  • operating system: Windows 10 Ultimate x64
  • geForce driver: NVIDIA GeForce 381.65
  • radeon driver: Crimson Edition 17.4.1

Testing was carried out in game version 0.19 when choosing a profile of the highest quality.

A recording of the battle was played in the mission "Operation Cobra", which takes place in a location with abundant vegetation in heavy rain. All this creates maximum stress on video cards, especially when combined with explosions and smoke. The same one-minute episode was repeated six times.

The game has SD and HD versions of the client with different textures. First, let's compare the performance in the two client versions with the same Ultra quality.

The difference between the two options is minimal. Therefore, feel free to turn on HD in the settings, the SD mode will be relevant only for very weak video cards with a memory capacity of about 1 GB. In HD mode, the video memory load is 500 MB higher, but still below the 2 GB bar.

Let's compare NVIDIA and AMD video cards in 1920x1080 resolution at Ultra quality.

GeForce GTX 1050 Ti and GeForce GTX 960 demonstrate 37-47 fps, which can suit the undemanding user. Since these are metrics in a tough test scene, the frame rate will be higher on many gaming cards. But the minimum option for a comfortable gaming experience is the GeForce GTX 780, and better with higher frequencies. In the lower segment, the GeForce GTX 950 is noticeably faster than the Radeon R9 270X. Senior representatives of AMD lose to the GeForce GTX 780 Ti, and the GeForce GTX 1060 by an even greater margin.

The standard Ultra settings include FXAA. From the experience of our other reviews, we can safely say that this is an economical method that has minimal impact on performance, but not the best. SMAA can perform slightly better, the maximum picture quality is provided by MSAA. This anti-aliasing seriously affects performance. Let's see if the older video cards can handle MSAA in 4x mode.

This anti-aliasing seriously degrades the performance of all video cards. Only the GeForce GTX 1060 and GeForce GTX 780 Ti can play in this mode. The Radeon RX 480 has an unacceptably low frame rate, and the video card itself is at the level of older models - the Radeon R9 290X and GeForce GTX 780.

On NVIDIA video cards, you can also use special TXAA anti-aliasing. It affects performance on a par with the MSAA level, but provides perfect line smoothness without ladders. Minus TXAA in blurring the picture, the image clarity in this mode is slightly reduced.

Let's look at the performance at 2560x1440. From this comparison, the younger models are discarded, but the Radeon RX 480 overclocked and the GeForce GTX 1080 in the nominal are added.

The senior representative of NVIDIA handles the WQHD format with ease, overtaking the GeForce GTX 1060 by 61-65%. The latter also provides high performance, allowing you to play normally in this mode. Please note that the Radeon RX 480 is maximum frequencies still weaker than the GeForce GTX 1060 in nominal value, and at the initial frequencies, the older Radeon loses to the GeForce GTX 780 Ti. You will only be able to play on the GeForce GTX 780 when overclocked.

Will video cards overcome a high resolution with MSAA 4x?

Non-lifting load for GeForce GTX 1060 and Radeon RX 480, although the usual ratio with a serious lead from the NVIDIA video card remains. Only GeForce GTX 1080 can play at 2560x1440 with MSAA 4x.

The last test will be a comparison of older video cards in 4K mode. Due to the low frame rate in Ultra mode, I had to lower the settings to the Very High level. Here GeForce GTX 1060 and Radeon RX 480 are tested in nominal and overclocked.

GeForce GTX 1060 breaks 30 fps after overclocking, Radeon RX 480 is traditionally in the tail. In any case, the performance of both is low, only the GeForce GTX 1080 allows you to play in this mode.

conclusions

Armored Warfare: Project Armata has nice graphics thanks to the CryEngine engine. But the system requirements are higher in comparison with other tank MMOs. The minimum option for Ultra-quality Full HD is a GeForce GTX 1050 Ti or GeForce GTX 960. GeForce graphics GTX 1060 allows you to play comfortably not only in the standard Ultra mode, but also with the additional activation of high-quality MSAA. The GeForce GTX 1080 handles 2560x1440 with ease and even lets you play in 4K, but with a slight drop in graphics settings. AMD Graphics in this game weaker than similar solutions from NVIDIA. In particular, the Radeon RX 480 is not only inferior to the GeForce GTX 1060, in heavy modes with MSAA the video card even loses to the GeForce GTX 780 Ti. In the budget segment, NVIDIA solutions also look preferable. 2 GB of video memory is fully sufficient for 1920x1080 and 2560x1440 resolutions. Higher volume is demanded for heavy duty MSAA or 4K.
