Mtn cyprus recharge account. You can buy a tourist SIM card for Cyprus in advance. This action not only saves time, but also money, as you will understand below. Tariffs of MTS, Megafon, Tele2 and Beeline in roaming in Cyprus

Developed mobile communications in Cyprus allows for low cost calls to both local subscribers and abroad to Russia. Excellent coverage guarantees the availability of communication in the resorts and cities of the island. Buy a SIM-card of any Cypriot operator and deposit money into the account will be obtained at almost all retail outlets.

Mobile operators

The three largest Cyprus cellular companies are CYTA, MTN and PrimeTel.

The first is most popular because it has a wide coverage area, including in mountainous areas. CYTA is owned by Vodafone, a large British company that has representatives in the cellular markets of almost all European countries. Vodafone and its subsidiaries are known for their high level of service and the variety of rates offered.

MTN is the second largest mobile operator. Like CYTA, it collaborates with customers based on several tariff plans. However, in comparison with the market leader, the company has less coverage, and sometimes the connection may disappear - for example, in remote hills.

PrimeTel is a virtual operator, the first telecommunications company in Cyprus, which entered the market without its own infrastructure for making calls. Since PrimeTel does not have communication towers, the company uses the network of a small operator CytaVoda. International roaming is provided by Telefonica, a professional customer service system provided by Amdocs.

Where can I buy SIM-cards and replenish my account

Roaming here is expensive, so you need to get a SIM card of a local provider. Buy it will turn out at the airport immediately after arrival on the island. You can also purchase a card at retail outlets, there will come out to replenish the account.

Activation of the SIM card must be done by sending a secret code located under the protective layer on the card packaging. Sometimes a secret code is printed on a check, which is issued at points of sale along with the card when it is purchased. After sending the code, you need to wait a few minutes - activation does not occur immediately. 5 minutes after sending the code, check the status of the card by making a test call to any number. If activation has not yet occurred, wait a little longer and call again.

An MTN SIM card at the airport costs 12.5 €, CYTA - 15 €. Perhaps at other points of sale, these cards are offered at a lower price. After buying a SIM card, any of the two largest mobile companies will have 5 euros in your account. To replenish the account, cards of different denominations sold in stores are used.

Tariff comparison

Calls and SMS

The cost of the CYTA, MTN and PrimeTel tariffs is approximately the same, so you need to focus on the quality of services and the coverage area. In these respects, VTAFone owns CYTA's unconditional leadership. However, if you are not going far out of town, other operators will do.

For tourists, CYTA has developed a special Soeasy Classic tariff plan. After connecting, the user receives 5 euros into the account, and the first 100 SMS messages sent by the subscriber are free. The price of the following text messages is less than 2 eurocents. The cost of calls within Cyprus is 7.8 ct. per minute, abroad - 12.6 ct. If you wish, the cost of sending SMS can be reduced to 1 cent. To do this, go to the Soeasy TXTers tariff plan.

MTN offers subscribers to use the MTN PayAsYouGo tariff. As in the case of CYTA, after buying a SIM card, the client receives 5 euros in the account, but the number of free SMS is less than only 20. The cost of sending other messages reaches 2 cents, the price of calls to subscribers is 10.6 cents, outside the country 4.8 cts for half a minute of conversation.

The PrimeTel operator, despite being virtual, offers the same rates as other companies. For example, the cost of calls within the island is 7.2 cents, sending SMS - from 1 to 2 cents. The price of a conversation with a subscriber from Russia is 12 cents, a text message for a foreign recipient will cost 6 cents.

Mobile Internet

MTN offers acceptable conditions for connecting to the global network on the island - for 2 Kb of traffic you need to pay 0.005 euro cent on general terms. You can also buy traffic packages. To connect the desired package, send its name in quotation marks in SMS to 6040. The following options are available:

  • Data on day. The daily limit is 20 MB for 2 €;
  • Data on week. Weekly limit - 80 MB for 5 €;
  • Data on month. The monthly limit is 200 MB for 1 €.

CYTA Mobile Internet is provided under the same conditions. There are three tariff plans - per day, per week and per month. The traffic limits are about the same: 20 MB per day for 1.51 €, 60 MB per week for 3.03 € and 200 MB per month for 10.0 €. To activate the desired tariff, send an SMS to number 7000 with the text MI day, MI Week or MI Month, respectively. The standard cost of 1 MB of traffic at the Soeasy tariff is a little more than 1 euro cent.

In the case of connecting to the PrimeTel Internet, the settings are entered into the phone manually. The ip.primetel value is entered in the APN line, and the "password" and "username" lines are left blank. There are four main packages - 2.5 € for 20 MB, 6 € for 100 MB, 12 € for 250 MB and 20 € for 500 MB.

Roaming

Using Russian mobile operators for calls from Cyprus to Russia or vice versa is not recommended - the cost of the call is very high. Rostelecom offers much lower prices - 13 rubles per minute on a landline telephone. As an alternative to mobile communications, if a Cyprus operator’s card is not purchased, VoIP-telephony services, for example, Skype, are used.

ATTENTION! Due to the cancellation of roaming within the EU, all current tariff information can be found here

Hi, to all lovers of passive spa holidays, as well as those who like to get acquainted with the sights of other countries and states. This article is intended for you, as Cyprus is an island, like many other similar territories, suitable for both leisure and tourism.

In order to make the trip even more comfortable, it is worth remembering that you need to take care of the optimal conditions for using the services of local companies, in terms of using mobile communications and the Internet in another country. This, as already mentioned, will be about Cyprus. To solve this important issue, you need to get acquainted with mobile operators who work in Cyprus.

But first you need to find out all the subtleties and nuances. So, to begin with, the island of Cyprus is politically divided into two parts: the European Republic of Cyprus (in the south), where residents speak Greek, and the KCTS (in the north) - the Turkish-affiliated part, where residents primarily speak Turkish.

This division is reflected in the island’s mobile communications. On each part of the island there are a sufficient number of companies offering mobile services, however, a phone call from north to south or vice versa is considered international roaming and rates are set as for an international call.

Of course, it will not be difficult for a tourist to leave the southern part of the island to visit the northern one, however, communication services will be lost at low prices. In addition, it should be noted that since the northern part of the island is not part of the European Union, then roaming prices will go off the scale, which means that it will be necessary to think about purchasing two SIM cards.

In the southern part of the island, the following companies provide mobile communications and data exchange services:

  • Cytamobile (Vodafone);
  • PrimeTel.

In the northern part:

  • KKTC Turkcell;
  • KKTC Telsim (Vodafone).

Across the island, Internet speeds operate at the following frequencies:

  • 2G at 900 and 1800 MHz;
  • 3G at 2100 MHz;
  • 4G / LTE has just started its operation at a frequency of 1800 MHz.

  Mobile operatorCytamobile (Vodafone)

Greece's largest European operator Cytamobile is partly owned by the Greek Government and partly by the well-known European company Vodafone. Cytamobile, by the way, offers the best coverage in the country.

The Cytamobile starter pack is called Soeasy and is sold on a pre-paid basis for 7.50 euros. This tariff is provided for making phone calls, exchanging text messages and data. The cost for 1 MB by default is 1.015 euros.

Tariff packages Soeasy

After one of the selected packages is connected, the subscriber can use the data exchange service for 0.25 € per 1 Mb. The subscriber will be informed about the inclusion of this service by SMS. Also, using a text message, information about the expiration of the connected tariff package will be received.

For those subscribers who do not use mobile communications abroad and for whom only the Internet is important, you can purchase a separate Vodafone SIM card for 14.95 euros.

Tariff packages for using the Internet:

The validity period of the tariff package is extended every time a Vodafone SIM card is replenished. After 180 days from the last recharge, the SIM card will be blocked.

In addition, the Vodafone operator also offers holiday SIM cards with various amounts of data:

Validity Data volume Cost (in Euros)
2 days250 Mb5
5 days500 Mb10

The cost of a MTN SIM card is 7.50 euros. This SIM card is designed for making calls, exchanging text messages and data. The cost of 1 Mb of data is 1.02 euros by default, therefore MTN provides the following tariff packages for its subscribers:

The MTN Mobile-only SIM card (using the Internet) is called Broadband Pay as you go and is sold for 10 euros with a default data volume of 100 MB. Tariff plans offered by the telecom operator only for using the Internet:

After the tariff package expires, the SIM card becomes inactive, but the rest of the data will not be lost. After the extension of the tariff plan, the subscriber will have access to the remainder of using the previous tariff plan and the additional paid amount of data.

If within 180 days after the SIM card is no longer active, it will not be activated, then the SIM card will be blocked and the subscriber will no longer be able to use the existing number.

The Broadband Pay as you go SIM card is active only for data exchange, it is impossible to make calls and send text messages using this SIM card.

The best conditions in any part of Cyprus

When deciding to visit the legendary island of Cyprus, do not forget to decide which part of it you will go to - to the southern or northern one, so that you can get to know the communication operators operating in a certain territory as accurately as possible.

By the way, it should be noted that in Russia today there are companies (such as Euro-Roaming, etc.) that offer not only detailed information about all operators operating in the European Union and not only telecom operators, but can also offer to purchase a SIM-card with a connected tariff package.

If you need to always be in touch and you cannot change your cell phone number, then you can always choose the most convenient and inexpensive tariff plan with international roaming turned on, thanks to which you will be in touch anywhere in the world.

The best roaming offers from global operators for:

Orange  (Spain)  rate Mundo

  • Mundo 1 Gb - 7 euros
  • Mundo 2 Gb - 10 Euro
  • Mundo 3 Gb - 15 euros
  • Internet packages are designed for a month, but they can be extended as necessary. And the operator does not limit the distribution.

The Estonian operator on GlobalSim maps has appeared .   For only $ 19 you can
connect 1 GB or for 2 GB for only $ 35. The package can be reconnected as needed. You can also configure distribution to third-party devices if you are a company.

Operator Three offers 12 GB  monthly traffic.

For just 48 euros you get 12 GB of internet in 43 countries. Fast and high-quality internet connection. The card is only compatible with 3G and 4G smartphones or tablets.

One of the priority questions that people who come to the island are asked is communication, its quality, affordability and cost.

Of course, in our century, when everyone strives to stay in touch at any time of the day or night, they constantly use the Internet, a possible communication problem becomes very important: someone needs constant contact with loved ones and relatives, someone needs information and the ability to remotely business.

Mobile Communications in Cyprus

It's no secret that the services of Russian roaming, subject to the active daily use of mobile communications, can cost as much as he himself. Therefore, if you want to stay in touch and at the same time not spend extra money, it is better to purchase a card of a local telephone operator (MTN or SoEasy from Cyta).

The cost of a telephone card in Cyprus is 7.5-12 euros, while most of this money is credited to your account as an advance payment for calls and the Internet.

The cost of 1 minute of conversation with Russia from a Cypriot mobile phone will cost you 0.12-0.14 euro cents (6-7 rubles), depending on the operator. Naturally, such a communication option is more profitable than the services of domestic cellular companies.

Another fast-growing Internet services company in Limassol is DragonNet. In this case, you pay a monthly fee only when you use the selected services, unlike Cyta and PrimeTel, where the cost is charged even during your absence on the island.

One of the main advantages   Companies - prompt Internet connection within 2-3 business days. A monthly package will cost 15-175 euros, if necessary, you can install several access points. When connecting, you will need to pay a deposit, installation and the first month of Internet payment.

The signal provided by DragonNet is sufficient to watch television (for example, Kartina.TV) without interruption, and also use the Internet services. More information about DragonNet can be found on the website:

The issue of mobile Internet in Cyprus remains rather complicated. The cost of accessing a network with a 3G modem is very high. The modem itself costs about 50 euros, and the cost of 2GB of information downloaded from the network is 12 euros, even with the best tariffication.

Categorically it is not worth using mobile Internet, using roaming, because in this case you will pay not only for the services of Russian mobile operators, but also for downloaded megabytes at the rates of local Cypriot companies, which, as you already understood, is very expensive.

Brief summary

So, if you are planning a short-term vacation in Cyprus, then the most reasonable option would be to buy a local telephone operator card (it will cost much less than tourist phone cards or the services of domestic operators in roaming). And you can use the Internet for free in any hotel or cafe.

Before going to Cyprus, the question arose of what to do with the Internet, because they wrote on the forums that the Internet in Cypriot hotels is very specific, since Wi-Fi can be on the beach or by the pool, but in order to work with human conditions, you have to go down rooms in the lobby.

So I went google, what’s generally with the 3G mobile Internet in the Republic of Cyprus. It turned out that not really: Cytamobile-Vodafone and MTN offer some kind of horse tariffs for tourists, like 9-10 euros for 200-300 mega traffic. That is, for a gig, I would have to fork out 50 euros, which I didn’t really want.

They are supposed to have more human tariffs only for residents or when concluding a contract for a month or more, and a lot of all kinds of papers would have to be provided.

So I began to search further and found information about the local PrimeTel operator offering a refill card with prices from 10 to 50 euros, but having a promotional tariff of 15 euros for 2Gb per month. In this case, the sim card itself would cost 2.5 euros.

It goes under the label with the same order of prices.

They also have a separate one for 20 days - 20 euros for 2Gb of mobile 4G Internet. A single card that you can buy directly at Larnaca Airport: the store is located in the baggage claim area, to the left of the exit, with customs inscriptions about the green and red stripes, to the terminal.

Moreover, the same card can be bought from Moscow or throughout Russia with delivery, which is quite convenient, because the card is valid for 20 days from the moment of activation. But it will cost 1800 rubles, that is, about 30 euros. At first I wanted to buy right away so as not to fool myself with the search, because people wrote that it is difficult to find PrimeTel in the city and the tourist zone; but he stumbled almost before the departure, when there was no time.

As it turned out, I was intuitive with the pre-purchase, because the store for some reason did not work. Probably due to the fact that we arrived at the beginning of the seventh morning. So at the exit to the terminal I actively drove a sting to see some other store, but there was nothing but taxi services. But by a lucky coincidence, at the fence before leaving the white zone, in the direction of the buses, there was some kind of a mustachioed uncle who was banging with mobile communication cards. I don’t know if he hangs out there all the time, or just took advantage of the morning hour, but I got a tourist card from him exactly for 20 euros. He also set it up for me, although there is nothing to configure there - it inserts, the PIN code for the SIM card is 1234, then in Android: Settings -\u003e MORE -\u003e Mobile network -\u003e access points (APN) -\u003e select a new SIM card and enter the APN ip. primetel

On dual-SIM, you still need to switch 3G to a new SIM card. And all - no additional activation is required. After some time, a welcome SMS comes with info about 2 gigs for 20 days.

The Internet is good and pretty stable. On the road from Larnaca to Protaras, I could just ride on EDGE several times. In Protaras itself it also works normally outside, in some buildings it jumps between 3G and EDGE, but everything flew in the room.

The picture with speeds is from a computer in Wi-Fi: local and to Moscow practically does not differ. The download speed is stable at 7-8 megabits, but the applause is an order of magnitude worse - 0.3Mb / s, including enough for browsing and posting for the eyes, but for example TeamViwer slows down quite noticeably. It’s also worth calling on Skype without a video, because everything costs a stake.

Arriving at the hotel, I was delighted with prudence, because of course there was wi-fi in the hotel, but its cost was 10 euros for 2 hours and then 5 per hour. Moreover, as the girl from the reception said, due to the abundance of the people, the speed greatly left much to be desired. After this information I began to look with great respect at the millionaires around me.

Mobile 3G Internet in Cyprus, 5.9 out of 10 based on 18 ratings

Mobile communication in Cyprus is a terrible dream of the Russian PPSOs (Cellular Communications Operators). The cost of mobile communications in Cyprus is so small that it can be compared with US rates. But the Russian opsos, I don’t even want to call them differently - Beeline, Megafon MTS, Skylink with their crazy domestic Russian tariffs, not to mention roaming, have no right to exist in Europe and should be anathematized in the world of mobile operators. So, you can go to Cyprus with your mobile operator, with all kinds of travel SIM cards or save money and nerves. Roaming from Russian mobile operators and the rates for communicating in it are for those who have a good life and are not interested in this article. Do not buy all kinds of so-called “tourist” SIM cards - their rates for cellular communication in Cyprus and for calls to Russia also do not withstand any criticism. The best solution for the family budget and nerve cells would be - right after arriving in Cyprus, buying a SIM card from one of the local mobile operators. To purchase a card you only need to go to the nearest periptero (kiosk) or store and 5-20 Euros, depending on how much you plan to say. You do not need any passports, filling in a bunch of pieces of paper, signing all kinds of contracts, agreements - all this savagery of Russian opsos. The sellers in the store will help you immediately activate the card and get some nice bonus from the Cypriot mobile operator for loyalty to the company (usually it’s a bonus of 2-5 Euros per account, a T-shirt with the logo of the mobile operator or some nice little thing). Believe me, 20 Euros in the account will be enough for you not for one HOUR, but to be more precise for almost 3 hours, conversations with Russia. For the most talkative in all stores, recharge cards are sold, the activation of which will take you no more than 1 minute.

The tariffs for conversations of Cypriot mobile operators are POSECOND and none of them, unlike Russian opsos, shout to the whole country that this is a huge investment in technology, hardware and software, and even more so does not raise such issues at the level of federal services and government. Now about the mobile operators in Cyprus. Mobile communications in Cyprus are represented by two mobile companies CYTA  and MTN.

CYTA

Cyprus Telecommunications Auth (Cytamobile-Vodafone).

In ordinary life, the most common names are: CYTA, CYTAmobile, Vodafone.

Internet representation: www.cytamobile-vodafone.com

Cellular Standard:  GSM 900/1800

CYTA is the largest mobile operator in Cyprus. Coverage - almost the entire island, with the exception of the so-called TRNC (Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus). Coverage area  Cyprus island looks like this:

The contract from CYTA, which you can purchase at kiosks or stores, looks like this:

Tariffs:I will give the average rates of tariff plans, as they have a difference of thousandths of a euro per minute of conversation and of fundamental importance these 0.001 euros do not carry.

Local talk 0,07663 Euro / minute

Calls to Russia  to mobile, landline numbers, to Moscow, St. Petersburg or Krzypol are: 0,1260 Euro / minute

Top-up cards:the following prices are € 5, € 10, € 20, € 35

Cons of the operator:After 90 days of the absence of signs of life of your SIM card (turned off and not used), it is blocked, even if there is money left in the account. You can unlock it, but having appeared in the office of the company of the cellular operator CYTA. Therefore, try to completely reprimand the entire amount on the account until the end of the vacation and throw out the SIM card.

MTN

International company name of the mobile operator:  MTN Cyprus Limited

In ordinary life, the most common names are: MTN.

Internet representation:  www.mtn.com.cy

Cellular Standard:  GSM 900/1800 and 3G WCDMA 2100

MTN is the second largest cellular operator in Cyprus and the only one operating in the 3G standard. The coverage area is almost the entire island, and partially the so-called TRNC (Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus). Coverage area  Islands looks like this:

The coverage area in the 3G standard is extremely small and only works stably in large cities:

The contract from the Cyprus mobile operator MTN is as follows:

Tariffs:Similar to the rates of the CYTA mobile operator in Cyprus, I will give the average prices of tariff plans, as they have a difference of thousandths of a euro per minute of conversation and of fundamental importance these 0.001 Euros do not carry.

Local talk  to mobile, from mobile, to city numbers, the price includes all taxes and fees (VAT): 0,0700 Euro / minute

Calls to Russia  to landline numbers, to Moscow, Peter or Krzypol make up: 0.1185 Euro / minute, and on mobile phones even less:   0,0886 Euro / minute

Top-up cards:the following prices are € 5, € 10, € 20

Cons of the operator:After 90 days of the absence of signs of life of your SIM card (turned off and not used), it is blocked, even if there is money left in the account. You can unlock it, but having appeared in the office of the company of the mobile operator MTN. Therefore, try to completely reprimand the entire amount on the account until the end of the vacation and throw out the SIM card. If you plan excursions to the mountains and mountainous areas, do not buy SIM cards of this operator - very poor quality of communication and the regular lack of coverage, use the services of CYTA.

Useful and necessary numbersCYTAandMTN:

112   emergency rescue services

1400   hospital information

1442 ambulance

1460   police

1407   Forest fires

In conclusion, I want to ask you to arm yourself with calculators and calculate how many Russian opsos you rip off in roaming in Cyprus. On average, the prices for calls in roaming at MTS, Beeline, Megafon are approximately the same - 1 minute of conversation costs 100 rubles, which is about 2.35 Euro / minute with per-minute billing, i.e. if you talk for 1 minute and 2 seconds, the cost of two minutes of communication will be taken from you. And it turns out that 1 minute of communication in roaming with Russia from the “beloved” Russian mobile operator costs as much as 19 minutes !!! communication from any Cypriot mobile operator. And I will give a very interesting fact, which in the future will require a thorough investigation. I have 3 phones of Russian mobile operators, all different MTS, Beeline and Skylink. Skylink - does not work in Cyprus at all, we won’t touch it, it has a 100% alibi. But as for MTS and Beeline, there are questions. I quite often fly and ALWAYS after arriving in Cyprus, on the second and third day, empty calls with the sound of a working modem occur to my phone numbers of these mobile operators, or some next half-deaf grandmother "hangs up" into the phone, which is in the usual "non-roaming "life never happens. It got ridiculous that my wife and I bet on the number of such calls. At the same time, after 5 seconds of such a connection, the amount for 1 minute of a conversation in roaming is debited from my account. I wonder how the Russian opsos explain this fact? Be attentive to unfamiliar calls, do not answer them or at the first described signs of a trick - immediately disconnect.

Analyzing all this, one involuntarily thinks - it’s probably not for nothing that Cypriot mobile operators put Russian opsos on a par with Russian business colleagues from Papua New Guinea, Combodia, Tonga, Vanatu and Nepal.
