Export and import of files for most standard formats is supported - including loading and editing MS Office documents in DOC, DOCX, XLS, XLSX, PPT and PPTX formats. The interface of Zoho Docs office applications is made in the style of MS Office 2007. The range of supported file formats is very wide: you can even download ZIP archives with their subsequent unpacking using Zoho Docs tools and import documents stored on the Google Docs service (however, sometimes it can be distorted in import progress). Reasons for choosing 64-bit

Computers running 64-bit versions of Windows tend to have more resources, such as processing power and memory, than their 32-bit predecessors. In addition, 64-bit applications have more memory available than 32-bit applications (up to 18.4 million petabytes). Therefore, if you work with large files or datasets and you have 64-bit Windows installed on your computer, the 64-bit version of Office is the best choice. Below are some of these scenarios.

    You work with large datasets for example, with enterprise-grade Excel workbooks that use complex calculations, large numbers of PivotTables, external database connections, PowerPivot, 3D Map, PowerView, or Download and Transform queries. In such cases, the performance of the 64-bit version of Office may be better.     You are working in PowerPoint with very large images, videos, and animations... 64-bit Office is better suited to handle these complex slide sets.

    You are working in Project with files larger than 2 GB especially if the project contains many subprojects.

    You develop your own Office solutions such as add-ins or document-level customizations. Using 64-bit Office, you will be able to create both 64-bit and 32-bit versions of these solutions. Developers of native Office solutions must have access to the 64-bit version of Office 2016 to test and update these solutions.

    You are working as a bigint data type in Access and although this data type is supported by the 32-bit version of Access, you can get unexpected results when you execute code or expressions that use 32-bit VBA libraries. 64-bit VBA allows data type LongLong which fully supports large numbers. Advice: If you have a 64-bit operating system with an x64 processor, you can install a 32-bit or 64-bit version of Office.

IT pros, especially developers, should be aware of the situations in which they prefer to use the 32-bit version of Office.

    You have 32-bit COM add-ins with no 64-bit counterparts... You can continue to use 32-bit COM add-ins in 32-bit Office on 64-bit Windows computers. You can also try contacting your COM add-in vendor and request the 64-bit version.

    You are using 32-bit controls that have no 64-bit counterparts... You can continue to use 32-bit controls, such as generic Microsoft Windows controls (Mscomctl.ocx, comctl.ocx) or third-party controls, in 32-bit Office.

    VBA code uses Declare statements Basically, VBA code does not need to be adapted for use in 64-bit or 32-bit. An exception is when Declare statements are used to call Windows APIs using pointers and handles that have 32-bit data types, such as long. In most cases, adding PtrSafe to the Declare and replacing the long data type with LongPtr will make the Declare statement compatible with 32- and 64-bit versions. However, this may not be possible on the rare occasion that there is no 64-bit API to advertise.     You have 32-bit MAPI applications for Outlook... As the number of 64-bit Outlook users grows, we recommend that you rebuild 32-bit MAPI applications, add-ins, and macros to adapt them to 64-bit Outlook. However, you can continue to use them with the 32-bit version of Outlook if needed.     Are you activating a 32-bit OLE server or object... You can continue to use the 32-bit OLE Server application with the 32-bit version of Office installed.

    You are using SharePoint Server 2010 and you need the Edit in Data Table view... You can keep using the view Change in data table in SharePoint Server 2010 with 32-bit Office.

    You need 32-bit Microsoft Access database files: MDE, ADE and ACCDE... You can recompile the 32-bit MDE, ADE, and ACCDE files to make them compatible with the 64-bit version of Access, or continue using them in the 32-bit version.

    You need a legacy formula editor or WLL files (Microsoft Word add-in library files) in Word. You can continue to use the legacy Word Formula Editor and run WLL files in 32-bit Word.

    The PowerPoint presentation has an old embedded media file for which there is no 64-bit codec.

To install a 32-bit or 64-bit version of Office 2016, follow the steps in Download, install, and reinstall Office.

You can choose 32-bit or 64-bit when installing Office 2013. In general, we recommend installing the 32-bit version of Office as it works better with most other applications, especially third-party add-ins. But if you work with large blocks of information or graphics, it is wise to choose the 64-bit version.

Reasons for choosing 64-bit

The 64-bit version of Office has some limitations, but should still be selected in the following cases.

    You work with very large datasets, such as enterprise-grade Excel workbooks that use complex calculations, large numbers of pivot tables, external database connections, PowerPivot, PowerMap, or PowerView. In this case, it is better to take advantage of the better performance of the 64-bit version of Office.

    You are working in PowerPoint with very large images, videos, and animations. The 64-bit version is better suited for handling these complex slide sets.

    You are working with very large Word documents. The 64-bit version is better suited for handling large tables, pictures, and other objects in Word documents.

    You are working in Project 2013 with files larger than 2 GB, especially if the project contains multiple subprojects.

    You develop your own solutions, such as add-ins or document-level customizations.

    Your organization requires hardware-based Data Execution Prevention (DEP) enforcement for Office applications. DEP is a set of hardware and software technologies that are used by some organizations to improve security.

If none of the above scenarios apply to you, you are probably better off installing 32-bit.

Note: 32-bit Office works well for both 32-bit and 64-bit Windows. 64-bit Office can only be installed on 64-bit Windows. If you're not installing Office on Windows, you won't have to choose between 32-bit and 64-bit versions of the product. If you want to upgrade from 32-bit Office to 64-bit, you will need to uninstall the 32-bit version first and then install the 64-bit version.

64-bit Office may provide better performance in some cases, but you need to be aware of its inherent limitations.

    On a 32-bit x86 (32-bit) operating system, you can only install the 32-bit version of Office. Check your Windows version.

    If you have a 64-bit operating system with an x64 processor, you can install a 32-bit or 64-bit version of Office.

IT pros, especially developers, should review the situations described below and view the articles at the links below. If these restrictions can affect your work, it is better to choose the 32-bit version.

    Solutions that use a library of ActiveX controls. Comctrl items won't work. There are many ways that developers can work around this problem and provide you with a 64-bit solution.

    32-bit ActiveX controls and third-party add-ons will not work. The vendor will need to create 64-bit versions of these items.

    Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) Declare code works in 64-bit Office only if manually updated. For more information about what changes need to be made to the VBA code to make it work in 64-bit Office, see Visual Basic for Applications 64-bit Overview.

    Compiled Access databases, such as MDE, ADE, and ACCDE files, do not work in 64-bit Office unless they are specifically designed for it.

    You have 32-bit MAPI applications for Outlook. As the number of users of 64-bit Outlook grows, we recommend that you redesign 32-bit applications, add-ins, and MAPI macros to adapt them to 64-bit Outlook.     In SharePoint 2010 and earlier, table mode is not available because it uses an ActiveX control.

    The Microsoft Office Excel Table Viewer, Access Database Engine for Access 2013, and the 2007 Office Compatibility Pack are blocking the installation of the 64-bit version of Office 2013.

    The legacy formula editor in Word is not supported in 64-bit Office 2016, but the formula designer in Word 2013 works on all platforms. Additionally, Word Add-In Libraries (WLLs) are not supported in 64-bit Office 2013.

Some add-ins that you use in 32-bit Office may not work in 64-bit, and vice versa. If you are concerned about this issue, check your current version of Office before installing the new version. Test the add-in in 64-bit Office, or contact the developer to see if a 64-bit version of the add-in is available.

It is because of these limitations that the 32-bit version is installed by default (even on a 64-bit Windows operating system).

If you work with very large files or datasets and you have 64-bit Windows installed on your computer, the 64-bit version of Office is the best choice. Below are some of these scenarios.

    You work with very large datasets, such as enterprise-grade Excel workbooks that use complex calculations, large numbers of pivot tables, external database connections, PowerPivot, 3D Maps, PowerView, or Download and Transform queries. The 64-bit version of Office is better suited for working with large datasets because it has no file size limit, unlike the 32-bit version, where files cannot exceed 2 GB.

    You are working in PowerPoint with very large images, videos, or animations. 64-bit Office is better suited to handle these complex slide sets.

    You work in Office Project with files that are more than 2 GB on disk, especially if the project contains many subprojects.

    You develop your own Office solutions, such as add-ins or document-level customizations.

    Your organization needs Data Execution Prevention (DEP) for Office applications in hardware. DEP is a set of hardware and software technologies that are used by some organizations to improve security. In the 64-bit version, DEP is applied automatically, while in the 32-bit version it will need to be configured through Group Policy settings.

    As the number of 64-bit Outlook users is growing, it is recommended that 32-bit applications, add-ins, and MAPI macros be reworked to fit 64-bit Outlook. However, you can continue to use them with the 32-bit version of Outlook if needed.

Reasons for choosing 32-bit

On a 32-bit x86 (32-bit) operating system, you can only install the 32-bit version of Office. Check your Windows version.

If you have a 64-bit operating system with an x64 processor, you can install a 32-bit or 64-bit version of Office.

Advice: At the same time, the 32-bit version of Office can run on computers with both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows.
