The body of the device is quite thin, and the weight is also low. But the rigidity of the case is clearly not enough, therefore, when trying to twist and squeeze, it willingly succumbs, but, remarkably, it does not make a sound. Because of this, for a moment, there is a feeling that the body is rubber. With a light tap on the smartphone, the mechanical keys rattle a little. The body is completely plastic, the back cover, of course, too. The back is smooth with a matte finish, so prints are not noticeable on the blue version. Of course, the least brand is the gold version, and the black one is the most dirty. However, even in the black version, the "fingers" will not cause much trouble, because the body is easy to clean. At the ends there is plastic with a mirror surface. Here prints are more noticeable, but, oddly enough, the glossy inserts are not particularly afraid of scratches and abrasions.

In front of the display there is an earpiece, a light and proximity sensor, a front camera, and a flash, which is hidden by black tint. Looking ahead, it should be noted that this masking of the flash greatly reduces the luminous flux, which affects the quality of lighting and, as a result, the quality of pictures. Here, the designers are clearly playing, because the yellow dot of the LED would not greatly affect the overall perception of the smartphone design. From the rear, you can see the camera, flash, microphone and fingerprint sensor, which is not available.

The presence and quality of the oleophobic coating could not be verified because the smartphone was provided with a protective glass installed. Testing has shown that exactly the same matrix is \u200b\u200bused as in the slightly more accessible one. With the maximum backlight power, the brightness of the white field is 386.77 cd / m2, and the brightness of the black field is 0.383 cd / m2, which gives a static contrast ratio of 1010: 1.

With color accuracy, the situation is the same as in the case. The measured gamma value is 2.54, the color temperature is quite high. Performance

The smartphone is based on the same system-on-a-chip as in - Qualcomm Snapdragon 425. This SoC, made in 28 nm process technology, is equipped with 4 Cortex A53 cores with a frequency of up to 1.4 GHz. The video subsystem is based on Adreno 308. RAM type LPDDR3 - 3 GB, which is 1 GB more than the Y6 2018. ROM is also more - 32 GB versus 16 GB. Looking ahead, it is worth noting that in addition to the larger volume, the built-in media is also more nimble.

System performance was measured in synthetics PCMark, 3DMark, Geekbench 4, AnTuTu v7. Memory speed was evaluated using the AndroBench application. Testing was also carried out in cross-platform javascript tests (Octane, Mozilla Kraken JavaScript and SunSpider). The results of these tests significantly depend on the browser used, so Google Chrome was used as the most common one. We also conducted testing in the CPU Throttling Test application, which determines throttling (throttling) under long-term high loads. The smartphone uses exactly the same rear camera as the. It is based on a 13 megapixel sensor with 5 phase sensors. The lens aperture is f / 2.2. The front camera is 8 megapixel with an f / 2.0 lens aperture, while the regular version of the Y6 2018 is equipped with a 5 megapixel sensor. The front-facing Y6 Prime 2018 not only has a higher resolution, but also the overall quality of the images obtained, both in good lighting and in low light.

In the screen settings, as usual, you can correct the color temperature of the screen and activate the eye protection mode. There is a function to automatically reduce the screen resolution to save power consumption. But I don't see much benefit in it.

Performance

The smartphone is equipped with an old and low-performance Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor. It consists of four Cortex-A53 cores and operates at a maximum clock speed of 1.4 GHz. The graphics accelerator used is Adreno 308.

In synthetic tests, it is expected to show modest results.

In practice, the device copes well with everyday tasks. If a large number of applications are running, the animation of opening / closing applications slows down slightly. And the programs are also launched not very quickly. But if there are few applications in the background, no problem. You can't really play heavy games on a smartphone, but simple time killers go well.

In general, the speed of the smartphone can be called normal, as for this class of devices.

The amount of installed RAM is 3 GB, and the permanent memory is 32 GB. Of these 32 GB of storage, 24.79 GB is available to the user. The storage can be expanded by installing a microSD card up to 256GB without sacrificing a second SIM card.

Usually, we saw such an opportunity in smartphones with a dual main camera, and I wondered how this happens in Huawei Y6 Prime 2018, where the main camera module is one. But in practice, the focus point does not change at all. So what is the point of adding it then? Maybe something will change with the firmware update, but so far it does not work.

Huawei Y6 Prime 2018 can be unlocked by two methods - fingerprint scanner and face recognition. Just in case, let me remind you once again - there is no fingerprint scanner in the Huawei Y6 2018 smartphone (that is, without the Prime prefix).

The scanner works in the usual way for Huawei - very quickly and accurately.

As always, they can also perform various actions: control the release of the camera, answer a call, turn off the alarm, open the notification panel and flip through photos in the gallery with swipes across the scanner pad.

As for unlocking with face recognition, then it works a little ... not that worse, but slower than in the same one. But even so, it can be easily used.

The setup process is traditionally fast. Only one face is added.

There are two methods to choose from for the unlocking process: activate the screen and, after identifying the face, make a swipe across the screen, or immediately go to the desktop or to an open application. There is also the function of smart notifications, where the content of the notification on the lock screen will be hidden and will be displayed in full only if the smartphone recognizes the owner.

Autonomy

The smartphone has a 3000 mAh battery. In general, Huawei Y6 Prime 2018 lives in about the same way as the more than once mentioned brothers.

When using a predominantly 4G connection, the screen time was a little over 4.5 hours. And with a constant Wi-Fi connection, the screen was active for more than 6 hours, which is quite good for a 3000 mAh battery.

In other words, the battery will last for a day of active work, with a more gentle operating mode, you can count on a day and a half. Although it all depends, of course, on the operating scenario of a particular user.

Why is it interesting?

There is something a little more impressive here. The screen resolution, as in the younger model, is 1440x720, but the RAM is already 3 GB, and the constant is 32 GB. At the heart of the device is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 (MSM8917) platform - a quad-core processor with a frequency of up to 1.4 GHz. A 3000 mAh battery, a microUSB connector, a fingerprint scanner on the back ... Bored? Prime also has more interesting features. Front-facing flash, a full-fledged tray for 2 SIM + 1 MicroSD, face unlock function, dual ka ... Stop. It's not double. Seemed? Let's take a closer look.

What is in the box?

There is nothing extra in the box. In addition to the smartphone itself, there is a charger, cable and a paper clip. All jokes, but a paper clip is really the right thing. There is still no standard on the SIM card tray ejection holes, and the pin that can easily open the tray in the iPhone does not fit into the hole of the Huawei Y6 Prime, tested. So don't waste your paperclip. And be careful with the card tray, it's as long as a French baguette.

From the pleasant - a neat protective film is already glued to the screen for constant wear. From the unpleasant: it is more of a film than glass, and scratches quite easily. And also - no headset included (but it will be in commercial deliveries, I just had no luck with the sample).

What does it look like?

More expensive than it is. Although this is a subjective assessment. But precisely because of the peculiarities of the appearance, it may seem that the camera here is double. Its lens and flash are covered with a black elongated module, exactly the same behind which two lenses are usually installed in more expensive models (the same Y7 Prime). But here he is alone. In addition to this module, on the rear panel there is a “dot” of the second microphone and a traditional round fingerprint scanner.

The bezels around the edges of the screen are quite thin. At the top of the bezel, there is an LED indicator, a light sensor (which pretends to be a second front camera), the front camera itself, an earpiece and an invisible selfie flash. The front camera is also used to unlock the smartphone for face recognition. After pressing the power button and before the face is recognized, you can see the corresponding inscription on the screen.

Under the screen there is only a mirrored manufacturer's logo, all control buttons are drawn on the screen itself. What about performance, autonomy, sound?

The Snapdragon 425 processor is an old and proven option for budget workers. More than one generation has been built on it. Here is Xiaomi with the Redmi 4 and 5 A series, the Samsung J-series, and the E5-e Moto, and many other models. Performance is predictable. In tests, the numbers are depressingly low, but in real life there is not much to complain about. The interface works smartly, simple toys work without problems. Something a little heavier like NFS: No Limits or Minecraft (a world with many objects) is also on the way, though not as fast as demanding players would like.

Let me remind you that the Prime model has exclusively 32 GB of storage and 3 GB of RAM. Normal for a modern average person. Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz only), Bluetooth, GPS / GLONASS are standard. No frills like NFC or infrared remote control. The most attentive readers will object that there should be NFC, but in our modification with the ATU-L31 index this chip is not. And there is it only in the ATU-L11 version, I can not say anything about its deliveries to our market.
