JAF is a program for flashing NOKIA phones. The latest version at the moment, no special boxes and smart cards are required. All you need is a usb cable from your phone. Now you can easily, at home, update the firmware of your NOKIA phone, the program has access to support sites where you can download updated program files, firmware, circuits and other software related to the repair of mobile phones.

1. Run JAFSetup_1.98.62 and install (do not change the program installation path).
2. Run OGM_JAF_PKEY_Emulator_v3, select Random PKEY Rascal SN (or any other), JAF (main), press GO.

On Windows 7, OGM_JAF_PKEY_Emulator_v3 must be run in compatibility mode with Windows XP: right-click on the shortcut-> Properties-> Compatibility tab-> check the box next to "Run this program in compatibility mode with", select Windows XP (Service Pack 3) and click OK.

At startup, the error BOX DRIVER NOT INSTALLED! Nothing wrong with that.

When flashing, just in case, plug the cable into one of the ports located on the rear panel of the power supply.

Introduction
After reading the article, you can flash a phone that does not turn on Nokia through the J.A.F. in the so-called "DEAD MOD". This work is written in simple accessible language, so any owner of a Nokia phone can use it.

So let's get started.

Main part
We turn off the phone, remove the battery, put it in place. Install the driver, if, of course, it was not installed earlier. Note: we can find out about the installed drivers by looking at the installation / removal: Start -> Control Panel -> Add / Remove Programs... There should be two installed:

We insert the cable, briefly press the power button (three to four seconds) on the phone, WINDOWS will find two new devices from Nokia(they will disappear after 3 seconds). Repeat this procedure five to six times with an interval of 20 seconds.

We reboot the computer. Install previously downloaded from our site latest version on computer. Launching the program J.A.F. by clicking on the shortcut on the desktop, which has the name " Start J.A.F.". A window appears in which we are required to press the button" Start ".

Then we ignore the error message (Error: BOX DRIVER NOT INSTALLED) and click "OK". It will not affect the course of our work in any way.

In the window of the running program select the BB5 tab.

Then tick off items " Manual Flash", "Dead USB", "Factory Set", "Normal Mode", "Use INI". After that, uncheck the box CRT 308, we wait. A window appears in which you must select your (!) Phone model. I was stitching, that's why I chose the appropriate model. After selecting the phone model, click "OK".

After that, the program itself finds the files it needs (previously installed) for flashing your phone.

If you wish, you can choose another product code (if you don’t know what it is, better not touch it) by going to the product codes selection tab.

So, now let's click on the button on the right, which has the name " FLASH". A window will appear.

We press "YES". Immediately after the lines appear in LOG " Init usb communication ... PRESS POWER ON NOW! Searching for phone ... Found", press the power button on the phone until two devices appear in the device manager, and after they appear, the firmware will automatically start.

During the firmware, the computer will find new devices. It should be so. We are waiting for the program to perform all the operations it needs with the phone. And when the program completes the firmware, we will see the lines in the LOG "Setting test mode ... Setting FULL FACTORY ... Operation took 0 minutes 7 seconds ... Done! Done!" That's it, our device is stitched. After the firmware, drivers for the phone will begin to be installed, if they have not been installed before. We wait. If a window pops up, wait until all devices are installed. After completion, click " YES". Now the phone will turn itself on, and we can disconnect it from the PC.

Remark:
Usually it is not possible to flash it the first time, various errors may appear in the log. This is normal. The main thing is not to give up and repeat the above process until the firmware is successful. When the error "Error reading Phone init data" appears at the start of the firmware, just take out and insert the battery again and repeat the process, try to hold the power button longer. Attention, all actions you perform at your own peril and risk, I am not responsible for your mistakes when flashing. Detailed, step-by-step instructions are under the cut.

Well, let's start.

Step 1.

We download the firmware you like for your phone.
After downloading the firmware, put it along the path C : \ ProgramFiles \ Nokia \ Phoenix \ Products \ RM-625
If you downloaded the firmware and it comes as an installer, then check that it is installed along the above path, or set it yourself.
Since I am the owner Nokia 5228, then, accordingly, I am considering this method for this device.
Take a look 1-point, if your phone is of a different model (for example, 5800, 5230, X6) then the path will be different, only the last folder will change (for example, for the 5800 model there will be C: \ Program Files \ Nokia \ Phoenix \ Products \ RM-365

ATTENTION: I would not receive "dead body" in place of the phone do not downgrade firmware!
1) We dial in the phone: *#0000# and in the field Version, see the firmware version.
2) Then we look at the version of the firmware that you want to install (usually indicated)
3) Compare versions. If the version of the desired firmware matches the firmware of your phone or higher, then you can safely reflash. If not, then in no case should you use this firmware.

Step 2.

Install J.A.F, for this we run J.A.F Installer.exe from folder JAF Installer... Install without changing the path.
If you do not have firewood installed on the NOKIA USB connection, then follow the path: C: \ Program Files \ ODEON \ JAF and run the driver installer Nokia Flashing Cable Driver_8.6.0.2.msi(firewood is required)
Add the keys to the registry for the program to work correctly: ODEON.reg and flash.reg(by double clicking on them and agree to make changes to the registry), they are in the folder Registry keys.
File jaf_nok4models.ini copy and place it along the path: C: \ Program Files \ ODEON \ JAF(asks for a replacement, we agree), it is in the folder INI file of phone models.
Before flashing, make a hard reset (*#7370#) . The default password is 12345
It is necessary to delete all system folders from the card ( patches, installs, private, resource, sys, system) or just format it.
It is imperative to close the Nokia programs (PC Suite, Ovi Suite).
We turn off the phone and connect it via a USB cable, but don't turn it on. (USB is inserted into the motherboard, the one on the back, otherwise it will give an error)

Step 3.

The following actions are performed by owners of OS Windows Vista and Se7en:
We follow the path C: \ Program Files \ ODEON \ JAF right-click on the file JAF Emulator.exe, select the item Properties, go to the tab Compatibility and choose compatibility with Windows XP SP3
