The package includes not only the drone itself, but also spare parts for this model in the form of blades, special protection, and so on. The package is complemented by accessories, namely a USB cable, charger, documentation and a high-quality case.

Dimensions: diagonal with propellers - 350 mm, weight - 1368 g.

Technical and flight characteristics

The drone has a maximum flight speed of 72 kilometers per hour. And its maximum tilt angle is 42 degrees. The maximum take-off speed is 6 meters per second, and the descent rate is up to 4 meters per second.

As for the flight time, it reaches 30 minutes. The flight above sea level can be carried out up to 6000 meters. The device has a fairly high hovering accuracy, especially when the positioning system is on.

Software

An important role here is played by the proprietary DJI GO application, thanks to which you can easily configure cameras, as well as adjust manual parameters. Through this program, access to intelligent modes is provided. DJI GO showcases quality information related to telemetry.

Flight controller

A new generation flight controller is used here. The FlightAutonomy system includes 5 optical sensor type sensors, as well as GPS and GLONASS navigation. This advanced obstacle detection system enables the "ghost" to avoid collisions. The device easily overcomes any obstacles at a distance of up to 30 meters.

Flight modes

The Phantom 4 Advanced has the following flight modes:

  • Sports. The device is made extremely mobile, and the top speed increases to 72 km per hour
  • Tripod. The drone speed is reduced to 7 kilometers per hour for safe flight in a strictly limited space, or to create a certain composition
  • Manual. Great for smooth and clear shooting when the drone is in a stable balance
  • Positioning. This mode is suitable for return to take-off point as well as obstacle recognition

And here are the smart modes:

  • Draw. Draw technology consists in moving the apparatus along predetermined points. Set your route, and the drone will follow your path on its own
  • Gesture Mode. This gesture mode allows you to control the drone even without a remote control. It is enough to make certain movements for the electronics to automatically recognize them
  • Active Track. Pursuit mode allows you to capture subjects that are moving quickly. The system is able to recognize a wide variety of objects, and then pursues them
  • TapFly. If you use the TapFly function, the copter itself will fly to the point that was specified by the user on the screen. In this case, the device will try to avoid collisions, select the optimal speed

Remote control

This Phantom is equipped with a remote control with an advanced signal transmitter. This ensures clear and stable transmission of the signal. Thanks to this, the drone is capable of flying 7 kilometers.

As for charging the PU, it is guaranteed to last for 5 hours of continuous operation. Such a remote control is multifunctional, as it has additional functions and capabilities.

Motors

The built-in propellers function fast enough, allowing the device to instantly gain the required height at a speed of 5-6 meters per second. The power of the motors makes it possible to resist the wind that blows at a speed of 10 meters per second. The permissible tilt angles have also expanded.

Camera

The Phantom 4 Advanced has a high-quality 1-inch sensor that is 20-megapixel. The high-resolution lens is especially worth highlighting. This allows for the most real professional 4K shooting that seemed fantastic until recently.

This lens consists of 8 separate lenses. This camera is equipped with a mechanical shutter to eliminate the sliding effect.

Battery

Since there is a Dji battery li-pol 15 2v 5870 mah 4s1p for phantom 4, 4 pro part64, the device can last up to half an hour in flight. If the charge level becomes critical, then the copter will notify about it by means of the corresponding sound signal. The battery is additionally protected by a power distribution center.

Impression and conclusion

Phantom 4 Advanced can be called an excellent quadcopter, which has very few weak points. It is a very balanced solution with video positioning, modern design, vision system, advanced cameras, redundant sensors and a variety of modes.

DJI has announced the launch of the Phantom 4 Advanced drone, which will replace the Phantom 4 model in the lineup. The new Phantom 4 Advanced has a more serious camera than the current Phantom 4, and thus, the new product will take place above the Phantom 4, and slightly below than the Phantom 4 Pro.

The "regular" Phantom 4 uses a small 1 / 2.3 ”CMOS sensor with a resolution of 12 megapixels. The updated Phantom 4 Advanced will feature a 20MP sensor and, just as important, a much larger 1 ”format. The new camera uses a mechanical shutter (rather than an electronic one like the Phantom 4) and can shoot 4K video at 60 frames per second, as opposed to 30 frames per second on the Phantom 4.

“More powerful video processing now allows you to shoot 4K video at 60 fps with the H.264 codec, or 4K @ 30 with the H.265 codec. Both - with a bit rate of 100 M / s, ”explains DJI. "Superior optics, sensor and processors deliver the wider dynamic range and finer image detail required for post-production."

Flight time has been increased from 28 to 30 minutes, and the capacity of the microSD memory card has been increased from 64 to 128 GB.

The Phantom 4 Advanced's five optical sensors allow you to use many of the features from the older Phantom 4 Pro model, namely: FlightAutonomy, Draw, ActiveTrack, TapFly, Gesture, Tripod. Dual satellite positioning systems (GPS and GLONASS), ultrasonic rangefinders and forward obstacle avoidance system allow the Phantom 4 Advanced to hover perfectly in one place (including where there is no GPS) and fly in difficult environments.

The word “Advanced” in the name of the DJI Phantom 4 Advanced is already a comparative characteristic and means “advanced”, “more advanced”. However, this was not enough for the developers. The new model will be available in two versions: simply Advanced and Advanced +. Inevitably, one recalls the classic dystopian novel by George Orwell "1984", where in the described future the English language will become increasingly simplified and pragmatic, and comparative degrees will be formed by adding the words "Plus" and "Plus Plus" to the adjectives.

The Phantom 4 Advanced + Plus version features a 5.5-inch 1080p display built into the console. At the same time, the screen brightness is twice as high as that of smartphones.

With the release of the new DJI Phantom 4 Advanced, production of the current Phantom 4 will be discontinued on April 30, 2017. However, the manufacturer promises that support from Phantom 4 owners will continue.

MEET PHANTOM 4 ADVANCED

INTELLIGENT FLIGHT MODES

Draw is a new flight mode based on point flight technology. Just trace a line on the screen and the Phantom 4 Advanced will fly along the desired trajectory, staying at a certain altitude. The pilot can focus on camera control, the drone takes care of the flight. Draw mode has two sub-modes.

Forward: The aircraft is moving at a constant speed along the route with the camera looking forward.

Free: The aircraft moves along the paved path only if it receives a command from the pilot. In this mode, the camera can be rotated in any direction.

ActiveTrack

The Phantom 4 Advanced automatically detects moving objects and follows them. Capturing moving subjects has always been a challenge. However, it is easy to deal with thanks to the Phantom 4 Advanced's advanced object recognition system. This mechanism recognizes more types of objects: people, cars, animals and adapts to following the target depending on its type.

Pilots can choose one of the following modes:

Trace mode. The drone follows a moving object, flies in front of it or around it.

Profile mode. The drone flies to the side of the object.

Spotlight mode. The drone can fly along any trajectory, the object will always be in the frame.

Fly in any direction with one touch of the screen. Click on an area on the screen and the drone will go in the selected direction, avoiding collisions on its way *. To exit the mode, tap the screen again. The new augmented reality element will show the flight path of the drone as a dotted line. It is difficult to simultaneously control altitude, course, flight speed and camera. TapFly Free allows the pilot to set the direction of flight, as well as rotate the drone and tilt the camera without getting lost. The TapFly kit has three modes:

TapFly Forward - choose your direction of flight with one touch of the screen.

TapFly Backward - select a point to fly from it. For example, click on the area in the lower right corner of the screen and the drone will fly its nose back to the upper left point.

TapFly Free - the pilot can freely control the camera while flying in a given direction.

* Anti-collision function does not work in TapFly Free mode.

Return to home

With the updated Return to Home mode, the Phantom 4 Advanced will automatically select the best return path based on environmental conditions. The drone remembers its route in flight and in case of loss of connection with the control panel will return to the owner in the same way.

The Phantom 4 Advanced selects a return route based on obstacles it detects. The Phantom 4 Advanced records the take-off point and uses the record to land at the starting point when returning. In addition, the drone scans the surface to determine if it is suitable for landing. If the drone detects uneven terrain or water below it, it will notify the pilot of this and hover over the surface, awaiting further instructions.

Gesture Mode

Want to take a selfie with your drone? You can put the remote aside, in Gesture Mode you only need one gesture. The Phantom 4 Advanced uses computer vision technology to receive commands using gestures. Stand facing the drone, raise your arms and the drone will point the camera at you. Once you're ready, stretch your arms out in front of you. The photo will be taken in three seconds.

FLIGHT

Flight modes

The Phantom 4 Advanced offers three flight modes to suit all conditions: P, A and S. Are you looking for smooth movement or high speed? Smart Navigation or Ease of Control? Select the mode according to your preference. In Position Mode, functions such as TapFly, ActiveTrack, obstacle sensing and positioning are available. In Sport Mode, the drone becomes agile and fast, reaching speeds of up to 72 km / h. In manual mode (Atti Mode), satellite communication is disabled, the Phantom 4 Advanced maintains balance in height. It is ideal for pilots looking to capture particularly fluid footage. In Tripod Mode, the aircraft's speed is limited to 7 km / h, which is suitable for indoor flying and building the perfect composition. Flight safety is ensured by a system of infrared sensors and optical sensors operating in all of the above modes.

7 km control range

The updated DJI Lightbridge signal technology transmits HD video up to 7 km *. The Phantom 4 Advanced selects the frequency with the least interference before each flight. Pilots can now choose between 2.4 and 5.8 GHz frequencies. Lightbridge sends flight telemetry data to the DJI GO 4 app screen and can be used to quickly download photos and videos to a connected mobile device

Lightbridge is designed with advanced signal transmission technology. She easily adapts to the environment. This system sends high quality images with low signal latency. Traditional analog video and Wi-Fi systems are prone to a lot of interference and can only transmit video of mediocre quality over short distances.

* FCC compliant, in an open area without interference.

Duplicate fixtures

The Phantom 4 Advanced's reliability is ensured by redundant Inertial Navigation System (INS) units and two built-in compasses. Compasses and ANNs are important sensors. The drone is constantly comparing information coming from them. This means that any incorrect data will be blocked and will not affect the flight.

Smart Batteries

The Phantom 4 Advanced has a maximum runtime of 30 minutes, which extends runtime and increases your chances of getting the perfect shot. The DJI GO 4 app shows the remaining battery power and tells you when to replace the battery. The batteries are equipped with a power distribution center that protects them from overcharging and depletion. If stored for a long time, the batteries will automatically discharge.

DJI GO 4

For piloting and shooting, a control panel is usually used. However, in more difficult conditions, shooting requires real-time preview, flight data and advanced settings. This most often requires a mobile device. The DJI GO 4 app is designed specifically for aerial photography and can be installed on a tablet or smartphone and is pre-installed on the dedicated DJI CrystalSky display.

A wide variety of intelligent flight modes are available in the app. With it, you can also change many camera settings manually and receive notifications about the changes made. For greater convenience, the application shows important flight telemetry data from the camera video.

Plus, with DJI GO 4, you can edit footage and share your work. Routes and data for each flight are automatically saved to your DJI GO 4 account and can be viewed at any time.
