    Convenient phone of its time))

    Cheapness; I don't remember anymore

    2 years ago 0

a simple, convenient phone in its class for your money

    2 years ago 0

The model is quite adequate for its price. The sensor responds quickly, the programs do not slow down, the network reception is excellent, the battery lasts well. No frills design - everything you need is included in the set. The pipe is not for 3D games, for a more serious person. Android is an indisputable advantage, I won’t go into detail, everything is clear here.

Pleasant appearance, Build quality (no creaks or play), Compact size, Display that is pleasing to the eye.

Normal phone. Stylish design, loud music. Excellent price. Bought in 2012. For 9000. Wi-fi reception is excellent. Fits in the hand. This is not a Samsung galaxy s 4.

Reliable, has been working for 3 YEARS!!! Reliable case, fell on the asphalt many times, as a result I have several small scratches.

Stylish design, attractive price. Bright display. This is where the advantages end.

    2 years ago 0

It seems to me that the main advantage is the filling that you get for that kind of money! In terms of components, the phone is close to the Galaxy Ace, but the price is very different;). It is assembled soundly, without annoying backlashes. The materials create a pleasant impression, the mechanical buttons work clearly... The sensor is generally worthy of special praise - I have never seen such responsiveness in the budget price category. The screen is clear in almost any lighting conditions, and pixelation is not as annoying as on 240x320 displays. The virtual keyboard is convenient even with male fingers, it seems to know exactly where you wanted to press even if you missed a little :) The organizer, as in all Android devices, is very good and convenient. Slim and stylish design - Samsung is at its best here, as always. For those who want some fun

Sometimes glitches (rarely), there is not enough internal memory

    2 years ago 0

    Permanent screenshots on their own;
    -at the beginning of the call, for some time (~20 seconds), the voice is encoded incorrectly: you can only hear some kind of ironic sound without parsing the words;
    - the phone turns on very often during a conversation. Yes, yes, it turns on exactly: you talk and there is silence. You look at the screen and the phone turns on!
    - the battery in high activity mode holds a charge from 100% until shutdown for about 2.5 hours. I charged it in the morning, came to work, talked for 1-1.5 hours, and the phone turned off!

    2 years ago 0

Sometimes the sensor does not respond to touches

    2 years ago 0

The screen fades in the sun to the point that almost nothing is visible.
It takes a very long time to recover from a plane flight (it takes a long time to search for a roaming network - up to 20 minutes)

    2 years ago 0

I can’t say anything good about the battery. It discharges really quickly. It’s an Android. It slows down terribly!!! Many games don’t load! The camera is normal. The cover gets scratched quickly! The cover has a pattern of some dots. There was all the dirt in them. Mine it is white. It would be better to buy black))) You understand, it gets dirty quickly.

    2 years ago 0

All the same, 180 MB of internal memory will not be enough, applications such as facebook are especially annoying, they eat up as much as 20 MB of memory, with a basic set of programs (which are written to the phone’s memory and not to SD), the memory often runs out, you have to clear the cache, hence sometimes some programs cannot update, such as google maps, skype, etc. It also happens that there is not enough RAM, it starts to become dull, it can be treated simply by resetting the memory in the task manager.

    2 years ago 0

    1. Periodically loses the network. I still don’t fully understand: the reason is in the device or perhaps in the operator, although the old Samsung worked much more stable.
    2. Brakes... I already suspect that I installed some kind of unsuccessful application, which in the background eats up resources so much that sometimes the response reaches several seconds after pressing the button, this is very annoying.
    3. Sometimes you can’t write a message, you have to minimize the window and then log in again.
    4. The battery would be a little more powerful.

    2 years ago 0

It discharges very quickly, it can last a maximum of a day. But this is the case with most phones these days.
-Android platform - for some this may be a plus, but for me a phone on such a platform turned out to be very difficult to master.
-Touch keyboard. Virtual keys are so small that it is almost impossible to write an SMS on the go
-Sometimes the phone seems to live its own life: if you want to set an alarm, it goes into your notes, if you want to make a call, it opens an SMS message window. The return button sometimes transforms into screen-taking functions. It's annoying!

    2 years ago 0

Due to the fact that the case is quite thin - the protective touch “glass” (or rather plastic) is very close to the display, therefore excessive pressing on it can irreparably damage the display itself (although over time you get used to the sensitive sensor and stop pressing hard :)). The battery could be stronger, 2 days at medium load and that’s it (buying a reinforced one saves the situation). The video shoots 320x240, I really hope they will fix this defect with the new firmware.

    1) The sensor is very sensitive. After some time, it starts to glitch and can turn pages in a book or turn on applications (it was the sensor glitch that didn’t find any viruses)
    2) The kernel version is prehistoric, so you can’t hope that you’ll run good games and you won’t need the power that people are raving about when talking about Gio.
    3) Small amount of built-in memory, only on which applications are installed. To install it on a memory card, you need to get root rights, so if you need a gaming phone, then save money and buy a more powerful Android device.
    4) It often lags, let the one who says it’s okay to take something cheap from where it’s not clear, I’ll say right away - I bought it in an elite salon in the city center, the one who says that this phone is super duper doesn’t understand a damn thing about it, or doesn’t

Samsung Galaxy Gio is Samsung's most affordable smartphone to date and takes pride of place in its rich lineup. It was first announced in January 2011. The low price of the device (about $170 at the time of writing) ensured its high popularity both among young people and among lovers of budget, high-performance devices. The S5660 is equipped with an 800 MHz processor and runs Android 2.2 operating system. Below are detailed specifications.

Appearance of smartphone, screen

Externally, the device looks like other devices in this line. The same rounded edges and elongated shape. The build quality is 4+, and the plastic used is of pretty good quality. On the back panel you can see a corrugated surface, as well as a camera and speaker.

Video review of Samsung Galaxy Gio

Iron

The Gio has a very good Qualcomm MSM 7227 processor, which operates at 800 MHz by default. This is quite enough to perform the vast majority of tasks, and even allows you to play almost all modern toys. There is 256 MB of RAM, which is actually a kind of standard for devices of this class. But the volume of built-in ROM is quite meager, only 158 MB. But this is not a problem at all, since you can purchase a microSD card with a capacity of up to 32 GB and easily store large amounts of music and movies in your smartphone.

Multimedia and camera

The phone has a 3.2-inch display and its resolution is 320x480 pixels. The camera is equipped with autofocus and is capable of taking pictures with a resolution of 2048x1536, which means it has 3.2 million pixels. Video recording is supported at 15 frames per second. And finally, it’s worth mentioning communications. It has everything you need: Wi-fi, Bluetooth, GPS, USB, as well as 3G. In fact, this is the entire necessary set.

: In February this year, Samsung demonstrated four new Android smartphones. These were the Samsung Galaxy mini S5570, Galaxy Fit S5670 and Galaxy Ace S5830 models. Reviews of these models have already been published on our website; the final review will be the Samsung Galaxy Gio S5660.

Samsung Galaxy Ace turned out to be a real hit among the middle-class Google phones; it is an extremely attractive device for its money. The Samsung Galaxy Gio S5660 is in a class slightly lower than the Galaxy Ace S5830. There are not many differences between them, but they have helped reduce the price of the Galaxy Gio. It has a smaller screen diagonal (3.2 inches versus 3.5) and a slightly simpler camera (3 megapixels versus 5, while autofocus remains here).

It has the same Android 2.2, a processor with a clock frequency of 800 MHz, and the battery capacity remains unchanged - 1350 mAh. The model can be considered as a more affordable solution compared to its older brother in the model range.

Appearance

Samsung Galaxy Gio S5660 turned out to be very modest. The remaining three models at least somehow stand out and try to be considered more or less original. The designers clearly did not intend to make this smartphone unusual. It is extremely simple (or perhaps laconic?). The body is completely made of plastic, only one color option is available. It has a black front panel paired with a dark gray back panel.

This smartphone looks unprepossessing, but you can feel that this device is one of the inexpensive models. But at the same time, the device is assembled efficiently and soundly, there is nothing to criticize here.

In numbers, the case looks like this: 110.5x57x12.2 mm, weight 102 g. The phone is of the usual size, it’s convenient to work with.

The front part of the smartphone is covered with a black plastic insert, under which is the device screen. On the side there is a edging made of shiny plastic. It brings some variety to the design of the device.

On the top of the front panel there is a speaker hidden under a thin insert.

There are three buttons below the screen. The central key is mechanical, it is edged with a thin chrome rim and functions to return to the desktop. If you hold it down for a few seconds, recently launched applications will be displayed. On either side of it are a pair of touch buttons. The left key brings up the function menu, and the right one allows you to go back a step. The keys are equipped with white backlighting, but it only lights up when the user touches the button.

At the top end in the right corner there is a 3.5 mm jack for connecting headphones. No included headset is provided. This can hardly be called a disadvantage - usually such headphones are not distinguished by their quality.

At the bottom there is a microphone hole. You can also see a notch that helps you remove the back cover. There is also a universal microUSB port.

On the left side there is a very convenient volume control key. It is pressed with little effort, but at the same time protects against accidental pressing. A little higher there was a place for a strap mount.

On the right side there is a medium-sized display lock key. She turns the device off and on. In the middle there is a slot for microSD memory cards. It is covered with a folding cap that stays tightly in place.

The back panel is made of dense plastic. The material was chosen well, I like this matte plastic. There are no traces of use left here. The back of the smartphone is covered with many small indented dots. Due to this design, the device fits perfectly in the hand and does not slip.

In the upper left corner there is a 3-megapixel camera lens. To the right, under a pair of slits, a ringer speaker is hidden.

The lid sits in place very tightly, which is nice. The phone will not irritate you with creaking or play. Under the removable part there is a battery that blocks access to the SIM card.

Display

The Samsung Galaxy Gio has a capacitive TFT screen with a diagonal of 3.2 inches and a resolution of 320x480 pixels, displaying up to 16 million colors. Viewing angles are not the best, the image changes colors depending on the position of the phone.

In the sun, the data is not visible very well, the image fades, you need to set the brightness level to the maximum level in order to view the information on the phone screen. It is worth noting the reflections of the glossy surface of the front panel.

The sensor works well, without any complaints, the multi-touch is convenient and practical. The proximity sensor turns off the screen during a call when the phone is placed against your face. There is no light sensor in this model. The brightness has to be adjusted manually, selecting convenient parameters.

Platform

Qualcomm MSM7227 processor with a frequency of 800 MHz, Adreno 200 graphics accelerator. 256 MB of RAM and 160 MB of data storage are available. Support for microSD memory cards allows you to significantly expand the space for media content. I tried media from 8 to 32 GB inclusive, and the device worked with all of them without any complaints.

Interface

The smartphone menu is a combination of Android 2.2 and the proprietary TouchWiz 3.0 shell. However, it is worth considering that there are some changes here. For example, there is no convenient function for displaying missed calls and unread messages in the form of puzzles. Here is the standard Android way to unlock the screen.

For comfortable use of the phone, you can install widgets using both the standard set for Android and those specially developed by Samsung. For widgets, 7 desktops are allocated, on which you can place additional functional elements at your discretion. If desired, you can remove the part of the interface that has become unnecessary at your discretion. As a desktop design, you can use a picture from one of the preinstalled ones or added to the phone’s gallery manually. The picture on the screen is also set in locked mode. It may differ from the background image on your desktop.

If you go to the phone menu from the widget panel and exit it, the device will return back to the last widget. The following are available: clock (several types), locator, market, news and weather, program tracking, search, photo frame, power management, Yahoo finance, YouTube. As you can see, there are not many of them; they are available on any device with the Google platform. You can add application shortcuts to the desktop, create folders and change the background image, using both animated images on the desktop and installing static images from the gallery.

Application Manager displays the 6 most recently used programs.

At the top of the screen there is a service line, which shows the time, battery charge, and signal reception level indicator. Active connections and other data are also displayed there. By clicking on a line, you can find out in more detail about what programs were downloaded, what messages and letters were received, or what files were received via Bluetooth. A separate line highlights the inclusion of Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, silent or vibration alert modes - almost a complete analogue of the widget, except that it lacks a variable screen brightness level.

When the phone screen is locked, it displays the date and time (in large characters), as well as service information. To unlock, you need to pull the lock icon to the right. If you move the bar to the left, the silent mode will turn on.

To enter the menu and launch an application, you need to click on the icon located at the bottom of the screen. There is a line of four icons that are constantly displayed on the display in any menu item. These are Phone (dialer and call log), Contacts, Messages and Applications.

The menu is presented in the form of 4x4 icons; an option in the form of a vertical list is also available. If desired, you can move icons to other tables, thus organizing applications to your liking. As you add and install new programs, they are automatically placed on the screen. They can be deleted directly from the menu; you just need to go into edit mode. But you can only delete programs that you added yourself; those installed by the manufacturer are not subject to such an operation.

Phone book

The general list shows stored contacts both in the phone memory and SIM card, as well as data from your Google account. You can choose among them by setting the ability to display subscribers only from the selected memory type.

By clicking the field reserved for the subscriber's picture, you can make a call, send him a message or email, and also view information about him. There are many fields allocated for it - these are various types of telephone numbers, email addresses, means of quick communication (AIM, ICQ, Gtalk, Skype and others), residential addresses and anything else (nickname, birthday automatically added to the calendar, note) . There is a quick call to 8 selected subscribers.

If the subscriber is assigned an image, it will be displayed on the screen. To simplify the search, you can use the vertical line on which the alphabet is depicted. Thus, by sliding your finger over it, the letters pop up and you can quickly find your way around. Of course, there is also a standard search function among contacts. Numbers can be divided into different groups, which are assigned an individual signal.

From the phone book, you can quickly call or write an SMS to a person - you just need to swipe your finger left (call) or right (message) on the line with the subscriber's name. A similar function is used in the Bada mobile platform. By clicking on the space reserved for the subscriber's picture, a quick menu is called up, with which you can send a message, mail, or make a phone call to the selected person.

Call log

You can access the call log directly from the phone book - it is highlighted in a separate tab. The numbers are organized by date. If desired, the amount of displayed data can be reduced to a minimum or, conversely, the most complete informational list of events of recent days can be obtained.

Having selected a subscriber, you can see what calls were made and how many times - such a collapsed list is much more convenient than a long string of dialed numbers of the same type. The number is dialed using a virtual keyboard. When entering numbers, the smartphone automatically displays on the screen contacts stored in the device’s memory with similar numbers in the number.

Messages

For SMS and MMS there is a common folder where received messages go. When sending, adding various objects to the SMS can automatically convert it into an MMS. The phone can display the last used numbers, thereby greatly simplifying the search for the recipient.

Messages are sent simultaneously to several subscribers and to a group. The device combines correspondence with subscribers into dialogues. The smartphone can automatically delete old SMS if there is no desire to store thousands of archives on the device. As you type text, you can cut, copy, and paste it. There is a set of funny android emoticons.

There are several ways to enter text. Mini-QWERTY layout is available in vertical orientation. If you turn the phone on its side, it will automatically change the image, adding a larger QWERTY layout. There is the usual 3x4 option, similar to a regular telephone keypad with T9 support. There is also the possibility of handwriting text input.

There is an original input function - it is called Swype. Its essence is that you just need to move your finger along the layout with signs, and the device will independently generate words based on which characters were touched by the user’s hand. For clarity, during such input, a blue bar is displayed on the screen, which allows you to avoid confusion when typing text. The function is very convenient, it independently places problems between words, selects words well, and most importantly, you can type text very quickly. If the word is short and a combination of several possible options is possible, then the phone will display them, then you need to choose between them yourself. You can add new words to her vocabulary. Thus, you can be convinced of the excellent capabilities of the phone in terms of correspondence - everyone will be able to choose the optimal dialing method for themselves.

Email

As with any other device based on the Android OS, there is a separate application for Gmail, as well as another that can work with other mail servers (including the above one). You can create multiple email accounts, each with its own color. This is convenient because you can view mail for each mailbox separately, and display messages from all accounts in one. And it can already be seen in which of the boxes the new message arrived.

Copying and pasting text is supported. The capabilities of email clients include zooming images using your fingers - multi-touch is simple and convenient. You can change the background when viewing emails. The smartphone allows you to view files of known types attached to the letter (for example, images or office documents). When sending mail, there is a function for adding various files to attachments. For both messages and email, the font size is adjustable. The user configures the check interval, sets an alert signal or a vibration alert.

Gallery

The gallery works in both vertical and horizontal orientation. Working with files is accompanied by nice animation effects. Working with files is amazingly fast, image previews are quickly generated, scrolling through images works very quickly and dynamically. Files are displayed in a 2x3 or 3x2 grid, depending on the position of the device. In the preview folders, the pictures are already smaller in size, thanks to which there are no longer 3, but 4 pictures vertically.

The image opens in full screen, scaling works using multi-touch. Files can be sent via email, Bluetooth, SMS or hosted on Picasa. You can assign images as desktop wallpaper or assign them to a contact. It supports image rotation, cropping, and displaying additional information about a specific file.

Images are shown both in folders (for example, received via Bluetooth, photo section) and ordered by date. This makes it very convenient to view photos - there are several sections in the same folder. You can scroll either using the bar displayed at the bottom of the screen or by simply touching the screen with your fingers anywhere on it.

Player

The player's interface is simple and intuitive. A general list displays all the songs in the smartphone’s memory. There are also additional columns: Playlists (you can use both existing ones (Popular, Last listened, Last added) and create your own), Albums, Artists, Genres, Composers, Years.

While playing music, the cover specified in the file tags is displayed on the screen; if there is none, there will be a multi-colored picture instead. The screen displays the name of the artist, the name of the album and the song being played. Tracks can be put on repeat (song, album, all songs) or listened to in shuffle mode. Virtual keys are used for navigation (forward, backward and pause), and you can also switch between songs by flipping through the file cover image. While listening, you can set your favorite song as a ringtone, contact or alarm.

The user has access to numerous equalizer settings. And the following settings are available: Auto, Normal, Pop, Rock, Jazz, Dance, Classic, Live sound, Other (audio profile created by yourself). You can select the audio effect: Normal, Wide Range, Concert Hall, Music Clarity, Bass Boost, Externalization.

This model does not have a function that would allow you to switch tracks when the phone is locked. If other models with TouchWiz have a drop-down disk located at the top of the screen, here the possibilities are more modest. It is only possible to switch tracks using the keys at the top of the status bar. There is also an extremely simple widget for the desktop.

The player's sound is typical for Android-based devices - even good headphones can't help, the phone is not able to compete with the player. The sound is not impressive, background noise is audible and, in general, there is no pleasure in listening to music. Although the audio path will not discourage the undemanding buyer and will give pleasant emotions.

Radio

The receiver supports RDS, can work in the background and turn off after a set time period (30 minutes, 1 or 2 hours). The automatic search function for radio stations works. You can display your 4 favorite radio stations on your desktop and quickly switch between them.

As with the player, there is a pop-up window at the top of the screen for quick navigation between stations. To end the radio broadcast, a separate “stop” key is provided.

Video

There is no separate video player in the smartphone, this is another difference from other models. The videos go to the gallery, where you can watch them. There is no support for DivX and XviD codecs in the Samsung Galaxy Gio smartphone. Therefore, anyone who needs to watch video on their phone screen will have to install an additional application. Fortunately, there are plenty of them for Android. The player itself is extremely simple. The video is displayed almost full screen, you can rewind the videos. There are no other functions.

Camera

It uses a 3.2 megapixel camera with autofocus. There is no dedicated key to start shooting. It can only be activated from the menu.

The interface is simple and convenient: in the upper right part there is an icon where photos are saved (to the phone memory or to a card), and the number of photos for which there is enough space to save them. Below is a large vertical key – this is the descent.

The following camera settings are available:

Shooting mode: Single shot, Smile detection, Continuous, Panorama.

Shooting conditions: Portrait, Landscape, Night, Sports, Party, Beach\Snow, Sunset, Dawn, Autumn colors, Fireworks, Text, Twilight, Backlight.

Exposition.

Focus: Auto, Macro.

Timer: 2, 5, 10 seconds.

Resolution: 3.2 MP (2048x1536), 2 MP (1600x1200), 1.3 MP (1280x960), 0.3 MP (640x480).

White Balance: Auto, Cloudy, Daylight, Incandescent, Fluorescent.

Effects: Normal, Negative, Black and White, Sepia.

Metering: Center-weighted, Spot, Matrix.

Quality: Best, Excellent, Normal.

The geotagging function is supported; the shutter sound can be selected from one of three available ones or turned off completely.

From shooting mode, you can go to the gallery to the last photograph taken.

Examples of pictures can be seen below. The quality is usual for this type of device.

Applications

Calendar

The display type can be configured: events for a month, a week, a day, or only records are displayed. Weekdays are highlighted in white, Saturday and Sunday are highlighted in blue and red. Those dates for which any events are scheduled are additionally marked with blue dots. The current day of the week is clearly visible - a blue cursor is automatically placed on it. The user also configures the calendar depending on the day the week begins, as well as choosing a convenient display format.

When creating a new record, it is given a name, period and location. You can specify which calendar it will be synchronized with, and you can send invitations to contacts from your address book. The repetition period is set (every day, weekly, monthly, yearly). A reminder will help you not to lose sight of the recording - the alarm will go off in advance.

Watch

The screen displays the time, date and weather forecast.

The smartphone allows you to save several alarms in memory. The repeat can be set either once or every day, only on weekdays or weekly. You can also set specific days. The signal melody is set, you can add a vibration alert and a text file to it. The period for the signal to be triggered again is set.

Designed as a wooden board with a sheet of paper attached, notes allow you to create notes.

YouTube is a standard application for most modern devices. Allows you to view videos and search among them. It works in full screen mode.

Weather forecast and news are useful every day.

The calculator works in both portrait and landscape orientation. There are additional functions.

The voice recorder is simple and convenient; it saves recordings both in the phone memory and on a card. The recording time is set by the user. Maximum duration is 12 hours.

The smartphone has a built-in file manager. It supports sorting by time, type, file name and file size. It allows you to move, copy and rename files.

Android Market is necessary for every device of this class - there the user can evaluate thousands of applications and select the necessary set of applications for himself. There is a convenient search function, as well as dividing programs into categories, which greatly simplifies browsing. You can look at the reviews, evaluate the rating and express your opinion about the software. Each application is provided with a brief description and images for greater clarity. Purchased applications are displayed in a separate list.

GPS navigation

Google Maps is used for navigation - standard software for all Android backgrounds. The only drawback is that the program requires constant network activity, which affects the amount of traffic consumed by the device. Traffic jams are displayed, so the application has become fully functional and convenient not only for pedestrians, but also for car owners.

There is a function for determining the current location, calculating the route from the starting point to the ending point, and setting the method of movement: by car, on foot or public transport. The route is laid out on the map, and key places are indicated in the form of text messages, which are displayed on the screen in the form of a column; you can switch between them: view the route in advance or vice versa, go back and plot another path. Scaling works using multi-touch or virtual buttons.

Browser

A convenient application is used for Internet surfing. A navigation bar is displayed at the top of the screen, and to the right of it there is a shortcut that allows you to bookmark the page. The phone remembers the most visited pages and has a log of pages viewed.

Multi-window support, word search on the page, text selection, as well as a practical function for changing screen brightness directly from the browser. Thanks to multi-touch, pages can be easily scaled (virtual keys also work to change the size of what is displayed).

The font size changes, saving passwords works. The browser works quite quickly. We can only note the lack of Flash support due to the hardware features of the device.

Connections

The phone operates in the frequencies 850/900/1800/1900/2100 MHz.

The device has Bluetooth 2.1 (with A2DP support, of course). The Wi-Fi module with b/g/n support works great. The microUSB connector, which has become a standard, allows data transfer via USB 2.0. DLNA support allows you to view photos and videos wirelessly from compatible devices. The device can also work as an access point.

Settings

As with all devices based on the Android OS, all the possibilities for the optimal configuration of your smartphone are collected here.

Battery

The phone has a 1350 mAh lithium-ion battery. According to official data, the phone should work up to 11 hours in talk mode, up to 640 hours in standby mode. The phone charges in about 2.5 hours.

When using various functions, on average, the phone worked for a day. The conditions are as follows: 2 hours of listening to music, constant synchronization with services (mail, twitter), 30-40 minutes of calls, screen brightness set to maximum. If you do not use network connections so intensively, the smartphone can work for up to 2-3 days.

Conclusion

There are no complaints about the model regarding the volume of the conversational speaker. The phone can be heard quite well outdoors, but sometimes there is noticeable rattling indoors. The vibration alert is average in power.

If the Samsung Galaxy Ace turned out to be similar, then the Samsung Galaxy Gio S5660 looks completely neutral. The design of the device is simple, but the creators cannot be accused of plagiarism. Functionally, both smartphones almost completely replicate each other. Samsung Galaxy Gio costs about 9,000 rubles, while Samsung Galaxy Ace is about 1,500-2,000 rubles more expensive. The younger model has a slightly smaller screen diagonal and does not have Gorilla Glass protective coating. The camera module is a little simpler, and there is no flash. Otherwise, the devices are the same and, in general, both Android phones can be recommended for purchase. If you want to save money, the Samsung Galaxy Gio S5660 will look more attractive.

please help me unlock the keyboard on Samsung galaxy gio S5660, the picture was entered many times

Posted by: Katya
The phone seems fine. Recently in March, so as not to wake up the family (when you turn on the phone, there is a melody that cannot be turned off). To prevent the sound of the phone from being heard, I turned on the water tap, and accidentally, out of the habit of frequently washing my hands, I put the phone under the water. I took it out. , and I think what I did. It’s good that there was a special protective film on the screen. I immediately wiped off the phone and went to school. The phone works. But lately, when you just put it to your ear, it buzzes. When you start calling someone, the buzzing goes away somewhere. Of course I understand that I’m a fool, but what should I do?

No one is bothered by that letter E on the top near the battery. She eats money. If anyone knows, tell me

I’ve been working with this smartphone for several months, there are no particular complaints, notifications go when the battery is charged, Nokia headphones work without problems, Wi-Fi is OK, it works fine, there’s only one problem, when I send a file to my classmates via Bluetooth, it doesn’t reach end of sending - in the notification line: "Sending via Bluetooth Success: 0 Failure: 1", when I poke there - I see that "The remote device is not responding", but the remote device was turned on and did not freeze (I tried to send from this smart to a friend who Samsung Star TV file - error 50-60% of sending). And new phones (such) with Android 2.3.3. I have experience with Android (tested on Android VM 1.6, 2.2, 2.3, 3.2, 4.0). However, it’s a good smartphone, there are a lot of useful applications (which is good), when I first connected to the network I updated it (not Android, but the Market became Google Play Market). There is a program that downloads from the market to the computer. I use it to download applications, and then download them to the smart phone - it works, wow... And in the settings everything is color instead of black and white in versions M3-2.2. I pumped up the music, installed Windows , in short, I’m happy. I wish I had a Wi-Fi zone at home... :) update it periodically

I bought this phone - the Power button does not work. At all. Apparently a marriage. Now run to return it under warranty.

Posted by: Deni
By the way! In open areas I find 6-7 companions. It’s just that during a cold start (first start), so to speak, it needs time. I waited about 20 minutes. Then the process happens faster. And dear Moreman, without having reliable information, you should not mislead people. First check and make sure, and then write comments. If anyone has questions, write to [email protected]. Let's help as much as we can! :) The device is really worth the money! I personally am very pleased with the purchase, and when I saw what games this miracle could play, my joy knew no bounds!

Tell me, when talking, everything croaks, otherwise it’s normal. But everyone complains, they say that if you call you, you won’t understand anything. Tell me, is this a marriage?

Guys, the phone is great and I figured it out right away. I know what and how to set it up, if you want, please contact me.

“GPS never found a single satellite.” - this is because, dear Mikhail, manufacturers often hide information about the fact that A-GPS is not GPS at all! If Google Maps does not work without network activity, this means that in the forest, in the sea, in the mountains where there are no GSM transmitters, this “navigation” does not work.
By the way, in this review, dear Alexander Pobyvanets did not explain this, not unimportant, point!

Katy, I downloaded the agent version, I think 10, it has everything at once: agent and ICQ and Odnoklassniki and contact. I downloaded it simply through a search.

The phone is only 2 days old, so I can’t fully evaluate it yet... the first impression is good, but since I listen to music every day, I have a question: how to transfer music from phone to phone via bluetooth, I didn’t find such a function in the options

Damn people, what kind of ICQ should I download for it??? I downloaded everything and it doesn’t work... please tell me

The device is not bad. Received it as a gift in January 2012.
At first I thought Samsuuung, well, not very likely (before that I always used Nikia, I was always pleased with the reliability, quality of reception, quality of the speaker and microphone, lack of glitches).
However, after using it for about 2 months, I will say that in general the device is not bad, I will specifically describe the pros and cons:

Pros:
1. Loud speaker (many people write that it is quiet, I will say that the ringer volume is higher than, for example, the iPhone 4S and about the same as the Nokia E71).
There is also quite decent sound quality and volume when headphones are connected (I have good headphones, I bought them separately).
I often connect the phone to the radio in the car (via a standard 3.5 mm jack), the sound quality and ease of use are very pleasing (including the fact that, for example, if someone calls while listening to music in the car, the phone automatically pauses playback and makes it possible to answer a call via bluetooth (this is for those who use a bluetooth headset; those who don’t can use this situation to use car acoustics as a hands-free kit without any additional purchases or hassles.) After the conversation, music playback resumes).
2. Good "smart" (Android 2.3), it still works faster than Nokia.
3. High-quality screen (I didn’t test it in direct sunlight, but during use there was never a situation where the image was difficult to read).
+ very high-quality screen sensitivity, responds clearly, just as clearly when typing SMS (for typing, by the way, there is a very convenient function with which you can type text by sliding your finger across the keyboard, it turns out incredibly quickly, there are a minimum of errors.
4. Not a bad camera (not rocket science, of course, but in normal daylight it’s quite decent).
5. The Wi-Fi module, like many others write, works great, connects quickly, good signal level.
6. The build quality is very good, as many people write - nothing creaks, no play, fell on a concrete floor 3 times, did not break, did not burst, strong)))

Minuses:
1. Naturally, like all users of these gadgets, various glitches appear over time (I would like to separately note that new devices just bought in a store also have glitches, and the glitches are unrealistically severe, for example: spontaneous shutdown, reboot, spontaneous sending of SMS according to the phone's address book, freezing during a call and in standby mode, and even cases of turning off and then not turning on.. at all, HOWEVER, I would like to separately note that these glitches are present, according to reviews, in models Sony-ericsson, HTC, LG, Nokia, etc. .i.e. from almost all manufacturers, and in a ratio of approximately 50 to 50 (!). What this is connected with is a mystery, you can only hope for luck when buying phones, and from any manufacturers (!)
Separately, I would like to note that specifically in my case, NO glitches appeared during use (although quite a few applications were installed (some also write that the internal memory of the phone is not enough, personally, it is enough for me to run these applications).
2. Like all devices based on Anrdoid, the battery life leaves much to be desired, less than a day of active use (this is naturally not a problem with this device or Samsung, this is a common Andriod problem), however, I easily solved this problem by purchasing an external battery for 6600 mAh (www .neomarket.su/product_info.php?products_id=471), enough for 5 full charges, i.e. for about a week of active phone use.
3. Display glass (in fact, it is not glass, but a special plastic, so the possibility of scratches is much higher, although in my opinion it is not a problem, because I glued a high-quality film and forgot about it, it is not even noticeable).
4. The lack of a flash on the camera (depending on who knows, it’s not important for me, because I don’t use the camera often, especially at night).
5. The network signal reception level is still rather weak (on Nokia it’s a full scale, on this device there are two out of 4 bars).

At the time of the start of sales, this device no longer had advanced technical characteristics and was a budget phone built on the Qualcomm QCT MSM7227T platform and running on the Android 2.2.1 Froyo - 2.3.7 Gingerbread operating system.

The date of announcement of the sale of the smartphone falls on the first quarter of 2011, and it began to be sold in Russia and Europe almost simultaneously.

Samsung Gio was positioned by the manufacturer as a replacement for Nokia touchscreen smartphones running on Symbian 9.4, as well as an alternative to Symbian Anna and communicators running on Windows mobile, the characteristics of which were completely inferior to the new budget device, which ultimately allowed it to gain its market share.

Samsung Galaxy Gio has successfully outlived competing devices and has not lost its relevance thanks to the efforts of the authors of unofficial firmware, the latest of which is currently Android 4.4.4 (KitKat).

Packaging and delivery

The Samsung Galaxy Gio was delivered in a small bright box, which contained a delivery kit containing the accessories necessary to work with the smartphone.

The standard configuration of the model does not include a headset, which is partly compensated by the presence of a 2Gb memory card.

Contents of delivery:

  • Samsung Gio GT-S5660.
  • Battery EB494358VU with a capacity of 1350 mAh.
  • Charger-USB ETA0U10EBECSTD.
  • USB cable Samsung PKT-199.
  • Memory card 2Gb microSD.
The delivery set is a standard set of budget accessories that are not of high quality, but have worked successfully for 3 years from the date of purchase of the smartphone.

Design and materials

The device is manufactured in two colors designed for different audiences: white (Silver White) and gray-black (Dark Silver).

Samsung GT-S5660 represents one of the faceless smartphones of the Galaxy series, completely made of a body made of different sizes of plastic.

The build quality of the gadget is at a high level, which cannot be said about the quality of the materials themselves. The body of the state employee has seriously worn out over the time since the purchase.

Using the device without a case will result in the rapid appearance of small scratches on the screen and obvious peeling of paint on the body.

The only element that resists the rapid loss of its presentable appearance is the back cover of the device, made of corrugated plastic.

The device weighs 102 grams with case dimensions of 110x57x12 mm, which allows you to conveniently use the device with one hand.

The case materials and the transparent protective plastic covering the top of the case do not collect fingerprints and are easy to clean with a regular napkin.

The build quality of the Gio GT-S5660 is not satisfactory. On the front panel of the device there are two touch keys and one mechanical key, which perform the functions of “calling the application context menu”, “back” and “home”.

On the left, at the end of the device, there is a volume rocker and a place for attaching a strap.

On the right is a slot for a micro-SD memory card and a power button.

At the top of the device there is a 3.5 mm jack for connecting headphones, at the bottom there is a microphone hole and a micro-USB connector.

Software

The smartphone initially runs on the Android 2.2.1 Froyo operating system, but is supported by its official update to version 2.3.7 Gingerbread.

Unofficial firmware allows you to install Android 4.4.4 (KitKat) on this gadget. The device is based on the Qualcomm QCT MSM7227T chipset with a core clock speed of 800 MHz.

The graphic characteristics of the device are represented by the Adreno 200 video accelerator.

Main characteristics of the model:

  • Processor Qualcomm QCT MSM7227T 800 MHz;
  • Graphic video accelerator Adreno 200;
  • Own memory of Gio GT-S5660 - 150 MB;
  • RAM Gio GT-S5660 – 278 MB;
  • Memory card 2/32 Gb.;
  • Capacitive touch screen with HVGA 320x480 pixel resolution;
  • Battery (lithium-ion) Li-Ion 1350 mAh;
  • GPS(A-GPS)/Bluetooth 2.1/Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n.
Sensors:
  • Approximations;
  • Linear acceleration;
  • Turn;
  • Three-axis accelerometer MBA220.
The technical part allows you to run “light” games on the phone and almost all software available for this device.

Screen

The Samsung Galaxy Gio display has a real physical size of 68x45 mm with a TFT-LCD matrix resolution of 320x480 pixels.

The screen transmits up to 16.7 million colors and has low readability in the sun, as well as relatively small viewing angles. The multi-touch display supports two simultaneous touches.

Cameras

A budget camera module with autofocus and a 3.15 MP resolution allows you to take pictures up to 2048x1536 pixels. Video recording is implemented in a resolution of 320x240 pixels and is mediocre.

The device does not have a camera button, so shooting takes place exclusively through the phone software. The Galaxy Gio camera is suitable for photographing documents and ordinary photographs in good lighting conditions.

Sound, player, radio

The device does not use the loudest speaker, but it allows you to listen to music in proper quality.

Using a 3.5 mm jack to connect a headset or headphones solves this problem. The smartphone has Internet and FM radio, which allows you to listen to both online and analogue radio stations.

Samsung Galaxy Gio does not belong to the class of multimedia combines, so its multimedia capabilities correspond to the budget class of devices.

This problem is partially solved through the use of third-party players and high-quality vacuum headphones.

Battery

The EB494358VU battery with a capacity of 1350 mAh used in the smartphone allows you to freely use the device throughout the day.

In everyday use, the device showed acceptable battery life, which can vary greatly depending on the installed software and operating system version.

Internet

The Internet capabilities of the smartphone are well developed and allow you to fully use the device for Internet surfing, chatting on social networks and watching streaming video in low resolution.

Conclusion

A budget phone, just a phone, since its main capabilities in the world of modern smartphones displace the Galaxy Gio into the category of additional devices.

Using this device as a main smartphone is difficult due to its low hardware qualities.

The device is suitable for schoolchildren, students and other people who do not require their device to follow the trend of increasing MHz(s) and screen resolution.

Thanks to the large number of users of this phone, custom firmware for it is still being released, which makes the device relevant as a second device today.
