How to save a downloaded file on your computer. Last uploaded files

Many inexperienced computer users cannot find the file downloaded from the Internet. It seems that the file was downloaded successfully, but where exactly is not clear. You can try to find it by opening all the folders in a row, but this way you can spend a year of your life without finding anything. So what do you do? Where are the files saved on the computer? Where to find them then?

Where files are saved in the browser

But, let's figure it out gradually. Let's consider the procedure for searching for files using the most popular browsers.

If you are using Internet Explorer, even before downloading the file, you can save the document to a convenient location by clicking "Save As". After that, a new window should open in which you need to select the required folder and click "Save". If you just clicked save, and you have no idea where the file was saved, then go to the browser settings, and then in "View downloads". As a result, a list of downloaded files will open, from which you need to select the desired one.

The process of saving a file in the Opera browser is similar to the previous one. To search for a previously downloaded file, you need to find "All downloads" in the left functional panel and click on it, after which a list of all downloaded files will open, and all that remains is to find the one you need.

With the Firefox browser, things are a little more problematic. The problem is that when saving a file, it does not ask you to specify it for saving, and sometimes it is difficult to find it. To search for the required download, go through the following menu chain: "Tools"\u003e "Downloads", and then find the required file in the window that opens.

If you are an ardent adherent of the Google Chrome browser, then you can find the file you just downloaded in the panel below, or go to "settings" and select "downloads" and search for it in the list.

It is also worth knowing where the downloaded files are saved via the Torrent program. The file is saved in my documents, or in the download folder, but the location of the file can be changed by going to the program settings.

If you have not changed the settings in the browser or torrent, then the files are saved by default in the folder at D: \\ Users \\ Username \\ Downloads.

Where are temporary files stored

Many are also interested in the question: where are temporary files saved? The location of temporary files depends on which files you are looking for.

Temporary program files are saved on the hard drive where the operating system is installed. That is, you need to open, for example, drive C, then go to the "Documents and Settings" folder, then to the "Username" folder, then to "Local Settings", and finally to the "Temp" folder (For Windows XP) or first drive C, then "Users", then the folder "Username", then "Local Settings", and "Temp" (for Windows Vista and 7)

If you are interested in the location of the temporary browser files, then they should be searched for by the chain drive C: \\ users \\ Username \\ Local Settings \\ Application Data \\ Browser name.

If all attempts to find the file were unsuccessful, but you remember at least part of its name, then use the standard Windows search.

Have you ever had a situation when you downloaded a program, and then you cannot find it on your computer? If yes, then I think it's time for you to deal with this issue - after studying this lesson, you will forget about this problem once and for all, because you will know where the files are downloaded.

Some novice users are sure that after downloading the file disappears somewhere. Others simply claim that they cannot download. In fact, the reason is not in the disappearance or inability, but in the misunderstanding that before downloading you need to know exactly where this file will be downloaded.

Remember - before you start downloading (uploading, uploading) a file, you need to know the specific location on your hard disk where the downloaded file will be placed. That is why, let's immediately figure out where the files that we download go to.

If during the download of the file there were no failures, our antivirus did not give any signals, and we are sure that the download is complete, then most likely the file was downloaded normally, and our task is to find it.

Most often, novice users download from the Internet using (you probably have Opera, Firefox, IE or Chrome). More experienced users use for this. But not all users know that any browser (or program) is initially configured to download files to a specific location.

Check these folders and most likely you will find your "lost" files there.

But it should be noted that these are very inconvenient places for storing information, since they are located in the same section as the operating system (Windows). If suddenly some kind of failure occurs in the system, and you need to reinstall it, then all files in these folders will be deleted.

Therefore, I suggest doing the following: create a separate folder for all downloads (in a more secure location on your hard drive) and configure your browser (or program) to download all files to this folder.

If you agree, then let's get started ...

You can create a folder anywhere, but it is important that it is not a system partition (usually drive C). For example, you can create a folder in section D and name it "Internet Downloads":

Now let's configure our browser so that all downloads go to this folder. I'll show you how to do this using all major browsers as examples.

Opera

Launch Opera and go to browser settings. This can be done from the menu ( Tools - General Settings) or simply by pressing the key combination Ctrl +F12.

In the window that appears, go to the tab Extended (1), then select the item Downloads (2), then using the button Overview… (3) find and select our folder (4):

After that we press the button Ok (5).

Configuring downloads in the browserFirefox

Launch Firefox, click the button at the top of the window Firefox and select the item Settings (or the same through the menu Tools - Settings):

In the window that opens, on the tab The main (1) using the button Overview… Ok (4):

Configuring downloads in the browserInternet Explorer (version 9)

Launch IE and press the key combination Ctrl +J... In the window that appears, click the item Parameters at the bottom of the window:

And in the next window using the button Overview… (1) find and select our folder, then press the button Ok (2):

Configuring downloads in the browserChrome

Launch Chrome and click the icon with the key in the upper right corner, and in the drop-down menu select the item Parameters:

In the Chrome browser settings, the buttons Ok no, because all settings are saved without confirmation, so there is no need to press anything else.

As you can see, there is nothing complicated!

Configuring downloads in the program Download Master

The same settings can be done in any download program (download manager). For example, in the program this is done through the menu item Tools - Settings:

In the window that opens, in the left list, select the item Uploads (1) and using the button Edit (2) find and select our folder (3), then press the button Ok (4):

Have you downloaded a file to your computer from the Internet and can't open it because you can't find it? Let's consider how the functionality of searching and managing downloaded files works in browsers: Mozilla Firefox, Opera, Google Chrome.

To search for downloads in Mozilla Firefox, click on the arrow icon to open the downloads panel. In the window that appears, you see the three last downloaded files, and to view all downloads, activate the "Show all downloads" item. Open the required download by double-clicking on the file. If the list of downloads is cleared, but you remember for sure that you downloaded the file through the smear, refer to the "Settings" window on the "General" tab. Look at the path to save files in the downloads section. Next, find your file in the Downloads folder following the prompts. In Mozilla Firefox, by default, this is where Internet downloads go. In the Opera web browser, similar to Mozilla Firefox, downloads are opened through the Downloads panel in the upper right corner. Click on the arrow - you will see a list of recent downloads. Click "More" - all "Downloads" will open. Pay attention to its functionality. The presence of active buttons "Open" and "Show in folder" greatly simplifies the work with files downloaded from the network. By default, all downloads through the opera go to the "downloads" folder - this is also prompted by the address bar of the main "Downloads" window. Downloads in Google Chrome, in contrast to muff and opera, are at the bottom and are highlighted in the download process. Open the downloaded file by clicking on it through the pop-up download panel. By default, files are saved to the Documents library in the Downloads folder - use this information if the panel is out of sight.

Hello!

Each computer contains many different applications, some of which are necessary and unnecessary. It is extremely difficult to understand them.

From time to time they need to be reinstalled or removed as unnecessary, but before that they still need to be found.

And today I would like to tell you about how to find a program in a computer.

The cherished button "Start"

Take a close look at the desktop before starting your search. Many applications, often during the silent installation process, create their own shortcut on the desktop by default. To start it will be enough to click on the corresponding icon.

You can also find the "loss" using the "Start" button.

Click on it and in the drop-down window you will see a complete list of your applications. To run the installed program or open its specific file or folder (help, installation, etc.), select the desired line and click on it.

Control Panel

There is also another way to get on the list. However, to use it, you will need to click on the "Start" button again. In the window that will open to you, you will find a section called "Control Panel", click on this inscription and go into it.

Now you need the Programs and Features section. It will take you to a list containing a list of programs installed on your PC. The list will be in the form of a table, in which absolutely all applications will be indicated in strict alphabetical order, the date of their installation, version, size, and the publisher.

Hover the mouse cursor over the application and click on it, select the action to be performed (you can restore, delete, change it). But before uninstalling, remember that a deleted program cannot be restored if you do not have the installation file.

In the same menu, you can also familiarize yourself with the installed updates. To do this, select the "show updates" option. After that, you will be presented with a list where you will be asked to familiarize yourself with all the updates. They can be removed or installed.

If you cannot find the "Programs and Features" section in the Control Panel, in such a situation you should use the search function (usually the search is at the top).

Enter the keyword or full name of the section you are looking for in the appropriate field and go to the page with the results. Often, this process is straightforward: what you are looking for should be at the very top of the list.

The search function makes it easy to find the program. It is advisable to know which disk it is on. Typically this is drive C. Specifying the correct drive will dramatically reduce the search time. It is not necessary to enter the name of the program in full, enter only those words from the name in which you are 100% sure! If you make a mistake, you will definitely not find anything.

That's all, actually! If the described manipulations cause you some difficulties, and you still want to be familiar with the computer, then take the course “ Genius geek"! This course is perfect for you if you:

  • Want to have a lucrative job that requires compulsory knowledge of office software.
  • Have basic computer skills but would like to improve your computer literacy.
  • You are just starting to use a PC and do not know anything about it and its capabilities.

In a few months of training, you can become a real computer genius!
