Remote control of a computer via the Internet. TeamViewer - remote computer control

Hello, friends. Today we will get acquainted with a unique program that every user should have. TeamViewerprogram for remote computer control... What is it for you? Let's think ...

So, you have the Internet and a computer, is it logical? If there are practically no problems with the first one (it either exists or it does not exist), then with the second one constantly, something happens. Either the antivirus does not want to be updated, then interesting program is not installed or the game... Or maybe the program was installed, but you could not figure it out on your own. It often happens that The computer started to "slow down", throws out all sorts of windows about the lack of free disk space ...

You can endlessly enumerate the problems encountered by users of such a complex machine, they accumulate constantly, like a snowball, and if they are not eliminated in time, then very soon you will no longer want to sit down at the computer. He will annoy and enrage you (poor mouse - she usually suffers first).

So what to do if you are a professional in your field, but somehow it didn’t work out with computers, you don’t have time to delve into it, or do you have another excuse? It's very simple - remember how in stagnant times, every resident of the country of the Soviets had a friend who could get some kind of deficit? So today, nothing has changed, only instead of "dostavala" everyone should have a friend who is versed in computers.

And they are there - your children, grandchildren, work colleagues, acquaintances of acquaintances, friends ... it's another matter how they will help you if they do not live with you, in the other end of the city, or in general - not in your city, country? Elementary. They will just sit at home, in front of their monitor, but for your computer and everything will be repaired and debugged for you in 5 minutes.

Don't be surprised - it can be very easy to do. 21st century in the yard. Install TeamViewer, it generates your login (ID) and password, send them via ICQ, Skype, in an email or dictate on your mobile phone, in extreme cases, to your personal "hacker" and he, no matter what hole in the planet is, comes to your computer and fixes everything. You just have to drink tea with sweets and watch the actions of the assistant in your monitor.

TeamViewer creates a virtual, secure tunnel between computers on the Internet and allows you not only to remotely poke around in other people's computers (with the consent of the owner), but also transfer any data (files, films, photos, programs ...) bypassing any firewalls and other obstacles. You can also watch the actions of other users on your computer during your absence, from your workplace, for example.

Remember we did video surveillance system and spied on smoking children? So now you can change the angle and look not at them from the webcam, but at the monitor with their eyes. Just be careful - the program supports in addition to video and audio communication, there is a chance to make your kids stutterers if you want to scold them without warning.

"And where are you going, dear !?"

Conversely, if you understand computers, then you are probably constantly asked for help. So TeamViewer is the best tool to provide this assistance. We went in, did it, left - quickly, severely and without the quiz "what is this, for what and why?" Do you understand me.

Convinced you of the usefulness of this program for remote access to a computer? Then go ahead - install it and learn to use it. It will only take you a few minutes.

More about portable programs

This point depends on the degree of trust in the assistant.

I have not installed, but it is quite possible that you want to use this feature.

Do not be too wise and write down the result of mental attempts on a piece of paper - otherwise you will forget, as always, everyone forgets. Remember the easiest way to come up with a strong password? English keyboard layout and typing looking at Russian button symbols. Everything ingenious is simple.

The same is right for you. But having created an account, you do not have to worry about passwords and logins every time. The principle, as in ICQ, is on the network, which means you can connect from the list of computers. It is very convenient for helping parents - there is no need to torment them with "complex" body movements every time.

Remote administration software has always been popular. After all, it is very convenient to see what is being done on the computer while in a completely different place. You can remotely help friends solve some technical problems, check what the child is doing when he is alone at home, see how the download is going in a torrent client or the encoding of a large video.

Since smartphones and tablets have appeared in home local networks, along with computers and laptops, it has become obvious that the latter are incredibly convenient to use for remote control. If the data transfer rate is fast enough, why not play the game installed on the computer while lying on the couch with the tablet? Or, say, not watching an interesting movie? In addition, today's mobile devices can perfectly cope with the usual tasks that are assigned to programs for remote access.

On Google Play, you can find more than a dozen applications with which it is possible to organize remote control of computers running on Windows, Mac and Linux. Among them are the developments of well-known manufacturers of administration software, and programs created specifically for mobile devices. There are not so many free solutions among them. In this review, we tested four applications with which you can remotely work on a computer from an Android smartphone or tablet.

⇡ Microsoft Remote Desktop

  • Developer - Microsoft Corporation
  • Size - 4.4 MB
  • Price - free

A proprietary utility from Microsoft for remote control of a computer with Android was released quite recently - at the end of October. Using the application, you can control a computer that runs on Windows 7 or Windows 8. Since we are dealing with a "native" solution from a developer of a desktop operating system, you do not need to install any client on it.

But in order to be able to connect, you still need to make some changes to the system settings: go to "Control panels" in the "System" section and select the item "Remote access settings". After that, you need to allow remote connections to the computer (by the way, if the built-in firewall is disabled, Windows will not allow you to enable remote access, so first you have to start the corresponding service).

The Microsoft Remote Desktop Android application uses the system username and password for authorization. If you are going to log in with an administrator username, you do not need to perform any additional actions on the computer. To allow access to other users, you need to click on the "Select users" button and add them to the list of remote desktop users. It is also worth keeping in mind that if a password is not used to log in to the system, it must be added in the "User Accounts" section, since without a password, remote connection will not work. ( Please note that remote connections using Microsoft Remote Desktop are only available to computers that support the Remote Desktop Protocol - RDP. The list of systems that are friends with this protocol is available here. - approx. ed . )

After completing this simple setup, you can download the Microsoft Remote Desktop app from Google Play and add a new connection.

Its settings indicate the IP address of the computer in the local network or its name. Also, if you wish, you can specify a login and password for entering (for security reasons, you can not specify them immediately, but enter right before connecting).

If the connection is successful, local work with the computer will be blocked and the login window will pop up on it. If you log on locally, the remote connection will be terminated. Thus, when connecting remotely, you can see the desktop only on the screen of the mobile device.

Once connected, the remote desktop is displayed on the device screen. There are two controls at the top of the screen: buttons for displaying the Android virtual keyboard and for navigating the screen.

If you need to use keys that are not on the Android keyboard, touching the panel with the name of the connection can bring up the advanced settings panel. From there, you can switch to the virtual keyboard with the keys F1-F12, Esc, Home, Tab, End, Win, Ins, Enter and others - standard for a regular desktop manipulator. When connecting remotely to a Windows 8 device, pressing the Win virtual key toggles between the desktop and the Start screen.

From the advanced settings panel, you can also disable multi-touch gestures and switch to navigation mode using the normal cursor.

To end the dial-up session, simply double-tap the Back button on your Android device.

⇡ "Teamviewer - Remote Access"

  • Developer - Teamviewer
  • Size - 11 MB
  • Price - free for non-commercial use

Thanks to its free status (for non-commercial use) and its simplicity, Teamviewer has long been one of the most popular remote administration solutions. With the advent of the mobile era, applications were also created to manage computers running Android, iOS and Windows Phone.

To control a computer from a mobile device, you need to install a PC client and an Android app. TeamViewer can connect to Windows, Mac and Linux computers.

If you do not intend to connect to other devices from your computer, TeamViewer QuickSupport is the best option. This module does not require installation and administrator rights. After its launch, a unique computer identifier (9 digits) is generated, as well as a four-digit password. The password can be updated if necessary.

After this module is launched, you can open the mobile application. Mobile Teamviewer can operate in two modes: remote control and file transfer. In either case, on the screen of a smartphone or tablet, you will need to enter an ID and password to connect to a computer.

If a remote connection was requested, then after a successful connection, the computer desktop will appear on the device screen. It will also be visible on the computer monitor, but the resolution will be changed in accordance with the screen settings of the mobile device.

To ensure a comfortable work with Remote Desktop, the creators of TeamViewer have developed a whole system of controls. Fingertips for navigation are shown before connecting and can also be displayed at any time during a remote session. So, with the help of your fingers, you can scroll, simulate clicks of the right and left mouse buttons, move the cursor and individual objects.

The TeamViewer Control Panel is located at the bottom of the screen. It can be used to quickly end a session, send a remote computer to reboot, or block it. In addition, for the duration of the remote connection session, you can prohibit local work with the computer. If you are experiencing problems with displaying the Remote Desktop, you can try to reduce the resolution, data transfer quality, and also hide the display of wallpaper in the mobile client settings. These parameters can be selected both for an individual connection and globally.

The control panel also provides the ability to quickly display the virtual keyboard. In addition to the Android keyboard, you can also work with additional keys: enable Ctrl, Alt, Shift, use the F1-F12 keys and others.

In file transfer mode, you can see the file system of a remote computer and copy files from a PC to a mobile device or vice versa.

The TeamViewer mobile client remembers the IDs of the computers to which you have connected, but if there are many remote PCs, it is more convenient to use the Computers & Contacts section to manage them. To do this, you will need to create a Teamviewer account (you can do this both from a mobile device and from a computer). Then you can create groups in it and add identifiers (and, if desired, passwords) of computers to which you want to connect.

  • Developer - Splashtop
  • Size - 18 MB
  • Price - free (functionality expansion - $ 1.99 per month)

Splashtop Remote is another free app that lets you from Android deviceyou can control your Windows, Mac and Linux computer. It uses a slightly different distribution model than Teamviewer. For non-commercial use, the program is free, but to use some additional features, it is proposed to buy an extension. Among the paid options: access to a remote computer via the Internet (you can only control it over the local network for free) and tools for conveniently creating annotations on the screen. Also, the free version has a limit on the number of computers that you can connect to - up to five.

A Splashtop account is required to use the application. You can create it both in the mobile application and in the Splashtop Streamer desktop client. To make a connection, as you might guess, you need to log in on both devices under your account. The mobile client then detects computers that are available for connection, and you can open a remote control session.

In the settings of the mobile client, you can even enable automatic connection at startup. In this case, the list of available computers will not be displayed and the application will connect to the device for which the remote connection session was last performed.

By default, you do not need to enter any additional passwords, but if you are concerned about unauthorized access, you can enable a password prompt for your current Windows account in the desktop client settings. In addition, it is proposed to use a security code, that is, simply put, a password that will need to be entered each time to connect.

Some of the security settings that are available in other solutions in mobile applications are suggested to be configured in the desktop client in Splashtop. For example, you can disable the display of the desktop on the local computer screen during a remote communication session. You can also block the use of the keyboard and mouse, initiate logging out of the account upon completion of remote work.

One of the features of Splashtop is the transmission of HD video with sound to a mobile device. Thanks to this, you can, for example, watch a movie on a tablet that is running on a computer, or play a computer game remotely. At the request of the user, during a remote communication session, Splashtop can transmit sound only to a mobile device (it will not be heard locally), not transmit sound (it will be heard locally), or broadcast it both there and there.

When connected remotely, the screen resolution on the computer does not change, and - unless otherwise specified in the client settings - you can continue to work on the local PC. To control the desktop of the Android computer, a number of gestures are provided (for beginners, tips on how to use them are provided), as well as a touch panel.

Cursor parameters can be controlled by changing the sensitivity and speed of movement. On a mobile device, you can view your computer desktop at its original resolution, or scale it to fit a small screen.

  • Developer - Wyse Technology Inc.
  • Size - 11 MB
  • Price - free (with some restrictions)

Another free solution with which you can remotely access your computer desktop is PocketCloud. True, for Linux users it will not work - the desktop version only supports computers with Mac or Windows. The mobile client is free to use with only one computer. To remove this limitation, as well as to get some additional functions, you need to purchase PocketCloud Remote Desktop Pro.

One of the strengths of the application is the ability to choose the type of connection. By default, the simplest method is used, which does not require any technical knowledge from the user - via Google App Engine. In this case, you will need to enter your Google account information in the desktop client and mobile application. After that, the computer will appear in the list of available devices on the mobile screen - and you can start a connection session to it.

For advanced users, PocketCloud offers two more options for remote connection - via the RDP protocol, which is used in Windows, and also via the popular VNC system. In either case, you will need to enter the IP address of the computer to which you want to connect.

After connecting, a special navigation element appears on the screen of the mobile device near the cursor - a wheel with various functions. It is useful for right-clicking, zooming in to a specific area of \u200b\u200bthe screen, scrolling, or displaying a virtual keyboard.

A number of settings are provided in the settings of the mobile client to improve the quality of image transmission. So, you can turn off menu animations, themes, wallpapers, high quality fonts.

⇡ Conclusion

Almost all developers of applications for remote control of a computer provide their programs for non-commercial use for free. And we must admit that the proposed functions are quite enough for ordinary tasks. Each of the applications is somehow attractive: to work with Microsoft Remote Desktop, you do not need to install additional software on your computer, Splashtop Remote provides sound transmission to a mobile device, PocketCloud is interesting in that it offers several connection options. Finally, Teamviewer looks the most attractive because it has a separate mode for transferring files, it can work both in a local network and over the Internet, and does not impose restrictions on the number of computers to which you can connect.

Surely not every PC user (especially a beginner) knows that a computer can be safely controlled from a distance, and fully! Those. as if you are sitting and working at your own computer, but from a distance, and do it, for example, from a tablet or another computer. This can be very convenient and, for example, I use this opportunity regularly. Why do I need it? I work a lot on the Internet, but I can't always sit at my computer. Sometimes I need to go somewhere or to someone, but some urgent matter appears and I need my computer to open some program, start something, look. Carrying a computer with you always and everywhere is very problematic. It weighs about 4 kg for me, which feels good when carrying it :) But on the other hand, I always have a tablet or smartphone with me, from which at any time and from any place I can connect to my computer, which I leave on at home. And so I can work on it just as if I were at home. Another reason for remote access is the ability to ask some acquaintance or colleague to help you deal with any problems in the settings, programs on your computer via remote access. Also, you yourself can help someone solve some problem on the computer by connecting remotely to this person. And the last thing ... It so happens that the required computer is in a hard-to-reach place or you need to go to it. In this case, too, the easiest way is to connect to it remotely and you're done!

In this article of mine, we will just talk about how to remotely control a computer from any device, and with the help of this guide you will learn how to do it easily even as a completely newbie! We will consider the most, in my opinion, the most convenient program for this business - TeamViewer, and today I will tell you about its main most necessary and useful functions. Besides, it is also free for non-commercial use! There are only 2 conditions for remote device control: Internet connection on both devices, and TeamViewer on both devices.

To date, the TeamViewer program is supported, one might say, by all devices:

    Smartphones based on Android, Windows Phone 8 operating systems;

    Tablets on the same Android systems, Windows Phone 8;

    IPad of all modifications;

Computers based on the operating system Mac, Linux, Windows.

For all these devices, the TeamViewer application can be downloaded free of charge.

It is also interesting that you can control and vice versa - smartphones and tablets from a stationary computer.

So, let's begin to understand the program step by step, starting with the installation process.

Installing TeawViewer

First you need to download the program itself. It is best to download from the official site, as there will always be the latest version. Go to the official TeamViewer website using the link:

    teamviewer

At the top of the page that opens, you can't help but notice the large button "Free full version". Here we press it:

After downloading the file, find it on your computer and launch it. The file will have the name: "TeamViewer_Setup_ru":

In the next window of the program, you will be asked to select an option for using TeamViewer. These settings can be changed after installation at any time. If you want to control this computer (on which you are installing the program) remotely, then immediately select the appropriate item. Otherwise, just select "Install".

Below you must select the item "Personal non-commercial use", since the program is distributed free of charge only for this use case.

At the end, put a checkmark "Show advanced settings" and click the "Accept - next" button:

Windows User Account Control may ask you for confirmation to proceed with the installation. Just click "Yes":

In the next window, we check the path where the program will be installed, and change it if desired. But I recommend leaving the default path. The options below can be omitted. All of them, if necessary, can be set after installation. Click the "Finish" button:

A quick installation process will begin, which will take from a few seconds to a minute.

This completes the installation of the TeamViewer software! Let's move on to its settings and application.

TeamViewer setup

Setting up uncontrolled access to the computer:

Now we can freely control this computer from any other device, wherever we are in the access zone to the Internet :) But for this we will deal with the information that we (or anyone else) needs to know so that we can connect to this computer remotely.

Data required for remote control of any device:

Perhaps the most important thing is to know the data by which you can connect remotely to the current computer.

To connect to this computer from another computer / device with TeamViewer installed, you only need to know:

    ID of this computer;

Password for accessing this computer via TeamViewer (not to be confused with the password for logging into Windows!).

All these data are located in the main window of the program:

According to my example (see the image above) for remote access to this computer at the moment I need to specify ID: 900 288 832 and password: 6sx71k on the remote device.

The TeamViewer ID does not change for each specific computer. Those. the one that is indicated in the window you will always indicate when connecting remotely. There are 2 types of passwords in TeamViewer: temporary (random) and personal (permanent). Now more about this:

I hope you understand the difference in passwords :)

Now let's go through the main most important program settings.

Basic program settings:

To go to all the program settings, open the "Advanced" menu at the top and select the "Options" item:

We will immediately go to the "General" tab. Here you can enable or disable the automatic start of TeamViewer when Windows starts. If you are going to control this computer remotely, then I strongly recommend leaving this item enabled. Then you don't have to start TeamViewer manually, and even more so if you are far away, and TeamViewer will not be running on this computer, you will not be able to connect to it.

Below you can see a message that you are linked to a previously created account. If you click the "Delete" button, you can break this link.

On this tab, there are no more important settings that are not set by default. Go to the next tab "Security".

On the "Security" tab, we can change the "Personal" password by specifying a new one and repeating it at the very top. Below you can set up a "random" password by specifying the number of characters. By default, this password will always be 6 characters long.

In the last section, "Rules for connecting to this computer," you can allow or deny remote login using the Windows password. It is safest to leave this parameter set by default, i.e. - "Is not allowed". The easiest way to connect is through the TeamViewer password and it will be safer that way.

Remote control tab. There are important settings here. All of these settings are global - i.e. for any connection. But if you have created an account for yourself (as mentioned), then for each computer added to your personal list, you can set your own connection parameters, but more on that later.

This is how the settings look on this tab:

At the very top, you can adjust the image quality when connected to a remote computer. It is better to leave either "Automatic quality selection" or "Optimize speed". I always set the speed optimization to connect to a remote machine and work with virtually no delays, even via mobile Internet. There is only one drawback - the image quality (the way we see the remote computer) will not be the best, but sometimes this is not even noticeable.

Below, as you can see, the option "Hide wallpaper on a remote machine" is enabled. This means that when connected to a remote computer, the background of the desktop there will just turn black. I always leave this option on, so as not to waste resources downloading, at times, a large background image.

Even below are additional settings that are configured for everyone according to their preferences. For example, if the "Play computer sounds and music" function is enabled, you will hear all sounds of the remote computer accordingly.

It can be useful to enable the "Pass shortcut keys" option. If you enable this option, then having connected to a remote computer, you can use your usual keyboard shortcuts. For example, quickly open the task manager - "Ctrl + Shift + Esc".

In general, here you configure it as you need it.

Let's go straight to the Computers & Contacts tab.

The "Computers and Contacts" tab will display your account settings, which will then show all the remote computers and users you added. On this tab, you can change account information, as well as display settings for computers.

On this we have sorted out the basic settings. Now let's move on to the main thing - remote computer control.

The principle of remote computer control

To control a computer or any other device (they must also have TeamViewer installed and configured!), We can, as I said, from any point where there is access to the Internet and we just need to know the ID of the controlled device and its password (random or permanent ). Knowing these 2 parameters, we can control the computer.

Let's try to connect to the computer remotely:

In the main TeamViewer window, where the "Manage computer" section is located, specify the ID of the computer that we will control in the "Partner ID" field.

If you created an account, then we can immediately add the computer to our "Favorites" list by clicking the button with the star icon:

Before us will open a window with settings for accessing a computer, which we add to the list:

In the image above, I marked the fields and lists where it is best to make changes:

    • Specify the password if you know the "personal" password of the remote computer. Otherwise, leave the field blank.

Specify the network name of the remote computer (for your convenience). It will appear in the list of your computers.

Optionally, you can specify a description of the added remote computer for convenience, if you have a large list of them.

In the "Window" list, I selected "Full Screen Mode". This means that when connected to a remote computer, TeamViewer will display the remote computer in full screen. It will look like you are fully working on that computer. You can choose another option, for example, "Window mode", and then the remote computer will be displayed in the window.

In the "Quality" list, I always choose "Optimize speed" so as not to sacrifice performance, especially on a slow Internet connection.

Identity mode is always best set to TeamViewer Identity. Then you just need to know the password set for this or that computer in TeamViewer to connect to it.

The rest of the settings can be left with the "Inherited" value, because, as a rule, they are not needed and, in extreme cases, can be configured at any time.

When the settings are specified, click the "OK" button.

The computers that you will add to your list will be visible in a separate window, as in my example in the image below:

In the example, I added a computer named "Test TeamViewer".

Now that the computer is in the list, to connect to it, simply double-click the left mouse button on its name. If you immediately specified the password, then it will not be requested and the connection will immediately occur (within a couple of seconds).

Another way to quickly connect to a computer, if for some reason you did not start an account and do not add computers to your favorites list, is just enter the ID in the appropriate field and click "Connect to partner":

By default, the "Remote control" mode is just what we need. And we can turn on the "File Transfer" mode at any time already during a remote session.

Now a window will be displayed where you need to enter the password to connect to the remote computer:

Enter the password and click the "Login" button.

The connection usually takes a couple of seconds, but this depends, respectively, on the speed of the Internet from one side and the other. After connecting to a remote computer, the window will look like this:

As you can see, the screen of the remote computer is black. As you probably remember, in the settings we left the option "Hide wallpaper on the remote machine" enabled. As a result, the wallpaper on the remote machine turned black, which will reduce resource consumption, and immediately after disconnecting from the remote computer, its desktop wallpaper will return to its previous appearance.

It's so simple and easy to connect to a remote computer :)

You will be able to fully control your computer at any distance, and at the same time it will look exactly as if you are sitting at that computer.

Let me remind you once again that the same can be done from almost any device. If you, for example, have an iPad, then download TeamViewer on it (it's always free!), Enter the ID and password of the remote computer, and that's it! You will connect and be able to control it directly from the tablet, and it is also very convenient!

Now let's look at some of the functions available to us during a remote session.

Functions available during a remote computer session using TeamViewer:

So, we are connected to a remote computer. At the top we see a panel with a set of functions. Let's go through the most necessary ones:

Button numbered "1" allows you to break the connection with the remote computer at the moment.
After any termination of a TeamViewer session on both devices, a window will appear indicating that the free session has ended. Just always click OK:

You can also instantly disconnect the connection while behind that remote computer. For example, someone remotely assists you in setting up the system or fixes some problem. If suddenly that person began to do some actions on your computer that, in your opinion, he absolutely does not need to do, then you can cut off the connection with only one button in the form of a cross (see the image below):

The button numbered "2" allows you to hide this panel of remote session functions.

Button numbered "3" allows you to instantly switch to full screen mode, which I use 99% of the time.

A very useful feature is the transfer of files from the local computer to the remote and vice versa. This can be done by simply dragging and dropping the necessary files from your computer window to the remote computer window.

Another way is to use a special manager called File Transfer. It opens from the same panel that is fixed at the top. We select the item "File Transfer", and then again "File Transfer":

A special manager - explorer will open. There is also nothing difficult here. We indicate from which folder of the local computer the file will be transferred, then we indicate the folder where the file will be transferred to the remote computer. Then we select the file itself on the local computer, which we will transfer and press the "Send" button:

The file will be transferred to the remote computer. In my example, I was transferring an image file called "" from the Downloads folder to the desktop of the remote computer:

After transferring the necessary data, the file transfer manager can be closed, and a window with the statistics of the transfer of your files will be displayed, where you need to click "Close" again:

Or you can minimize this window.

There are 3 more very useful functions that are available during a remote session. This is the possibility of voice communication, video broadcasting and chat support.

All 3 of these functions can be activated by selecting the "Audio / Video" menu:

Here you can change the zoom, for example, enable full screen mode. Here, in the “Quality” submenu, you can select the quality you need for displaying the content on the remote computer, for example, by enabling “Optimize speed”. Also here you can change the resolution of the remote computer (for example, if the resolution of your local computer is very different) and show / hide the wallpaper on the remote computer. Everything else is not so essential and necessary ...

Well, this is perhaps the most useful thing you need to know about how to remotely control a computer using TeamViewer :) Cool program, isn't it? :)

The most important thing is that it is extremely simple, convenient, and even a beginner can handle it. And, of course, it's free! In general, to be honest, I have not seen the best worthy replacement for the TeamViewer program.

And now I think that in a couple of weeks I will complete the article, and you will be able to familiarize yourself with the next testing of the new autoclicker!

Well, now I say goodbye to you for a week ... Good luck and always good mood! ;)

This lesson will tell you how you can control a computer from a distance, or rather, how to quickly and easily set up remote access.

Don't know what remote access is? I assure you, remote access is such a useful "thing" that will be useful to every user, especially a beginner. And to make sure of this, let's figure out what it is and how to "do it" ...

To put it simply, remote access is working with a computer at a distance, i.e. the ability to connect via the Internet to someone else's computer (of course with the owner's permission) and control it from your computer.

Why is this needed?

For example, your friend asks you to help figure out a program, but you are too lazy to go to his house, and it is unrealistic to do this over the phone. Or this friend generally lives in another city (or maybe even in another country). What to do in this case? Of course, it is better to "get into" his computer without leaving your home, and show how the program works, while your friend will observe all your actions on his computer.

Or you yourself find yourself in a situation where something incomprehensible is happening to the computer and you need the help of a specialist. In this case, instead of calling the assistant to your home, you simply organize remote access to your computer, after which the specialist will be able to "look" into your computer even from a thousand kilometers away.

If this sounds like a fairy tale to you, then you are mistaken! It is really real and very easy to do. Therefore, let's not waste any time and begin to understand how it works in practice.

So let's say we want to set up remote access between computer1 and computer2 .

Let's agree that # 1 will mean the main computer, i.e. the computer from which remote access will be carried out. And let's assume that we are sitting at this computer.

And by number 2 we mean a computer, access to which we will be allowed, i.e. our client's (friend's) computer.

Thus, we (sitting at computer # 1) will have to get access to computer # 2, which can be located anywhere in the world.

The goal is clear and so now let's start connecting step by step.

To create remote access, we will use a special program called TeamViewer.

Step 1: Prepare Computer # 1

Download and install the full version of the TeamViewer program on our computer.

For non-commercial use, this program is distributed free of charge, so feel free to download and proceed with the installation.

In the pictures below, you can see what settings I chose during installation:

Step 2: Prepare Computer # 2

Two options are possible here:

a) If remote access will be used ONLY in one direction (to this computer), then it is not necessary to install the full version of TeamViewer on this computer. It will be enough to download a small TeamViewer QuickSupport client module that does not require installation (and administrator rights). Downloaded, clicked on the downloaded file and it already works!

b) If computer # 2 will sometimes also be used as the main one, then it is necessary to install the full version of the program.

In this lesson we will consider the first option, i.e. the client does not need to install anything, just download TeamViewerQS.

Step 3: Run the program on computer # 1TeamViewer

Step 4: The client launches the TeamViewerQS program on computer # 2

As you can see, in the window that appears in the client's window there is some data that is necessary to configure remote access, namely ID and password.

Step 5: The client (computer # 2) tells us (computer # 1)ID and the password that the TeamViewerQS module gave him

To do this, you can use any available communication method (phone, icq, skype, e-mail, etc.)

Step 6: Enter the received data into computer # 1

First, enter the ID in the appropriate field:

For example, if we want to exchange files, then select the item File transfer, and if we want to show the operation of a program or configure Windows, then select the item Remote control.

After that we press the button Connect to partner.

In the window that appears, enter the password received from the client and press the button Login to the system:

That's all!!!

If we did everything correctly and did not make a mistake when entering data, then in a couple of seconds we will get access to computer # 2.

If the access method was selected Remote control, then it will look like a separate window on our screen, inside of which everything that is currently displayed on the computer screen 2 will be visible:

Note that by default, the desktop image of computer # 2 will not be displayed (it will be black).

If we start to perform any actions in this window (open folders, copy or delete files), then the client will be able to observe all our actions on his screen (and he will be very surprised that the mouse cursor moves itself :)).

With this access, we can control computer # 2, but we cannot copy files between our computers. Therefore, if you need to exchange files, when setting up the connection (after entering the ID), we must select the item File transfer.

In this case, after connecting, we will see a window similar to a file manager:

All our disks will be displayed on the left in this window, and on the right the disks of the remote computer. Having opened any disk or folder, we can copy the required file to the folder we need.

As you can see, the program allows you to configure remote access even for a beginner in just a couple of minutes and does it without any additional settings. Well, if you have a desire to change any settings in the program itself, then you can do this by selecting the menu item Extras - Options.

A situation often arises when you need to connect to a remote computer from a phone or PC in order to perform any actions there. This is a very useful feature if, for example, you need to transfer documents from your home computer while you are at work. In today's article, we will show you how to configure remote access for different versions of the Windows operating system.

There is far from one way to connect to another computer. For these purposes, you can use either additional software or refer only to the system tools. You will learn about both options and choose the one that suits your liking.

Attention!
The prerequisites for creating a remote connection to a computer are:

  • A password is set on the PC to which they are connected;
  • The computer must be turned on;
  • Both devices have the latest network software;
  • A stable internet connection on two computers.

Remote access on Windows XP

Remote control of a computer on Windows XP can be enabled using third-party software, as well as standard tools. The only important aspect is that the OS version should only be Professional. To configure access, you need to know the IP of the second device and the password, and you need to configure both PCs in advance. Depending on the account from which you logged in, your options will also be determined.

Attention!
The desktop to which you want to connect must be allowed remote control and selected users whose accounts can be used.

Remote access on Windows 7

In Windows 7, you first need to configure both computer using "Command line" and only then start setting up the connection. In fact, there is nothing complicated here, but the whole cooking process can be omitted if you use programs from third-party developers. On our website you can find and read detailed material in which remote administration on Windows 7 is considered in detail:

Attention!
Just as with Windows XP, on the "Seven" must be selected accounts through which you can connect,
and access must be allowed.

Remote access on Windows 8 / 8.1 / 10

Connecting to a PC on Windows 8 and all subsequent OS versions is no more complicated than the above methods for older systems, even easier. Again, you are required to know the IP of the second computer and the password. The system has a preinstalled utility that will help the user to quickly and easily set up a remote connection. Below we leave a link to a lesson in which you can study this process in detail:

As you can see, it is completely easy to manage a remote desktop on any version of Windows. We hope our articles have helped you understand this process. Otherwise, you can write questions in the comments and we will definitely answer them.
