Office programs for the iPad. The best office apps for iPhone and iPad

Using a tablet is convenient for both entertainment and work. If your work involves documentation, you are a journalist, writer or student, then you need the presence of Microsoft Office on the tablet. Its use allows you to work with documents, spreadsheets and presentations. For some time now, this application has become free and now you do not have to pay about a hundred dollars a year for a subscription.

The office consists of the main components: Word is used for documents, Excel or PowerPoint is used for creating and working with tables for making presentations. To use Word and Excel, you do not need to download the entire package, you can download separate applications: word for ipad and excel for ipad. To date, using the office is completely free, even in editorial mode. Office supports the Dropbox cloud where you can work with documents and save them.

Microsoft Word

This application is used to open, create and edit files with the extension ".DOC". Most of the working documentation at most enterprises is in this format. It is common and opens on almost every device, which is why this format is so popular.

The documents that you create in word on the ipad will easily open on a personal computer. Outwardly, they will look the same as on the iPad. In this app you can use SmartArt objects ... They will expand the possibilities for presenting information through tables, diagrams and graphs. Here you can use not only the Russian keyboard, but also the English one.

There is a built-in autosave function. It makes it possible not to lose the workings of the created document when you turn off the gadget during work. You do not need to worry and constantly think about the time to save. This is convenient in those cases when you get carried away with work and put the battery down.

The iPad version has the same features as the computer version. You can change fonts, insert footnotes, use tables, etc. After you have created a word document, you can send it by email. Then you can download the file to any device.

Microsoft Excel

An application designed to work with tables and calculations. An irreplaceable assistant for an office worker. The main direction of the program is the creation and viewing of tables. Excel on ipad creates files that display correctly on other devices, in particular on a PC. In the mobile version, you have the same functionality as the computer one.

If for some reason your gadget turns off, the program will save work at the level where the shutdown occurred. If you have previously gained experience in working with Excel on a PC, then you can navigate in the mobile version very easily.

Microsoft PowerPoint

This application will allow you to easily create an interesting presentation on any topic. If you are working with presentations, there is no better tool. You can create a presentation on any gadget, be it a tablet or a smartphone, and then send it to a PC where it will be displayed in the correct form.

There is an autosave function that allows you to save the work in the program in the event of an emergency shutdown of the tablet. If you have previously worked in PowerPoint on a computer, then you can easily navigate in the mobile version. The application has wide functionality, like the PC version.

Office counterparts on the iPad

In addition to the standard Microsoft Office package, you can find many interesting analogues in the AppStore. In terms of functionality, they are not inferior to their eminent brother, in many respects they even surpass. Among them there are both paid apps and free ones.

hopTo

This program is a good alternative to the Microsoft Office package, has support for text files, presentations and tables. You can work here by directly connecting to a PC and via Microsoft OneDrive cloud storage , Google Drive, Dropbox, Box. You can download the application from the AppStore.

The interface is adapted for a mobile device, which ensures comfortable work in it. Its peculiarity is that you can cut a fragment in one place and move it to another file. You can use search for all cloud storage. The function of setting a password for access to the document is available. Its downside is that most of the functions are designed for connecting to the Internet, and not in autonomy mode. Fully supports Microsoft Office 2010 version.

Quickoffice

This app was launched around the same time as the iPad. The program only supports Google Drive cloud. Until 2012, this list was much broader. The application has good functionality for working with .DOC Word files and tables. The downside is that you have to manually write functions into the cell.

To work with presentations, you can throw figures and images into your document. You can track edits in files and undo them if necessary. This program is free.

Documents to Go

The program supports AirDrop and iCloud clouds. But does not support Microsoft OneDrive cloud. Can easily work with Word files of large amounts of text with the insertion of pictures and complex editing. Equipped with basic functions for working with Office documents and can open PDF extension files.

The program works quickly for making edits, but cannot insert hyperlinks and tables of contents. You won't be able to track edits and comments here. There is no multiple selection function in working with tabular data. This reduces the efficiency of work with calculations. This application has a convenient, beautiful interface. But it is paid.

Citrix ShareFile QuickEdit

This application appeared on the market in the summer of 2010. Equipped with the same functionality as the previous application, but also has the ability to track changes and file protection function. The function of automatic document editing is available, can support sections and insert footnotes.

When you work with tables, you will be able to format cells, combine them and set auto range. There are many functions to edit the document. The program easily opens large files and works with them. It is possible to use the Dropbox cloud. In addition to it, it can function with other cloud storages. You can use the application after purchase.

CloudOn

The structure of the application resembles the architecture of the Office suite. Has extended functional equipment. It can work with files not only on the tablet, but also in the cloud. This is a paid app, but you can test its functionality by downloading the free trial version. The paid package has ample opportunities for editing texts and tabular data.

In 2013, this program won the Tabby Awards awards. The interface is adapted for touch use on mobile gadgets and has a beautiful design. The downside is that you need a high-speed Internet connection to work, otherwise there will be a lag in editing.

iWork

This application was developed by Apple for its gadgets. It is aimed at an audience that does not use the Microsoft suite at home or at work. It has a beautiful design and simple operation. In order to send a file from a gadget to a PC, you need to do several additional steps, which complicates the use of this program.

How to throw a document? Open iCloud.com , then you save the desired iCloud document, do the synchronization and then you can open the file on iPad. When the work with the text is finished, to save it you need to send it by e-mail to the user's address. Then again import the document into the work area.

The iWork suite has three programs: Numbers , Keynote, Pages. They have a wide range of functions. For example, Numbers comes with thirty templates covering a variety of topics. There is support for all versions of Apple tablets. The downside is that it only supports iCloud from all possible cloud storages. It's easy to use: you download it on the AppStore, and then the system will install everything itself. Can be used.

The App Store has long offered both official Microsoft Office tools and third-party programs that open DOC, XLS, PPT, and others. All of these tools have a similar set of basic functions, but differ in terms of unique capabilities and interface usability. In this collection, we present the best-quality iOS tools for working with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files on iPhone and iPad.

Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Microsoft decided not to release some kind of universal office tool and published three full-fledged applications in the App Store: Word for documents, Excel for tables and PowerPoint for presentations. All of them have a very simple and concise interface that allows you to easily manage familiar functions on a small smartphone display. On iPhone, you can choose the original layout for your document or an easy-to-read layout. Almost all of the original tools available in standard PC software versions are available for editing. All three applications are completely free to download.

Google Docs, Sheets, Slides

This trio of programs from Google can be called a good alternative for Microsoft applications. Each tool will allow you to create new documents and edit existing ones, share and edit them at the same time with colleagues, work offline, as well as add comments and respond to replicas of other users. All files are automatically saved after any changes, which means you don't have to worry about sudden failures or disconnections of devices. Additionally, among the advantages are the system of protection with passwords and support for VoiceOver when using Bluetooth keyboards. Downloading also does not require investment.

WPS Office: Text documents, Spreadsheets, Presentations and PDFs - FREE

This application combines presentations, an editor, and spreadsheets. Almost any Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel file can be opened using WPS, including DOC, XLS, PPT, TXT, PDF and many others. Full compatibility allows you to use almost all objects, functions and formatting elements available in desktop versions of programs. Opening and editing documents is possible both from memory and from cloud storages like Google Drive, Dropbox, Box, OneDrive and WebDAV. Files can also be easily shared using AirPlay, AirDrop, DLNA and Wi-Fi. Downloading WPS Office is completely free.

OfficeSuite Free - for Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint & PDF documents

This is another very powerful office "combine" that combines not only tools for working with Word, Excel and PowerPoint, but also a built-in file manager and tools for handling PDF documents. All popular table and presentation formats in use since 97 are supported. Features copy and paste, export and import, auto correct and spell check, editor and view modes, and more. OfficeSuite allows you to unzip the desired file directly from the application without the help of third-party tools, and even send it to print to a connected printer. The basic version of the program is available free of charge, and the extended edition will cost 242 rubles.

Polaris Office - for Microsoft Office Word, PowerPoint, Excel

Polaris Office is a free office application that makes it easy to work with Microsoft Office documents and PDFs on Apple mobile devices. In the program, everyone has access to the functions of viewing and editing formats such as DOC / DOCX, XLS / XLSX, PPT / PPTX, PDF, TXT, HWP. There is integration with various cloud services (OneDrive, Dropbox, Box, WebDAV) and quick exchange of documents through the user's address book or simple messages. There are about 24 templates, 20 2D / 3D diagrams, 173 shapes and more than 300 functions with automatic data calculation. The standard version of the program can be downloaded and used for free, and the updated version with a subscription will cost 746 rubles.

Documents To Go Free - View & edit Microsoft Office files (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), view PDF

It is one of the simplest office applications available in the App Store. It also offers opening and editing of all the most popular formats Word, Excel, PowerPoint, as well as launching PDF documents. Working with files is possible both using cloud services and locally. All text settings, cell filling and image correction tools are present. There are also full rollback and undo functions. There are over 100 useful tools available in total. You can evaluate them all for free.

This concludes the selection of applications. We have noted the most useful and functional programs that have already been tested by thousands of users. Positive ratings and a huge number of positive reviews are the best confirmation of the high level of their quality.

, Excel, and PowerPoint. Free versions of Office for iPhone and Android were also introduced.

On the one hand, what has happened is a huge breakthrough in terms of mastering the device market from a competing company and the appearance in Microsoft's actions of a different business logic (for the first time in the past 2 years). On the other hand, the release of the office suite was at least a year late, and not everyone will use it (we'll talk about the reasons below). Should you upgrade to Microsoft's Office suite if you have an Apple tablet?

What is Office for iPad

Word, Excel and PowerPoint all share the same design as the Office suite for Windows and OS X. There is one package, but there are three applications, and each must be installed separately. The apps are free, but after installation, you find the main catch: the free version only allows you to view the finished documents. You can only create or edit your own files after paying for a subscription to the Office 365 cloud service.

Once installed, you can either store documents on the iPad itself, or sync them with the cloud storage space OneDrive, so that you can then use the same documents on different desktops, mobiles or tablets on which Microsoft Office is installed.Three new applications complement the previously shown OneNote for Mac and iPad (which turned out to be extremely successful for the service of storing notes).

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has promised that Office 365 will be a cross-platform solution and will be available both in the web format and on all existing mobile platforms and desktop operating systems. Quite an ambitious statement considering the presence of competitors (iWork, Box, Google Drive, QuickOffice, etc.).

Now - about the paid subscription. Office 365 Home Premium is priced at $ 99 per year or $ 10 per month. But there is also a cheaper subscription: it is called Office 365 Personal, limited to only one PC or desktop Mac + one tablet. This subscription starts this spring and will cost $ 69.99 per year or $ 6.99 per month.

Also, Microsoft announced its intention to rename Office 365 Home Premium to Office 365 Home (which, apart from new marketing materials, this will give - is unclear).

Discounts or promotional periods so far in Microsoft doesn't promise. The path of converting an office suite from a desktop to a cloud one has also been somewhat delayed; although the serviceOffice 365 already has 3.5 million subscribers.

Pros and cons

Two devices maximum in a budget subscription is, of course, a significant disadvantage. Apple has its own office apps that don't have such a tight limit on the number of connected mobile gadgets to sync, and basic iCloud storage also doesn't cost money for the basic 5GB. Therefore, I personally can refuse them and switch to new items from Microsoft only if I need, for some reason, professional work with tables and calculations in Excel.

Microsoft is better at designing the apps: what we see in terms of the interface in mobile versions of Numbers, Keynote and Pages makes me a little upset. It is still difficult for me to perceive the tablet as a full-fledged tool for working with presentations and spreadsheets with "native" Apple applications. The maximum is typing.

What should Keynote, Numbers, Pages users do?

Most likely nothing. For myself, I personally do not see the need to change the free full-featured versions of Apple's office applications to paid ones (that is, they will be like that if you activate a subscription to be able to not just view, but edit and create documents) analogues from Microsoft.

Yes, the package, which was previously called iWork in the desktop version, is only tied to iCloud. Microsoft uses its own OneDrive, which is more common among Windows users as a cloud drive.

Yes, Microsoft Office Suite has more options for formatting tables. By the way, if I had to work more with Excel, then I would not hesitate to pay for the subscription. So far, I do not keep tables with accounting and statistical calculations, therefore I will not pay for the subscription.

The only noticeable plus: the design of the Microsoft office suite is much better, Apple's is more ascetic, and here tastes and preferences can differ.

Alternative text editors

The trouble with Microsoft is that on the same "field" with them there is also a more convenient and massive Google Drive, which has a native application for iPads and basic text editing capabilities. You can't make a presentation using Google Drive, but you are always welcome to type-edit-send-comment on a document shared with a dozen users. And at the same time without any additional payments.

Plus, if you have to work a lot with snippets, screenshots and parts of web pages, then Office for iPad may be an unexpected rival ... OneNote for Mac / iPad / iPhone, which is also free and does not require any paid subscription. Such is the interesting detail.

In the dry residue

Microsoft has spotted the tablet market outside of Windows Phone / Windows RT / Windows 8 - and that's a good thing. The corporation also lowers the subscription price, and releases the applications themselves for free - and this is also very good.

The only trouble is that all of the above should have been done at least a year ago - and then the chance of penetration outside the corporate sector would have been much higher. And so it is not yet clear whether an individual user, spoiled by the price tag "$ 0.99 / $ 9.99 per year", will switch to a new system for editing texts and tables, and even for an additional $ 69 and more.

Microsoft released Office on iPad as three separate apps, but the suite has one subscription. The ability to create and edit Word, Excel and PowerPoint files opens for those who paid for the Office 365 online service (250 rubles per month or 2,490 rubles per year). "Freemen" are limited to viewing files and displaying them on the big screen. It should be noted that the prefabricated Office Mobile application for iPhone and Android smartphones has recently become free, but in terms of functionality it is not comparable to Office for iPad. (By the way, Office for iPad is pretty much ahead of Apple's iWork suite in terms of functionality).

In terms of its capabilities, Office for iPad is closer to the desktop version; Microsoft probably chose to emphasize this by releasing three separate applications (like on a PC). One should hardly go astray on listing the functions of each. Let's just say that Word for iPad contains all the features that professional creators of texts, articles and posts are used to using. As well as spell checking, footnotes, subscripts and superscripts, changing line spacing, changing page orientation, styles, document templates, etc. Highlighting text is easy and enjoyable thanks to the zoom. Working with the Word tablet (as with the rest of the Office apps for iPad) feels strange: on the one hand, you realize that you are optionally working before going to bed, reclining in bed with a pillow under your back. At the same time, work is progressing quickly - as if you were sitting at a desk staring at a monitor.

Slight discomfort causes the preservation process. It is not instantaneous, and while the corresponding icon hangs on the screen, you have time to think how far away the OneDrive cloud servers are. But this is first; already on the second day of use, addiction begins. By the way, Office apps for iPad also work in airplane mode (that is, without internet access). Files can be saved to the device; however, by default they are saved in the cloud.

Word for iPad doesn't break file formatting (even complex ones) or choke on large documents - even those with several hundred pages (although the initial download takes a long time). We will also mention the ability to conveniently throw documents into the mail or give access to them in the cloud. True, convenience is combined with restrictions: Microsoft seems to recognize the fact that there are other file formats (import is present), but does not allow export to them.

Most of the above applies to Excel with PowerPoint as well. They also have convenient document sharing and an Office ribbon interface (to which we all got used to for so long). And there is also an excess of the functionality we need. It is not difficult to make a financial report with formulas in Excel. As in the case of Word, the feeling of the application is perceived not only as a “transport” alternative to a desktop program, but also as a “sofa” one. That is, you can easily choose to work with Office on iPad, even when you are at home and desktop nearby. Needless to say, the number of chart types and math functions is comparable to that available in Office for PC? A specific feature of Excel for iPad is its separate keyboard for entering formulas, which contains many mathematical and logical symbols.

In PowerPoint, attention is drawn to the laser pointer designed for presentations. PP is the only Office app for iPad in which we did not find one familiar feature: fine-grained millimeter adjustment of the position of pictures and text boxes on slides.

Microsoft Office c, relatively recently, became available for iOS, namely for Apple iPad tablets. The functionality of the applications is similar to the PC versions.

Hello everyone, lovers and owners of a tablet computer from Apple - iPad (iOS). Today we will talk about office programs, namely the applications available within the office suite from Microsoft - Office (Office).

I will also tell you where you can get Microsoft Office for iPad (office) and for iOS in general. Office for iOS (office) iPad, in fact, is a very useful thing, it can be used to open office documents such as: Word files, Excel documents and PowerPoint presentations. Well, now more specifically about each proposed tool. Each application has a short description, as well as links to download the iOS program from the office suite from the App Store.

Word

PowerPoint

The program for creating simple and at the same time beautiful and functional presentations is included in the iOS office package. I bet you've met this tool before. So let's quickly go over all the features of this iPad app.:
