Windows 10 pro bootable USB stick

The new version of Windows, which is known to be the last, has received a number of advantages over its predecessors. It has a new functionality, it became more convenient to work with it and it just became more beautiful. However, as you know, to install Windows 10 you need the Internet and a special bootloader, but not everyone can afford to download several gigabytes (about 8) of data. This is why you can create a bootable USB flash drive or bootable disk with Windows 10 so that you have the files with you at all times.

UltraISO is a program for working with virtual drives, disks and images. The program has a very extensive functionality, and it is rightfully considered one of the best in its field. In it, we will make our bootable Windows 10 USB flash drive.

How to create a bootable Windows 10 USB stick or disk in UltraISO

To create a bootable USB flash drive or Windows 10 disk, you first need to download the Media Creation Tool.

Now let's run what we just downloaded and follow the installer's guide. In each new window, click "Next".

After that, you must select "Create installation media for another computer" and click the "Next" button again.

In the next window, select the architecture and language of your future operating system. If nothing can be changed, then simply uncheck the box next to "Use the recommended settings for this computer"

After that, specify the path for your ISO file and click "Save".

This will start downloading Windows 10 and saving it to an ISO file. You just have to wait for all the files to download.

Now, after Windows 10 has successfully booted and saved to the ISO file, we need to open the downloaded file in the UltraISO program.

After that, select the "Boot" menu item and click on "Write hard disk image" to create a bootable USB flash drive.

Select your medium in the window that appears (1) and click write (2). Agree with everything that pops up and after that just wait for the recording to complete. During recording, the error "You need to have administrator rights" may pop up. In this case, you need to view the following article:

If you want to create a bootable Windows 10 disc, then instead of "Burn hard disk image" you must select "Burn CD image" on the toolbar.

In the window that appears, select the desired drive (1) and click "Burn" (2). After that, we wait for the recording to complete.

Of course, in addition to creating a bootable Windows 10 USB flash drive, you can also create a Windows 7 bootable USB flash drive, which you can read about in the article at the link below:

It is with such simple actions that we can create a bootable disk or a bootable USB flash drive for Windows 10. Microsoft understood that not everyone will have access to the Internet, and specifically provided for the creation of an ISO image, so this is quite simple to do.

This article describes in detail how Windows 10 is installed from a USB flash drive. A flash drive means not only a removable flash drive, but also a DVD drive, but in view of the release of CDs from everyday life, we will focus on a USB flash drive.

At the end of the instructions, we consider typical problems that the user will likely encounter at the stage of creating a bootable drive and installing the operating system from it through the boot menu.

Note that when using the licensed edition of Windows 10, which was obtained during the free update, before performing a clean installation of the "dozens", it is imperative to upgrade from the old system to Windows 10, and only then reinstall the operating system.

Such a maneuver is necessary so that the license of the previous OS is "captured" and tied to your computer and Microsoft account, so that after reinstalling Windows 10, it can be automatically activated when you first connect to the global network. It became possible thanks to the release of a large-scale update package for the top ten, released in early August 2016.

In this regard, some prompts to activate or perform operations to skip key entry during the installation of the operating system may be invalid, but are marked just in case.

The first step in preparing to reinstall the system is to create a bootable digital media (in this case, a USB flash drive) with the distribution kit (compressed operating system installation files). To carry out the action, we will use the official application from Microsoft, which can be downloaded at https://www.microsoft.com/ru-ru/software-download/windows10.

Please note that the bitness of the loaded utility must match the bitness of the installed edition of Windows 10. Information about the current OS edition can be obtained from the properties of My Computer.

When the application is loaded, click on the icon "Create an installation drive for another computer", then select the interface language of the "tens" and its version (choose the one for which you have a license, because when you switch to a different OS edition, the license is not transferred). This does not apply to the bit depth, when switching from x64 to x86 and vice versa, the license is retained.

Then we connect the drive to a free USB port, mark the "USB flash memory device" checkbox and wait for the installation files to be downloaded to the computer and copied to the media.

This official utility from Microsoft will allow you to get a USB flash drive with the original image of Windows 10. At the same time, you will be offered to download the distribution kit of the same version of the OS to which you can update on the current computer (in the field with the recommended operating system, the mark will be on by default).

Please note that after updating the application, it does not offer to select the edition of Windows 10 (Pro, Home). This is done during the installation process.

If you have an ISO image that it is advisable to store on your hard drive, you can create a flash drive at any time to reinstall the system using any convenient method:

  • by simply deploying the image to portable digital media, if you are using a computer with UEFI, but the flash drive must be formatted in FAT32 in advance;
  • using the command line;
  • using specialized applications (Rufus, UltraISO).

For more information on methods for preparing a flash drive, see the adjacent article in the section.

Before installation

The most important thing newbies forget before formatting the system partition before copying the files of the new operating system to it is saving the files stored on it. All data from the desktop, the Downloads and My Documents catalogs should be copied / moved to another logical or physical disk.

We load the computer from a USB flash drive. There are two ways to go here:

  • Visit BIOS / UEFI, find the menu or options that are responsible for the priority of boot devices and install the USB device that contains the installation files (ideally, other USB devices should be disabled) in the first place. But after the first reboot of the computer (it will be carried out automatically during the OS reinstallation process), the priority will have to be changed back in order to allow the computer to boot from the hard disk and continue the installation of Windows 10. How to enter the BIOS and where to find the boot menu in it, look in the manual for laptop or motherboard, or on the Internet.
  • Use the function of quick access to the boot-menu and boot from any drive without changing the BIOS settings.

After that, an inscription will appear on a black background, requiring you to click on any key on the keyboard. We press any button and wait for the installer to appear.

Directly installing Windows 10

In the first window of the installer, you must select the version of the language to be installed from the list of supported packages, as well as the time format and input method. In principle, the default language should be Russian.

In the next interface, click "Install".

Further windows in different situations (using an outdated image, for example, or the state of the license), the windows may differ. In one case, a dialog for selecting the release of "tens" may appear, but most likely, if you downloaded a new ISO file, one of the following will appear:

  • If there is a key for "ten", it must be entered in the text form that appears;
  • When there is no license key, for example, we became the owner of a free update to Windows 10, we skip this action by clicking “No key” or “Skip”. In this case, the system is installed, but will not be activated, which will entail the appearance of offers to purchase a key and impose some restrictions on the OS functionality.
  • When upgrading to “ten” without first installing it in order to transfer the license key to your computer (the key will be tied to a unique hardware ID and Microsoft account, if any). Here you should refuse to perform the following steps, upgrade from Windows 7-8, and only then take the opportunity to perform a clean installation of the new operating system.

Then we will get acquainted with the new license agreement, where you should pay attention to the points about the collection of data about the user for their subsequent processing and the rest, regarding confidentiality and data protection. Click "Next" if you agree with all the points.

We decide on the installation option:

  1. An update is actually the same as an update in case of moving to Windows 10 from older versions of the OS - in this case, all system files along with programs, settings for them and user data will be copied to the Windows.old directory. The process is similar to a regular update, so we will not consider it.
  2. Custom installation - will allow you to install a new operating system, deleting all user and system files and will allow you to change the logical structure of the drive. We will stop at this option, because it is more expedient.

By clicking on the option of custom installation (for advanced users), we get to the interface for selecting the future system volume with the ability to change the disk structure (repartition).

You should not be alarmed here if the number of disks is slightly more than you are used to seeing in Explorer or the file manager. We will briefly consider the proposed options for action, their implications and use cases.

  1. If the operating system has already been installed (a purchased computer without an OS is used, which is practically impossible to encounter now), in addition to the partitions created by the user, several additional volumes, hundreds of megabytes in size, as well as disks reserved by the system will be shown. It is better not to touch these partitions unknown for a beginner: one of them stores the bootloader, the second contains a copy of the "dozen", which allows you to reset the OS to its original state.
  2. We select the current system partition or volume to which the Windows 10 installation files should be copied. To format it (clear the table of contents in order to get rid of all files), select the disk and call the "Format" command by clicking on the corresponding button. Then click on the "Next" icon in order to continue the installation without changing the structure of the logical volumes. If there is another version of Windows on the disk that will be the system one (it doesn't matter if it was a 7 or XP), you should delete the system volume and create it anew in the unallocated area to automatically form missing volumes with a boot loader or in the future to perform a tens reset ...
  3. If you choose the option without formatting and deleting, the operating system will be installed on the current system partition, provided there is the necessary free space on it. The old OS will completely fit into the Windows.old directory, as discussed above, thus preserving all user files.
  4. If Windows 10 uses a separate drive, for example, an SSD, or there is no important data on it, you can delete all partitions, format the disk, and then recreate its structure (or format each partition separately) and select the desired volume as the system ...
  5. By choosing a partition that does not have an operating system, you can install two versions of Windows on your computer, which will work properly, and a window will appear to select them during computer startup. In this case, all user data will be saved.

It may happen that when you select a volume to install Windows 10 on it, a window appears with information that it is impossible to install the operating system on the selected partition, or something like that. In this case, you will have to convert the partitions from MBR to a new one - GPT. There is a separate instruction to solve this problem, and there is no point in repeating it.

After we have decided on the option and solved the problem, click "Next". As a result, the installer will start the process of copying files to the system disk, and then restart the computer.

If an inscription appears with a proposal to click on any key, this should not be done. The next time you restart your PC, you will have to go into the BIOS and change the priority of the boot devices, selecting the HDD with the new operating system first. If you wish, you can restart the computer using Reset and perform the proposed actions now, but it is not recommended to interrupt the system operation in this way.

After that, the installer will prepare files for installing the operating system, as well as configure the system components. At this point, the screen may flicker and the computer may restart. No action should be taken in such cases, just wait.

Upon completion of unpacking system files and other operations with them, you will be prompted to connect to the Internet via a radio interface using WiFi technology. If you have and then use a Microsoft account, it is recommended to connect, otherwise it is optional.

Next, we carry out the initial configuration of Windows 10. To use the proposed configuration, click "Use standard parameters", which is strongly discouraged. To carry out all the settings manually, click "Settings".

How to make the correct settings is also described in one of the articles, but you can safely turn off most of the parameters, nothing terrible will happen in this case. Almost all of them are responsible for Windows 10's privacy and user tracking. If you have any questions or doubts, it is better not to touch the option.

After that, the installer will offer to log in with an existing Microsoft account or add and configure a local account on the current computer. If there is no Internet connection yet or it is not active, you can use only a local account. This will not affect the status of the license in any way.

Here is the final stage - configuration and installation of classic applications and preparation of the top ten for the first start. As a rule, the process takes no more than or about 10 minutes, but with old PCs it can take up to half an hour. Make sure that during this time period the computer's power supply is stable and that nothing interrupts its operation.

After a while, the login animation will appear and the desktop will load.

Additional information for beginners

Once Windows 10 has finished installing, you should make sure that the drivers for all devices are up to date. Although the "ten" copes with their installation, the automation of the process is far from ideal, which is associated with many problems: the latest driver version is not installed, the wrong product is installed, the OS uses an unofficial version of the driver, the device is not detected or is working incorrectly, and etc.

First of all, you should get drivers for the motherboard, chipset and video card by downloading them from official resources. You should not use any driver packs. For laptops, you can visit the support site and download all the software you need; computer owners will have a trickier experience. If you are having trouble updating the software for your video adapter, use the Display Driver Uninstaller.

If everything is in order, we install the necessary software, customize the system for ourselves and create an image for its recovery, for example, using True Image, although Windows 10 also offers a simple tool for this. Thus, installing Windows 10 from a flash drive next time will turn into a simple deployment of the created image to the system partition.

Hello dear visitors. In this tutorial, I will show you how to install the latest Windows 10 on your computer or laptop. I'm glad you came to this page and give me the right to teach you how to install the Top Ten on your computer. Let's start!

We will install Windows 10 from a USB stickbecause it is much more convenient and faster than using classic DVDs. Using an installation USB flash drive with Windows, we will be able to install the system on both computers and laptops and netbooks.

What do you need to do to install Windows 10 from a USB flash drive?

Creating a bootable USB drive

First of all, prepare an 8 gigabyte USB stick and move ALL important files to other drives. Then download the UltraISO program from the official site. We will use it to record the system. We also need a Windows 10 image, preferably in ISO format. You can also download it from the Internet.

Download UltraISO and launch it.

The program is paid, but fortunately Trial period will allow you to use it for free for 30 days. To install Windows 10 from a flash drive, we need UltraISO only once.

When launching UltraISO, click the Trial period button.

The USB stick should already be inserted into the computer.

Now in the UltraISO program, click the File - Open menu.

In the window that opens, indicate where the image with Windows 10 is on the computer and click Open.

The image files were opened successfully. Now we press the menu - Burn hard disk image.

In the window that opens, it is important to make sure that the USB flash drive we need is selected in the Disk Drive item. If it is not, then select it manually from the drop-down list. There is nothing more to change. Click the Burn button to start creating a bootable USB flash drive.

Writing Windows 10 to a USB flash drive usually takes 10 minutes. When finished, close all unnecessary windows and let's proceed to the next step.

Install and BIOS boot from a USB flash drive

Starting to install the system, we need to go to BIOS and put the boot from the USB flash drive in the first place. We turn on the computer or restart it if it is already on. To enter the BIOS, we immediately start pressing the DELETE or F2 key (depending on motherboard)... We press the desired key for a few seconds, until we see the BIOS itself. It looks like this:

We can navigate through this program using the arrows and the Enter button on the keyboard.

Go to the BOOT tab and find the Hard Disk Drives item there. We open it.

We get up on the first point and press Enter.

In the window that opens, select your USB flash drive and now it will be in the first place. Excellent!

Press the ESC key to return to the previous window. Now we select the first item Boot Device Priority.

We go to the first item and press Enter.

Select the flash drive again and now it is in the priority of downloads in the first place.

Excellent! Now the computer will boot from the USB stick. To save the changes made, press the F10 key and press Enter.

The computer restarts ...

It is worth saying that in some BIOSes the interface is slightly different. In this case, you will have to look for similar buttons.

Installing Windows 10 from a USB flash drive

If we did everything correctly, then after restarting the computer, reading data from the flash drive will begin. This is indicated by the following Windows icon:

The start of the installation is indicated by a window in which we will need to select the system language, parameters and keyboard layout. We leave Russian everywhere and click Next.

In the next window, click the Install button, which is located in the middle of the screen.

In the next step, we need to choose the type of installation. We select the second item " Custom: Windows installation only". Just what we need.

Now is a very important moment! We need to select the drive to which we need installWindows 10 ... The disk on which the system was previously installed has type System... If you still have other disks, then it is better not to install the system on them, so as not to lose important data.

As for the disk on which the system has already been installed, it is better to format it, that is, delete old programs, Windows and other files. To do this, you need to specify the disk and select the Format item.

You can, of course, not format the disk, but in this case, the previous files from the system disk will be placed in a new folder called WINDOWS.OLD.

I usually format the disk to remove all the junk accumulated on the old system!

Regardless of the choice you made, indicate the installation disk and click Next.

This is the main window where Windows 10 is installed in five steps. Here the files are copied and installed, that is, the process of writing the system to our computer takes place. You will have to wait 15 minutes.

Attention is an important point! When you see that the 5 steps are completed and after a few seconds the computer restarts, be ready to remove the USB flash drive from the computer.

The computer starts to reboot, and we immediately take out the USB flash drive! If this is not done, then installing Windows 10 can start over.

Okay. The system is almost ready to go. There are some settings left to do. After rebooting, we will be asked to connect to our wireless network. Note, however, that you can skip this step. For this there is a link below " Skip this step".

I connected to WI-FI, so at this step, updates are still downloaded and installed.

Finally, we need to select the type of computer. Of course, we select the item " This computer belongs to me".

Then we enter the username and password from the Microsoft account, if any. Or just press " Skip this step".

We give the name of the account and, if necessary, create a password for it.

Excellent! So we figured it out how to install Windows 10 from a flash drive and configure it before the first launch.

RESULTS

Let's summarize briefly. So, to install Windows 10 from a USB flash drive, we need to complete the following tasks:

1. Create a bootable USB drive
2. Put in BIOS boot from a USB flash drive
3. Install the system from a USB flash drive

That's basically all. This concludes my lesson, I thank you for your attention and look forward to your comments.

Until a few years ago, it was easier to install Windows directly from a CD. But this is not always possible, now not every computer (and even more so a laptop) has a DVD drive. With the development of high-speed Internet and modern technologies (increasing the volume and speed of access to flash memory) CD / DVD discs are gradually losing their relevance.

Modern ultrabooks, notebooks and netbooks are rarely equipped with a floppy drive and usually offer it as an option. The disk was replaced by a modern and convenient flash drive. Modern models of mobile devices have long supported such a function as installing Windows from a bootable USB flash drive. To do this, you need to write a bootable ISO image to it, and then this flash drive can be used on a laptop or PC.

Which version of Windows 10 should I choose to burn the installation flash drive?

If your laptop or computer (processor, motherboard) supports 64-bit architecture and has at least 4 GB of RAM installed, Windows 10 64-bit is the best choice. Otherwise 32-bit version.

The main and significant difference, Windows 10 x64 supports more than 3.2 GB of RAM (up to 256 GB at the moment). Windows 10 x86 - accordingly "sees" only 3.2 Gb and less.

Download legally and free Windows 10 (ISO image) to create a bootable USB flash drive.

On the official Microsoft website (Microsoft Store) you can download a free image of the Windows 10 32-bit and 64-bit operating system in ISO format. After downloading, you can use a 30-day trial period to evaluate the capabilities of the new OS. At the end of this period, you will need to enter a license key to activate Windows 10.

How to download Windows 10 ISO image (32-bit, 64-bit) from Microsoft official website:

You can use the Windows USB Download Tool or Media Creation Tool to write the image to a USB flash drive. MediaCreationTool is a utility created specifically for writing Windows 10 images to a bootable USB flash drive. USB Download Tool - Compatible with earlier OS versions.

Media Creation Tool is a utility for burning the installation USB disk with Windows 10 Pro (x86, x32).

This is a more recent version of bootable media creation software, created specifically for Windows 10. It fixes many bugs and simplifies the process of writing an OS image to a flash drive.

  6. Bootable USB ready! You can start installing Windows 10 both from under Windows, and boot directly from a USB flash drive (you need to select the priority of booting from USB in BIOS).

There are some peculiarities of writing 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows 10 to a USB flash drive. In some cases, when recording a 64-bit image on a 32-bit version of Windows 10 (7, 8), an error may occur when creating a boot sector.

At the last stage of creation, the following message appears: “Files copied successfully. However, we were unable to run bootsect to make the USB device bootable. If you need assistance with bootsect, please click the "Online Hlep" link above for more information. "

How to fix the bootsect error, I'll tell you below.

Bootsect.exe error while writing bootable USB flash drive Windows 10 64-bit.

To successfully create a bootable USB flash drive for 64 bit Windows 10 in a 32 bit environment, you need to download and copy the bootsect.exe file to the Windows USB Download Tool folder. Course of action:

  1. Open the previously downloaded Windows 10 ISO image with some archiver (WinRAR) or in a file manager (Total Commander).

  • Microsoft Windows 10 (x86, x64);
  • Microsoft Windows 8.1 (x86, x64);
  • Microsoft Windows 8 (x86, x64);
  • Microsoft Windows 7 (x86, x64).

How to make a bootable USB flash drive Windows 10 (7, 8) in UltraISO.

One of the most optimal solutions to this issue is to use the UltraISO program. It opens up ample opportunities for the user:

  • Editing existing disk images;
  • Create virtual disks on your computer or burn disk images.

The only drawback of this program is that it is paid. But this issue can also be solved - at this link https://ezbsystems.com/ultraiso/ you can download a free demo version, which you can use for a certain period of time (believe me, in order to rewrite Windows from disk to USB flash drive demo the version will be quite enough, you are unlikely to constantly do this).

The subsequent sequence of actions will look like this:

  1. In order to write a bootable ISO image with Windows 10 to a USB flash drive, you will first need to open this ISO image. It will be enough to select the "File" menu in UltraISO and click on the corresponding tab.
  2. In the window that appears to select a file, you need to find a bootable ISO file with Windows 10, and confirm your choice, after which the contents of the bootable ISO image can be seen in the UltraISO program window.
  3. It is necessary to insert the flash drive into the USB port and open the Boot menu in the program. We select the option "Burn hard disk image".
  4. As a result, a window will appear for writing a bootable ISO image to a USB flash drive. In principle, no further action is required. The only thing - you will need to make sure that the required flash drive is selected in the “Disk Drive” drop-down menu, in order to avoid an unpleasant surprise.
  5. Click on the command "Write".
  6. The next step, a warning will appear that due to the recording of the bootable ISO image, all information previously stored on the USB flash drive will be deleted. In order to continue, you will need to click on the "Yes" button.
  7. After confirmation is received, the UltraISO program will automatically write the bootable ISO image to the USB flash drive.
  8. Upon completion of this process, you can start installing Windows 10 using the resulting bootable USB flash drive.

In case, when installing Windows 10 from a USB flash drive, it says - "."

Agree, there is nothing complicated about it. The most important thing is to have the necessary software always at hand and to follow the recommendations set forth unswervingly!

Hello. Today in the article I will tell you how to make a bootable USB flash drive with Windows 10. I will not give many examples, since there are quite a few of them, I will dwell on a couple or three options that I use myself and recommend to others.

The creation of a bootable USB flash drive with Windows 10 is done so that in the future the created image of the operating system will be used as an installation version of the OS itself on the computer. Previously, DVDs and CDs were used for this. But we all see that technologies do not stand still and the age of disks is already coming to its logical end.

The USB image can be produced both by internal applications of the operating system and by third-party software.

What is needed for this:

  • Windows 10 distribution
  • USB flash drive with a volume of at least 4 Gigabytes
  • Specialized software

how make an image of a bootable USB flash drive Windows 10

For example UltraISO. I will not deny that this is one of my favorites due to its effectiveness and simplicity. Moreover UltraISO suitable for PCs with BIOS (Basic Input / Output System) and UEFI (Extensible Firmware Interface)... The utility is paid, but do not be afraid, since a 30-day period is also suitable for us.

  • Downloading the Russian version of UltraISO from the home page
  • Install on your computer
  • We launch in the trial period

In the open window, perform actions:

  • In the top menu, go to the "File" tab
  • Then "Open", where we find the ISO image
  • Next, click on "Boot" -\u003e "Burn hard disk image"
  • In Disk Drive, set the address to the external drive
  • We produce the format strictly in FAT32
  • Click on the button "Write"

After a while, the USB image will be ready.

Media Creation Tool

Media Creation Tool is an application with which you can record a licensed image of the Windows 10 operating system without a key from the Microsoft office. This product will download the licensed version of Windows 10 from the Microsoft server and write to the USB flash drive.

How to write to Windows 10 UEFI USB stick

Here you can and should use the so-called internal means of the OS.

At the end of the article, I would like to highlight a few more softwares that will help to cope with this task:

  • WinToFlash
  • Rufus
  • WinToBootic
  • UNetBootin

What methods do you use? Write in the comments. Thanks!
