Skyrim launcher does not see files. Technical problems of the Skyrim game: the launcher does not see the files, the console does not work. Ways to solve Skyrim does not see the game

Despite the impressive capabilities of the Skyrim game, I want to significantly expand these very gaming capabilities.

There are things like mods especially for this. They provide new opportunities and transform the game into something completely new. For those who have already passed Skyrim itself far and wide - that's it.

However, even a beginner should download the mod.

At least to improve the graphics, the game is no longer new. But there are also official add-ons required for installation. And now, everything seems to be fine, the mod of interest has been found, downloaded, it seems even without viruses, unpacked as described on the site, and Skyrim does not change a bit. Don't rush to give up on mods. Just to use them, you need to configure the game itself.

To configure mods in the game, you need to go to the game launcher. In the menu, press the files button. Here you can see a list of all available add-ons. If the mod is working and really installed correctly, it will be displayed in this menu. The simplest reason for the add-on not working is the absence of a check mark in this menu. Remember that in front of the add-on that you want to run, you need to check the box, otherwise the program will consider that you do not need to run the mod. The order in which the add-ons are loaded is also very important. It can be viewed in the same "Files" menu.

The add-ons are loaded in the same order as those placed in the list (reading from top to bottom). At the very top, there must be three official Dragonborn add-ons, Guardian of the Dawn and Fire of the Hearth. Next, it is best to install add-ons to improve textures. After the location of other mods does not really matter, however, there are additions that depend on other additions. In this case, the site should provide a list in what order they should be. Never ignore this kind of message.

The mod itself must include several folders and a file with the esp extension. That is, these three letters follow the file name. It is the file with this extension that serves as an activator for the add-on itself. If this file is missing, skyrim launcher does not see add-on files. For the mod to work correctly, ALL files that you downloaded must be transferred to the Data folder. It is located in the game folder. It is very important that there are no folders with Russian letters on the path to the game folder - they are often misread by the program and then it cannot find anything. In general, it is not recommended to call folders in Cyrillic. For any program, it is very difficult to find a file following Russian letters, so it is always better to name folders in English, or at least a trans lite.

There may also be a problem when the "Files" button is inactive and it is impossible to enter the add-ons menu. This problem can occur in two cases - a bad pirated build of the game, or deleting files from the game folder. If earlier this button was active, then even if it is not possible to fix the problem, simply reinstall the game and first moved all the save to another location. Saves are stored on drive C / Users / Username / My Documents / My Games / Skyrim.

Just do not try to rename the folders with Russian-language names on the C drive. They are stored in computer memory under different names.

However, reinstalling the game is optional. First you need to try to fix the problem

In the same folder where the save is stored, open a file called SkyrimPrefs.ini in notepad. In the last line, add bEnableFileSelection \u003d 1. If the skyrim launcher does not see the files and after that, you should reinstall the game. If even after reinstalling the problem persists, find another repack, this one may not be fully working.

Skyrim is a game that occupies a large place in the universe of the Elder Scrolls. It is currently the last game in the series, incorporating many of the ideas, developments and experience of the developers since the days of TES: Arena. However, this does not save her from various annoying errors and bugs that players often have to cope with on their own. One of these errors is the unstable operation of the launcher, which sometimes prevents entering the settings menu or loading add-ons (if the launcher does not see the files and Skyrim starts without mods), as well as the launch of the game itself. Moreover, this can happen not only on pirated versions: the owners of licensed copies are also not immune from such situations. There are several ways to fix these errors.

Restarting Steam

As you know, the Steam client works closely with every game purchased through this service, exercising control over the license, player statistics, updates, etc. TES V is no exception, and sometimes this interaction leads to the fact that the Skyrim launcher "does not see the modification files and does not let them into the settings, and sometimes the game does not start, displaying the item" Install "instead of" Game "in the main menu. Clicking on it usually does not lead to anything, and the game still does not start. The problem is solved by a banal restart of the Steam client, logging out of the account and completely disconnecting from the network.

Launching the game directly / through a third-party launcher

The previous method, unfortunately, does not always work. Therefore, in cases where the Skyrim Launcher does not see the files and settings, you can launch the game directly from the skyrim.exe file. True, this method is only suitable for those who play without mods. Players who do not think of a game without add-ons will have to use third-party programs (WryeBash, Nexus Mod Manager).

Editing game files

This method is usually used when there are no problems with starting the game, but there are addons. This is the fault of the SkyrimPrefs.ini file, which "lost" the "bEnableFileSelection \u003d 1" configuration parameter, which is in the block. To prevent the situation from repeating itself, the game must be prohibited from making changes to this file by setting the "Read-only" attribute on it. You can find the file you need in the game save folder.

It will also be useful to perform certain manipulations with the registry, launching which (using the hotkeys Win + R and the "regedit" command), open the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE section and follow the path SOFTWARE \\ Wow6432Node \\ Bethesda Softworks \\ Skyrim. By right-clicking on the Installed Path column, select "Change" in the context menu, and then in the "Value" field enter the path in the installed game.

It should be remembered that the Windows Registry Editor must be handled carefully, strictly following the instructions. Rough handling can cause Windows to malfunction or even crash.

Restoring default settings

The method is effective, but it is used quite rarely - in cases when nothing helps at all. Most often, this problem is created by the users themselves, for one reason or another, copying the folder with ready-made saves from external sources, at the same time replacing the game settings files. This is followed by the launch of "Skyrim", and the launcher does not see the game files at all. There is a compatibility problem. The solution is to delete all configuration files from the folder and then re-launch the Skyrim launcher, which will automatically create them again.

Many fans of the Skyrim game sooner or later turn to various custom modifications that make certain changes to the original gameplay. At the same time, beginners often face certain difficulties, the most important of which are the activation of add-ons in the game launch environment, as well as working with the in-game console, which is sometimes crucial for some mods.

Activating mods in the launcher

If a situation arises in which the Skyrim launcher does not see the add-on files, you can turn to several ways to solve this problem.

The first way is to edit the configuration file.

The SkyrimPrefs.ini file located in the Windows document storage folder is responsible for displaying game archives in the launcher (by default, My Documents \\ My Games \\ Skyrim \\ is used, but the paths may vary depending on the individual user settings).

Usually this method works flawlessly, but sometimes this is not enough: the launcher still does not see the files and Skyrim, accordingly, does not register the mod. In this case, editing the registry key will help.

In Win 7, the registry editor is opened through the "Run" item located in the "Start" menu. In Win 8 and older, it is easier to use the Win + R combination.

In the line that opens, enter regedit, click OK, and then in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / SOFTWARE / Wow6432Node / Bethesda Softworks / Skyrim / branch find the Installed Path key and replace the erroneous parameter of this key with the path to the current directory of the installed game. After these manipulations, the launcher will display all game archives and allow you to activate the add-ons.

Using an alternative launcher

Another way to activate mods is to use third-party programs that not only manage the launch of the game and control the installed add-ons, but also have wider and more flexible functionality. The most famous of them are Nexus Mod Manager and Mod Organizer.

Interaction with the console

It is not uncommon for console commands to help both when using various add-ons (for example, getting items from a mod), and when circumventing many game errors and bugs (reloading a looped quest, for example). But for many users of the Russian localization of Skyrim, entering console commands in English is initially unavailable.

How do I change the language in the console? Skyrim accepts two ways:

  1. Change the default keyboard layout from Russian to English. For obvious reasons, it is not suitable for everyone.
  2. Editing the Skyrim.ini file located in the default or user-defined document storage folder. In the file, replace sConsole \u003d RUSSIAN with sConsole \u003d ENGLISH below the line, and after saving the changes apply the "Read-only" attribute to the file.

The next time you start the game, the player will be able to enter console commands in English.

The universe of The Elder Scrolls conquered players not only with its rich history, carefully crafted world, colorful characters, but also with the ability to customize the game completely for themselves. If you wish, you can make the hero freeze while traveling through the snowy lands of Skyrim, so that he needs food and water, and rest. Or maybe someone just wants to cut across the tundra on a Zaporozhets ... There are fashion for every taste and color. But sometimes the Skyrim launcher doesn't see fashion. And it becomes very annoying, because other players can improve the game ... Why does the launcher not see the mod for Skyrim and how to fix this problem?

Possible variants of the problem

There are 2 types of the problem with the inability to connect mods for the game. Option one: all labels are active in the launcher except for the "Files" tab itself; in this case, you will not be able to click on it. Accordingly, it will not be possible to connect any modifications to the game. It looks like this.

Another option is also possible, the "Files" tab works, but at the same time the "Skyrim" launcher does not see the mod, the window that has opened in this case is simply empty or only standard add-ons are displayed in it.

It is quite possible to solve these problems.

If the Files tab is off

If the "Files" tab is inactive and you cannot even see which mods can be connected, then the problem is in the SkyrimPrefs.ini folder. For the launcher to work correctly and the ability to connect mods, you need to open this document in a notepad or other text editor, and then add a line in the Launcher section.

bEnableFileSelection \u003d 1

How can I find this file? During the standard installation of the game, the file must be located in the system drive (most often it is the C: \\ drive), in the My Documents folder in My Games \\ Skyrim \\.

If the launcher doesn't see the fashion

In this situation, 2 reasons are possible and, accordingly, 2 options for solving the problem.

Option 1. If the game sees standard add-ons, but not downloaded from external resources, check that the mods are installed correctly. Mods must be installed in the Data folder, which is located in the root directory of the game. In this case, the downloaded files must be unpacked (if they were in the archive). If there is a Data folder in the folder with the downloaded mod, then you need to drop it into the folder with Skyrim (where there is a Data folder with subsequent merging).

If the archive contains folders with meshes and textures, as well as files with the esp and bsa extensions, then the contents of such an archive must be extracted into the Data folder of the game.

Perhaps it is the correct installation of mods that will allow Skyrim to see mods.

Option 2. It is possible that the game does not see mods at all. In this case, there was some kind of error in the combination of the registry and the file system. For example, the appearance of such a problem is possible if you renamed the game folder, moved it, or just some kind of failure occurred in the registry. In this case, you need to open the registry with the Windows + r command (or Run Start) write the word regedit.

The following path must be found:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / SOFTWARE / Bethesda Softworks / Skyrim /

In the Installed Path line, the value of the path to Skyrim is most likely incorrect. Perhaps the Skyrim launcher doesn't see fashion for this reason. You need to specify the correct path to the game and this problem will be solved.

Whatever the problem with Skyrim modifications, it can be solved. We hope that the methods described in this article helped to get rid of the problem when the Skyrim launcher does not see the fashion.
