A move that Xiaomi uses on almost all models is to place the SIM tray on the side of the phone. The tray is removed using a special key included in the kit. Instead of one of the SIM cards, you can put a memory card, which, of course, is not so convenient.

There is a fingerprint scanner on the back cover. It works flawlessly and accurately.

The phone is the perfect size. With a 5.5-inch display, it fits perfectly in the palm of an adult and is large enough to watch videos, play games or surf the net. Expansion of the screen, hidden under the protective glass, is also decent - 1920x1080.

Performance

One of the few differences between the presented smartphone is Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 under the cover. A sufficiently powerful and quite modern eight-core processor can easily cope with the tasks set by the software.

The model is presented in two versions of RAM and internal memory - 4 GB + 64 GB and 3 GB + 32 GB.

Wi-Fi willingly works in the 5 GHz band, but the IEEE 802.11ac standard is not familiar to it, as is the CDMA network. The device quickly detects satellites even in the absence of the Internet, which will ensure a good quality of work in the navigator mode. The model is equipped with an IR port, which will be useful for controlling home appliances.

Sound

The Note 4x has no problems with sounds. The speaker is loud enough, and the microphone transmits sound cleanly and without interference. So you hear perfectly, and you are heard in the same way. The sound quality of the headphones is excellent.

operating system

The phone runs MIUI 8.2, which is undoubtedly another plus. This version of the software is developed on the basis of Android 6.0.1, is stable and fast, equipped with Google services and supports many languages \u200b\u200b(even not very common).

Camera

The 4X is equipped with a fairly sensitive 13MP main camera. Sony's module will make it easy to take decent photos and record videos. This will be sufficient for everyday use.

The interface allows you to configure the camera parameters, both in manual and automatic modes. The front camera is weaker, only 5 megapixels, but its tasks are different.

Battery

Redmi Note 4X has excellent battery life. Manufacturers guarantee 18 hours of video playback on a single charge. For this, a non-removable 4100 mAh battery is located in the case.

Of course, it will be difficult to achieve such long-term operation with the operation of several applications, but in the standard mode it is quite possible to count on 2-day work without recharging.

Outcome

Redmi Note 4X as a whole is a well-made, easy-to-use, balanced device that meets the daily needs of the user. It differs little from its brothers in the line, but meanwhile, with its availability, it can compete with budget models of other famous smartphone manufacturers.

Xiaomi has achieved worldwide fame and recognition for quality and inexpensive products. By adhering to strict rules, the company easily competes with more established smartphone manufacturers. Xiaomi will continue its offensive this year and in February we saw the announcement of the Redmi Note 4X. This phablet is actually not just an improved version of Redmi Note 4. The device has received a lot of changes, which we will talk about in this review.

Equipment

By tradition, all current Xiaomi smartphones are sold in a white cardboard box, the style of which breathes minimalism. On the front of the box there is only an indication of the model number of the smartphone and an indication of the amount of memory. On the reverse side, there is only an indication of the characteristics and a QR code that links to the manufacturer's website. On the sides of the box we can see only the name of the phone and the MI logo.

Inside the box, immediately under the lid, lies the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X, which is additionally protected by shipping films. Under the smartphone is the documentation, and under it are all the other few accessories: a charger, a microUSB cable and a clip for the SIM tray. All the little things in the box are made to last, very high quality. The only thing missing is an adapter for our standard sockets. Usually retailers add them to the box.

Design

Outwardly, Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X did not surprise us with anything - it is still the same typical smartphone of the line, which has undergone minor changes. Unfortunately, the rear panel now has plastic inserts to improve signal reception.

To avoid damaging the protective glass of the main camera as much as possible, the lens is slightly recessed into the panel. A round fingerprint scanner was installed under the camera, which in fact only pleases us - it is fast and accurate, it works even with wet fingers. There is also a dual dual-tone LED flash to improve white balance when shooting indoors.

At the bottom of the rear panel there is only the MI logo and a sticker with additional information.

The bezel is fully protected by tempered glass, which hides a 5.5-inch display.

Below the screen is a row of touch-sensitive buttons with rich backlighting, noticeable even outdoors during the day.

A front camera, a standard set of sensors and an earpiece were installed above the screen.

We see the power button and volume rocker on the left side of the case. When you hold your smartphone, you can easily reach these buttons with your finger, no matter what hand you hold the device in. The movement of the buttons is smooth, there is a click when pressed, there is no rattling.

On the right side, only a combined tray for SIM and microSD cards was installed. As usual, you can install two SIM cards, or one SIM and a memory card.

The charging cable can be connected to the microUSB port at the bottom of the case, next to which are the speaker holes. The manufacturer made two perforated zones, one of which is needed only for symmetry.

At the top there is an infrared port, an additional microphone and a headset jack. The infrared port is used to control compatible multimedia equipment.

Despite the rather impressive 5.5-inch screen, the case is compact and fits comfortably in the palm of your hand. The matte surface, in contrast to the glossy one, does not collect fingerprints at all and does not slip.

On sale Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X can be found in gold, pink, black and mint colors.

Display

It has a 5.5-inch IPS LCD screen with Full HD resolution. The pixel density is quite standard for such displays - about 400 ppi. The picture is quite high quality, individual pixels are not visible. The screen sensor allows you to recognize up to 10 touches at the same time, without erroneous responses.

The matrix has not ideal color reproduction, the average for smartphones of this class. We have no complaints about this parameter. The screen backlight is uniform. Colors will not fade when tilted too far.

The screen of Xiaomi Redmi Note 4x does not have the best brightness indicators, but outdoors in bright sunlight you can safely use your smartphone, especially since it has a good anti-reflective coating.

Performance

Xiaomi has installed an eight-core Snapdragon 625 processor in the Redmi Note 4X, clocked at up to 2.0 GHz. This chip is mainly found in mid-range smartphones, so we expect average performance as well. Phablet was able to pleasantly surprise us. It handles resource-intensive games and applications easily, although in games it is better not to set the maximum graphics settings. By the way, Adreno 506 is installed here.

The basic version of Redmi Note 4X has 3GB of RAM, and the older version has 4GB. In principle, 3GB is enough for any user and the smartphone will almost always work perfectly smoothly.

As always, Xiaomi installs MIUI firmware on its smartphones. In our case, the Redmi Note 4X runs MIUI based on Android 6.0. The interface is standard here, if you are familiar with the company's devices. We did not find anything special or new. The design has remained the same, all menu elements and all functions are in their usual places.

The firmware works stably even under heavy load. The interface animates smoothly, and the system responds instantly to commands.

The only thing that an experienced user will have to do is that in the Chinese version of the firmware, you will need to unlock the bootloader for the subsequent installation of the localized MIUI assembly.

Camera

Soyami Redmi Note 4 X received a main 13-megapixel camera with f / 2.0 aperture and autofocus. Of the features, it is worth mentioning 5-lens optics and backlight technology. In theory, this should allow high quality photos and videos to be taken even in low light.

The front camera is 5-megapixel, with standard ISO and wide viewing angles.

The application interface has not changed, there are no differences from other Xiaomi smartphones. We get access to numerous manual settings, a huge selection of filters with real-time preview. Focusing takes about 0.1 s, which is pretty fast.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X is perfect for everyday shots, but don't expect masterpieces. Although the detail is good, the color rendition is close to natural, it still has drawbacks, including the appearance of strong noise in low light.

The video quality is also average; nothing stands out from the general picture of smartphones in this segment.

Battery

The battery capacity of Xiaomi Redmi Note 4x is 4100 mAh, which is enough for a good battery life. Note that the smartphone has a large 5.5-inch display and an energy efficient processor - this greatly affects the performance.

For example, AnTuTu rated the autonomy of the Redmi Note 4x at 13483 points. The real indicators of the smartphone are as follows:

• in the game at maximum load - up to 6 hours
• watching HD video - on average 8 hours
• work with the browser - about 8 hours
• reading mode - up to 10 hours
• listening to music with the screen off and in airplane mode - more than three days

It turns out that Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X without recharging can work quietly all day, and this is not in the most economical mode. Self-discharge per day is no more than 4%.

We can advise you to use energy efficient modes of operation, which will increase the battery life by several hours.
The smartphone battery is charged up to 100% in about 2.5 hours.
