We remove objects in the photo in Photoshop. How to easily remove an unwanted subject from a photo in Photoshop

In this lesson, you will learn how to remove unwanted objects from a photograph, for example, objects or people that accidentally fell into the frame. It can be a spot, an inscription, random people, or even the entire background of a photo. You will quickly see that such simple transactions require a minimum amount of time.

As an example, I took a photo of nature. In the picture from above, two objects are clearly visible in the frame (Figure 1).

Picture 1.

To eliminate unnecessary details, I enlarge the image up to 100% using the tool: Magnifier or by moving Navigator up to 100%. Then I select the tool: Lasso on the toolbar, it is him, not Straight lasso or Magnetic lasso... With these tools, I trace an area around two objects in the sky (Figure 2).

Figure 2.

In my case, I'm not afraid to capture more of the sky, because it is practically homogeneous. Now I press the key: Delete... A dialog box appeared (Figure 3).

Figure 3.

In it I select the color that will fill the selected area. I choose an item: Content-aware... In this case, the program will try to virtually continue the existing background. And I press OK... Then I go to the panel: Selection-Undo Selection... The photo is ready. Excessive details have been removed (Figure 4).

Figure 4.

Now you know how to remove unnecessary objects from a photo in Photoshop and this action takes little time.

Eliminate the hawk from the photo.

But in some cases, you need to remove much larger objects. For this example, I used a photo with mountains. In this photo, a hawk hovers high in the sky (Figure 5).

Figure 5.

Removing an extra object (in this case a hawk) is not difficult at all. As in the first case, I increase the scale of the image as much as possible. From the toolbar, I select: Straight lasso and I circle the bird, staying as close to its contour as possible (Figure 6).

Figure 6.

Then I press the key: Delete, in the window that appears, select: Content-aware and click OK... On the top panel I select: Select-Deselect (Figure 7). In such a simple way, you can remove unnecessary (unnecessary) objects in images.

Figure 7.

We delete the text caption.

Now let's complicate the task. Let's try to remove unnecessary inscription from the advertising sign (Figure 8). I will delete the red text by World Class.

Figure 8.

To remove this label, I'll use the tool again: Straight lasso (Figure 9).

Figure 10.

In my case, after removing the inscription, a small speck formed, to remove it, I will use the tool: Stamp on the toolbar. And I click the key Alt... Thus, adjacent layers are copied. And I start painting by pressing a key Alt as often as possible (Figure 11).

Figure 11.

Remove the background image from the photo.

A more difficult task is to remove the background from the photo (Figure 12). To remove it, you first need to select it. It makes no sense to highlight the background itself, it will take a lot of time. Easier to select the subject and make Inversion.

Figure 12.

To remove the background, I will use the tool: Magnetic lasso on the toolbar. I move the cursor along the contour of the person. And so on until the last marker will not connect to the first, after which a dotted line will run along the contour of the object (Figure 13).

Figure 13.

Then I press the button: Refine edgelocated in the upper part of the working window. A window will open (Figure 13), I check the box: Smart radius... Below are the sliders, with which you can achieve the most accurate selection. As soon as the result suits you, press OK.

Figure 14.

Go to Selection-Inversion... After that, I open the panel: Layers and I double-click the left mouse button on the word: Background (Figure 15).

Figure 15.

Now I press Delete and the background will immediately disappear, a transparent area will appear instead (Figure 16). Now you can put another photo as a background.

Figure 16.

In this lesson, you learned how to remove unnecessary (unnecessary) details from a photo in Photoshop. Now you can independently perform such operations in a matter of minutes. This technique can be used to edit any graphic images: photographs, drawings, sketches, etc.

All the best.

Sometimes, looking through the pictures, you find that unnecessary objects have got into the frame. Or you need a photo to place the logo, but it already has other inscriptions. How to remove the caption from the picture and remove the unnecessary object in Photoshop?

For these tasks use the tool Clone Stamp Tool or Patch Tool... The latter is preferable if the extra object is located on a simpler (monochromatic) background.

Working tool Patch Tool, we cut out (copy) the donor area and cover everything unnecessary with it. How it works? Hold down the left mouse button, outline the appropriate area and move the patch. This tool has two modes:

Source... When using it, the selected area will be filled with the donor fragment into which the selection was moved.

Destination... In this mode, the selected area will cover the area to which it will be moved.

Let's consider some examples.

Patch Tool

Open the photo in Photoshop and create a duplicate layer ( Ctrl + J). On the toolbar, in the group of repair tools, select Patch Tool... If the tool is in the group by default, just press the key J.

To make it easier to work with the image, scale it ( Ctrl + and Ctrl-).

We will be removing the Shell logo. So, we select the first donor site. Press the button on the control panel "Appointment", parameter "Diffusion" set it to 7. Move the cursor and outline the area for the patch (it will be highlighted with a dotted line).

Then drag the selection onto the logo. If the first time the patch does not completely cover the painted area, move it again until the unnecessary object disappears completely. You can undo an unsuccessful action by simultaneously pressing the keys Ctrl + Alt + Z.

Save the finished image ( Shift + Ctrl + S) by choosing a file type convenient for you (for example, JPG).

Here's our result:

Clone Stamp Tool

Now let's take a more complicated case. Let's remove the person from the image.

For this we need a tool Clone Stamp Tool... It is called by the key S... You can adjust its size with the keys [ and ] ... This tool creates a clone of the donor site. They are corrected gradually, with small strokes.

Select the donor area next to the painting area. To do this, move the cursor to the donor site and hold down the button Alt, click once with the left mouse button. The donor site is marked with a cross. When moving over the image, it follows the cursor, so the donor site needs to be changed periodically. Now move the cursor and click the left mouse button.

This image has many vertical and horizontal stripes in different shades. In place of the umbrella, you need to add a ceiling. For the boy, one door is ajar, the other is closed. All this should be taken into account when painting.

So that the lines of beams and boards do not look broken, the donor site should be carefully selected. It is important to place the stamp so that the stripes match.

One of the stages. Here is the gap between the doors.

Gradually paint over the lines horizontally and vertically. To draw the door on the left, the donor area is taken from the leftmost edge, and the vertical lines are taken from the top. We brought the stamp, clearly combining the sections so that the straight lines would go smoothly.

In this tutorial, I will show you how using the tool Clone stamp tool(Stamp) remove the person from the photo and restore the background.

Lesson materials:

Step 1

Open the photo of Old Couple and above, create a new layer above the background.

Step 2

We activate Clone stamp tool (Stamp) (S).

To use successfully Stamp, first you need to determine the source (the point to be cloned). To do this, just hold down the key Alt and click on the appropriate place in the image, then start drawing. You will paint with the pixels that you cloned. Now that we have figured out how the tool works, undo the last action (Ctrl + Z) and deactivate the checkbox Aligned(Align) in the top options bar.

Now, one by one, we take samples of the sources around the woman and paint over her with a Stamp. Unfortunately, there are no universal recipes for how best to use the Stamp in any particular case. Try to paint over the woman completely. Don't worry about the repeating pattern for now, we'll fix it later.

In the screenshot, red circles mark the sources for the samples (Alt + click).

You should end up with something similar.

And don't forget that each cloning step must be done on a new layer. After the first step, we have a background and one new layer.

Notice that despite my best efforts, the photo still has an awful repeating pattern (a side effect of using the Stamp). In the next step, we will fix this.

Step 3

Create a new layer (Ctrl + Shift + Alt + N) and use the Stamp to gently get rid of the repeating patterns.

Note that the grass is sharper at the level of the man's legs the further away (at the knee level). Let's try to achieve the same result on the left side of the photo. Take a sample of the cut grass and paint over carefully, trying to avoid repeating patterns.

The flowers in the background look unrealistic, so we continue to clone them to the very edge of the document. Don't forget: New Layer (Ctrl + Shift + Alt + N) and Stamp.

Step 4

The result still looks unnatural. Create a grass selection on the right side, press Ctrl + Shift + C to copy it, then create a new layer (Ctrl + Shift + Alt + N) and paste the copied area (Ctrl + Shift + V). Move the copied grass to the left side of the image.

Add a mask to the same layer. Layer - Layer Mask - Reveal All (Layer - Layer Mask - Show All) and with a soft round brush of black color (B) remove the hard edges from the copied grass. Thanks to this, we will neatly merge the new piece of grass with the background. Repeat this process several times to cover other areas of the photo that are not good.

After taking a photo, how often do we notice that unnecessary elements have got into the frame, for example: wires, strangers or unnecessary objects? But the shot itself would have been perfect if those objects in the background hadn't been interfered with. Photoshop masters can easily edit a photo and remove all interfering details, but what about ordinary people who do not know how to work in professional graphic editors? The way out, as usual, is simple - to use third-party software, which is "sharpened" for specific purposes. In our case, this is the Snapheal program, designed to help mere mortals easily remove all unnecessary elements from a photo. Working with the program is quite simple. When starting Snapheal, we are greeted with a hint on how to work with it, and an import window for uploading a photo. Add your photo and start editing. For this, we have three blocks available:
- removing unnecessary elements
- retouching a separate part of the photo
- correction of the whole photo

Unfortunately, each of the blocks works independently of each other, so you cannot cut objects at the same time and, for example, change the contrast, you must definitely save the intermediate result. But nevertheless, Snapheal is not a graphics editor, and its main purpose is to remove unnecessary elements. All other functions are more likely for small adjustments after the main task has been completed.

We will not get hung up on secondary functions and will go straight to the main one - “smart” object deletion. We have special tools to select the area we need to remove. You can use the "lasso" and select the desired area with maximum precision, or you can take the "brush" and cover the desired area over the photo. Then you have one of three processing options to choose from:

  • Twister - for removing objects against the background of the sky;
  • Shapeshift - for removing large objects;
  • Wormhole is the opposite for removing small objects.

After that, it is desirable to set one of three substitution parameters: low, medium, or very accurate. That's all, it remains only to press the "Erase!" and wait a bit while Snapheal removes the elements we don't need. Naturally, the higher you set the processing accuracy, the longer the process will take (if you do not take into account the size of the photo itself).

Not every time the result of the program will be satisfactory, because it still depends on the very concept of the photo. It is clear that the more uniform the background, the better the effect will be. However, if you are not satisfied with the result, try different substitution options. As a rule, one of them will have a completely positive effect.

Now about the more pressing issue - the price. She "bites" - 479 rubles. Too much for a narrow program. On the other hand, a Photoshop package for these purposes is not the most profitable investment, especially if you are not using it professionally.

Good day to all, my dear friends. I am with you again, Dmitry Kostin. I remembered here a lot of moments when you are photographed, and some extra person or some object that is inappropriate in the photo gets into the frame. Sound familiar? You only notice it already when there is no possibility to take another picture. Leave it as it is? No way!

Excess items can be thrown out of the photo, and no one will notice the difference. Do you want to know how to remove an unnecessary object from a photograph in Photoshop? Then read on.

Content-Aware Filling

As you can see, the cat has disappeared, but you do not have the cut out area as it usually happens. The void was filled with adjacent pixels, which, according to the program itself, most likely could be in this place.

I had a small "joint". when I removed the cat, in the area where the tail should be, a piece from the handle appeared (apparently a clothes dryer). But it is removed in exactly the same way. And now you have a clean blanket without belly.

Likewise, I decided to remove the textbook from the desk. Agree that it's very simple? But that is not all.

Stamp tool

Sometimes the first method may not be quite suitable for the purposes we need. But it doesn't matter. Photoshop almost always has several solutions for a specific task. And this case is no exception.

Let's take a picture of a beautiful coastal view. A beautiful view, but as you can see impudent birds flew past and got into the frame. I hit it nicely, but let's say it's not needed there.

Then we roll up our sleeves, take the lasso and do all the operations from the first paragraph. Let's see what we've got. Somehow not very good, right?

The tool "Stamp" will help us with this. This tool is somewhat similar to Healing Brushwhich we used, but there are differences. With the restoration brush, we took the donor area and painted over the unnecessary detail with it in such a way that then the colors that correspond to this area were superimposed. When stamped, nothing like that happens.

If it is somehow difficult for you to understand this process in a text version, then I made a separate video tutorial especially for you. Happy viewing.

It turned out quite a good picture, as if it were. You can combine several methods to achieve the desired result.

Do you have photos where you can remove anything unnecessary? If so, then it's time to get rid of it.
