How to print a page from the Internet. Print the page without unnecessary elements

If you want to print an article of interest to you from the Internet, it is not at all necessary to scour the web page in search of a printable version, and even more so, copy it into Word (but we will also consider this option, since many users are used to using this program for working with text). Both of these methods are routine and irrational. It should be noted that if you copy text from a web page and paste it into any text editor, then you will need to edit the pictures and text later (pictures can crawl onto the edges of the page in Word and the text can be displayed incorrectly), but this is not very well. After all, there are other simpler ways of how to print a page from the Internet on a printer.

Note: There will be an output at the end of the page to help you choose the correct printing method.

In this post, we will discuss the most popular browsers that will help solve this issue:

How to select the text you want to print

The first step is to select the text that you want to print on your printer. But on this page, in addition to the article itself, there may be also extraneous materials that you may not need: links to similar pages, comments, site table of contents, advertising, etc. You can leave, for example, comments as additional information, or you can remove - you decide.

To select the text that will be printed on the printer, select the text with the left mouse button. Press the left mouse button at the beginning of the text and without releasing it move the mouse to the last word in this document. Thus, you should highlight the text you want to print.

Note: you can not select the text, but make the settings in the browser. We will talk about them further.

Without removing the selection, simultaneously press two keys on the keyboard "Ctrl" + "P" - the key combination is suitable for all browsers. After that, a window will open where you need to select the required parameters and click on the "Print" button. Now let's talk about what to click in the browser at this stage. Below you can find your browser to start the printing procedure.

After pressing the keys, the print menu will appear. In the window, you will see a preview area (located on the right), with which you can understand what will be printed now. On the left there are very useful settings that will help to remove unnecessary information from the document, and also at the top left you can see the number of sheets required to print this text.

Here you can specify: how many copies should be made, select a layout and mark what type of printing you want to make - color or black and white. When you set up printing, be sure to check the "Simplify page" checkbox. Thus, you will remove unnecessary elements from the future document and reduce the number of pages. Here's an example:

The number of pages has become 10, but it was 12. Also, elements that do not relate to the text were removed from the document. As you can see from practice, this feature is useful and we recommend using it. Now it remains to click "Print" to print these pages.

If you need a document in good quality, we recommend clicking "Advanced settings" and in the quality section specify "600 dpi".

Choosing the print quality:

When you select the desired text and press the keyboard shortcuts that we talked about above, you will see the following window:

The most important setting here is the "Selected Fragment" checkbox. In Firefox, this check box may be grayed out if you have not made a selection. When you have specified the print range, click OK. Next, the browser will send this document to print.

Internet Explorer

This browser has the same functionality as Mozilla Firefox. When you press "Ctrl" + "P", you need to specify the page range and then press "Print". If you made a selection of text, then click on "Selection". If you want to print the entire web page, then click on "All" and then you can print this page.

Please note that Internet Explorer may have a quick print button (see image below). It is absolutely not worth using it, because it immediately starts printing the entire page as a whole, bypassing the settings window and ignoring the selection. Also, the Internet Explorer browser has a feature - to print the text along with the advertisement, even if it was not in the selection. We do not recommend using this browser to print web pages.

This browser is visually similar to Google Chrome. Therefore, we will not analyze it in detail, since we have already done this above. If you are going to print pages from this browser, then we recommend that you go higher, where we told you how to print in the Google Chrome browser. We have made a complete review of this procedure for this browser and the information that is there will be very useful to you.

By pressing the "Ctrl" + "P" keys, a window for printing settings will appear. Here you need to check the "Simplified page" checkbox (to remove unnecessary elements before printing) and select the quality "600 600". After that, you can safely click on "Print".

Yandex browser

The printing procedure is very similar to the Google Chrome and Opera browsers (read more about the settings above, where we talked about these browsers). When you go to the desired page and press "Ctrl" + "P", then you will see the following window:

Be sure to tick the box "Simplify layout", specify the parameters you need and click "Print".

In this browser, the printing procedure is the same as in other browsers. You need to specify your printer on the left - if you have several of them, choose the print orientation, how many copies to print and also recommend turning off the headers and footers (as in the screenshot below).

When all the parameters are set according to your conditions, press "Print".

Many users are already accustomed to the Microsoft Word program, and it seems to them that all procedures related to text should be done in it. Therefore, we decided to tell you how to do it correctly in this application. Below are the basic guidelines you should use to make your text readable and correct for printing on paper:

PrintWhatYouLike.com service

There is a service on the Internet that will help you print any web page. Here it is http://www.printwhatyoulike.com/. Go to this site and enter the page address in the empty field. Next, check the box "I'm not a robot" and click "Start".

At the top left, you will see a window in which you can set the settings for printing.

We all wondered this question how to print a page from the internet... And we ran into the same problem, almost every site contains a huge amount of different iconography and all kinds of design, such as shadows, layers and backgrounds. If you constantly send html pages with this legacy to print, then the cartridge of your printer will soon begin to remind you that, although ink is a consumable, it is worth saving. Also, most of the page layout, including menus, header, and control panels, is usually not needed.

Therefore, you face a small routine problem of how to print a page from the Internet with only the necessary content. In most cases, it is enough just to copy the text of the page into any office document, and then manually delete all unnecessary things that were accidentally copied along with the main text. However, on sites there may be text inserts with the same ads or spaced internal controls, the removal of which promises you a long and boring pastime. But, for you there is good news - this is an online service PrintFriendly.

How to print a page from the Internet?

The PrintFriendly.com website is very simple and easy to use. Just open the service in a browser and then enter the address of the web page you want to print. In a couple of seconds you will see an optimized version of the page from the Internet, ready for printing. But, the possibilities of the service do not end there. So, in order to delete unnecessary text that for some reason still remained on the page, you just need to left-click on it and it will be automatically deleted. A damn convenient way to prepare a page for printing. In addition, you can also form a PDF document from the received text or send it by e-mail.

Additional features of the site page print service

Service PrintFriendly it also provides additional options for quickly deleting all images, which is especially convenient in cases where you only need information, and changing the size of the text, which will obviously please people with not very good eyesight. Of course, every time typing the website address in the browser is a very tedious task, so the authors have developed special plugins for browsers (Chrome, Firefox, IE, Safari and others), as well as a script for inserting into the website. Thus, if you often print information from the Internet, or if you have been thinking about the printed version of the site for a long time, then it will be much easier to do than you think.

Now, you will always have an excellent tool at hand, not only printing the desired text, but also saving on consumables.

From time to time on the Internet you can find articles so valuable that you want to print them out and read them to the bone. At the same time, not all services provide a version of the article for printing, or our desires to print do not coincide with the capabilities provided (I want to leave the picture or change the type of the main font). How to print a page without unnecessary elements? In this case, a web service will help.

On the main page of PrintWhatYouLike in the middle of the screen there is a form for entering the address of the page to be printed. We entered the address, the page is loaded, and we see that when any of the interface elements is selected, it is surrounded by a red frame. Another click of the left mouse button and a list of possible operations opens. Interface elements can be deleted one at a time or in a group, expand a separately selected one within the boundaries, or select one block of text, deleting all others. That is, it is possible to remove the unnecessary parts of the page one by one or quickly isolate the necessary from the secondary and print.

On the left side of the screen there is a sidebar with a number of functions for the edited page:

  • saving the edited page to PDF, HTML formats;
  • changing the size of the text, font type;
  • remove backgrounds or images with one click.

For the convenience of the user, PrintWhatYouLike suggests placing a button on the bookmarks bar for editing before printing any page we visit. There is also a PageZipper option. It will be convenient when reading those resources where they like to divide one article into five, ten or more pages. You press “Next page”, again “Next page”, and then you realize that there was nothing to read. PageZipper will lay out the entire article on one page for further editing and printing. If you don't want to install a bookmarklet, then a plugin for Firefox PageZipper 0.6.1 is available.

For registered users, PrintWhatYouLike offers a control panel that contains information about the number of Printer Friendly buttons installed, sheets of paper saved and printed, money saved, trees not felled and the ill-fated carbon monoxide was not released into the atmosphere.

Bloggers can benefit too. Installing the plug-in will lead to the appearance on each blog page of a convenient button for sending articles to print, the ability to save pages in PDF format, which will save readers paper and printer ink.

Of course, you have seen on some sites that the right mouse button is prohibited. This feature primarily fights off those who want to steal your content. This measure will not protect you completely from theft, but completely from manual copying. Other options .
I do not recommend disabling the right mouse button if you post material intended for copying on your blog. These can be codes, scripts, recipes, reference materials, and more. No copying in this case will turn away visitors from you, and your blog will become less useful to visitors. If protection against plagiarism is important to you, then it is better to use adding your url at the end of the copy. Then you will be sure that if someone wants to publish somewhere else on the Internet, copied from you, then the copy-paste is more likely to share a link to your blog.
This recipe works for any website. You just need to paste the code into all pages of your blog:

IN Blogger add the code to the HTML / Javascript gadget in the Design tab. If you are using one of the latest themes on your blog (Emporio, Contempo, Soho, Notable), then do not forget to activate the visibility of the widget (checkbox next to “Visible to all”, “Show widget“ HTML / JavaScript ””).
On Wordpress add the code to the Text widget.

The content of the article:

Google Plus is closing

The Google Plus platform did not meet the expectations of the developers and will be completely removed as early as April 2, 2019. Together with it, the albums associated with it in Google Photos will disappear, authorization on sites with a Google Plus account will become inaccessible. Starting from February 4, the function of creating Google Plus profiles, channels and pages became unavailable. If you have valuable content stored on your account, you can download a backup copy.
Most of the changes will affect bloggers who blog on Blogspot. Some G + widgets, G + comments, and Google + profile will become unavailable. This is stated in the notification in the Blogger admin panel:
Following the announcement that the Google+ API will be discontinued in March 2019, there will be a number of changes to Blogger's Google+ integration on February 4th.
Google+ widgets.Blog designs will no longer support the +1 Button, Google+ Followers, and Google+ Icon widgets. All instances of these widgets will be removed from your blog.
+1 buttons. The +1 and G + buttons and the Post to Google+ links below blog posts and in the navigation bar will be removed.
Please note that if you are using a custom template that has Google+ features, it may need to be changed. Contact the person who provided you with this template for guidance.
Google+ Comments.Support for comments using Google+ will be discontinued, and default Blogger comments will be restored for all blogs that use this feature. Unfortunately, comments posted via Google+ cannot be transferred to Blogger, so they will no longer appear on your blog.

Delete Google Plus comments

Unfortunately, comments that have been published in the system will be deleted permanently. You can only use the same tool https://takeout.google.comto tell Google + comments backup to your computer. Only a bootloader is not provided for it and you can restore comments only manually in a rather crooked way. It's good that I am on time in due time.

How to replace a Google profile with a Blogger profile

If you are blogging on Blogspot, then it is advisable now to switch from the Google Plus profile to the Blogger profile (for those who switched to Google Plus at the time). I recommend doing this right now to avoid unforeseen situations that may occur when deleting Google Plus accounts.

How to return a Blogger profile

This is easy to do in the Blogger admin settings:
Settings -> User Settings -> User Profile - here select Blogger

Save your changes.

Confirm the transition to and enter your name or nickname.

Don't forget to upload an avatar on your Blogger profile.

How to delete a Google plus profile

If you decide to get rid of the G + profile once and for all, then go to your google plus page -> Settings -> scroll to the bottom of the page -> delete google plus account:

Today I will tell you what CSS3 is, what it is eaten with, where to look for it, how to properly prescribe it. I warn you, I will tell on my own, simplified for the general public, as I see it + examples. So let's start from afar.
CSS is the style in which the properties of an object are written. This means that they are in all existing engines, if you cannot find them, then either you look not there, or they really are not ( crooked site). Where do they usually find it? Usually this is the site root, the name of the style.css file, although, in principle, the name is not as important as the .css extension, if the file with this extension is a styles file.
See also my blog.

Where to find them?

The file path is assigned in the template between
" />
Blogspot is a little different, there styles are written right in the code, before the tag between
styles here

What do the styles look like?

let's look at an example:
#header (background: #fff; font-size: 13px; line-height: 1.5; font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", "Bitstream Charter", Times, serif; color: # 333;) .contacts ( position: absolute; top: 20px; right: 10px;)
contacts of the site's author

You can view the styles on any site, just in a browser. Now you can easily recognize them by reading how they look in this article.
As you can see, styles are written in different ways. Styles that start with a pound sign correspond to a specific block id in, styles with a dot correspond to a specific block class. There is no other way, styles will not work. You can think of the names you want, the main thing is that they match the written id and class in html. Style properties must be enclosed in brackets, followed by a colon ( look at the example above), the parameter is written and closed with a semicolon. It is allowed that in the last property at the end you can not put a semicolon, just a closing parenthesis.
It happens that CSS is written directly in a block, without outputting it to a separate file:
site header

CSS on Blogspot

Styles can be written differently, I will explain later because of what. Opening the code, we can see this (look at the styles carefully, and you will see the familiar blogging tags that define the styles):
As you can see, the style property .Header h1 spelled out separately above. How to understand and find a property? very simple, u font there is a parameter header.font, that's what we are looking for. Find it in the “Blog Title” property group for the “.header h1” style, inside the 2 “header.font” and “header.text.color” properties. So we are changing them. This is done for the browser to read styles quickly, so it makes fewer requests. Because the property header.text.color can be repeated somewhere else. Below is still header.shadow.offset.left and others, the meaning in them is the same, I will not repeat.
When they say to search in css (or styles), then we are looking in blogspot between tags
and usually before the tag
unless, of course, they are written directly in html (example above, styles in blocks). In other cms, everything is usually placed in a separate file with the .css extension

This latest article was written to provide you with the latest information on removing unwanted links from Blogspot templates as well as new Blogger themes. As you know, there were changes in the Blogger codes in 2018, so many actions with the code need to be done in a new way. Plus, new topics have appeared that are formed differently. In connection with these changes, we will analyze the topic of deleting links.
You can check your blog for external links on the services https://pr-cy.ru/link_extractor/ and https://seolik.ru/links. Remember to check not only the blog home page but also the posts (posts) and pages (Page). A large number of external links open for indexing are discouraged.

How to remove links from the old default Blogger template

Using the Simple template as an example.
These templates provide the most inbound links. In my test blog, when installing a simple theme, when checking out, 25 external links were found on the home page, of which 14 were indexed.
I remind you that before making changes in the template code, make a backup copy!
  1. Remove link to Blogger - https://www.blogger.com/. This link is enclosed in the Attribution widget. In the Blog Design tab, it is displayed as an Attribution gadget and. To remove it, go to the "Theme" tab -> change HTML. By searching for widgets (list of widgets), we find Attribution1 and delete all the code along with the footer section, in which it is enclosed. This is how the collapsed code looks like:

    And here's the complete code:

We save the changes and check the blog for Attribution.
  2. You've certainly seen the “Wrench and Screwdriver” icons on your blog for quick widget editing. Each such icon carries with it an external link to Blogger. Now they are closed with the nofollow tag, but you still need to get rid of them. You will edit the widgets in the Design tab.
Here is an incomplete list of links that are encrypted in the wrench icons (blog ID will be yours)
    - HTML1 Widget: http://www.blogger.com/rearrange?blogID=1490203873741752013&widgetType=HTML&widgetId=HTML1&action=editWidget§ionId=header
    - HTML2 widget http://www.blogger.com/rearrange?blogID=1490203873741752013&widgetType=HTML&widgetId=HTML2&action=editWidget§ionId=header
    - Blog archive: http://www.blogger.com/rearrange?blogID=1490203873741752013&widgetType=BlogArchive&widgetId=BlogArchive1&action=editWidget§ionId=main
    - Blog shortcuts: http://www.blogger.com/rearrange?blogID=1490203873741752013&widgetType=Label&widgetId=Label1&action=editWidget§ionId=main
    - Popular posts: http://www.blogger.com/rearrange?blogID=1490203873741752013&widgetType=PopularPosts&widgetId=PopularPosts2&action=editWidget§ionId=main
All of these links are easy to get rid of. Find the tag in your blog template ... It appears as many times as there are widgets on your blog. Remove all occurrences of the tag .
  3. Remove links to quick edit blog post (pencil icon). Makes it easier to edit posts, but carries a threat as an external link of the form: https://www.blogger.com/post-edit.g?blogID=1490203873741752013&postID=4979812525036427892&from=pencil
    How to delete:
Method 1. In the Design tab, edit the “Blog Posts” item and uncheck the “Show Quick Edit” checkbox.
Method 2. find the tag in the blog template and remove it. Save changes and check your blog for the icon and link.
  4. Remove Navbar. Search for widgets in the Navbar1 blog html template and remove all the code along with the section.

    Namely:

Now Navbar in the blog does not provide indexed external links, but I believe that this is an extra element that does not carry a functional load, and it is better to remove it.
  5. Remove external links to images. When you upload images to a blog post, a link is automatically embedded in them. To remove such links, you need to edit all blog posts. In the "View" mode and further to the "Link" icon. If the image does not contain an external link, then when you click on the photo in the post editor, the “Link” icon is inactive (there is no icon highlighting).

  6. Remove the link to the blog author's profile. Remove the blog author under the post. To do this, find the code true and replace true with false. It will turn out false
  7. Close the link from the widget “” from indexing with the nofollow tag. If you are using the profile widget on your blog, use a quick widget search in the blog template to find the code for the Profile1 gadget. You need to edit the widget code, replacing rel = 'author' in two places with rel = 'nofollow' and add rel = 'nofollow' to two links. You should get something like the screenshot:

Made on the example of editing a Google Plus profile. As a reminder, Google Plus will be phased out on April 2, 2019. Accordingly, after this date, you will need to make other changes in the code of the "About me" widget.

  8. Checking for inbound links any blogspot post page that has comments. Find and delete the code in the blog template:

In the Blog settings, along the path Blog settings -> Other -> Site feed -> Allow blog feed, apply the following settings:

Remove external links from the new default Blogger template

Using the Notable theme as an example
  1. Remove Attribution (link below - Blogger Technologies)
Find Attribution1 in the widget search blog template (list of widgets) and delete the code along with the section similar to the old Blogger template (see above 1).
  2. Remove the link from the Report Abuse widget. This is the ReportAbuse1 widget. We find in the search by widgets:
The whole code looks like this:

  3. We check the blog post page with comments and remove links by analogy with the old blog templates (see above - point 8).
  4. Remove links from blog posts that are embedded in post images (see point 5).
