What are the requirements of the game GTA 5 on the PC. Why you need to know the system requirements

System requirements of the old GTA IV back in 2007, many were stunned. Let's figure out what kind of computer is needed for the new GTA 5?

To get started, check out the developer’s recommendations ...

System requirements

Minimum system requirements:

  • Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 2400 MHz or AMD Phenom 9850 @ 2500 MHz.
  • RAM: 4 GB.
  • Video card: Nvidia GeForce 9800 GT 1024 MB or AMD Radeon HD 4870 1024 MB.
  • Operating System: Windows Vista (SP2) Windows 7 (SP1) and Windows 8 / 8.1 (64-bit only).
  • Processor: Intel Core i5-3470 @ 3200 MHz or AMD FX-8350 BE @ 4000 MHz.
  • RAM: 8 GB.
  • Free space on HDD: 65 GB.
  • Video card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 2048 MB or AMD Radeon HD 7870 2048 MB.

GTA V REQUIREMENTS FOR A PROCESSOR

It doesn’t look so sad, but keep in mind that firstly they are processors of the latest architecture, and secondly they were tested with a top-end video card. On a Radeon HD 4850 with a dual-core Athlon II X2 this will not happen. It can be seen that GTA V makes excellent use of both four threads and four physical cores.

GTA V VIDEO REQUIREMENTS

GTA V at first glance favors all modern (keyword modern) video cards. Of course, apart from frank stubs. The mid-range architectures AMD GCN and Nvidia Maxwell like the R7 260X and GTX 750Ti allow you to see 30 fps and play with relative comfort. But here lies the catch, about which below ...

GTA V MEMORY REQUIREMENTS

GTA V wants 8GB of RAM, 65GB of free hard drive space and 3 (!) THREE GB of video memory.

And now back to the video cards - how many even powerful enough video cards have these same 3Gb DDR5 ???

It turns out that although the very fast GTX 660 2Gb DDR5, although it provides a high average fps, freezes at high settings are quite possible due to lack of video memory.

Is there a freebie for old computers?

GTA 5 on a laptop of normal cut WILL NOT GO

Who does not want to buy a computer for GTA V and thinks to upgrade the old 2008 year ?? Could it work? Or play on a regular laptop? 🙂

NOT!!! There will be no balls. Even on the relatively "fresh" tri-core AMD Phenom X3 8450, DDR2-800 (2Gbx2) 4 GB + ATI Radeon HD 3850 256bit 512MB (2008) and the graphics settings set to "zero" you will feel pain and suffering when watching a slide show.

CONCLUSION: GTA V is loyal to the new hardware, but at the same time mercilessly punishes the old.

So to assemble a computer for GTA V will have to be from the new hardware.

- Requires a quad-core modern processor
  - A modern pretop video card with a LARGE amount of video memory (preferably 3GB) is needed.
  - Requires 8GB of RAM.
  - A fast SSD drive is desirable, as it is unlikely that Winchester will like to drive 65GB of required memory.

P / S / The presence of a quad-core CPU of at least an old model, 4GB of RAM and 1GB of video memory is critical and it’s impossible to play normally without it.

You didn’t have time to get a powerful computer before you double the price of components, but you still want to play blockbusters and cool news? We will try to help you! Read our new anti-crisis section “60 FPS”. In it, we will try to teach you how to properly configure demanding video games for weak PCs.

First of all, you need to figure out how bad everything is with your “car”. So first, let's recall the system requirements for Grand Theft Auto 5.

Minimum system requirements for GTA 5

Operating system: Windows 8.1 64 Bit, Windows 8 64 Bit, Windows 7 64 Bit Service Pack 1, Windows Vista 64 Bit Service Pack 2
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 2.4 GHz / AMD Phenom 9850 @ 2.5 GHz
RAM size: 4 GB
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT 1 GB / AMD Radeon HD 4870 1 GB
Sound card:
  65 GB

So - above you see the computer configuration, which is necessary to run Grand Theft Auto 5. If your PC does not meet even these minimum requirements, then you can play if you can, then with great difficulty. And no fine-tuning here will save. In this case, try one of the cloud gaming services. In the Russian-speaking segment of the Internet, the largest representative at the moment is Playkey.

Operating system: Windows 8.1 64 Bit, Windows 8 64 Bit, Windows 7 64 Bit Service Pack 1
CPU: Intel Core i5 3470 @ 3.2 GHz / AMD X8 FX-8350 @ 4 GHz
RAM size: 8 GB
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 2 GB / AMD Radeon HD 7870 2 GB
Sound card: 100% compatible with DirectX 10
Free hard disk space: 65 GB

If you have a computer that is similar in configuration to the recommended system requirements, then Grand Theft Auto 5 should go for you at least at high settings and in FullHD-resolution (1920 × 1080 pixels). However, it is not a fact that the game will give out stable 60 FPS with all the “beauties” included. Therefore, it will also be useful for you to find out which graphics options can be sacrificed in favor of which so that it is beautiful and the frame rate does not sag.

Well, and, of course, this material will be most useful to those who are between the minimum and recommended requirements. That is, those who have a processor more powerful than AMD Phenom 9850, but weaker than Intel Core i5 3470, and a video card more powerful than AMD Radeon HD 4870, but weaker than AMD Radeon HD 7870, and so on.

Setting GTA 5 graphics

The following are all the general and advanced image settings in Grand Theft Auto 5. Some of them affect performance more, some less, and some do not. We tried to briefly describe the essence of each of these parameters, as well as give advice on their optimization.

Video Memory and Ignore Proposed Restrictions

The “Video memory” parameter displays the amount of graphics memory currently being consumed by the game. In theory, it should not exceed the available size for your video card, otherwise the main RAM starts to be spent. Nevertheless, most players write that even if GTA 5 consumes twice as much as you have, the game still works quite stably. Therefore, the parameter "Ignore the proposed restrictions" can be safely included.

DirectX Version

Depends on the year of release of the video card.

Not everything is obvious here either. There are three directX rendering options to choose from: 10, 10.1 and 11. The game was initially sharpened for the latest version, so it is the most stable. DirectX 11 also has all the visual effects available. He is in theory and the most demanding. However, a strong sagging FPS when choosing this option occurs only on very old video cards (released before 2012). Therefore, if your video card is not too powerful, but quite modern, then definitely choose DirectX 11. Otherwise, try all the options.

Resolution

Performance Impact: the average.

By setting the native screen resolution (usually 1920 × 1080 for desktop computers and 1366 × 768 for laptops), you get the sharpest image. If your system is not very efficient, then you can seriously raise the number of frames per second, lowering the resolution by a couple of orders. Just do not overdo it - otherwise you will not see the majority of the beautifulness of GTA 5, even if you set the remaining parameters to the maximum. Personally, I would recommend that you always set the native value, and it’s better to sacrifice slightly those settings that seriously affect the performance of the game.

Update frequency

Performance Impact: missing.

Here, always boldly set the standard value for your display. Most often it is 60 Hz. If you put less, the game will not become faster, but it will be worse for the eyes. You can "google" on this topic if you want to know more about the connection between vision and screen refresh rate.

Smoothing

Performance Impact:

    fXAA technology - low

mSAA technology - medium (consumes a lot of video memory),

    tXAA technology - high.

Smoothing by itself usually always slows down the game quite a lot. If you are the owner of a weak video card, then choose either the FXAA option, or turn it off completely. If the "vidyuha" you have is not so weak and it has at least 2 GB of RAM, then you can try MSAA - it provides a much smoother picture without "ladders" at the edges of three-dimensional objects. But TXAA technology, you can hardly afford it if you read this manual руководство

Vertical sync

Performance Impact: missing.

In theory, turning off this parameter is meaningless, since Grand Theft Auto 5 will not go faster from this. However, it would be most reasonable to first leave it turned off to measure the maximum frame rate in the game, and then choose one of two corresponding options: 50% if the FPS almost never exceeds 30 frames, or 100% if the game produces at least 40 frames, and on average - closer to 60.

City population

Performance Impact: low.

In GTA 4, the lower this parameter was, the faster the game worked. At first glance, in the fifth part everything is arranged as well, but in fact, the impact on performance, as it is not surprising, is not so great. If you completely turn off the population, then there will be almost no people and cars on the streets, and you will win a maximum of five frames. If you put 75%, then GTA 5 will slow down only by a couple of FPS, and Los Santos will already become much more lively. Therefore, we recommend that you always set this value. In extreme cases - 50%.

Variety of population

Performance Impact: low.

Video memory consumption: high.

A variety of population is how many variants of different models of people and machines you will encounter during the game. The parameter should be set below 75% only if you have less than 1 GB of video memory. In all other cases, there will be no difference in the stability or speed of GTA 5.

Focus scale

Performance Impact: low.

This is actually a drawing distance. Just the guys from "1C" cheated a little during the translation (by the way, this is not the only incorrectly localized parameter). The lower the setting, the less detailed will be the three-dimensional environment in the distance. However, in the game itself, due to the features of the graphics engine, the difference is that at 0%, that at 100% is not noticeable much. Therefore, you can either win a couple of frames and turn it off if you have a very weak computer, or put 75-100%.

Texture quality

Performance Impact: practically absent.

Video memory consumption: high.

The higher the value, the sharper the texture in the game, and three-dimensional objects will look more beautiful. Practice shows that setting a value lower than "High" makes sense only if you have little video memory. In all other cases, leave “High” or “Very High”.

Shader quality

Performance Impact: the average.

The more advanced shaders used in the game, the more high-tech the image will be. If the power of your graphics adapter is small (closer to the minimum system requirements), we recommend setting the standard quality of the shaders to win 7-8 frames. Only GTA 5 will look very mediocre, since shaders affect almost the entire graphics of the game as a whole. If you are lucky to be the owner of a sufficiently productive video card, then set the value to "High" or "Very High", and better reduce one of the more resource-intensive settings.

Shadow Quality

Performance Impact: high.

The first parameter from the list that really seriously affects performance. There are only a couple of frames of difference between the options “Standard” and “High Quality”. But if you put "Very High" quality, then FPS can sink up to 15 units! Be that as it may, the big difference “by eye” between very high and simply high values in beauty is practically not noticeable. Based on the foregoing, it is best to set the high quality of the shadows, not “Standard” and not “Very High”.

Reflection Quality

Performance Impact: high.

If you want the game to look at least somehow worthy, never put the “Standard” parameter here. In this case, instead of natural reflections in the mirrors, glass of houses, the surface of water bodies and car bodies, there will be some primitive dregs. If you slightly raise the value of the quality of reflections to the "High" option, then you will lose only 2-3 frames, and in GTA 5 it will immediately become much more pleasant to play.

Nevertheless, this setting seriously slows down the game’s video sequence, if you try to set the options “Very High” or “Highest Degree”. As with most heavy graphics settings with a high impact on performance, you can hardly afford it if you read this text.

MSAA for Reflections

Performance Impact: low.

Video memory consumption: high.

Reflection MSAA is the smoothing of reflection effects. It is not surprising, but this parameter in the game is not too resource-intensive. While in most other games, everything is exactly the opposite. Rockstar programmers are simply amazed at the quality of optimization in the GTA 5 version for personal computers. Another thing is that in appearance any difference between the parameter completely turned off and the “MSAA 8X” value is almost impossible to notice. Unless on a huge screen and in 4K resolution. But this "stray" eats a lot of video memory. Therefore, it is better never to turn it on.

Water quality

Performance Impact: low.

Here, too, everything is clear and simple. The higher you set the quality value, the better the water in the game.

The most reasonable option is “High” quality. If you put "Standard", then all the bays, channels and waves of the Pacific Ocean will look too wretched, and you win only a couple of frames. If you set "Very High" quality, then there will be no noticeable difference "by eye", but you will lose four frames.

Particle quality

Performance Impact: the average.

Grand Theft Auto 5 has a lot of high-tech effects like volumetric smoke and fire, dirt flying out from under the wheels of cars and motorcycles, as well as simply stunning explosions.

All this beauty, of course, affects the work of the game, but it affects in moderation. Therefore, if you have a computer with a configuration closer to the recommended requirements, you can safely set “High” or “Very High” particle quality. And if everything is completely bad - leave the "Standard".

Grass quality

Performance Impact: high.

Probably the most gluttonous parameter in the game. If you have hardly the minimum configuration necessary for GTA 5, then you can set the value to "Standard". Walking around the green surroundings of Blaine County, of course, will be painful, but you will win a lot of FPS. If the power card is located approximately in the middle between the minimum and recommended, then safely set the value to "High". The options “Very High” and “Higher Degree” eat up resources very seriously, so put them only if you are absolutely confident in your “vidyushka”.

Soft shadows

Performance Impact: the average.

Remember the “Shadow Quality” option that was higher in the list? “Soft shadows”, as you might guess, are directly related to it. If “Shadow Quality” affects performance very strongly, then “Soft Shadows” is rather average. And even if in the first case you set the value to “Standard”, then using this setting you can make them more attractive by simply choosing options such as “Soft” or “Softer”. Higher values already significantly reduce FPS, so we will not recommend them to you. However, you can try, of course.

Custom effects

Performance Impact: high.

Another parameter related to special effects. However, if “Particle Quality” controls the development of particle effects, then “Setting Special Effects” determines the quality of the effects of post-processing. And there are a lot of such people in the game: this is Bloom (glow), and the depth of field, and blur when driving a car, and sun's rays, and fog, and much, much more.

Here, as always with resource-intensive parameters, we advise you to set the value no higher than just “High”, so that it is beautiful and GTA 5 does not slow down.

Motion Blur

Performance Impact: missing.

This setting does not affect performance in any way, so you can set it to your taste. And its essence, we think, is understandable from the name absolutely completely.

Depth of field effect

Performance Impact: very low.

Blurs the distant landscape when driving, or while aiming.

If you enable this option, it will be easier for you to focus on certain elements of the environment or goals, and only 1-2 frames will be lost. So put on your own.

Anisotropic filtering

Performance Impact: very low.

Thanks to this technology, textures that are at an angle from your field of view remain crisp. Five years ago, the use of anisotropic filtering could seriously worsen the gameplay and reduce the frame rate. However, in recent years, video cards and game engines have learned to work with it just fine. Therefore, we advise you to try to enable this parameter to the maximum. It is very unlikely that you will lose more than 1-2 frames.

Shading AO

Performance Impact: low.

Also known as SSAO. In different games, things are different, but basically "Shading AO" has a significant effect on performance. But not in the case of the perfectly optimized Grand Theft Auto 5. In general, the essence of SSAO is that it allows all highly detailed objects in the game to cast shadows on themselves.

Tessellation

Performance Impact: low.

Since in GTA 5 quite a bit what this technology is applied to, it also does not have a big impact on performance. For example, if you set a high value, then the relief of the trunks of palm trees will become more voluminous. Various cobblestones and stones, as well as waves on the surface of water bodies, are also added in detail.

It’s best to either turn off tessellation completely if your “car” is barely pulling the game, or turn on “Very High” quality. There will be no difference in the loss of FPS (3-4 frames), and in some places the picture will become much more saturated.

Additional image tinctures

There are five parameters at once that affect performance differently. Since the effect of almost all of them is not particularly noticeable, and the essence is clear from the name, we decided to just give a couple of tips, which ones to include and which not:

Long shadows. More precisely, "full-sized" shadows. Turn off only if you have a very weak PC.

Shadows of high resolution. A sufficiently gluttonous parameter that does additional processing of shadows. On configurations closer to the minimum requirements it is better to turn it off, and closer to the maximum - turn it on.

Loading more detailed textures during the flight. Actually, not “textures”, but three-dimensional objects of the environment when your hero is flying in an airplane. Surprisingly not too demanding option, so you can try turning it on.

Increased loading distance for more detailed objects. It requires a lot of resources. If you read this text - turn it off.

The length of the shadows. Another incorrectly translated parameter. This is not the "length" of the shadows, but the "range of rendering" of the shadows. The game does not slow down too much, so you should turn it off only on very weak computers.

The Grand Theft Auto game series has always been different
high demands on iron. Each output of the next part of this “series” was a real celebration for manufacturers and sellers of computer equipment, as it was accompanied by massive upgrades and transitions of gamers to more powerful systems. Apparently, a similar picture will accompany the release of GTA 5 on the PC: the game promises to be very demanding and even at minimal settings it will go far from everyone!

GTA 5 requirements for pc

To date, Rockstar has not announced the official system requirements for the game, but, having analyzed the information available on the network, we can assume the following scenario:

Minimum System Requirements

- Operating system: Windows Vista (SP2), Windows 7 (SP1) or Windows 8 (only 64-bit system!);

- Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad Q8400 @ 2.66Ghz or AMD Phenom II X4 940 @ 3.0Ghz;

- RAM: 6 GB;

- Video card: DirectX 11 - compatible video card with 1 GB memory: Nvidia Geforce GTX 460 or AMD Radeon HD 5770.

- Operating system: Windows Vista (SP2), Windows 7 (SP1) or Windows 8 (only 64-bit system!);

- Processor: 8-core Intel Core i7-3770 @ 3.5 GHz or AMD FX-8350 X8 @ 4 GHz;

- RAM: 8 GB;

- Video card: DirectX 11 - compatible video card with 2 GB of memory: Nvidia Geforce GTX 560 ti or AMD Radeon HD 7850.

- Hard disk space: 35 GB.

GTA 5 requirements

As the above data show, GTA5 PC system requirements are expected to be quite high. The reason for this lies in the fact that, compared to the console versions of the game on PC, we are waiting for higher-resolution textures, improved lighting and new shader models. The range of drawing is also increased. Do not forget that the game is made on an improved version of the RAGE engine, the use of which places high demands on the hardware. In the meantime, players can expect the official release of the game, which is scheduled for January 27, 2015 and hope that the optimization of the game will not be as terrible as it was with the PC version of GTA 4.

What laptops does GTA 5 run on? Will the game go on my laptop? All answers in the article.

After the long-awaited release of GTA 5 in the PC version, many gamers tried to run the game on a laptop, however, not everyone succeeded. There are various causes for this problem: poor performance, inappropriate driver for the video card, or Windows version. This article will help you figure out on which laptop GTA 5 will still go.

Minimum System Requirements

To get started, you should familiarize yourself with the minimum system requirements:

CPU

Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz (4 CPUs) / AMD Phenom 9850 Quad-Core Processor (4 CPUs) @ 2.5GHz

RAM

Video card

Sound card

100% compatible with DirectX 10

HDD

65GB minimum free space

It is very important that the processor is quad-core, as stated in the system requirements. Of course, there are Kulibins who run GTA 5 on a dual-core processor, and then only with a video adapter with at least 1 Gb of memory, but this is usually done for experimental purposes, because playing with FPS of 10-20 is simply unrealistic. Of course, in addition to terrible lags and friezes, you will not be able to enjoy the graphics and the fullness of interaction with the game world.

On which laptop will GTA 5 (examples of models)

Game developers advise using laptops that have a minimum:

  • 4 core processor
  • video card is not worse GTX 965M (or equivalent).

Graphics card specifications:

For a comfortable game, you can use different models of laptops, we will give several examples of laptops from different manufacturers:

Laptops Asus:

  • ASUS ROG G751JL-WH71 (WX) Gaming Laptop Intel Core i7-4720HQ 2.6 GHz 17.3 "
  • ASUS ROG G751JL-DS71 Gaming Laptop Intel Core i7-4720HQ 2.6 GHz 17.3 "

  • ACER Aspire V Nitro VN7-591G-771

HP Notebook PCs:

  • HP Envy 15-ae004ur
  • HP Pavilion 17-f212ur

Samsung laptops:

  • Samsung 700G7A

What to do if GTA 5 does not start or slows down on a laptop

If your laptop fully meets the minimum system requirements, however, the game does not start, you need to check which video card is involved:

  1. Go to the device manager and turn off the discrete graphics card
  2. Launch the game, and then, through the task manager, turn it off
  3. A window appears with an error, without closing it, turn on the video card, and click "repeat"

Unfortunately, you will have to do this procedure regularly when you start the game.

There are cases when, after starting the game, it starts to slow down terribly, it is possible that the reason is incorrectly set graphic settings. Try going to the pause menu, then to the graphics settings. There, reduce all parameters to the minimum possible, as a rule, this helps to get rid of lags and friezes.

If none of the above methods work, then, unfortunately, it remains only to replace your laptop with a more powerful one, or upgrade its components.
