For burning data discs. Software for burning music to CD and DVD

CDs and DVDs are less commonly used today. This is largely due to the emergence of USB devices, which are better known as "flash drives". In some cases, using discs is a reasonable solution. Free CD burning software you can find on our website. Don't give up on these media. They are inexpensive and practical.

The capabilities of online copying of information from one disk and transfer to another medium with high quality data reproduction have been successfully implemented in the unique software development of Infra Recorder. The algorithms of the program are available to work with CD and DVD. Among the additional features of the utility is the creation of ISO and BIN images, the use of such properties in the form of an intermediate stage in the procedure for a full-fledged disk copy and transfer of information to another medium (if the only recording drive is working).

Recently, finding a good program for writing data to disk media on the net has become a real problem. Many utilities of this type have either become paid or contain viruses. But more recently, Ashampoo Burning Studio appeared on the Internet, which turned out to be so convenient, thanks to which it gained its wild popularity. Writing data to CDs and DVDs is no longer a headache.

Each of us has our own ideas about free software. Some computer owners take it with hostility and prefer to deal only with commercially distributed products, the cost of which includes not only the respect and respect of the developers, but also technical support services. Others are sure that enthusiasm alone will not go far, they predict a sad future for free and opensource solutions and, if possible, try to bypass them. Still others, on the contrary, believe in the bright prospects of free and free software, actively use it in their daily work, and just as zealously promote its use.

You can endlessly enumerate the advantages and disadvantages of free distributed products, but one cannot but take away from them one important quality - the freedom of choice that they provide. While purchasing software from developers who love hardcoins, users usually focus on the thickness of their own wallet, then when choosing free- and open-source applications - solely on their own needs and imagination. If you don't like one program, you can, with a bit of effort, try a lot of other products, which in their characteristics are approaching, and in some cases plugging other commercial solutions on the market. In order not to be unfounded, we decided to present a selection of applications for burning optical discs that can make a worthy alternative to paid programs and are a must in the arsenal of every PC user.

⇡ InfraRecorder

Developer: infrarecorder.org
Distribution size: 3.3 Mb
OS: Windows 2000 / XP / Vista / 7

An open source CD and DVD burning program that supports ISO, BIN / CUE disc images. InfraRecorder works with rewritable and multisession optical media, is able to find common ground with Audio CDs and dual-layer DVDs, and is equipped with functions for cloning discs and checking them for errors. One of the features of the application is the interface, implemented in the style of Windows Explorer and translated into forty or so languages, including Russian. In addition to the standard editions of the utility for 32- and 64-bit platforms, the developer Christian Kindahl's website provides a portable version of InfraRecorder that works from any flash drive.

⇡ BurnAware Free

Developer: burnaware.com
Distribution size: 5.9 MB
OS: Windows NT / 2000 / XP / Vista / 7

A tool for burning CD, DVD and Blu-ray discs. The functionality included in the program allows you to record Audio-CD, DVD-Video and MP3-discs, create bootable and multisession media, as well as create ISO images from them. BurnAware Free has an automatic Internet update module and a recorded data validation mechanism to make sure the process went smoothly. The interface of the utility is Russified, but the developers did not get their hands on the translation of the help. In the process, the accelerator application strives to integrate the Ask.com toolbar into Windows, so those who are thinking of twisting the tool in their hands are advised to be careful when installing it on a computer. It should also be noted that BurnAware Free does not know how to create exact copies of CDs and DVDs - this feature is present in commercial editions of the product, which are beyond the scope of our review.

⇡ Nero 9 Lite

Developer: nero.com
Distribution size: 31.6 MB
OS: Windows XP / Vista / 7

A stripped-down version of the well-known package for burning discs Nero Burning ROM. It will appeal to those who love Nero products and are willing to put up with the numerous limitations of the free version of the application. The program can only burn CDs and DVDs, copy them, as well as clean rewritable discs and show information about the used discs for reference. Nero 9 Lite has been designed with potential buyers in mind for the full edition of the popular package, and therefore is replete with dialog boxes urging the user to opt for a commercial product. Akin to the aforementioned program, Nero 9 Lite also installs the Ask.com toolbar in the Internet Explorer browser and does this even if the checkbox is unchecked in the installer settings. And although later an unnecessary component can be removed through the Windows control panel, the very fact of the forced installation of the toolbar cannot but be alarming.

⇡ ImgBurn

Developer: imgburn.com
Distribution size: 4.4 MB
OS: all versions of Windows, Linux (when using Wine environment)

One of the most powerful tools for working with CD, DVD, HD DVD and Blu-ray discs. ImgBurn supports BIN, CUE, DI, DVD, GI, IMG, ISO, MDS, NRG and PDI formats, allows the user to create audio CDs from MP3, MP4, MPC, OGG, PCM, WAV, WMA and others, interacts with any optical drive and can check the quality of data recording. The program is characterized by a huge number of parameters through which the user can flexibly manipulate the characteristics of the utility and customize it in his own way. No less interesting is the fact that all operations performed by ImgBurn are logged and shown as a report in a special window displayed next to the main application window. It hardly makes sense to recommend this program to novice users, but advanced computer owners should like it.

⇡ CDBurnerXP

Developer: cdburnerxp.se
Distribution size: 6,3 MB
OS: Windows 2000 / XP / Vista / 7

Features of this program are a built-in manager for printing covers for discs, a module for converting NRG and BIN images to ISO, as well as a rich toolkit for creating audio discs from MP3, WAV, OGG, FLAC and WMA files. In other respects, CDBurnerXP is practically in no way inferior to ImgBurn, with the exception, perhaps, of the interface, which is easier to use and understandable for ordinary users. Thanks to the successful combination of all the above factors, the utility has received special attention from many software portals and online media, including our online edition.

⇡ DeepBurner Free

Developer: deepburner.com
Distribution size: 2.7 Mb
OS: all Windows versions

Another rework of a commercial product, the functionality of which was deliberately cut by the developers. DeepBurner Free works with CD and DVD media (including multisession ones), can create audio CDs and burn data borrowed from an ISO image onto discs. A Russified interface made in the style of Windows Explorer, a module for checking for updates, adjusting the drive buffer size - all this and much more is implemented in the program. For the convenience of potential users, the creators of DeepBurner Free have provided a portable version of the application designed to be copied to flash drives and then run on any computer at hand.

⇡ Ashampoo Burning Studio Free

Developer: ashampoo.com
Distribution size: 8.2 MB
OS: Windows XP / Vista / 7

Craft of the German company Ashampoo, distributed by the developer not directly from his own site, but through a network of partner sites. It differs from all of the above applications in the ability to write data to CD, DVD, Blu-ray and create Audio-CD, Video-DVD, VCD, SVCD. The program supports more than 1700 different drives, can copy media and create images in ISO, CUE / BIN, ASHDISC formats, copes well with rewritable and multisession discs. If desired, Ashampoo Burning Studio Free can be used as a tool to create backup copies of data and then restore information at the right time. The only thing missing in the German product is the function of creating bootable disks, which in some cases is extremely useful.

⇡ Burn4Free

Developer: burn4free.com
Distribution size: 2.2 MB
OS: all versions of Microsoft operating systems starting from Windows 98

A program for recording CD, DVD, AudioCD, equipped with an interface, at a glance at which tears of sympathy are involuntarily welling up. If you brush them off and try to figure out the heap of keys, a good half of which, when pressed, throws them to the advertised sites, then you can come to the conclusion that Burn4Free actually can do a lot, but it's not so easy to get to the functionality built into the product. behind the ubiquitous pop-up banners. The application burns ISO images, supports a variety of music formats, interacts with more than three thousand models of optical drives and has other talents hidden under a layer of buttons of an archaic and completely goofy interface.

⇡ Small CD-Writer

Developer: small-cd-writer.com
Distribution size: 411 kb
OS: Windows (no specific version information)

The only program in our review for recording CD and DVD, created by the hands of domestic magicians. Unlike most similar programs, Small CD-Writer has a miniature size, works without installation, does not require space for caching files. The utility allows you to create multisession and bootable disks, burn ISO images of CDs, view all sessions on the disk and extract files from them, save projects on the computer disk. Automatic detection of the recorder and write speed, coupled with the most simplified interface, allow users of any skill level to work with the program. To transfer files to optical media, just select the "Send to Small CD-Writer" menu item in Windows Explorer and press the "Burn" button in the window that opens.

⇡ Express Burn

Developer: nch.com.au/burn/
Distribution size: 470 kb
OS: all editions of Windows, Mac OS X (starting from version 10.2)

Another miniature CD, DVD and Blu-ray burner. Despite its modest size, Express Burn includes features such as recording user data, creating audio and video discs, copying optical media and working with ISO images. A distinctive feature of the program, according to the developers, is the high speed of work and low demands on the computing resources of the computer. We could not find any shortcomings in Express Burn. The only disappointment was the absence of a portable edition of the product designed to run from flash devices.

⇡ Conclusion

20.03.2017

Simplicity of the interface and logical intuitive control are the main requirements when choosing a program for burning discs. It is the simple interface that will help you quickly prepare the disc for recording. Among the ten applications described here, not only the disc burning function is common here, but also the simplicity of the interface, of course.

Also remember to get an exact copy of the disc you need to set the write speed to minimum. For DVD it is 8x or 10.56 MB / sec and for CD less than 56x or less than 1.5 MB / sec. It is at low speed that the drive will make the fewest errors and, as a result, you will get a more accurate copy of the disc. Be sure to check the application for errors after burning the disc.

For burning discs, I chose ten programs, eight of which are completely free and two, CloneCD and UltraISO, are paid with a trial period. Choose what you need depending on your tasks. For copying a disc - any of the first eight programs, for burning an ISO image to a USB flash drive or disc - the last two are ideal.

We will go down from simple programs to more complex ones. Let's start with a simple, feature-rich utility - CDBurnerXP.

Application features

  • Writing data to disk;
  • Copying discs;
  • Creating and editing disk images;
  • Burn disk image to disk.

CDBurnerXP is a fairly popular program for burning discs; its functionality for working with discs is not inferior to its paid counterparts. With two drives, it is able to copy discs from one to another.

A simple and logical interface plays into the hands of the application, allows you to quickly get used to the program and start working with disks - copying them, creating images, etc.

Small CD-Writer - burn, copy and work with ISO images

Probably the oldest program in this review. The most recent version was released in 2006 (according to Wikipedia), but it copes with its tasks very well even in Windows 10. It is only 400 KB in size, almost the same functionality as CDBurnerXP. It can not only burn data discs and copy discs, but is capable of working with ISO disc images, creating them and even making Windows multiboot discs from files and folders on a computer using .bin boot files.

Small size, very simple interface, ability to copy discs and create ISO images are the main advantages of Small CD-Writer. If you need to quickly copy a disc or burn an ISO image to a disc, this utility will be very useful. Also, during operation, it does not create entries in the registry, does not leave behind any temporary files.

CloneCD - make copies of protected disks

Now I think it's difficult to surprise the user with the function of copying a disc and working with ISO format. But CloneCD tries to do it in my opinion, and he does it very well. Has all the possibilities of working with discs as Small CD-Writer and CDBurnerXP. The most interesting can copy copy-protected discs and create exact copies of any discs. Bypasses the data copy protection system. This is of course a big plus, but also controversial from some side. Piracy is bad, that's what I can say.

The program interface is extremely simple, divided into several windows and allows you to easily configure CloneCD to perform the necessary tasks. The program has a paid license, there is a trial period for three weeks.

Ashampoo Burning Studio Free - many functions in one program

An ideal tool for working with multimedia information. All multimedia tasks related to recording to discs can be solved here. Burning Studio Free can not only rip discs, but also create DVD video discs, Audio-CDs and work with disc images. Thanks to the intuitive interface, even a novice user can do everything he needs to burn discs.

However, along with such great opportunities, we get one unpleasant moment. Free activation is required to use the application. At the time of this writing, it was version 1.14.5. We will need an email address to receive an activation code. These actions are simple, of course, but a little annoying. Why did you need to perform free activation?

ImgBurn - burn DVD video and work with any disc

Another program for working with storage media. Perhaps the most famous program for copying complete information from DVD video discs. On torrents and forums, all instructions for burning movies to DVD are described in ImgBurn. In addition to recording and copying movies, it can copy any discs and work with disc images. It performs its functions perfectly. And do not forget, to get the most accurate copy of the disc without errors, set the write speed to a minimum. The disk copy time will increase, but the number of errors will be minimal.

To localize the program, you will need to download the localization file and copy it to the languages \u200b\u200bapplication folder.

BurnAware Free - data burning, copying and working with ISO

Another good program for recording and copying discs. As well as the analogue programs described above, it can copy discs, work with ISO images, burn video and audio discs.

Alcohol 120% Free Edition - work with ISO images

Universal program for working with disks and disk images. It is a stripped-down version of Alcohol 120%. Allows you to write files to discs, copy discs, create disc images, create up to two virtual drives on your computer.

To copy a disc, click on the corresponding button in the left toolbar and follow the instructions of the wizard.

UltraISO - Burn discs and create ISO images

A well-known program for working with disk images. Can create any disc images, edit them and of course copy discs.

UltraISO features

  • Copying discs;
  • Creation of multiboot disk images;
  • Editing and converting disk images;
  • Creation and recording to other media of images of hard disks and flash drives.

Well, now it's the turn of the simplest applications for working with disk images. They perform only one function - recording a disk image to a USB flash drive or disk.

Windows 7 USB / DVD Download Tool - Only Burn ISO with Windows

Many users only need to burn an ISO image with a Windows operating system to a disc. And you have to use the same drive only once - to install the operating system. These two simple utilities are especially suitable for them.

Windows 7 USB / DVD Download Tool writes Windows installation files to a disk or USB flash drive. And only ISO images of Windows can be recorded here. Drivers and various system utilities cannot be written by this program. The developer is Microsoft itself.

Passcape ISO Burner - only burn ISO

Unlike Windows 7, USB / DVD Download Tool allows you to burn discs with any operating system and programs to a disc or flash drive. The rest of the apps are identical.

A utility with a very simple interface and not quite a rich set of functions. It is indispensable for writing images to a disk or flash drive. For everything else, install CDBurnerXP, Small CD-Writer and other applications.

Brief conclusion

On this I think we can end this already not so short list. For any tasks related to burning discs, for example, the same Ashampoo Burning Studio Free or CDBurnerXP is more than enough. But it is very pleasant to make a choice on your own and adjust everything to your liking. Therefore, choose exactly the application that you liked, judge here only by the screenshots and my description. In any case, a mistake cannot be made here. Discs record all programs. On this, I thank you dear reader for your attention and I hope that I could help at least with something.

A good free program for burning discs, creating disc images and other household work.

ATTENTION! The description below was made for an earlier version of Ashampoo Burning Studio FREE 6.77.4312

How often do you burn discs? Surely at least once a week you have to throw a couple of new films onto DVD or burn a CD with music to your friend. And many people use the Nero software package for this purpose.

Today, from a small program for recording discs, it has turned into a kind of "many-sided monster" :). Today, Nero does not know how. It processes audio from video, helps to work with photographs, and provides access to the Internet, but the recording mechanism itself still remains at the level of the 7th version (although the 9th is relevant).

And if you consider that in Nero 7 the ability to burn HD-DVD and Blue-Ray discs was simply added, it turns out that Nero 6 algorithms are used to burn simple "discs" in the 9th version. It is this that many people still prefer to use. since then, since it is not burdened with all sorts of additional features and rather stable copes with its "duties".

However, the whole problem is that even the old version is paid. Today we are going to talk about how to legally and for free get a good program for burning discs with some additional useful features. Meet - Ashampoo Burning Studio FREE.

There is this program in two editions - paid (new 9th version) and free (junior 6th). The capabilities of the 9th version are practically not inferior to those of the Nero package, but let's compare them with the capabilities of the 6th:

Comparison of the Ashampoo Burning Studio 6 (FREE) recorder with the paid analogue Ashampoo Burning Studio 9

In the face of Ashampoo Burning Studio FREE we have a serious program for burning discs, which is not loaded with all sorts of add-ons, and therefore copes with its task quite tolerably.

Installing Ashampoo Burning Studio

To install the program, we need to download an archive with a small installation distribution kit, about 8 megabytes in size (for comparison, Nero takes 209 Mb) and run it. Following the instructions of the wizard, we complete all the installation steps. The most important thing is to choose Russian at the beginning:

Otherwise, you may end up with a non-Russian version of the program.

Next, we will be offered to install an additional panel for the browser. As always, I advise you to refrain from the dubious pleasure of littering it. To opt out, uncheck all the boxes in the dialog box and click Next:

The further installation procedure is standard, so we will not focus on it.

Program interface

On first launch, a dialog box will appear that will prompt us to receive news from Ashampoo and program updates. Since the news is not very interesting :), and updates, you understand, will be paid, we refuse all this "happiness" by unchecking the corresponding checkboxes:

And finally we can see the main window of the program:

The program interface is very simple. All control can be carried out using the side menu (which actually duplicates the "File" menu), without going into the intricacies of the program settings. All the features of Ashampoo Burning Studio FREE are clearly shown here.

If there is an arrow to the right of the function name, it means that this menu item has several sub-items. Let's take a look at the first (and main) item - "Write files and folders".

Example of writing to disk

Here, as you can see, there are two sub-items, the first of which offers to burn a new disc, and the second - to update the existing one (by the way, in my opinion, it works even better than in Nero). Let's try recording.

You can add files for recording either using the "Add" button (the "Explorer" is launched), or by simply dragging and dropping. At the bottom there is a disc fullness scale, and to the right of it is an indicator of the type of disc on which the current project can be recorded.

After adding all the necessary files, click "Next" and go to the project recording settings:

At this stage, we need to insert a blank disc into the drive, which will be checked for suitability for recording (you will learn about this by the inscription and the disc icon on the left).

Also here you can change some recording parameters. To do this, click the "Change options" button:

Here you can set the desired write speed, check the disc after burning, finalize it, and burn method. If you need to create multiple copies of the disc, you can also specify this here.

After setting up, you can finally start recording. To do this, press the "Burn CD" button. A rather nicely animated disc burning window will start, in which you can watch the progress of burning:

At the end of the burning process, the following window will appear, which allows you to go to the next procedure for working with the disc or return to the main menu:

Additional features of Ashampoo Burning Studio

We have figured out the main function of Ashampoo Burning Studio FREE, and now let's move on to the additional ones. So, the next step is the possibility of data archiving. After activating this menu item, a window will appear that resembles an Explorer, in which you can mark the files and folders to be backed up:

You can set exceptions, for example, by extension mask, and then files with the extension you specified will not be included in the archive. This can be done by clicking the "Exclusion Rules" button.

After finishing the formation of the archive, press the "Next" button and proceed to the stage of saving it.

You can save the archive (with the .ashba extension) either to a removable media (CD / DVD / Blue-Ray), or to a hard disk or flash drive. Additional features include password protection of the created archive and the ability to compress data. Archive saving is initiated after pressing the "Archive" button.

Having Ashampoo Burning Studio FREE and the backup archive created with its help, you can easily restore the data contained in it to your PC by selecting the "Restore existing archive" option.

Create and rip Audio CDs

And to complete the picture, I would like to recall a couple more features of Ashampoo Burning Studio FREE. It is creating and ripping Audio CDs. It is very easy to create music discs with Ashampoo Burning Studio FREE - just activate the corresponding option and add the desired music tracks to the window that appears.

If, when recording ordinary audio files, we are limited by their size, then in this case the limit is imposed on the duration. All music tracks (all popular formats are supported - mp3, wma, wav, ogg) will be recorded in a continuous stream with a total duration of 80 minutes on one CD.

The scale below will help us keep track of the remaining space. As soon as the project is ready, we can proceed to its recording by clicking the "Next" button.

And now the opposite function is Audio CD ripping. With Ashampoo Burning Studio FREE you can easily convert any audio track into a separate audio file. To do this, insert the music CD into the drive and activate the "Convert Audio CD" option. A list of tracks will appear in front of you:

If they (tracks) do not have a name, then it is possible to rename them before saving. Having marked all the necessary tracks, click the "Next" button and you will be taken to the settings window:

Here we can set the destination folder, format (mp3, wma and wav are available) and bitrate of outgoing files. After everything is set up, all that remains is to click the "Convert" button and wait until all the tracks are converted into separate files.

conclusions

Ashampoo Burning Studio FREE allows you to burn in the same way (like Audio CD) Video CDs (although only formats are supported mpeg and vob). You can also burn DVDs from prepared files vob, sub and ifo.

In addition, there are several options for creating disk images, and even creating images from files right on your computer! All in all, if you need a powerful program for burning discs with flexible settings and without "extra" functions, take a look at Ashampoo Burning Studio FREE.

P.S. It is allowed to freely copy and quote this article, provided that an open active link to the source is indicated and the authorship of Ruslan Tertyshny is preserved.

Although discs are less and less used today, free disc burning software is still as popular as it was a few years ago.

The fact is that not everyone uses flash drives today; many find it more convenient to use proven DVDs and CDs.

Therefore, it would be useful to understand what programs are used most often to burn discs.

To do this, you can conduct a little research on forums, social networks and simply sites where all kinds of software are distributed.

Actually, this was done. And the results of this study can be seen below.

Interestingly, most users of the same Windows 7 do not even know about the existence of such a program.

But this is not surprising, since such giants as Nero very easily put pressure on the small Small CD-Writer on the market.

By the way, it fully corresponds to its name.

There is absolutely nothing superfluous in this program, only the most basic functions are collected.

In addition, Small CD-Writer is very lightweight and does not need the ability to write any temporary information to the cache.

Thanks to this Small CD-Writer does not take up much space and does not require a lot of computer memory resources for its work.

Plus, Small CD-Writer is so easy to use that it's hard to imagine anything even easier.

How to use

Using the Small CD-Writer, as mentioned above, is very simple. For novice users, this program is optimal.

So, the very process of writing files to a disk, DVD or CD, is to simply drag the necessary files from a folder with the mouse into the space circled in the figure # 1 with a green frame.

After that, you should click on the "Write" button in the area enclosed by a red frame in the same figure. As you can see, there is absolutely nothing complicated about it. After clicking the button, a small window will appear in which you will need to select the speed and click OK.

The process of erasing discs looks very simple too.

After the disc itself is inserted into the drive, you need to click the "Eject / Insert Disc" button in the menu circled in red and select the desired disc in the "Computer" menu ("This Computer" on Windows 10 and "My Computer" on Windows 7 and earlier).

After that, in the same area, select the "Clear" button, then a menu will appear in which you will need to select the erasing option - full or fast.

Advice: It is best to choose full erase so that no data and, in particular, garbage, remain on the disk and interfere with its further use.

Summing up the description of the Small CD-Writer program, we can say that it is one of the easiest to use.

This is due to its immense popularity among users of the Russian Internet and in general the entire worldwide network.

The site also contains articles on the following topics:

  • Free software for burning CD-DVD discs in Russian: List of the best

Here we are already talking about a full-fledged multifunctional package, which includes a huge number of all kinds of functions related to recording and erasing DVD, CD and Blu-ray.

But, despite the abundance of functions, the program is also quite easy to use.

The main functions that Ashampoo Burning Studio Free performs are as follows:

  • Creation of disk images (the most famous format of such a disk image is ISO, there is also CUE / BIN, ASHDISC and others);
  • Creating backup copies of data;
  • Burn music, movies and other data to discs;
  • Converting music (for example, you can create Audio-CD, MP3, WMA, and more);
  • Erasing discs;
  • Recording movies in Blu-ray format and other similar formats intended solely for watching movies;
  • Preparation of CD covers, as well as booklets and other publications for them.

The program has a full-fledged interface in Russian, which is a huge advantage over the same Small CD-Writer.

Of course, the most famous program that performs the same functions is Nero (a full-fledged paid version) and Ashampoo Burning Studio Free does not even claim to be the best in this area.

Using

To burn a disc using Ashampoo Burning Studio Free, you need to do the following:

  • Launch the program using a shortcut on the desktop or from the Start menu.
  • In the program window, we see a convenient menu on the left side, which indicates all possible actions related to writing and erasing disks. To simply dump some data onto a disc, you must select the "Burn files and folders" item.
    To do this, just hover the mouse cursor over it.

  • After that, select the item "Create a new CD / DVD / Blu-ray disc" in the drop-down menu, consisting of two commands. The second is for updating an existing disk, that is, overwriting it.

  • Next, a window appears, very similar to what we have already seen in the Small CD-Writer. Here, too, you just need to transfer the necessary files to the area surrounded by a green frame in Figure 4.
    When they are added, it remains to click on the "Next" button located in the lower right corner of the program window (circled in red).

  • The drive selection window now opens. If the user has already inserted a blank disc into his drive, the program will detect it automatically. Here it remains only to click on the "Burn CD" button and wait for the end of the recording.

Note: Figure # 5 shows the ideal scenario when a disc is inserted into the drive that has no data, damage, or anything else that would interfere with normal recording. Otherwise, the program will display a corresponding message and the "Burn CD" button will be unavailable.

By the way, download Ashampoo Burning Studio Free is best on the official page - www.ashampoo.com/ru/rub/fdl.

After installation, you will need to go through a short procedure for obtaining a free key.

This is a free and very light version of the real giant and heavyweight in the field of software for burning files to discs.

The capabilities of this program are very limited and are as follows:

  • Writing data to CD and DVD;
  • Copying discs;
  • Blu-ray recording;
  • Cleaning disks.

That's all. But this has its undeniable advantages. For example, Nero Free works many times faster than its full-fledged brother.

If the usual Nero can hang on weak computers, and the recording process itself can take a very long time, then in the simplified version everything is much faster.

Interestingly, most users choose Nero Free due to the fact that this program perfectly copes with its tasks on weak computers.

In addition, it has an interface in Russian.

But it is interesting that you cannot download Nero Free on the official website at the moment. At least, users cannot find it there.

But on other sites, most often pirated, Nero Free is publicly available.

This is explained by the fact that, most likely, this product was distributed for a very short time, and then the Nero team stopped doing this.

Either way, Nero Free works on all modern computers.

How to use

In many ways, using Nero Free is very similar to the small Small CD-Writer. But there are a little more functions here.

All of them are concentrated in two menus, one of which is located at the top, and the second is on the left side of the program window.

To simply write some data to disk, you need to select the "Data recording" item in the menu located on the left.

After that, the menu shown in Figure 7 will appear. Then everything is done as in other similar applications.

There is a field where you need to insert all files intended for writing to disk (in Figure 7 it is also highlighted in green).

First you just need to drag and drop files there. After that, click on the "Record" button (highlighted in red).

In that window, you can also click on the "Record" button, after which it will remain to wait until the end of the recording process. We also see that there is nothing difficult in using it.

But still, often a little more functions are required than just the ability to write information to a disc.

It is because of the lack of some functions that Nero Free is significantly inferior to the same Ashampoo Burning Studio Free.

But we will sum up the results later, but for now we will consider another similar program, which is also very popular in the Russian Internet.

Another program for burning discs, which is incredibly easy to use.

But its difference from the previous ones is that it supports an unprecedented number of disk image formats.

No other program (even the paid ones) supports so many formats.

Among them are the usual ISO and DVD, as well as BIN, UDI, CDI, FI, MDS, CDR, PDI and many others.

In general, ImgBurn can rightfully be called a real giant in terms of supported formats.

On the other hand, it often prevents the program from functioning properly. Some users write that it often takes too long when working with some formats.

In other cases, ImgBurn stops working altogether.

But such cases are extremely rare and may be due to the characteristics of the drive or the computer as a whole.

By and large, almost all problems associated with the work of ImgBurn, people immediately write on the forums when they arise.

Therefore, we can assume that almost all cases of incorrect work of ImgBurn are captured in posts on English and Russian forums (most often the first).

Basically, people are very happy with this program.

It is not for nothing that ImgBurn scores below 4.5 out of 5 on various user software sites.

The program interface is shown in figure 8. To write some files to disk, you need to select the corresponding item in the menu.

After that, almost the same recording menu will appear, as shown in Figures 4 and 7.

In it, the user will only need to drag and drop the necessary files into the specially designated space and press the record button.

In addition to the ability to write a wide variety of images to disk, users highlight the following advantages of ImgBurn over other similar programs:

  • Burn music and movies to disc in a wide variety of formats, including OGG and WV.
  • Unicode support (after recording, there will be no problems with the names of files and folders).
  • The ability to open and close the drive through the program window.
  • The ability to change the label of the image.
  • Automatic search on the Internet for new firmware for a particular drive.

Other similar programs for recording discs do not have such features. True, to make a program in Russian, you need to download the required file on the Internet, and then drop it into the language folder (Languages) of the installed program.
